I read book one in the series and now book 3. I have realized that why some might say this is Romantic Suspense in all honestly it is 100% romance with very little suspense thrown in. Pretty much Brenda Jackson needed the characters to do something while they waited for the action to pick up so they have lots and lots of sex.
Locked in Tempatation closes the left open story lines from the other two books and hands readers what they want in a nice little red bow.
This line I even highlighted because it had me laughing so hard. I'm not sure it was meant to be funny but I couldn't help but roll my eyes and laugh.
“Relax, lover. I’m fine. I just have to go potty. I’ll be back.”
For those who love Brenda Jackson they will love this series but if you find you need more meat to your story just pass this series by.
Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for the advance Copy of this series

How to a create a heartbreaker ...

Just ask Brenda Jackson. Stonewall is a prime example. He's a protector from his larger than life personality to his wicked good looks. He's the ultimate bad boy. A man with his own demons to bare and the muscle to hold back the darkness that hovers around one special lady.

Joy is used to fighting her own battles. Her job is to help others and she does that with the ferocity of a lioness. What happens when the lioness finds herself on the receiving end of danger? She just may get more than she bargained for. Locked in Temptation dominates from beginning to end. Joy and Stonewall are a power couple. Every step pulled me further into this seductively written dance of danger.

Stonewall and Joy have been casually seeing each other for the last 6 months. Stonewall is a ex-con who has turned his life around. Joy is a Detective. Honestly, their ‘relationship’ annoyed me to no end. For the WHOLE book they kept going back and forth as to whether they are together or not. I was 90% into the book and they still weren’t sure if they are a couple or is this still casual. My goodness.

I truly didn’t feel any type of connection between the characters. There was so much back and forth it got extremely annoying. I’m still trying to figure out how Stonewall ‘made love’ to Joy throughout the whole story even though they weren’t a couple. That’s not love. It’s really good sex. I felt like their whole ‘relationship’ was based on sex and that’s not enough for me at all.

Anyway, I only continued with the story because the suspense part of the story held my attention. It was very refreshing and I loved the twist. Seeing everything unfold had me on the edge of my seat. The only downside was I felt the ending was a little rushed. This is the third book that I have read by this author and it’s safe to say her writing style isn’t for me.

Good conclusion to The Protectors series. There has been a connection between Joy and Stonewall since they met in Forged in Desire, but their work schedules have prevented them from even having a date. Stonewall was determined, however, and his chance finally came when he and Joy attended Margo and Striker's wedding. I loved how he went all out to impress her with an incredibly thoughtful and romantic event. It was no surprise that the attraction between them lit up like the Fourth of July.

As deep as their connection went, both Stonewall and Joy are wary of any kind of commitment. Stonewall doesn't believe in forever. He lost his parents and his grandfather in a short space of time when he was a youth. The pain of those losses has made him determined to keep his encounters emotion-free. Joy was engaged to a man who resented her career and the time she spent on it. Convinced that relationships are impossible for her, Joy only agreed to the occasional "diversion." I loved the development of their relationship. Though both believed it was simply physical at first, it was clear that the connection between them went much deeper. I loved how Stonewall's way of taking care of her made Joy feel cherished, without diminishing her independence and strength. At the same time, Stonewall's growing feelings for Joy made him reconsider his beliefs about forever. But it took nearly losing each other for them to realize the depth of their feelings. I loved the ending and seeing them open up to each other about their love.

I really liked both Stonewall and Joy. Stonewall turned his life around while in prison. I loved his commitment to helping others the same way that Seth Granger helped him. He is also a man with a kind and loving heart, which is easy to see in his relationships with his grandmother and sister. One of the things I liked best about him was his vocal support of Joy and her career. I loved the scene in the restaurant after her promotion and how he shut those men down. Joy was amazing. I loved her commitment to her work and the protectiveness she felt for the people. I loved how she didn't let the naysayers in the department get to her; she simply did what she did best and proved her worth. I loved how tenacious she was when it came to solving her cases.

The suspense of the story was very good. I loved how one new piece of information gave Joy the key to unlocking the mystery of the unidentified dead woman. Following Joy's investigation was fascinating as she put all the pieces together, trusting in her instincts as well as the clues. Getting the point of view of the various bad guys gave excellent insight into how convoluted the whole thing was. It was also interesting to see the connection between the surrogate scheme and the events of the first two books. The final confrontation was intense and had me on the edge of my seat until everyone was safe.

I loved seeing more of Striker and Margot, and Randi and Quasar. The strength of the friendship among the three men was fantastic. It was wonderful to see how they were always ready to back one another up if needed, but that they could also cut loose with some hilarious teasing. I also enjoyed seeing more of the Grangers and how they are doing since Seth's acquittal. The hospital scenes at the end were great.

I read this in two days and it took that long because I had to work. The third book in the Protector series was sensual and suspenseful. I really enjoyed reading the love story between Joy and Stonewall develop and watching as their characters grew into love. Their chemistry was off-the-charts. This was my favorite of the three although the other two were really good as well. Locked in Temptation tied up a lot of loose ends while having a strong and original storyline of its own.
Here are some of my favorite lines:
"Nothing stirs my blood more than a confident woman. A woman who knows how to take care of business and doesn't mind doing so."
"Any man who would plot someone else's downfall, especially a woman's, didn't deserve to be called a man."

I don’t know what to call this story romantic suspense, romantic thriller, romantic mystery, but what I know for sure it’s sensual, romantic and HOT!!!!

The main characters Stonewall Courson and Joy Ingram are dynamic – both work hard, love what they do, give their all to whatever assignment they’re involved with in their career, which leaves little time for a committed relationship. However their beautiful people who are attractive to one another and curious to see what lies beneath the beauty. Hence Locked in Temptation. Who’s going to make the first move – Stonewall!!!!! And boy does he! Whew! Stonewall works hard but when downtime comes he wants Joy. I have to say, he is a working girl's dream companion.

I won’t tell the story, but believe me, if you ‘re into a man making romantic gestures and promises; think about you all the time and wants to make your day better; don’t mind giving you pleasure in all areas of your mind, body and soul, then this is the story for you.

As a hardworking woman Joy’s in need of pleasure. Well – In walks Stonewall – I’m here!! And he’s most definitely is. You know the saying “joy comes to those who wait”. Wait no more!

This story has it all passion, drama, mystery, romance, sensuality, humor, well rounded and likeable characters that will excite and entertain you. Mrs. Jackson has written a very amusing story. It sizzles and pulls at your heartstrings at the same time, but the humor that’s weaved in, is what makes this story an enjoyable read.

Despite the slow start, this book was a page turner!! You could feel the heat of the chemistry between Joy and Stonewall and it was a treat watch their love grow. Brenda Jackson did an amazing job of weaving their love story into a tale of crime and cover ups. Stonewall was not only physically a man of any woman's dreams but the way that showered Joy with love and affection was beautiful. Despite her efforts to keep her wall up, Joy had to eventually give in to not only being loved, but to love in return. It was a very intimate and thrilling experience and I was not ready for the book to end. Great job Brenda!!!!

Brenda Jackson can weave a tale with the best of them. I found the book entertaining, but not as good as the first in the series. Don't let that deter you from buying and reading the books.

The story was ok. I usually enjoy her books. It got to long winded in the middle . There were too many grammar errors.

Having been hurt by love in the past, Joy Ingram has put all her time into being a brilliant police detective. However, she's never had such an undeniable connection to a man before, and so she finds it hard to stay away from Stonewall Courson. Yet, her job has always come first and that's not going to change, especially when she's tasked with investigating the murder of a woman that she discovers was part of an underground surrogate baby-making ring. Will Joy find the people responsible, or will the threat she poses to bringing down the ringmasters put her in danger she may not be able to get out of?

This is the first book I've read by Ms. Jackson and the first I've read in this series, but once I finished it, I have plans to read the previous books of this series, as the secondary characters were just as intriguing as the main ones and the dialogue was intense and gave me -- as a reader -- a good dose of knowledge in what the secondary characters have had to overcome to be together. The way this story started had me enjoying both the main characters, especially the hero, as he has plans that consist of getting the long-awaited date he wants with the heroine. Will their night go uninterrupted? Will the heroine agree to the heroine's plan or will he have to use whatever means necessary to get a date with Joy?

As for the dialogue, it was intense due to the main characters back stories and Joy's investigation into the murder of a woman that was part of an underground surrogate baby-making ring. Will she find the answers she's looking for? What danger will she face the more invested she becomes in her investigation? Moreover, the dialogue wasn't only told from the points-off-view of the hero and heroine, but also some of the secondary characters.

Both the main characters were fantastic and I loved every moment they conversed, because this couple bring out the best in each other. Furthermore, Joy is smart, tenacious and I liked that she took a chance on Stonewall, even though her last relationship has left her wary of ever giving happy ever after a chance. While Stonewall, I loved the ways he convinced Joy to give him a chance, most especially what he did at the beginning to get her to finally go on a first date with him. He's confident and I liked how protective he was of the heroine, even though she's tough enough to fight her own battles when it comes to arrogant men that believe she shouldn't have gotten the promotion she did and going up against the people running the surrogate baby-making ring. I also liked the tight friendships he shared with the secondary characters and how they teased him when it came to his relationship with Joy. It's palpable they want Stonewall to find the kind of happiness they've all found and it's obvious that Joy makes him happy. Yet, what I liked most of all about the hero is how he's managed to overcome his past and that Joy was willing to take a chance on him, even though he's been on the other side of the law.

Overall, Ms. Jackson has penned a thrilling read in this book where the chemistry between this couple was explosive; the romance full of exquisite heat and passion that did justice to this couple's intense chemistry; and the ending had me on the edge-of-my-seat with what Joy faces to get justice for the victims of the baby-making ring. However, it was how things turned out between Stonewall and Joy that I really loved, because after what they go through at the end, there's no way that either can deny how they truly feel for each other anymore. I would recommend Locked in Temptation by Brenda Jackson, if you enjoy romantic suspense, the friends to lovers trope or books by authors Maisey Yates, Maya Banks, Katie Reus and Susan Stoker.

Review of Locked in Temptation (The Protectors) – Brenda Jackson
Customer rating 4.5/5.0
August 20, 2017 by Deborah A. Fortner
CONCEPT
Bodyguard and police detective are trying to start a relationship in the midst of a deadly conspiracy.
STORY
Police detective Joy Ingram's connection to elite security expert Stonewall Courson is instant. Undeniable. Electric.
But her commitment to protect and serve has always come first. Everything else is secondary—especially when she
uncovers an underground surrogate baby-making ring. Joy can't risk a distraction during the most important case of
her career, not even one as sexy as reformed ex-con Stonewall.
There are few things Stonewall values more than a strong woman. But when Joy's investigation draws her into a
deadly conspiracy that goes deeper than she ever imagined, he must convince her that he's the best man to protect
her. And while he puts his life on the line to save hers, the insatiable attraction between them becomes the one
danger neither of them can escape.
CHARACTERS
Joy Ingram and Stonewall Courson have been trying to hook up since they eyes on each other in book 1 of Mrs.
Jackson’s Protector Series. The attractive between these two is apparent and because of their jobs it has been
difficult to pursue a relationship. Stonwall being a man of action and going after what he wants will resort to
kidnapping if necessary to spend time with Joy. Joy is portrayed as a smart, strong and independent female who can
take care of herself but has doubted herself since the last relationship. She is also trying to prove to her family that
going into the police force was not a whim and that she did not want to be in her father’s shadow.
DIALOGUE
The dialogue of the story flowed and fell in line with the plot.
STRUCTURE
The structure of the story was well crafted and will have readers turning the pages to see how Stonewall and Joy’s
relationship blossoms.
OVERALL
Locked in Temptation was the third book in the Protector series and it was a good read. Readers had been waiting
for Stonewall and Joy’s story and what a story it was. These two finally found their way to get that first date and oh
what a date it was…..explosive. Of course what is the Protector installment without a bit of mystery and this Joy is
the target. Stonewall is determined protect Joy at all cost and in the process convince her they are meant to be
together. Overall loved this story.

Oh, be still my beating heart!
If this is not the most seductive, sensual, passionate, and intimate love story that I have ever read, then I don't know what is... The words, and scenes, they just flow off the pages like hot, sweet molasses, and it is beautiful, sexy, and appealing. Yet the story of the emotions and feelings growing between Stonewall Courson and his detective are the focus of the story, the meaning behind the lush scenes, the reason for the passion, an important part of the plot, as those scenes show how these two commitment phobics, relationship avoiders fumble their way to each other's hearts.
Joy Ingram is a kick-ass heroine, I admired her, respected her, and liked her. She is capable and able, she is hard working, honorable, and smart. She has her challenges at the police force, but she does not go against them with fists flobbing but showing everyone around her what she is capable of.
Stonewall Courson fell instantly for his Joy in the Morning six months ago. Thier lives and careers have kept them from acting upon the attraction, yet when the opportunity finally arises, Stonewall goes all in to impress Joy. He is just... delicious. Tough, yet sweet, big yet gentle, honest, caring, mature, beautiful man, that I fell for completely. I love it when the characters act and think in a mature manner and when the obstacles on their way are not something they necessarily cost themselves but the environment around them.
The story has elements of suspense and mystery mixed with the succulent romance giving it an extra kick of spiciness with the action.
Prepare to get all the feelings from this story and let it fill your senses because Stonewall and Joy surely deliver and make up for the lost time they had, waiting to find their ways to each other's arms.

Well, it's now 3-28-21 and I'm trying to write this review so ...

So this isn't so much a spoiler as my bad memory so ...

Ah - this is the one with the woman running from the place and dying in the woods ... later being found - and it all O_o somehow ties together?
:X and the tiny drone thing?

I ... remember the [pharmacist?] and O_o not much else detail?
Bodies dropping like flies still though.

I read in one of the reviews it's very "will they won't they/are they even together?" which :X makes sense cuz I know he takes her on a fabulous destination date.
[Low key I was like "the fuel! the environmental impact!!" but yeah it's fiction and also white people have gotten to do that forever with no flak AND this book was probably written well before those so...]

but honestly :X otherwise, I remember VERY LITTLE about ~anything.
I know he goes to pick her up at the station and it's a big to do/he saves her life.
But ...

Can't remember how it all resolves other than the cabin part and I kinda think it was a set up for another series?

Definitely I can't wait for the guys' boss's story ...

But I can't remember a rating or grade; I'd say C range though...

Stonewall Courson was an ex-con who had beat the odds. It took someone believing in him like Sheppard Granger and he became successful. It starts off with wedding Striker and Margo another couple from the protector series. Stonewall wanted to impress Joy Ingram he took her to Martha vineyard after 6 months of waiting due to their work schedule. And getting to know each other Joy Ingram and Stonewall Courson ended becoming lovers it lead to other things. Joy Ingram still had insecurities about relationship due to the fact that her ex-fiancee Omar resent her career choice of detective with law enforcement. That why her and Stonewall Courson relationship start off as a no string attached affair. Joy Ingram work hard and took her job seriously she was recommended by her police chief of Charlottesville to become a lieutenant she got some resistance from her co-worker some felt she didn't deserve because of her father chief of police in Baton Rouge. Hi was working on a murder case was regarding a pregnant woman found in the middle of no where without any identify. Under covered a illegal surrogate ring forcing pregnant women to have babies for couples who couldn't have children. It was sad Mandy Clay the sister of famous reality tv star found out about her sister. This book had so many twists and turns and plenty of passion filled scenes . You could really relate to Joy Ingram and Stonewall Courson characters. It was a race against time to solve the case and reintroduced us to the Grangers and the protector series.

This the story of the last of the Protectors - Stonewall. Just like his name Stonewall was a force to be reckoned with, however, he met his match in his Joy. Joy Ingram was a detective who had followed in the Law enforcement path as her father. Joy was set on her career but had a liking to the sexy Stonewall. On their first date, Stonewall blew her mind and her back out. Martha's Vineyard was the setting but her house was the place.
We get caught up with the Grangers and the other protectors and solve the mystery of a woman found frozen to death after giving birth to an unknown baby.
Answers are found as our resident problem solver aids in a puzzle that had been left from before..The dead yet are speaking..
Follow the heat and follow the dead bodies as Joy and Stonewall find out that a diversion can lead to so much more...
Great read Mrs. Jackson, thank you for bringing the heat in this book...

It was a good book, but much like the previous book, I was tripped up by the inconsistencies, even the small ones like nobody knowing Dalton and Jules were having twins, not even Dalton. I know for a fact that Jules announced the twins in Shep and Carson's book and Dalton tried to throw it in everybody's face that he'd created two babies to their one. Also, Joy is said to not really have girlfriends, just her sister and her mother, well, if you read Entangled Pursuits you find out that she does have a really good friend who is one of her bridesmaids who's named Toni. I'm not sure how so many things slipped through the cracks with this series but the inconsistencies definitely slowed everything down for me. However, the slow burn of this book was what I liked most, nothing happened quickly, it was just two people dating and figuring it out while one of them tried to solve a crime.

Action packed with all the spirit and passion

Mrs Jackson really put her foot into this story for Stonewall and Joy, dare I say this was the best of the three protector series stories. It had everything, great plot and character development. It intrigued me from beginning to the end. The romance between Joy and Stonewall wasn't overly done. Loved how the Grangers were interwoven into the story. Joy was a bad mother such your mouth. Her ability to work her cases was just what was needed. She truly was Stonewall equal. Stonewall was fiercely loyal and supportive to Joy. He definitely showed that chivalry was alive and well. I can go on and on but I will say one last thing. The massage scene was red hot. Good job.

I want more

I am really enjoying this series I do not want it to end. Joy take no prisoners detective only have time for her job. Her ex-boyfriend didn't approve of her work. Stonewall did not believe in forever love. He has always had a thing for "his detective" as his friends Striker and Quasar called Joy. After one night of passionate Sex will they both change their opinions about lo e and relationships. Please do a book on Roland Summers as he is another that don't think there will be another Love for him. Maybe he can hook up with Dr. Lowell the medical examiner. Also do a book on Taren the technical genius at the police department, and Andrew Logan another one of Shep young men. And don't forget about Dakota (Dak) Navarro. So many more stories.

I loved every love story in the protector series, so "Locked in Temptation" was no different. I knew from back to Striker and Margo's story that Joy and Stonewall would eventually get together. His idea of a first date was definitely worth the six month wait! Even though neither one of them believed in forever, they had to come to the realization that they would be together forever. The story line was very exciting with the fake surrogacy going around, finding out who actually killed Erickson from Margo and Striker's story, to reading about a truly erotic/romantic Stonewall...Joy couldn't resist!!! Awesome read and I do hope that Roland Summers get a story as well because he deserves to find happiness like Shepard and the rest of the protectors!

Joy in the morning

How apropos. She was his joy, but he was her diversion. I was so angry in the beginning because wanted her way...very masculine. At first, I d or she was not feminine enough for a fine strong brother like Stonewall. Another i was dissappointed in was Stone wall didn't have as much action as his fellow protectors. I kept waiting for him to be more active in her work as well as Randi. But I am glad they got to the love relationship and the action. There is no way Ms. Jackson cannot give us story on Roland. I think the new ME would be a great one to pair him with. Please Ms. Jackson, if you nasty......hahaha.

Third in The Protectors series, it's full of hot sexy dialogue and action as Detective Joy Ingram seeks to solve a crime that becomes more convoluted with each new murder. Helping her "get a life" when not working is security expert and former con Stonewall Courson.

Neither are interested in commitment, but their sexual attraction is too much to ignore, so... they act on it and boy, do they act on it.

Being separated because of their respective job responsibilities makes them think, but only when each of them is threatened with death do they come to their senses and realize that they're better and happier together rather than apart. But will they act on that realization?

Stonewall Courson and Joy Ingram are an unequivocal, true match made for one another. There were sparks that flew when they first came into contact with each other. Their actual first date turned into a love that neither one of them expected and were willing to admit until death looked them in the face. This couple is the true epitome of alpha male and alpha woman. They are both strong individuals, guarded at times, and extremely passionate. This story will take you on a rollercoaster ride and there are a number of characters who are intertwined with one another which makes for a suspenseful journey. Happy Reading!

Brenda Jackson has done it again! This series of The Protectors was oh so good and this 3rd book was so good I could not put it down and savored the sizzling relationship of Joy Ingram and Stonewall Jackson. Loved the police detective and ex-con together; they have relationship issues from the past but when they finally go on a first date---neither can deny they are "locked in temptation" and when they do something about it; wow! I also liked the mystery Joy delves into when one of her murder cases reveals a baby ring, kidnapping, and a conspiracy that involves many influential people. Can't wait to read another of her romances!

The very beginning was interesting. Then, when introduced to the two main characters, I feel slightly disappointed. The flashbacks did not help. The story continued into a thrilling page turning story, that the sex scenes did not disrupt. Finding the way two cases by Lt. Joy and bodyguard Stonewall meld into one was very interesting. I also loved the comeuppance of so-called ladies-men (in their eyes) in the story. Yes, some of it was predictable, but the enjoyment of the solving of crimes, what it takes to lead a homicide squad (balance), introducing new technology and of course accepting love, make this book worth reading. Bravo Ms. Jackson!

I really liked how Stonewall and Joy acted when with each other:
Concern furrowed his brow. “You okay? Do I need to run hot bathwater for you to soak for a while?”
She reached up and patted his chin. “Relax, lover. I’m fine. I just have to go potty. I’ll be back.”
I loved being inside Stonewall's mind, “umm, what time will you have to miss me? You’re be all wrapped up protecting the socialite.” Was that a twinge of jealousy he heard in her voice? He hoped not because there was no reason." I really enjoyed this book.

I really enjoyed this book, from it's well developed characters to it's action packed suspenseful storyline.

Brenda Jackson's wonderfully unique writing style drew me in right from the beginning and wouldn't let me go till the very end. This is my first book from this series and I did find it can be read as a standalone but after this I'll definitely be going back to book 1.

If you're looking for an action-packed romance than I recommend reading this book, or better yet, start from the beginning like I'm going too. ^_^
