After a mail-order bride fiasco leaves Olivia Hardy without a groom, she now owns a house and gold mine with eight other women, lives in a town full of rough-and-tumble miners, and has very little peace. When she sees a precious treasure for sale from her beloved state of Georgia, she’s determined to help the man to whom it rightfully belongs—whether he wants her help or not.
Nothing would distract him…
After being falsely accused of a heinous crime, Ronan Briggs worked hard to recreate himself, build his fortune, and plan out every step that will bring him to his ultimate goal… a goal that is now just days away from completion. When Olivia stubbornly inserts herself into his life, he pushes her away, no matter how much he desires to bring her closer.
A complication in Ronan’s plan arises, and Olivia is the only one who can help him reach his objective. He just didn’t know she could heal his heart as well.
Olivia and Ronan were made for each other. Ronan was on the path to getting his ultimate revenge when fate stepped in. Needing a wife like yesterday he immediately thought of Olivia (the woman he feel in love with at first sight but just didn't know it yet). Olivia wanting to be needed decided to help, not knowing exactly what she was getting into. When Ronan's secrets came to light, he lost the most important thing in his life... Join me again in Promise Creek to see another of Ivan's mail-order brides on her journey to happy ever after.
A great addition to the series! In fact, I think I liked it better than the first book! The plot was more involved and kept you guessing! Couldn't put it down! Good read!
Olivia’s life didn’t turn out quite as she expected as a mail order bride. First off her groom was dead – and she wasn’t the only bride he’d ordered before his death. Now she and several other women were the reluctant owners of a large house and a mine… with no idea how to work the mine. They’ve stayed in town with the hopes of finding husbands among the residents here, and as a condition of keeping both the house and the mine.
Ronan is a bit of a man of mystery. He doesn’t talk much, but he certainly knows how to plan… revenge. Olivia rescues an item that he reluctantly and foolishly left in the hands of a schemer. Now she’s messing with his head and his heart. He’ll eventually have to figure out which is more important getting his revenge or keeping the woman he’s come to love in his life, forever.
A Mail Order Wish is a quick story and brings the series along a bit further. I liked both Ronan and Olivia. Her heart is in the right place, she just needs to get one stubborn man to realize that. The message of this story is clear and simple: love is more important than revenge.. When Ronan stops pushing Olivia away and really allows his feelings for her show then he learns what is truly important in life. While my heart went out to Ronan for what happened to him, I also at times wanted to rattle him a bit for his stubbornness and not seeing the jewel that was right in front of him. Sometimes characters simply grab onto my heart, and Olivia and Ronan certainly did that. Opposites truly do attract and it might be hard to top this particular couple. Time will tell.
I enjoyed myself in this world and would not hesitate to recommend this story or the series to any Western Historical Romance reader. Now I’m off to pick up the next story in this series.
I read this title through my Kindle Unlimited subscription.
Ronan is a man bent on revenge. Betrayed by his best friend during the War Between the States and tried and convicted of murder, he escaped and started planning the demise of said friend. There was just one more hurdle, a recent change in plans...he needed to return to Georgia and he needed to be married or the deal wouldn't be finalized. The problem was he wasn't married and had no prospects.
Olivia left Georgia to be a mail order bride but when she arrived in Montana it was to discover that her fiancee was dead and eight other women who were all supposed to marry the same man.
Olivia and Ronan met when, as a favor for the nine ladies, he worked their gold mine, which had belonged to the man they were to marry. When Ronan received the new stipulation to his plan he asked Olivia to marry him that very day. With some hesitation, she agreed and they were married and headed to Georgia within a day. The real problem was going to be when Olivia realized that Ronan had been lying to her and that he planned to financially ruin and then kill his former best friend.
Sometimes a gal just needs a short romance to read. This book read pretty quick with the expected happily ever after. I could relate to Olivia, wanting to do more, help more, care for more, be needed. I liked Ronan. Funnily enough, upon finishing this book, the next one I picked up to read, a contemporary this time, has the main male character also named Ronan. Sidetracked! One thing that did bother me in this book, was the fact that Ronan's nemesis, whom Ronan had been best friends with, never recognized him, yet, a stranger on the street thought he looked familiar. Also, why wouldn't Ronan spend more time immediately with his mother and go to see his father, when he found out they were alive. I guess, even though I wanted a short read, I still wanted to have all the bits and pieces.
This is a quick, enjoyable read. Olivia and Ronan had some slight sparks going in Book 1 and I'm glad Daniels let them have their moment. The characters are likeable - even if a little predictable. The plot is fun, even if the timeline to love is a little quicker then I usually enjoy (the 'I just met you and already love you're plot line usually annoys me). The only reason I didn't give it a five is because I wanted more - while it neatly told Olivia and Ronan's tale, the entire plot could have been given much more time to develop. However, I will totally be reading the next book in the series.
Marrying because you have to? Not a unique situation, but the reason is. Ronan suddenly needs a wife, and who better than the woman he’s looking at? Hmmmm. There’s a lot more than meets the eye in this second book of the series. I enjoyed watching it unfold, sometimes completely unpredictably.
I hope you’ll take my recommendation and read this series and the Copper Kings series as well. They’re all terrific.
I liked this second book in the series much better than the first book. Kind hearted Olivia was the perfect character to play against Ronan, who had an agenda and a dark secret past. Their story and journey to love was almost perfect until she discovered his hidden past. This had some real feelings and emotions in it that a reader could connect to. I’m looking forward to the next book in this series.
OMG what a story, deceit, betrayal, revenge and love this has it all Olivia really didn't know what she was letting herself in for. A must read of two people helping each other find themselves with a few major issues to over come of coz, all caused by Ronan or could that be James and his revenge.
Nicely written, a quick read. This book had characters that I loved and some I hated, and I was supposed to. It's nice to find a well written book, in a series I'm enjoying at a good price. Spoiler I do wish that they had gone back to both of their families and added to the story. I would have liked a longer ending with more. The worst part of this story was when it was over, I wanted more.
A little cheesy towards the end but sweet and nevertheless enjoyable. It's hard to have much character development in novellas. It's a shame because these stories could be much stronger if they were full length novels. Not sure yet if I will keep going in the series. The books are cute but a bit shallow due to the length. There is much stronger material out there.
I'm truly enjoying this series so far. I just finished book two and I'm looking forward to the next one. This mail-order bride series is different than most mail-order bride novels ... I truly like that these characters are strong women and the series has interesting plots that make me "want to keep reading".
I liked Ronan. I didn't like Olivia so much. She was annoying at times and clueless at other times. I liked Ronan, and I like how his ending was resolved. I also liked knowing his story. Again, the story was too short for me to really like this couple.
I am still interested in the rest of the series and looking forward to some of the other books.
I truly enjoyed this book. After reading book one of this series, I was looking forward to reading this one, and it didn't disappoint in any way. The characters were well developed and the plot was believeable. I'm looking forward to the third insallment in this ries.
Challenges, problems, tragedies, love, occur all times in our lives.
Love your historical Wild West stories, how you interlace the protagonists, as friends, lovers families, enemies. They overcome so hard obstacles and at the end they find their destiny. Each story related but so different and entertaining.
I honestly believe true love, the kind that is based on understanding, sharing and building together is powerful. That is what this novel is about. How standing for honest behavior is worth the battle and love fights for that.
A quick read. The second book in the series. The author was consistent with the theme and characters. The main female character was strong and stuck to her beliefs. The author completes the story but leaves you wanting to read the next book in the series.
I really love this series so far. Each is so different in the storyline and the characters are unique in their own way. I want to read all of their stories and learn how each finds love.
Like the first book in this series I found it delicious. The characters worked. And though the hero, to me, came off as a sort of villain in the beginning. I'm glad to say as I read it he wasn't. Great story l
Continuing with the charming series, this author has written another enthralling installment and it was a pleasure to read! I eagerly anticipate the next oeuvre, knowing it will be just as good as it's predecessors!
I liked this book. It was cute and a quick read. But I didn't like it as much as the first book. I'm still not sold on the series either... I love the writing, which is keeping me hooked. I'll read the next and see how I feel about the series then.
I really liked this story. It was just spicy enough to keep me on the edge of my seat but not gritty or over the top. The plot had twists and turns I never saw coming which kept me reading eagerly. I'd definitely read more in this series!
A Mail-Order Wish ( Minors to Millionaires Book 2)
I loved this second book in this series. Love how Janelle Daniels writes her storylines and the characters in this series. Will be getting the third book, plan on reading the entire series. Recommend. JudyE
I’m really enjoying this series. The storylines are great and well written. I like that I can’t predict the outcome because it truly keeps you on your toes with these wonderful brides not brides😊
