This is one of the most beautifully written books I've read in a long time. Ogburn spent a winter traveling from Maine to North Carolina, describing the wonders of the various winter beaches. He was a master of simile. Oh to be able to write like that....

I fell in love with this book. I've always had a healthy respect for the ocean. I envy Charlton Ogburn, Jr. for having had the opportunity spend a year alone in a very lonely place.
