Three bears turned human.
An evil witch driven by vengeance.
And a drunken, fairy god-uncle with a filthy mouth.

When you combine these things you get one ever-so twisted, yet totally hilarious fairy tale.

Butchy can’t believe it when his boyfriend gives him the, “It’s not you, it’s me,” line and decides to soothe his wounded ego with an epic all-nighter. On the way home, he is pulled through the realms and lands smack in the middle of a dark spell. An evil witch is about to sacrifice three bears, who are caged and waiting.

Suddenly, he finds himself in the one position he's hates most … fairy god-uncle … to not one, but three young girls. On top of that, these girls have never been human and know nothing about the ways of the world. But, it was their call that brought him across the realms, so they are officially his charges.

Butchy is convinced being assigned to the girls is a huge mistake, but it also might be his chance to prove to Juan that he is more than just a pretty face with incredible hair and a glorious fashion sense.

Will this group of misfits be able to survive one twisted fairy tale after another while they search for a cure that will return them to their animal forms? Will the evil witch find them first? And most importantly, can Butchy teach animals how to be ‘fierce and fine’ … or use forks?

Three bears are accidentally turned into humans by a witch attempting dark magic. Luckily Uncle Butch, an extremely camp fairy godfather, comes to their rescue. Together they need to find a way to break the curse so they can turn back into their true bear forms.
A surprisingly sweary, occasionally funny, romance, with hints from lots of different fairy tales.
The narrator was a little robotic and I have no idea what the different accents were. They mostly sounded Jamaican at first.

I've been a fan of Jennifer Malone Wright since her "Vampire Hunter's Daughter" series; so, I was truly looking forward to reading "Beary Tales." Unfortunately, I did not find the book as interesting as the rave reviews.

Beary Tales" is a fairy tale of sorts about a woman named Goldalynn who comes from a family of women whose husbands are cursed to die shortly after they wed. Of course, she doesn't believe in all of that curse mumbo until her childhood friend and new husband, William is suddenly killed. Goldalynn refuses to accept this reality and goes to a witch to purchase a spell that will bring her William back. Althought the witch does not want to do this dark magic, she is coerced by Goldalynn. However, there is a catch. Goldalynn must take the pelts of three different types of bear.

Goldalynn commissioned hunters to capture the bears; but when she goes to kill and skin them something happens. The bears turn into three beautiful but naked women with the help from their Fairy Godfather who is also gay. His name is Uncle Butchy (Yeah, I know a little cliche and cheesy). Uncle Butchy gets the girls away from Goldalynn even though he is supposed to be retired. He discovers that the Queen requires him to help the three girls ( Leilanni, Katya, and Nita) to find true love.

There are many quasi funny moments as the girls learn to be human; yet, this story just did not appeal to me. There were times I really did not think that I would be able to finish this read because it was just so cheesy and silly. I'm sorry but this one just isn't for me!

A delicately interwoven tale of love and loss and the power of TRUE love. I was leery of reading this book, not my genre at all. But alas, I loved it! It reads like an old time fairy tale, which I found interesting and surprisingly pleasing. I also enjoyed the little fairy tales of old delicately stitched throughout the book.
Goldalynn was born a witch, from a family of cursed witches. Their loves would always die. But Goldalynn was going to fight back, take control of the love she couldn’t live without. But the power she sought after took over and clouded her mind with darkness. Through her magic, she changed the bears she was to use in her spell into humans, and they, with the help of their Fairy Godfather are running for their lives and trying desperately to find a way to return to their true selves. Destiny may have a different idea tho. Their search leads them on many different adventures and ultimately to their destinies. With an ending so beautiful and moving, but with the promise of more to come! Does danger ever really leave us? Do we ever truly get our “Happily Ever After”?

This was such a wonderful, book that I actually read it twice, the second time with my teen daughter, who was more than happy to sit and listen to me read.

We are introduced to a world, not unlike our own, but our protagonist has a lot of learning, self-discovery and growing up to do.

This has all the elements of an aged old fairytale, yet, has all the magic of present day realism that completely spellbinds the reader. Fast paced, well written and a plot that grips right until the end, it is hard to not think about the story, even after the end.

There are so many interwoven themes present in this book, that I tip my hat to its authors. Clever, well versed, believable dialogue and, above all else, a beautifully crafted novel.

If you love your fairy tales packing a punch, then this is the book for you.

Thoroughly enjoyable.

Fairytales Gone Wild!
A fairytale makeover like you've never imagined! Like a crazy montage of many well known fairytales kicked up a few notches & then bedazzled by the fairy fashionista that is Butchy. This story had me laughing from beginning to end! Butchy is a piece of work, & I couldn't get enough of his back & forth banter with the girls! There's loads of action, comedy, romance, & magical goodness all around. If the fairies aren't enough for ya I'm sure one of the many witches or smexy shifters will win you over. Psssst...Those are some seriously HOT bears & crocs! I can't wait for the next installment!!!

BEARY TALES is a stand-alone, dark, paranormal romance.

Wonderfully written, it felt like an old-time fairy tale, but with modern characters. There were also elements of some of the old favorites sprinkled through.

Goldalynn starts out as a good girl, but allows her powers to corrupt her. This leads to her using dark magic and claiming it as part of her true love of her husband.

The three bears and their fairy god… uncle, Butchy, are running from her. It is a lot of fun to listen in as these three girl bears learn how to be young ladies and as they each find their true loves.

I loved the humor mixed with the feel of a traditional fairy tale. Uncle Butchy is over-the-top wild and has his own lessons to learn.

I loved the ending. It too was reminiscent of an old fairy tale in twisting and summing up the lessons learned.

Narration: Shana M. Buck has a beautiful melodic voice, but her reading is stilted and forced with many odd pauses and a monotone delivery.

3 Bears transformed into human women

Dark magic from a witch trying to resurrect her true love, causes her to change three bears into humans. The humans have a faerie Godfather and he helps them escape and learn about their condition. Through the story parallels to old fables join in to the story.

Beary Tales is an entertaining and fun story with some dark twists on fairy tales weaved throughout. I liked that the girls had different personalities and especially found Leilanni to be quite funny. The humor in the book was great and did have me laughing out loud quite a few times. I did really like the overall story and thought it was quick and fun to read but there were also a few things I did not like as well. Mostly it just came down to inconsistency. In some scenes the girls would have trouble understanding the slightest things as humans yet at other times I would be left wondering how they could speak or act a certain way without even basic human understandings. There was also a scene in the beginning of the book where Butchy named the girls because they did not even know what names were yet later there were two instances where Leilanni called her former self Nanuck. Finally I was a bit bugged by the fact that for quite a bit of the book Mato was just forgotten and not mentioned at all. Then when we did get an update it was just a few sentences and basically said he was dumped far away to explain his lengthy disappearance. He didn't even really reoccur until almost the end of the book and I felt like his character could have been so much more. But as I said I did actually enjoy reading this one despite it's flaws and I would recommend it to my less critical book loving friends who like fairy tale twists. The ending was a bit of a shock though as I assumed we were getting a happy ending. I would like to see where the story goes from here. So I really hope that there will be a sequel!

Awesome book to win in a giveaway, just AWESOME. This came very close to being a 5 star read for me, because I ADORE fairy tales and Uncle Butchy was awesome. The tone of the story managed to balance itself well between the classic fairy tale and modern romance. I liked the pacing, I enjoyed the characters, and I liked the villain part of the ending. Which is also because the tone, voice, whatever, of the story was perfection. I also enjoyed that it didn't take itself too seriously. The flaw in the perfection was with certain supporting characters...I could tell where the author was drawing from, I could tell what she was going for, but she failed a little bit and it verged on caricature. I'd still recommend it, it was a cute, great, read.

Wow, fairy tales gone wild. This is by far anything Walt Disney would come up with, nor is it the kind of tales we grew up wits as children. I love how these authors spun a Web of different tales into one mystical and magical read that had me reading it twice to catch all the little details I missed when I read it the first time. I love how love concurs all in this story and how love made up the story and made these phenomenal characters come to life. It's a really remarkable and refreshing read that will keep me wanting to go back for more. A highly recommended and fun read for all to enjoy.

I was initially intrigued by the unique plot this book advertised, but in reality it didn't work. The writing was choppy and cheesy, with many inconsistencies. The three bears were at times wrote savvy in speech and human knowledge and at other times were completely clueless; it was too inconsistent and made it look sloppy.
While I wouldn't recommend this book, I do feel that the author has written many other quality books.
