Sexy Lies and Rock & Roll

From NYT Bestselling author, Sawyer Bennett, comes a SEXY new stand alone romance…

When you’re a rock god, fame and fortune are your two best friends, but they can be fickle bitches. Everyone wants a piece of me and I have no clue how to deal with it all. I’m being sued, pressured to sign contracts, and fending off rabid women who want to steal my virtue.

Well, not that I really have any virtue, but still… my life has turned completely bat-shit crazy.

That’s why I need Emma Peterson. She got me out of a bit of a jam once, and I know she can do it again. The only problem is that sweet, prim and totally straight-laced Emma doesn’t want anything to do with me. Not professionally, and certainly not personally.

It’s not that I want her in that way. Let’s be realistic… it would take a crow bar of epic proportions to get her to spread those legs for me.

No, I only want her legal expertise and for her to make sense of my crazy world. It’s a good thing I have just the leverage to make her do my bidding, because her refusal is not an option.

*Sexy Lies and Rock & Roll is a hot, romantic comedy stand alone.

If you are looking for a sweet and sexy opposites attract story, look no further, because Sawyer Bennett delivered exactly that with this enjoyable read . 'Sexy Lies and Rock&Roll' was an enjoyable read overall and even if I found the story line to be a little predictable, I had fun reading these characters’ story.

“I had no idea what a conceited, egotistical jerk your are—”
“Better than the prissy, straight-laced wanna-be lawyer—”
“You asshole.”

Evan Scott is a rock god who loves what he does for a living. However, he hates the fact that everyone wants a piece of him. Since he has some copyrights issues with his previous band colleagues, Evan is in need of a lawyer, and he needs one as soon as possible. When Evan meets Emma, a stuck up lawyer his aunt sent to represent him, he’s totally indifferent about her, but as soon as he realizes she can stand up for herself just fine, he become intrigued wanting to know everything there is to know about her.

“She’s magnificent, and it makes me wonder what else she’s hiding under that little shell of goody-two-shoes armor she wears. And for some fucking weird reason, I like the fact I’m the one who’s got her panties in a twist.

Emma knows who Evan Scott is and she wants to help him, but not necessarily because he cares what happens with him. In order to get her dream job, she must help the infuriating rock star, so she’s determined to do anything to accomplish that, even join him on a tour and work for him and with him for a while.

“I love how I can play this body as easily as I can play my guitar. And you know what, Emma love… the sounds you make when you come are as beautiful as the music I make.”

'Sexy Lies and Rock & Roll' was sweet, sexy and overall more lighthearted than I had anticipated. The angst and drama were very low and while the story line, like I mentioned above, was predictable, I found this one to be a pretty enjoyable read.

The two main characters were well portrayed and likeable for the most part, especially our sexy rock star, Evan. Evan was a little of a bad boy, but very sexy, fun and charismatic. Even if at the beginning was kind of an a$$ with our heroine, as the story unfolded he showed his sweet and caring side numerous times. Despite being a douchebag, I liked Evan a lot. He was sexy and possessive and I liked how slowly but surely, he gets Emma out of her shell. I simply loved the process. It was entertaining as hell, especially since they are so different from each other.

Emma, to be honest was not my kind of heroine at all. She was so judgmental with Evan, I admit, only at first, but her behavior towards him at times just pissed me off. She also was kind of naïve and immature an also insecure at times; in other words exactly how I don’t like the heroines I’m reading about to be. Also, the way she handled some things as the story unfolded made me roll me eyes and want to slap her senseless. Needless to say, I wasn’t too impressed by her character. I liked that eventually she realized Evan is different, that in some strange way he might be just perfect for her, that sometimes, exploring life can be a good thing. She was smart and tenacious, which I liked, but these qualities weren’t enough for me to love her.

I think my favorite aspect of the story was the chemistry between these two characters. The author did a fantastic job regarding the connection/chemistry between them, which was palpable and off the charts hot. These two were sweet and sexy together and even if I didn’t connect with our heroine too much, I loved these two as a couple. Mainly because I felt they were good for each other. I really enjoyed their flirty, sexy interactions.

The ending was sweet, but everything was a little too rushed for my liking. So obviously, I was a little disappointed because I really expected something more. Also, the miscommunication between the two main characters as some point into the story annoyed me to no end.

I enjoyed some supporting characters and I found them to be well portrayed and engaging, like Midge and Emma’s father and I liked their role in Evan and Emma's story.

Overall, a sweet, sexy, low in angst romantic comedy!

5 ROCKSTAR ROYALTY CROWNS

Sawyer Bennett has done it again! Sexy Lies & Rock and Roll is absolutely everything readers have come to love about her stories. With its highly entertaining plot, lovable characters, and fantastic writing, this book sits among my favorite Sawyer Bennett novels.

With the exception of the antagonist of the book, there is not one character in this book that I didn’t love. Every single person, even Emma’s dog is just simply fabulous and provided endless entertainment and laughs for the reader and bring layers to the main plot of the book.

Emma, the heroine of the story, is very unlike most heroines in a Sawyer Bennett novel. She is beautiful, but unaware of her beautify and incredibly smart, but she lacks confidence and is incredibly introverted and often unsure of how to act in social situations. These aspects of her character should be annoying, but I found them to be endearing, probably because the hero finds these aspects of her personality attractive, resulting in the reader’s perception of her to be influenced by his point-of-view. She struggles throughout the book with feeling adequate and worthy, and while some of her behavior, particularly at the end of the book is frustrating, it once again aligns with how Sawyer Bennett develops her as a character. If she would have reacted in any other way, there would have been inconsistencies in her characterization, so I was ultimately okay with her reaction to the big reveal. The one aspect that readers will like about her is that she has her limits. Even though at times she is a push-over or seems meek, when she hits her limit, there is fire in her, and these are some of my favorite moments.

Evan, the hero and rock star of the story, is completely swoon-worthy with his heart of gold and dirty as sin mouth. This man is absolutely everything that I love in a hero. He is loyal and dedicated to the people he cares about, he is into music for the sake of the music, not the fame, he is incredibly attractive with the perfect balance of confidence and arrogance, and the dirty mouth on this man will set readers on fire. His chase of and determination to win over Emma will have readers falling in love with his brand of romance, which just happens to have a slight edge of alpha tendencies. Readers will also love the way that he accepts Emma the way she is and loves her for it. Her acknowledges her introverted and insecure parts of who she is, but also sees the person she is underneath, and he never tries to push her for more or to change. He is one of my favorite Sawyer Bennett heroes to date.

Sexy Lies & Rock and Roll is an incredibly entertaining and romantic story. From the very first chapters, readers will oppositesattractbe engaged with the plot, and the interest between the two characters is clear. Even If their set-up isn’t the most ideal of situations, the chase begins here, when Emma exposes the fire she suppresses daily. His intrigue in her starts their journey and his chase, and readers will thoroughly enjoy the journey with their banter, their interactions, and their encounters in the bedroom. There are parts of the plot that are predictable; however, that did not stop me from reading through my fingers because I just couldn’t bear to watch it all unfold. It hurt to watch, and that heart-twisting climax did not have a lower impact just because I saw it coming. Additionally, the resolution wrap-ups quickly, but Sawyer Bennett brings the story full circle, and the way she ends the story is the way the story began. As a result, the end of the story seems to complete the tale while staying true to the characters and the development of their relationship. These little areas, however, do not detract from the over-all entertainment of the plot, as I couldn’t stop turning the pages and devoured this book in one day.

Sawyer Bennett is hands down a go-to writer for me. I love her heroes, her heroines, and her stories that are filled with the perfect blend of sweet and dirty, and Sexy Lies & Rock and Roll is no different than what I have come to love about her books. This is another must read for her fans, and if you are new to her, this is perfect place to start, so make sure you one-click this highly entertaining romance today!

 photo Sexy Lies and RockampRoll - Sawyer Bennett_zpsgiy0vpsy.png

If you’ve been following me for the past year, you may know that I fell in love with Sawyer Bennett’s writing when I read her Sugar Bowl series. Well, I got so excited when she announced a new standalone novel featuring a sexy rock star! And it was a pretty good read, I have to say!

Sexy Lies and Rock & Roll is, as I said, a standalone story introducing Evan Scott (a playboy and new rock star that is starting a tour and is in need of a lawyer for several copyright problems with his previous band colleagues) and Emma Peterson (a woman who wants to get her desired and boring job and everything changes when she meets and is forced to follow the hot hero).

She’s magnificent, and it makes me wonder what else she’s hiding under that little shell of goody-two-shoes armor she wears. And for some fucking weird reason, I like the fact I’m the one who’s got her panties in a twist.

This was definitely different from my other reads by Sawyer. Sexy Lies and Rock & Roll is on the lighter side of storytelling. This a love story with light drama, a predictable plot and engaging characters. I am not complaining at all since I enjoy these kinds of books! I really enjoyed reading how the famous Evan Scott falls in love with this supposed boring lawyer!

One minute, we’re fighting, and the next, we’re engaged in the most sensuously epic kiss of my life. It was no-holds barred. It was carnal.
It was so dirty.

The main characters feel a strong connection towards each other since the beginning. Emma wants to focus in her job but it’s inevitable, she cannot control her feelings for Evan. Evan wants to enjoy his tour and wants to have his way with Emma. And boy he does! While he did not expect to fall in love with her, these two gave us lots of sexy times! I can definitely assure this book is super hot!

“I am going to do filthy things to you, Emma. You’re not going to know whether to beg me to stop or to keep going.”

“I love how I can play this body as easily as I can play my guitar. And you know what, Emma love… the sounds you make when you come are as beautiful as the music I make.”

I love light reads. They are my kind of thing. I enjoy some dark and cry baby books from time to time too but Sexy Lies was a great in-between story to read! However, I have to say some things I did not enjoy as much: Evan’s behavior at the start of the book or how Emma is so insecure about herself. And the ending.. I liked it but it felt a little bit rushed to me. Still, since I connected with the story and the characters, it was a good reading experience for me!

“I want you. Completely. In every way a man could want a woman.”

Therefore, my rating for Sexy Lies and Rock & Roll is 4 STARS because, as I said, I always enjoy well-written, sexy and light stories. I love Sawyer’s writing and I cannot wait to see what is next for her and for us! So, if you want to read a story about a sexy rocker falling in love, I totally recommend this one!

3.5 Still Waters Run Deep Stars
* * *1/2 Spoiler Free It's Live!!
We know all the cliches about not judging a book by its cover, etc...Well, that is also true when we meet people for the first time. They may seem a particular way... dress a button down style...and think they are very controlled...but if the circumstances are right and the situation taps into a hidden part of the personality exposing all the passion and fight this person has been holding back....Then watch out...because it will throw all the assumptions out the window.

Sawyer Bennett has taken this premise and created Emma Peterson; a woman who thought she knew exactly her career goal. She was working to make sure she achieved it. As a new attorney, she had not received any offers in the field she wished, Research. Instead she finally took a position at her father's firm which was nothing she was comfortable with...It reflected his big personality. He was a brilliant courtroom attorney and his partner, Midge, was equally impressive. This practice was a hub of action and noise... everything that made Emma uncomfortable.

She appreciated the position and vowed to do her job so that she could then land a position in a very conservative practice doing serious research, dissecting contracts and laws. She just needed to put her head down and do her time.

Unfortunately, Midge had something else in mind. This formidable woman was someone who had made a name for herself in her profession. She didn't get to the top of her field without breaking traditions in the legal Ole Boys Network. She showed them she was capable and would not be intimidated.

Life takes a turn when Emma is called into Midge's office. Quite shaken, Emma has no idea as to why she would rate a meeting with Midge As she enters and sits in the chair opposite this dynamic woman, Emma can feel her heart beating a mile a minute. Midge looks up from the papers she was scanning and informs Emma she needs to go to the police station and represent Evan Scott, an up and coming Rock Star accused of a serious crime. Emma blanches and immediately explains she is not qualified to do this... it is too much. She suggests there are others in the firm better suited for this.

The look Midge directs at Emma causes her words to stop in her throat. Midge informs her she is doing this. Midge asks... Did you past the bar... Did you study criminal law and the rights associated with it...knowing Emma did with honors. Her way of questioning Emma illustrated to Emma how prepared she was for this task. With that, Midge dismisses her and sends her on her way.

Evan Scott is in a difficult position. He has been living life on the road and experiencing all the perks and problems of being an independent, up and coming artist. He had been part of a band started when all of the guys had been young . They became popular and interest had started go grow. Evan was the composer and lyricist writing the music. The band was like a band of brothers for him. Unfortunately, when fame and money started to show its ugly head...conflicts rose.

Evan left the band and started his own path as a solo artist. His success was immediate and the tour he just finished was a huge success. What wasn't a success was his personal life...it was empty and the only real thing in it was his Aunt Midge. Growing up, she was the one who became his family. Both of them were big personalities... and loved each other fully. He was always there for her...and she for him. When he found himself in a scary legal situation, he called her right away for help. What she did, though, was not what he expected at all...

Who was this mouse she set to bail me out...This is the attorney she sends...
Oh, Hell No...This buttoned up little woman can't possibly be capable and able to fight for me...

Emma walked in the interview room and fought all the fandom she had for this Rock God... she needed to focus on the facts and figure out how to extradite him from this situation. Right from the start, Evan started off on the wrong pompous foot...and after a few barbs, Emma told Evan where he could go and started packing up her briefcase...She would be damned, quit her job and eat instant ramen noodles for years before she would let anyone doubt her ability or talk to her that way...

WOW... What just happened to the mouse...She became this passionate, fantastic woman...Evan was shutdown and intrigued... He apologized for his outbursts and sincerely asked for Emma to stay and represent him. Emma looked at this man... saw he meant it... returned from the door and did her job.

Days later, Emma is called into Midge's office again. This time Evan is sitting there and explains he needs her assistance. Emma is a confused as all of his legal issues she worked on had been dismissed due to the arguments she presented. Evan smiles and explains he has another situation she needs to assist. He had copyright issues; he is being sued by past band mates. He needs a PR person to handle all of this and she would be the perfect person to handle all of it while he does his next tour.

Emma listens and immediately says, Ah Thanks But No Thanks... Evan then plays dirty promising if Emma does this project... his Aunt Midge will guarantee the position she wants with any top notch conservative practices she picks to start her Research Legal career. The carrot is too dear for Emma to turn down...so reluctantly, she says yes...

But Big Problem...
Our Legal Gal forgot the first rule of negotiation...get all the details...
Evan informs her after she has agreed to work for him, she will be touring on the road with him...on his BUS!

GAH!!!!

This is the classic premise of cat and mouse...with Evan purposely wanting to bed this uptight woman who showed her hidden inner spark when bickering with him...He wants to bring out that tiger... hear her roar when he beds her... and that is his initial plan. Oh, he also does respect her abilities; she saved his ass after all. He knows she is talented and what he likes best is her honesty... she has no agenda except his interests. She gives him all the details... lays the pros and cons on the contracts presented to him...without giving of her opinion of which way to go.

We go on this journey of our Rock Star realizing there is more to Emma then a sexual conquest...Emma also learns there is more to her then this conservative reluctant mouse.... She is Woman, hear her Roar.

This had all the quality writing Bennett is known for...lots of sexy times and banter; however..I sensed exactly what was going to happen very soon. When it did, my annoyance didn't ruin the read... just took a bit of the overall glow away.

What I did appreciate was Evan. His Rock Star was the type all could respect. He was a purest and luckily had the financial foundation to not let any fame or promised fortune corrupt him. He believed in loyalty and was loyal to those who had been with him from the start...in other words, we would like him even if he wasn't a star. Also, he wore his sex appeal well...He also was willing to feel fully and would say what he was feeling in the moment. Yum.

Emma, as smart as she was, had a different journey. She had to see herself with different eyes... and realize she was more than the knowledge she held in her head... she was flesh and blood and passionate about more then just the law. When she let go... she thrived. She did have some serious insecurities... which cause misunderstandings...but in the end she saw her way clear to the bright side.

This was published as a stand alone. Ms. Bennett has so many tricks up her sleeve, I wouldn't be surprised is she decided to do a catch up novella on these two ...or move on to something else. When it comes to Sawyer Bennett, I have no worries...her crafting, imagination and writing always makes her a auto-click for me....She just needs to keep them coming.

~~~~~ Before Reading ~~~~~
It's not enough a new indie music star has to handle the usual price of fame...
Now he has to worry any misstep could lead to legal pitfalls...He has figured out the answer, though...
A secret weapon...
A lawyer smart enough to get things done...
Only one little hiccup...
He would like to get her done... and done and done by him all night...
Here's hoping he gets to see more then her legal briefs...
Another fantabulously fun and sexy read by Sawyer Bennett!
All Emma Peterson ever wanted after graduating law school and passing the bar was to hide behind a stack of boring contracts. In order to get her dream job though, she must first help out with a lawsuit and a few music contracts pertaining “the” Evan Scott. Rock God and general pain in her derriere. Can she survive going on tour with him long enough to get the job she always thought she wanted or the rock star change her outlook?
“I had no idea what a conceited, egotistical jerk your are—”
“Better than the prissy, straight-laced wanna-be lawyer—”
“You asshole.”
Fame and fortune is not all it’s cracked up to be. At least not for Evan Scott. Of course he loves that his music is being recognized by hoards of adoring fans, but the grievances by greedy ex-band mates, the pressure from big record labels and general lack of honesty can really get to a guy. So when the uninterested, goodie two shoes Emma is put in his path by his meddling aunt (Friction series) he not only takes notice he sets out to get her counsel and her heart.
“I can actually pinpoint the moment. It’s where she lost control and, in a sudden burst of anger, yelled at me... In that moment, she transformed from a woman of no consequence to me, to one who intrigued me very much. While I thought her beautiful in an understated way when I first saw her, she turned into an absolute temptress when she was riled up.”
Sawyer Bennett books have become a staple in my reading library. Her stories range from sports to erotic romances, but they all have one thing in common, they’re always a pleasure to read. This lighthearted, sweet and sexy, opposites attract romance about a charismatic rock star and unyielding lawyer hit the perfect spot for me.
“I love how I can play this body as easily as I can play my guitar. And you know what, Emma love… the sounds you make when you come are as beautiful as the music I make.”
Even though Evan doesn’t shy away from some of the perks of his celeb status he’s humble and genuine, and completely beguiled by miss prim and proper’s own authenticity and hidden fiery persona, so he sets out to crack her shell and push her limits. And while Evan is showing her how to be adventurous Emma, despite her insecurities, is sticking by him and looking out for his best interests.
They both have a hearts of gold and as they get to know one another while in the confines of a tour bus, the push and pull between them is fun, flirty and hot. Add a dash a drama and a loveable ginormous puppy and you get a delightful and appealing read that will make you smile, laugh and blush.
Sexy Lies and Rock & Roll is standalone contemporary romance by Sawyer Bennet. Written from both points of view with a happy ending.
Sawyer Bennett is one of those authors that can do it all. Romantic suspense, contemporary, erotica, you name it she can do it. And she does it all amazingly well so that's just a bonus. It's one of the reasons I'm a huge fan of hers and will read anything she writes.
In Sexy Lies and Rock & Roll she delivers the same brilliance that is in all of her other books, this time in the form of a sexy and free-spirited musician and his prim and proper lawyer. Evan isn't used to people telling him no, not when they all want something from him, so when the lawyer his aunt sends to get him out of jail stand up to him he's intrigued. Emma Peterson is the quiet bookworm type, but Evan brings out the fire in her and once he see's that passion, he's determined to get it all for himself.
In all honestly, I had a hard time opening up to Emma in the beginning. She just came off too proper and stuck-up, and I didn't like her judgy attitude. But Evan helped with that and I liked seeing him get her to open up and explore life outside of her law books. They were the complete opposite but that's what made reading about them together so interesting and their connection is what kept my focus on the story.
While the book still had the usual SB awesomeness, it was different from her other stories and took a sweeter turn than I was expecting. I liked that there was a cuteness to the book, especially when it was coming from Evan, but it left something to be desired. I just kept looking for that something more that would take this book from good to amazing and sadly I never found it.
Overall, I really enjoyed this story even with the few issues I had with Emma and I would definitely recommend it. Also, if for some reason you've been living under a rock for the past few years and haven't read anything from Sawyer Bennett than you definitely need to rectify that as soon as possible.
Two adjectives that describe Sawyer Bennett’s books: versatile and seductive. She does romantic suspense, romantic comedy, and erotica equally well. Sexy Lies and Rock & Roll is another feather in her talented cap.
This is an entertaining opposites attracts romance. Emma is a bookworm attorney who is prim, proper, and boring right down to her granny panties. Evan is a panty melting breakthrough indie rock star facing a variety of lawsuits. Everyone wants a piece of his billion dollar pie, and Emma is assigned to represent his legal interests while he’s on his first major tour. A month of sharing a tour bus together generates head butting, great banter, and opportunities for some very steamy sexy times. All the while, Evan battles with trust issues, and Emma struggles to lighten up.
The fact that Evan isn’t your typical egotistical, sex-starved rocker makes him endearing. Despite his newfound fame, he really is a humble and sweet guy. Emma is delightful. While she’s bright and tenacious, she’s also sheltered and insecure. Their pairing is perfect: sweet, humorous, and sensual.
I loved Emma’s formidable boss, Midge, and her supportive father. The story could have benefitted from further development of the other major supporting character—Evan’s manager, Tyler. I felt like there was much more going on with him than is revealed. Parts are predictable, and yet I very much enjoyed this low angst, sweet yet sizzling romantic comedy.
I loved the story. Evan was the perfect rock star. He wasn't bad, he was cocky, funny, super hot and protective. Emma was an ok character for me. Evan showed her how to live her life and having fun! Together they were perfect! Hot and passionate. They could understand each other.
Overall it was a great story that I read in one day. It was refreshing and lighthearted.
4.5 Rock and Roll and Abs Stars
I always one click Sawyer Bennett reads. I’ve recently discovered this author and ever since then I’ve been making my way to read all of her books. Her books are mostly funny, light and always steamy.
I’ll admit, I’m not a huge rock and roll fan, but I really enjoyed this one. It has everything I look for in a rock star book. I like that the main character went on tour and he’s adorn by fans, especially the female ones.
Emma is a plain Jane. She’s a lawyer and she is boring. She loves contracts and law and that’s basically it. She recently gets a once in a life time opportunity to represent the newly famous Evan. She’s hesitant to take the case because she would be traveling with him on tour, but this job is a stepping stone to landing the career she wants.
Evan likes Emma. He could get any lawyer to represent him, but he wants her and her legs. I really liked that Evan purses Emma. I’m a fan of the Hero going after the Heroine. I also like that he’s rich, famous and completely intrigued by Emma, even in boring khaki pants.
I thought they were a cute couple. I liked how insecure Emma was while Evan was super confident. Emma and Evan share a tour bus together. Emma gets the bed and Evan gets the couch, you can see where this goes. The plan is for Emma to work on anything legal while Evan picks her brain on how he should proceed on various opportunities.
Of course the tension is apparent and it’s super addictive to read.
I really liked how caring Evan was and it was really cute to see how invested he was with Emma. He wanted to see her while he played in concert. Isn’t that cute?
Overall, this was a cute, fun and sassy read with a little bit of rock in it.
Sawyer Bennett I love you! Voilà I said it! How do you manage to write so many books and yet I'm still here waiting for more. I never get bored with your books! I don't love them all, there are some better than others but I truly enjoyed all of what you give us. All your stories are different. All have an underlying message and as always I can' wait to read more and more.
TO readers, in case you didn't get it, Sexy Lies and Rock&Roll is yet another book to read first chance you have. I read it in one sitting. It was such a lovely and enjoyable read with two sweet characters that put a smile on my face the entire time!
description
Emma is an uptight laywer fresh out of college. She's employed in the same firm as a father but doesn't really like it. She has a knack for boring stuff IMO . She does like to make research for contracts rather than being in the limelight. So when her boss sends her to "rescue" a famous singer, she wasn't all that happy about it.
Evan is living the dream. Ever since he took a chance in publishing his song on internet, he got it all. But greedy people are always around the corner and,since he has to face several law problems, he has to get back to the girl he can't seem to forget since she help him to get out of trouble weeks ago
" Stay here with me… let me have you… because you want to. Even though you know you shouldn’t, let your desires make the decision and do it because you’ll regret it forever if you don’t take that chance.”
description
Everything in this story click, from our MC meeting to them being together and the little drama needed to see how much they fell for each other.
Emma is such a shy girl I was a little sorry for her at first. She has a neat life and she never takes a real chance in living it. But with Evan entering her life, things are about to change. The fact she is attracted to him is fully in his favor.
" He makes me feel something I’ve never felt before. I feel wanted."
Their time together was sexy and absolutely HOT! The scene when Emma finally let lose and gives in Evan's demand was arousing as hell! Drop panties and all
“I love how I can tell when you’re close. Can feel it so clearly. I love how I can play this body as easily as I can play my guitar. And you know what, Emma love… the sounds you make when you come are as beautiful as the music I make.”
Evan is perfect book boyfriend material. He sees something in Emma and all he want is to discover what's underneath this proper woman. He's confident on who he is and what he wants. He's honest and forward with how he sees things. And he wants to help Emma to get there with him.
Sexy Lies and Rock&Roll is a must read in all Sawyer Bennett's books. Don't miss it!
First Sawyer Bennet novel that I actually don't like.
I expected so much more from her, she's written decent stuff so far. Maybe this one gets better too at one point but the characters are idiots and I just can't seem to convince myself to go on.
Maybe my rating is based on the author too, not only on the novel but ah well. I am disappointed.
After being a famous self-made rock star for just over a year now, Evan is in huge trouble.
One of his former band members has been killed and the cops think he did it. Because the band wasn't all that happy with him going out on his own.
He calls his lawyer aunt to help him, but what does she do? She sends the most green little lawyer she has on staff. Emma. A beautiful, sweet, innocent girl.
Emma is working at the firm where her dad is a partner, but it's not her dream job. She doesn't want to go to court and do stuff like that, she'd rather spend all day going over contracts and legal documents.
But then her boss sends her to the police to help this sexy rock star ...
And he hates her on sight. Well, not really hate, but he doesn't yet believe in her professional talent.
But that changes pretty fast and Evan wants Emma to go on tour with him, to go over the contracts the record companies have sent him. And to handle the law suit his ex band mates have started!
Off they go.
And of course it doesn't take them long to start something.
But Emma is not cut out for that life....or is she?
And Evan? He's supposed to be out there partying it up and having the sexy time of his life. But he might just want the exact same things Emma want....
WHAT WiLL HAPPEN TO EMMA & EVAN????
WiLL THE TWO OF THEM GET THEiR HEA?
READ IT TO FIND OUT ☺☺☺
I really enjoyed this story!
Whenever I hear ROCKSTAR in a blurb, I just have to read it!
description
And it was a pretty great rockstar book. With a bit of excitement and lots of fun and sexiness thrown in!
description
I finished it pretty quickly in one afternoon and I really enjoyed it.
It was a great, sexy, adorable rock star thingy.
Evan is a great guy. So not the spoiled rock star STAR like so many are.
He's down to earth and he just wants to be loved and to write and play his music.
And Emma has been waiting for just such a guy to lure her out of her boring and daring-less life.
Too adorable!
I think I would've wanted to hear a bit more about Evan. We don't dig much deeper than a couple lines about his parents. This could've/should've been a 2/3-book series with lots more details and excitement.
Just something a bit deeper and just...more. Because Evan is a really great character. There were possibilities for more. But it was okay the way it was. It was a great & sexy little rock star romance!
I loved the secret star of the book - Sirius - Emma's dog - he is allowed to come on tour too.
Too cute!
As always, I had some tiny little problems with the writing...but that's just me and Sawyer. She always uses way too many AS's in her books (instead of using since or because). And it sounds so british and stilted and formal and meh, I hate it. But as I said, that's only me! ☺
Oh, and the cover? While kind of pretty - it looks more like a patriotic sports romance than a rockstar thing.
SEXY LIES AND ROCK & ROLL was a great rock star romance!
Evan and Emma have some very sexy and adorable and frustrating moments for us! Run to your nearest amazon to find out how the rock star and the quiet & shy lawyer will fight for their HEA!!!
Got to luv a Rock star
Emma works in a top law company she as worked very hard to get where she is but her job isn't really doin it for at the minute but when one of the top people call her into there office an gave her a chance to take on a big case she is shocked and maybe a lil scared and when she finds out its Rock star Evan Scott she is even more shocked she tries to keep her cool even though Evan is really sexy and there attraction is obvious from the start even though they r 2 very different people Emma is very proper doesn't really wear sexy clothes or goes out where Evan is just a Rock God very sexy an as girls throwing myself at him but he wants Emma an he will do anything to get her
I really liked characters Evan is gorgeous an I actually like the way he got Emma to open up more and to stop bein so straight laced once he worked his magic on her he wanted her even more and she wanted him just as much they were very sexy together an couldn't get enough of each other once they got started but there is alway people that want to wreck what was goin so well
It's actually goin to kill me to mark a Sawyer Bennett book lower than a 5 stars I'm a huge fan and I 've luvd everything I 've read but this book just had me al over the place I liked the start then it went a lil flat for then the last 50% was great I really enjoyed it so I was so happy it got better I did find that there was a few questions not answered which I m actually still dyin to know so this is why I can't give it more stars but I really wish I could xxx
Reading is definitively an escape for me and my mood varies. I can read rom-com, mafia, mystery romance, NA...well, you get the idea. Sawyer is one of those authors that gives you an easy read. And I don't mean this in that it's not engaging or good, but in that, you can get lost and enjoy.
I didn't know it, but I was in the mood for some rock and roll and this delivered! Emma and Evan are an opposites attract kinda story although in true Sawyer fashion, it's never that cut and dry. For all that Evan is living in the spotlight as a rock star, Emma is a straight-laced, not really living life, lawyer.
When these two come together, it was one fast, easy, sexy read with some fun and some angst. While the story was predictable, it was exactly what I needed. All you Sawyer fans, you have to check this out.
Let me start off by saying, if Sawyer Bennett writes it...I'm going to read it. Whether it's about a hot hockey stud, a sexy lawyer, or a gorgeous rock god...I'll be first in line to devour that baby! SEXY LIES AND ROCK & ROLL was just everything I thought it was going to be. Sexy, funny, passionate, and emotional. Like all of Bennett's romances, I found myself falling for the main characters almost instantly, no matter how much I wanted to take a few swings at our hero every now and again. The sarcastic, witty, and sexy banter between Evan and Emma was just fantastic! And don't even get me started on the sexual tension between the well reserved lawyer and the cocky, playboy rock star. Starting off, you wonder how in the world these two are going to come together, but in typical Sawyer Bennett fashion, she weaves a sexy web of hilarity and passion and the coming together part was just...WOW!
"If you're going to take a risk, Emma...if you're going to take on the wild side...you need to go big."
Holy hell did Evan break Emma out of her shell in this story. The character that grew the most was definitely our heroine. She was also the most relatable. On paper, Evan and Emma don't fit. But the way Evan handles Emma was just perfection. They ended up being a perfect match! The way Evan treats Emma, like she is the most beautiful woman in the world, and still not treating her with kid gloves was just EVERYTHING! That was easily my favorite part of the whole romance.
Along with the angst, passion, and emotion...a bit of suspense played a role in Bennett's latest standalone romance. It was just enough to add a little nail-biting to all the damn blushing I was doing when Evan and Emma got between the sheets!
In the end, I wasn't surprised that Bennett brought her A-Game with this one. Hardcore fans and newbies alike, will bow down to Evan Scott, cocky rock god with a heart of gold.
Whenever I hear there is a new Sawyer Bennett book I drop everything. This author can write the phone book and I will read it. She ALWAYS writes strong characters, amazing banter, steamy sexy times, and always has you clutching your heartstrings as the movie *ahem* I mean story plays out right in front of your eyes. She is solid gold and continues to live up to those expectations in this book and then some!
I love that right away we have an awkward heroine. Emma isn't confident and a sex goddess. She is a socially awkward, shy and somewhat insecure woman who is working at a law firm she hates, but sucks it up to pay the bills until a better opportunity presents itself. Enter the opportunity: Evan Scott, a rock star she had previously helped out of a legal jam, and who now wants her for himself [professionally, of course ;)] What results swoony (if unorthodox) courtship that includes midnight heart-to-hearts, steamy moments and the idea that love can happen unexpectedly.
While I did enjoy the story immensely, I found that Emma's insecurities were somewhat crippling. Her constant self-doubt, lack of confidence and ability to undermine her own self-worth got a little old at times. As a result, she opened herself up to other people unnecessarily, destroying her confidence and downplaying her relationship with Evan.
All in all, this was a fantastic read and something I've come to expect from Sawyer Bennett. She always delivers and I can't wait to read more from her in the future. ~ Ratula, 4 "Rocking" Stars
~~~

I tend to be a little hesitant when it comes to rock star love stories. They can go either way for me but my favorite way for them to go is in a way I don't expect. Which is exactly what Sawyer Bennett did with Evan Scott. He's not your average rock star -- he's honest, and sincere, and actually quite nice. In fact, one of the only things he has in common with your average rock star book boyfriend is that he's insanely sexy and the sex is insanely hot *fans self*.

I quite enjoyed this story. It felt a little fluffier than your average Sawyer Bennett book and a little bit more predictable. It's light on angst and there were no surprises here, but I still found my heart pounding away during the pivotal conflict scene, and then it melted over and over and over again at the mercy of Evan's easy charm.

Emma was an interesting character for me - I didn't adore her the way I expected to. Ms. Bennett typically writes strong, smart, sensible females and Emma was just off the mark of that for me. I wasn't crazy about how she handled the conflict and her reasons for behaving the way she did. She's not an unlikable character by any means - but I would have liked to have seen more natural spunk in her. And maybe a little more groveling before it all smoothed over in the end.

In all - Sexy Lies and Rock & Roll is a light, quick, sexy read. It's one of those books that draws you in, keeps you smiling, and leaves you satisfied. ~ Shelly, 4 Stars

le sigh ... again I find myself not of the popular consensus with a book.

I can't really put my finger on exactly why this book was just meh for me, but I can definitely say one thing ... Evan's infatuation for Emma was totally lost on me. Maybe its because it was just kinda thrown at us, but I didn't feel his infatuation. It wasn't written into the story in a way that allowed me to believe in his attraction for Emma. Honestly, the whole thing was bizarre LOL But the story was cute. And Emma was really endearing. If it wasn't for her growth and journey, I probably would not have finished the book. So there's that ...

My heart is bleeding now that I rate a book by one of my favorite authors with only 2 stars.
Because Sawyer Bennett can write! Holy moly, the woman can really write like a champ!
I must confess I like her “old” books better and I didn’t read her last 2 series, because not my cup of tea, so I just didn’t read them. And I highly anticipate her next book about hot hockey player, which I heard must be really good.

So I picked this book and now I wish I didn’t.
What do we have here? A shy weak hesitant heroine, an arrogant jerk H and I-f*king-know-better-what-you-must-do-with-your-life-darling side characters – Dr. Phil vs. Nostradamus. The book was about pushing and manipulating, at least it’s how I saw it .

We first meet the H waking up after a party near to his ONS. As it seems to be sexy and so IN in the romance books lately…*eye roll* he throws OW out and makes ?sexy? remarks aka balls deep etc. He finds the police officers in his house and is asked to come down to the station with them to be questioned about his ex-bandmate who was shot that night. After that we won’t hear smth about this story, so it’s not a suspense read.

We first meet the h working at the attorney office and not being happy about her life choices. She whines the whole book; so let’s just move on. The h is ordered by her boss (who is a woman by the way and also H’s aunt) to bail the H.

The first meeting of MCs is epic – real sweet start for a solid romantic relationship! *eyesass*

I won’t dwell on the fact, that the H was a manwhore. It doesn’t mean that if I don’t get horny around a man-slut, who had sex with OW only a couple hours before, that nobody gets. And it doesn’t mean that if I would never pursue any kind of encounter with such a man, that nobody would, or that somebody sees it just different. So no judgment!

Let’s speak about the pushing and pushing and a bit more pushing of the h.
I just can’t stand, when the people around you know better what you must do and constantly advise you to follow their choices. It’s just not ok!!!
And it was nothing wrong with the h (except zero self-confidence). Yeah, she was shy, liked to read, to work, didn’t party much, had only 1 sexual relationship, chose not slutty clothes and dreamed about normal calm future. What was wrong with her??? If you ask the side characters – her father among them – everything she made was not right.
She was pushed to accept H’s job offer to be his attorney and go with him on the tour.
The real trigger in this book !for me! was the fact, the her father was also one of the “manipulators”. How could you push you only child to be with a man, who has not the best reputation and sleeps around?! Is there a hidden meaning I don’t get? Daddy, really??? WTF???

And the romance begins. H pushes her, she doesn’t resist; H byes her new, more “fashionable” clothes incl. undies and she wears them… (She tried to argue, but gave up)
They sleep together, sex is of course perfect, h becomes sexy naughty kitten and so on.
Did I mentioned h’s lack of self-confidence? But why should she tell him these things? Just to feed his ego?
“This is just weird. I mean… you’re this famous rock star, and I’m this nobody little attorney who really doesn’t know what she’s doing half the time, and honestly, Evan… there is just no reason you should be interested in someone like me. You need like a super model or something on your arm.”

Let’s go on. They are together, she has doubts and he knows everything better. Than he gets set up by his friend/producer and . And here I understand the h. The man slept around, had/still has a player reputation; so why this scene couldn’t be truth? Girl, you had the right to doubt him!
She fled, he tried to call her, wrote her an email; but we don’t get any groveling – because it was her fault, you know??? *loud cry WHY?*

The next trigger for me. His aunt/h’s boss says to the h:
“Evan’s the best thing that ever happened to you—”
WTF??? How can you as a woman denigrate another female? Why is he was the best thing happened to her and not vise versa?

Maybe it’s just me?

Yeah, we have HEA here. But in the real life there are not enough rock stars for all shy good girls. And even if, the most of them (girls) would go out with the broken heart (if they are lucky) or with an STD (if they are less lucky).

What would I learn from this book?
Be yourself; don’t let somebody manipulate you/your dreams/your actions/your life. Because you are unique, you are you and only you define yourself; and only you live your life!
Cheers!

I’m always grasping for anything new from Sawyer Bennett. What I like about her stories is the diversity and how she tackles the different genres she chooses. She even has a different voice for them IMO.

What I have noticed is that some of the stories resound better with me than others. But I’m not saying that to be negative, just that because I have appreciated her differing publications, she is still a “must read” author for me.

Evan Smith is a worldwide rockstar that has just launched out on his own. He is embroiled in legal warfare with his previous bandmates, and also finds new contracts coming his way require a masterful legal brain to oversee.

Emma Peterson has high hopes for her legal career. She’s eager and precise, but fears working for her father’s law firm, Knight & Payne, is not going to get her where she wants to be.

With a little cajoling, and the promise of her dream job at the end, Emma ends up working for Evan, whilst they work their way through the legal minefield he finds himself in. What starts out awkwardly, soon softens as these two become more familiar in each others worlds.

This was an ok read for me. It flowed well and held my attention, but was a little clichéd with a side of treacle.

Oy, not sure what happened here:0 This is not a fave Sawyer read for me, which sucks, being a Sawyer fan and all. But other Sawyer fans, don't fret, because it looks like it's just me who feels this way.

I'll just cut to the chase and say my biggest challenge is the h (yikes, I don't even remember her name as I'm typing this). I couldn't connect with her. Her insecurities just bugged me and she's the opposite of the h's I can usually appreciate. i guess she was too mousy for me, and I just couldn't find the patience to see her growth. Real shame...

The H (oops, what's his name again) was a decent H, but he felt too run-of-the-mill for me; your grounded hot and sexy rock star who just wants to be loved for himself. And really, I did like him. He may have been the one saving grace for me in this bk.

And the plot did feel formulaic, esp when I think of where the conflict came from... Sad sigh...

Like I said, not a fave Sawyer read for me. I didn't not like it, I felt it was just ok... C'est la vie...

4.5 stars. Not sure if I will bump it up to a 5 stars or not. Loved the audiobook of this. I might be a bad person but I love when the couple have to fight their emotions for the relationship. And this had a lot of angst and things got really complicated. I don't know why but to me the relationship and love between the characters seem much more stronger and true if they have to get through some complications on the way. The love between the characters where sweet and very compelling to begin with and by the end of it I was a bit afraid for them how everything would pan out but Sawyer Bennett wrote a perfect ending for them so I didn't have to fear. Would most definitely read more by this author!

Review by Trinette Dungee

Evan Smith is living the dream of being a rock star, but along with the dream comes all kinds of other shit. Disgruntle ex band members, dead ex band members, shady best friends, lawsuits…you name it, he has to deal with it; and to deal with all of this Evan needs a person on his team he can trust. Insert Emma Peterson. She’s a bit of a bookworm, kind of stiff, prim and proper; but oh, when she get riled up….total turn on and Evan has decided she’d not only be good for his camp but for him period.
Emma is fresh out of law school working at her father’s firm. Well, what else do you do when no other law firm will hire you, you go work for you dad’s firm. This is as far from her dream job as she can get but it’s a job. So when Evan offers her a position as his lawyer/PR person you would think she’d jump at the chance but the only thing worse than working in her dad’s firm is working for Evan. Her first encounter with him left a lot to be desired and she’d prefer to never have to deal with him again. That is until he sweetens the pot by offering to make sure she lands her dream job when she’s done helping him.

We all know, I am a total Sawyer Bennett fan but every once in a while, I read one of her books that doesn’t quite do it for me. Not sure what it was but from the beginning something didn’t work for me. I loved the story line, I loved the characters. I even loved the way she wrote Tyler’s character (that asshole), but something was missing. Things weren’t connecting; I wasn’t finding myself craving more. And then all of a sudden I hit one section of the book and there it was…my heart was totally in it.

“So when I told you to take a risk and do something daring and impulsive,” I say, coming to my conclusion. “It wasn’t just so I could fuck you. That was going to happen one way or the other. But it was so that you would open yourself up entirely to something you probably deserve and would never have the guts to reach out for.” Emma stares at me a moment, her face inscrutable. I wait for her to process, and for her to understand, that this isn’t just sex to me. She lowers her eyes to her wineglass, perhaps contemplates another sip, but then gives a cough to her throat and looks back to me. “You said you think I deserve something,” she says hesitantly. “But I don’t have the guts to reach for it.” “That’s right.” “And that something would be you?” she asks for clarification. “I’m a fucking phenomenal catch,” I tell her with a grin. “And this is more than just sex to you?” she adds on, because she’s still not quite ready to believe. “Not going to lie,” I tell her with a wink. “The sex is beyond amazing. But yeah… it’s a bit more than that for me.”

Evan was adorable! That reassurance he gave her…I don’t know what it was about that little speech but it just made me go all gooey inside and my heart swelled and I suddenly wanted more…had to read more…needed to read more!!

Once again Sawyer has delivered a really great read, but because that hook seemed to come really far into the book for me I can’t go with my 4 or 5 stars…so I’m sticking to 3 ½…..I might be persuaded to give it 4.

Emma & Evan, loved these two.

Evan is a overnight stardom rock-star about to embark on his first tour.

Emma is new out of school studying law and working at the same law firm as her dad.

Emma is a person who hates her job and Evans excited career is just taking off.

Two opposites right there at the very beginning but you know what they say about opposites?

The story begins with Evan displaying the typical man-whore rock-star stereotype ways, girl in his bed after a party and he doesn't know her name, another one night stand.

Despite first impressions Evan turns out to be an adorable guy.

He first meets Emma when an ex band mate dies and Evan is taken in for routine questioning, Emma is assigned to attend with Evan at the station.

It's not a love at first sight romance far from it, but Evan definitely finds Emma fascinating with her mumsy look and prim and proper attitude.

A story of firsts and an exciting journey for both characters.

Both are great characters and the plot is told in dual pov's so you get the thoughts and feelings of each character and get the feel of knowing them.

Evan is a solo artist so unlike other rock-star reads becoming a series and moving onto other band members I can't foresee that happening.

I found the plot predictable and specific scenes I have come across in rock-star reads before but I loved it none the less.

Contains humor, hotness and a touch of drama everything is well balanced through the story which leads to a hea.

A recommended romantic rock-star romance.

Review closer to release day.

I am a Sawyer Bennett addict, she is one of my go-to authors each and every time. She writes stories that keep you entertained and hook you from the first chapter.

Emma is plain and boring, she's an attorney Her ambition is to read contracts and deal with only contracts in the legal department, she dresses like a matronly older woman . She works for a law firm that is not your conservative firm and she is very unhappy there, but she gets her first case and a chance of a lifetime, an opportunity to represent the famous coming new rock star Evan. Emma, of course, is unsure if she should take the case, why? Because she is bland and unadventurous, but Evan proposes her a deal she can't pass up.

Things start to unravel for Emma, Evan does not make it easy for her. These two are polar opposites but alike in a lot of ways.

If you like R&R Rom then you must not pass on this one, you know that Sawyer always delivers.

Emma Peterson likes order, quiet, books, contracts, and isolation. She is not happy working at the busy law firm, Knight and Payne, where her dad is a partner. But she's stuck there in her first year as an associate lawyer.

Her boss sends her to help out her nephew who is in a bit of a mess. Evan Scott is a new media sensation, indie rock star, and in definite need of legal advice. They clash a bit, but Evan finds himself intrigued by the buttoned up young lawyer that can get fiery when provoked.

Evan decides he wants to spend some more time with Emma and manages to present her with an offer she can't refuse. Before she knows it, she is boarding his tour bus as his legal consultant for a month. Spontaneous and adventurous are not in her make up at all. This is way out of her comfort zone, but he promises her it will be worth her while.

The sexy rock star wants Miss Prim and Proper to take a walk on the wild side. They've got chemistry and he is determined to explore it. He's willing to show her all she has been missing. But he also needs her as a stabilizing force and as someone who looks out for his true interests. Most people want something from him, but she just sees Evan the man.

Evan may be a star, but he is also grounded, humble, and real. He has a big heart and is vulnerable. His past was full of one-night-stands, but he becomes more and more attached to Emma. He pushes her to become more daring and fun, but he also accepts her more reserved personality. I totally fell for this sweet and sexy rocker who was a little lost and really just needed someone who he could trust and was on his side.

She's got fears and insecurities and is easily overwhelmed. But he helps her gain confidence and self worth that she has been struggling with. Underneath her reserved facade is a fierce warrior when it comes to protecting those she cares about. He has his own issues to deal with and decisions that have to be made. Their lives and dreams are different. Their good times in their little isolated bubble during the tour won't last forever. What happens when the time period is over?

These two were magic together. I loved their rapport, energy, and connection. They understood and could appreciate what made each other tick. But at the same time there were still some deep seated insecurities especially with Emma, as well as some outside influences affecting them. Trust is fragile and can easily be broken. The world he lives in is full of temptation, manipulation, and greed. While she thinks she needs a life with structure, autonomy, and routine.

Everyone wants a piece of Evan. But can he really give his heart and trust? And can Plain Jane Emma ever really believe that she is enough for the man everyone wants?

This is their journey towards figuring out what truly makes them happy and fulfilled. And the road they are traveling on is definitely not smooth. Despite the outward differences in their personalities, they both also have the tendency to be stubborn and get hurt easily. It is told in dual points of view letting us really see into their heads and hearts. It is funny, passionate, romantic, and a bit angsty. It brings in both the law (ties in a bit with Friction) and the rock & roll touring lifestyle. I loved the side characters of his Aunt Midge, her dad, Cary, and the sweet and stoic Red.

This is an engaging, delightfully romantic, sexy stand-alone from Sawyer Bennett. It brings both the heat and the sweet with a side of fun.
