From the time I could put a Disney Book cassette into my little stereo, and read along, books have held a fantastic distraction. When I was eleven, I decided I wanted to be one of those magical people that brought stories to life. Devouring a book a day sometimes, my first romance novel stuck with me. I've always been a sucker for a happy ending (and the great romantic gesture)and that's what I try to put into my stories. I am so honored to be a part of Avon, and am so excited to have my own dreams coming true.
This was ok but I enjoyed the first book more. This story just seemed to repeat things from the first book and was too similar - two male love interests, H flittering between the two - and didn't have the spark in the relationships the first book had.

AudioBook Review Stars: Overall 4 Narration 4 Story 4
Bear Mountain is a fire and rescue station with a small-town feel and plenty of people to amuse. Penelope Davis lives there and runs the bar: all of her brothers have moved on from the mountain to join the military, and the only man she’s ever thought of in ‘that way’ just doesn’t see her the same. She’s decided that the offer of a job that will take her away from Bear Mountain is the best option for her heart. With a despicable man-grabber in town who is constantly working to put her down and decry her ‘lack of femininity’ being the cause of her single state. So Penny is finding Bear Mountain a bit difficult and her options, even with the influx of new firefighters, aren’t looking too broad.
Hunter Gracin is an ER doctor who enjoys his work, the town, and has not made a move toward Pen, mostly because he thinks she won’t be interested in more than just a fling. He’s not a fling sort of guy: he wants more, and he won’t take a chance to not be enough to keep her.
I adore Cody Gary’s characterizations: they arrive fully formed, with little tidbits dropping in to show readers just how they think, and get a view into their own issues and concerns, and even their dreams. Here we see Pen who wants a relationship and that love, even as she fobs off the often habitual attempts from men who are clearly not her type. She’s set her cap for Hunter, even if he’s parked her (she thinks) purely in the friend zone, and that’s not what she wants. But, side from showing up and declaring herself to him, she’s not thinking she has a chance. In Hunter’s case, he’s got feelings for Pen, stronger now that her brothers are gone and he can grab quiet-ish moments with her at the bar. But, he knows she’s looking for a job away from Bear Mountain, and it doesn’t seem to him that she’s interested in more than just a fling.
These two are adorable together – and when Hunter takes that chance, sparks fly! Dialogue and chemistry is off the chains adorable, and their interactions are sweet. Hunter’s softer side is wonderful: he wants to give Pen the ability to fly, even if it means he’s left behind. Pen hadn’t great dreams of leaving Bear Mountain, not truly, but retreat seemed the best option to open her horizons. But, staying where she’s comfortable just might be the answer. A sweet chocolate box sort of listen, the story is full of laughs, smiles and hope.
Narration for this story is provided by Zoe Hunter and she presented the story with the sort of openness and smiles that I hoped for. Pen was given that slight tone of little sister that takes no guff, Hunter was the calm and competent, good humored and well-mannered man who’s caring nature shines through. Hunter presented this story without rushing, and she enjoyed the dialogue: it was easy to hear her smile and enjoyment in the reading. Keeping interest and presenting characters with clear and unique voices, tones and pacing that added auditory intrigue that fit with both the story and the people.
I received an AudioBook copy of the title from Hachette Audio for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.
A short and sweet love triangle romance story. I love coming back to Bear Mountain for the beautiful town and quirky cast of characters. I hope to read more Bear Mountain love stories soon.
A short but sweet love triangle. Penny has had feelings for Hunter for years. Trent is newer to town and has a flirty relationship with Penny. Hunter feels like he is to old for Penny because he is ready to settle down and start a family.
This was short but really kind of sweet. This is the second in the Bear Mountain series. If and when there are other books in the series, I will definitely give them a read.
Penny Davis has had a crush on Dr. Hunter Gracin for years but he sees her as young and irresponsible. He’s looking for someone he can settle down with and have a family and she works in the local bar. It’s up to a flirty firefighter to show Hunter what he’s missing and for him to realize the person he’s been looking for has been here all along. Cute love story.
I couldn't put this book down I know it's a short story, but my goodness this book gave me life, I love these types of romance novels, this book made me blush, and made me laugh so much! Love love
