Very well done!
Would have liked a little more Titan than just occasional mentions of Cash. How was Seth buddies with Cash without Roman being involved? Those two were stitched at the hip until Cash's HEA in Garrison's Creed. Even then, they are in each other's pockets when not with their women. A bit more Titan in this Titan World novella and it could have garnered a 5 star rating. Conversely, as a stand alone, without being Titan World, this story may have garnered a 5 star as well, based on the pure emotional impact.
The bulk of my review is based on the aforementioned emotional punch. There were some areas that could have benefited from additional editing, but not enough to detract from how the characters and their story makes you feel. OMG, the feels!
In the write what you know category, if this author hasn't lived the life, I would be surprised. At the very least, she conducted extremely in depth research.
As an USAF spouse of 23 years, married to my very own one and only, high school sweetheart, I can honestly say Amber Addison NAILED it. All of it. She called up all the thought processes, emotions, everything. I recommended that my husband read it, which he currently is, and he said from the active duty side, the author nailed it, as well. He said the couple in this story was us and it's true. The difference being we knew when we were dating he was career Air Force and would retire out.
Amber Addison was able to suck in the reader. A written virtual reality experience!
What Seth and Maddie experience is both heart wrenching and heart warming. I kept having to push away my mothering/mentoring instincts at times. At other times I felt the need to lock my husband and I in our room for a couple days, because she wrote some HOT love scenes that were both erotic and unbearably tender at times.
I loved that Seth and Maddie were written so true to life. Young and naive but knowing they were lucky to find their soul mate so young. Inexperienced and immature due to age, not personality. Neither were intentionally selfish or hurtful as I find too many characters to be, in romance books, as well as more and more often in reality. There were no intentional, convenient problems dropped into the story by the author. Just two kids madly in love, who grow up together, becoming two adults madly in love. The story progressed naturally, especially as pertains to military life. Military life is drastically different than civilian and what is normal in one is far different than the other.
Ms. Addison refrained from overdramatization of events. The birth of Olivia is something that maybe could have (should have?) been dramatized a little more. Having a baby born at 32 weeks with absolutely no medical issues is quite rare. Also, a preemie birth would have been worked by Seth's 1st Sergeant to delay his deployment. There's usually always a back up preparing for deployment along with the primaries, exactly for that reason. One never knows when an emergency will happen. The Air Force is really, really good at taking care of their airmen and families. Mission comes first, yes, but they will do everything they can to provide aid when and where possible.
Keep writing, Amber!
