It's just too repetitive with the bog girl stuff. So basically, they always try something new to stop the bog girl. And of course, right at the end, they get on a canoe and grab the bog girl by luring the creature in a net. And they wait for the mud to dry up so she crumbles and later scattering her remains everywhere even on the road where later they end up going home at the end and starts raining where the bog girl comes to life again.
"So She Never Dies Basically"
Island was helpfully described, but nothing new throughout the story. Just boring!

This is hands down the best monster and the most fun book of Shivers Summer. Creepy, gross, inventive, and not just another transparent kid in colonial cosplay. M. D. Spenser keeps the kids in danger without crossing into, you know, scalping, cannibal feasts or hot wax showers. Suspense, action, a slime girl from the wetlands, it’s everything you want.

Good fun, the descriptions of the island were well done. One of the better entries in the series.
