Holy animated cowabunga, Bat-dude!

This TPB edition contains "Batman / TNMT Adventures" #1-6. Don't confuse with the other "Batman/TMNT" crossover event, this is a different one.

Creative Team:

Writer: Matthew K. Manning

Illustrator: Jon Sommariva

I AM THE NIGHT, DUDE!

If you remember, I did a review about a crossover event of Batman and TMNT some time ago, in this same year (2017), but this TPB at hand is totally a different one!

That other crossover event was based on the comic book versions of Batman (DC Comics) and TMNT (IDW Publishing),...

...BUT...

...this TPB at hand is based on animated versions of them, specifically the iconic hit TV series Batman: The Animated Series and the current Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon series developed by Nickelodeon.

So, it's not odd at all that both teams, Bat-family and the Turtles, aren't aware of the existence of each other parallel dimension, since the other crossover was done by different versions of them.

GOTHAM & NY: DAWN OF CITIES

The inmates of Arkham Asylum are dissapearing leaving not a single trace...

...Batman is clueless about it and he doesn't like to be like that.

Two-Face, one of the inmates suddenly re-appeared and he gives to the Dark Knight the only clue to follow...

...conducting him along with Robin (Dick Grayson) and Batgirl to New York, but a New York in another dimension, where turtles can talk, know ninjitsu, and eat pizza...

...nothing so strange, right?

After the cliché super-hero crossover fight, since both team don't know that both teams are the good guys...

...soon the Caped Crusaders and the Heroes in a Half-shell join forces to go behind the Arkham escapees, whom took different places of New York...

...but one of them, he is more ambitious, he puts a smile in the face of anyone...

...and he's not alone!

Therefore, the Foot Clan will go under new management causing havok in the Big Apple!

But don't get mistaken!

Since that not-so serious guy and his personal psychiatrist aren´t the real masterminds behind this interdimensional threat!

What are you waiting for?!

Let's order pizza and start reading!

The Nickelodeon Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles show crosses over with Batman: The Animated Series in this dreariest of comics. Batman’s rogues start jumping into portals appearing around Gotham and get transported to the Turtles’ world – Batman and the Bat-family follow. Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawwnnn!

Gawd amighty it’s a challenge to stay awake reading this one! NOTHING matters, every character plays their clearly defined role predictably, the goodies effortlessly defeat the baddies, and there are zero stakes. It’s so unimaginative and no part of this is in the least bit entertaining. The story is so lacking in anything remarkable. Donnie has a thing for Batgirl and Mikey cocks up the Batman Animated Series intro HAHA… boring, safe rubbish.

Not that it’s a great comic either but if you’re after a better Batman/TMNT crossover, check out James Tynion IV’s version and give Matthew Manning’s feeble, tedious effort a miss.

I thought it was clever to not only do a Batman / TMNT crossover, but a crossover of Batman: The Animated Series with the current TMNT cartoon on Nickelodeon. Storywise, it's pretty simple, but it's fun and exciting with lots of great quips and jokes. Everything you'd expect with the crossover of two cartoons.

A tale of two established and well loved properties colliding to bring a sadly mediocre experience. Perhaps the most impressive thing this has to offer is how well the characters mesh artistically. Neither party look like they've had to make visual sacrifices to fit next to other, creating a nice sense of cohesion. However, whilst it visually emulates BTAS, the story is far from it when it comes to quality. The most aggregious crime it commits is simply being boring; and this is from someone who grew up with both. The opposite of a page turner, the visual appeal is only able to help this graphic novel stumble drunkenly over the finish line.

Current me rates it 4 stars, but 8 year old me rates it 250 stars, so we can just split the difference.

The art style is fun and cartoony. The story is on the light side, so you get a smiling Batman and lots of Michelangelo silliness. This also has some good references to the old Batman animated series that were fun to see. However, the story isn't very substantial.

I really enjoyed the three crossovers with Batman and TMNT. I had not gotten to this 4th one. but it was a lot of fun. I admit I am not real familiar with the Nick version of the Turtles it still works.

It was fun seeing more fights between the Turtles and Bat Villains as well as Batman fighting a few Turtles Villains.

It has two crossovers and both are fun. Some surprise Villains and moments here.

Surprisingly good. I didn't watch much of the Turtles Nickelodeon cartoon but I'm a big fan of the Batman Adventures cartoon, and this story fit in great with that universe. The art was just what you'd expect, very similar to the art in the Batman Adventures comic. While this was more of an all-ages story, it wasn't just for kids. Just a light hearted crossover that checks all the boxes for what makes a crossover work. If you're a fan of either or both of the series, this is worth a read.

Despite being twenty years apart, these two universes click instantly. It's surprising, but it shouldn't be. Leonardo and Batman get to brood, Donatello and Batgirl flirt, Mikey and Robin hang out.... in fact everyone gets something to do. It's almost like these two worlds were made to meet.

As a kid of the 90's, I grew up with a very different set of Ninja Turtles, but I really like this modern incarnation. They're less goofy, but still fun.

This book had a lot of laugh out loud moments for me, which I wasn't expecting. For some reason Michaelangelo screaming "A kid dressed in red!" is hilarious to me.

The art style is reminiscent of both TAS and TMNT, but it has its own spin.

A must read for a fan of either universe.

This was a ton of fun. Modern day turtles animation meets the world of Batman: The Animated Series! Plenty big villains from Batman’s rogues gallery show up in the Turtle universe in this one and Batman and the TMNT must find out how this happened and must bring them back to Arkham. A ton of fun dialogue and cheesy jokes and some beautifully places and illustrated homages and callbacks to one of my favorite television shows of all time!

There are two Batman/TMNT crossover comics and I only knew about one of them, so this was a surprise! An interesting style with the Batman Animated Series and not a specific TMNT style BUT it is the Nickelodeon version of them. There's nothing too much to say on this, this isn't taken very seriously and I had a really nice time reading it and got a few laughs out of it! I think if you happen to be fans of both series then will probably get the max enjoyment out of it!

This was... a surprisingly enjoyable read. I'm not a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fan, but I do like Batman, so when I saw this book (and flipped through it and found that it had Robin in it), I couldn't resist picking it up. And, I have to admit, I got more than a few chuckles out of this book. I particularly liked a lot of the in-jokes. This was clearly something made for fans, and it shows. I also liked that we got to see Nightwing and Tim Drake Robin in the epilogue. The artwork was fun, the plot was fun... in short, this graphic novel was just plain fun. If you're looking for something you can enjoy in one sitting and get a nice little laugh, I would definitely recommend it.

Great mesh of old school versions of these characters. There are so many references for fans, that you may have to read it twice to find them all. Lots of fun, lots of cartoon action, and great interactions between characters from these two universes, especially Nightwing and Michaelangelo. My only gripe is that these turtles were more like the new, Nickelodeon ones than the ones from the 80s, though Batman and his crew were straight out of the 90s cartoon. Recommended for fans.

This was even better than the previous crossover. beautiful and colorful artwork that perfectly recreates the styles of Batman TAS and the Nickelodeon computer animated tmnt series. the characters are all written true to their on screen counter parts. bonus points for the epilogue using the redesigned art style from the last season of TAS. Highly recommended to any one who is a fan of either of these tv shows at any age. Could be equally enjoyed by a 7 year old and a 30 year old.

Largely an Animated Series version of the previous crossover, but more fun, and with Manning catching perfectly the speech and personalities of all characters, and Sommariva matching with body language and expressions, it's hard not to read this and hear all the animated character voices in your head.

(Read as single issues.)

This was a lot of fun!
True to it's characters, love that it's the animation of the 1990s Batman Animated Series but of the 2010s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Geeky, great for kids and those adults who are fans of either series mentioned above.

Spoiler:
Love that April and Batgirl fight some bad guys together and that Poison Ivy was in it as well.

Cute.

Like Ghostbusters: Get Real, it gets much more involved with the source material than you would expect (explaining a character design change between seasons of the animated Batman show that I think no one really needed explaining.)

And, of course, the question is who likes the Nickelodeon TMNT when there are so many other choices? But, fine.

This book is a hoot! While I still can’t tell the Turtles apart, there is a good deal of interest for fans of Batman: The Animated Series, including one unforgettable gag that deserves not to be spoiled. Definitely one of the better recent crossovers with the Batman titles.

Pretty light-hearted cute crossover

Really cute little Batman/TMNT crossover. It’s based on the 2012 version of the TMNT characters, and the style of the Batman characters feel like the older 90s Batman animated series. Very nicely drawn and story goes at a fast pace. (Maybe too fast, lol!)

Batman’s still serious, though he does smirk or do small smiles occasionally, but he barely reacts to Mikey’s antics, luckily. XD Other Batman characters that showed up were a couple of his Robins, Batgirl, and a few major villains with maybe one obscure villain.

The turtles are in character and act as expected, and most of the Batman and TMNT characters were treated with respect.

I did feel the part with Shredder being easily defeated by a certain villain in one part was lame, as I felt Shredder should’ve been more of a threat. At least he was back in charge in the end of that very short arc.

Overall, this first volume is a nice, fun little crossover story that would be good for both fans (all ages) of 2012 turtles and middle grade children. :)

I was pleasantly surprised by this! I came in without expectations, since I haven't watched the Nick reboot of TMNT, and from the cover that looked to be the art style. But lo and behold, they're ALSO doing the Batman: TAS style as well! There were some truly great panels in this. The coloring and linework is terrific pretty much across the board.

As for the story, it was...fine? I guess? Fairly standard crossover stuff. Most of the A-listers make an appearance within the arc. There are also some story beats that make me think they wanted this to be a longer run, but got cut short.

The character interactions were absolutely fantastic. A TON of little in-jokes, easter eggs, and some comedic bits that actually got me to chuckle out loud. Definitely the reason I rated it as highly as I did.

I would recommend this to either side of the fandom, even if you're unfamiliar with the other side.

via NYPL - Decent crossover, but definitely a lot more for crotchety old fans like me than your kiddos, as the continuity nods are too frequent and too obscure. And even for us crotchety old fans, it wasn't anything special. The Turtles are underplayed and apparently outclassed at nearly every turn, which robs much of the fun from the series (Leo and Raph have little to do, although the Donatello/Batgirl flirtation and the awkward Robin/Michelangelo partnership each have their fun moments). The art's solid. The last chapter jumps forward years and swaps from Dick Grayson Robin to Tim Drake Robin with almost no explanation, and my still-very-young kids had no idea there have been multiple Robins, which made for a confused and unsatisfying finale.

As crossovers tend to go, this one is really by the notes.

However, I must say that I enjoyed this crossover, between the best cartoon versions of both franchises, is leagues better than the other three crossovers we had before.

Simple story here, the Turtles and Batman are investigating some strange occurrences in their respective worlds and end up fighting each other's villains.

My interest in this book is primarily with fanservice, as we don't really see interesting interactions between any of the characters, like at all. They all behave like NPCs in an RPG, not doing anything else but what they're programmed to do.

It's fun, that's all I wanted from this book. But if you want to see a propper Batman TMNT crossover try with the animated movie.

Cute mash-up, understandably full of fan service for Batman and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fans. I love the art style used for the Batman characters and the TMNT characters. The recreation of the Batman opening was fantastic. I also enjoyed the crush Don quickly had on Batgirl (coincidence they both wear purple?). Robin and Mike also made a good duo. And one of my favorite, underrated Batman villains is the mastermind to boot! Curiouser and curiouser. It definitely felt more like the turtles were visiting the Batman universe, though, despite taking place in New York. The epilogue felt a little tacked on just to shoehorn in a few more characters.

Collects Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Adventures issues #1-6

This is a team-up story between the Batman, Robin, and Batgirl of the 1990's animated series universe, along with a recent cartoon version (that I haven't seen before) of the Ninja Turtles. There were some fun aspects to this story, but nothing earth-shattering.

The main story takes place in just 5 issues, and the last issue is used as an epilogue that takes place some unstated time in the future (but we can see that a lot of time has passed).

A fun crossover between two of the best versions of their respective franchises. The plot might be a little too straightforward, but it's more than entertaining enough to make up for that, with some neat moments. (I also admit to enjoying this more than the original Batman/TMNT crossover.) The epilogue, set later in both series' timelines, is a nice bonus. (B+)
