My copy is “larger print” pbk: 282 pages.
c2017. Setting: San Antonio, TX
I really liked the McGuire family and hope to read their other stories.
Matt (our hero) is the youngest brother (of four) and this sounds like the last of the series.
The first half of the book had me rolling my eyes as it was all snatch and escape from the bad guys ...ad nauseum (typical of LIS books).
Dee Henderson’s book: Undetected .. which I LOVED came to mind as I read this; it also featured a young, genius researcher heroine. Suffice to say .. I liked Isabelle’s profession.
Second half of book redeemed the story for me .. thus the 4 star rating.

Mini-review:
This wasn't bad. The characters had quirks, which they normally don't in LIS, like Isabelle's tendency to sleepwalk and Matt's phobia of heights. I like how both played into the story. The twist at the end was so blatantly obvious to me that it felt like a letdown. Other than the quirks the characters weren't memorable, and I didn't like the fact that at the end the story only progressed because of miscommunication and Isabelle deciding that Matt only liked her as a friend.

Texas Takedown is by Heather Woodhaven. It is a love inspired suspense and has no explicit sex scenes nor language. This makes it very good reading.
Marine biologist Isabelle Barrow is in San Antonio to present her new idea to a convention in hopes of getting funding for her idea. The site she works for is low on funds so she is staying at a cheap hotel which means she has to walk through some questionable areas. As she is walking towards her hotel, she is attacked and chased by men. She manages to get away by hopping aboard a garbage boat in the canal. The boat is being driven by Matt McGuire, manager of a higher-class hotel. He is intrigued by the beautiful scientist and his protective genes and gentlemanly manners kick in and he sets out to protect her. Can he protect her from the men who want her research?
The suspense grows as the book continues. It is an excellent book.

3 1/2 STARS!

Fast-paced action kicks off quickly and leads us into the mystery of who the bad guys are!

Marine biologist Isabelle Barrow is excited about presenting her latest and greatest discovery at the oceanology conference in Texas, but when two men start following her when she's out alone, she doesn't know what's going on! Strange things continue to happen, and eventually she has to admit that someone is determined in getting their hands on her research before she ever makes it to that conference!

Matthew McGuire happens to be in the right spot at the right time to rescue her from her first assailants. He can't believe it when he recognizes her! His best childhood friend ... and high school crush ... Izzy! He has often regretted the fallout they had and losing touch. Will this be the break he always wanted to apologize and explain how he felt about her ... or will the danger at their heals keep them too occupied?

Isabelle Barrow's big break might end her life. When she attends a conference to present her research, she becomes a target. Matt McGuire, her high school crush, saves her. Their meeting brings back memories of their unhappy parting. Can he keep her safe so that they can get a second chance at love? I enjoyed this fast paced, suspenseful story. The characters are well-written and likeable. The dialogue is sweet with a touch humor. The action is non-stop and kept me on the edge of my seat. The twist at the end surprised me. I didn't see it coming. I enjoyed Texas Takedown. Heather Woodhaven has written an exciting and suspenseful story mixed with a sweet romance. I'm looking forward to her next release.

Texas Takedown by Heather Woodhaven is a love inspired suspense. It keeps you guessing and the adventure going throughout. It is the story of marine biologist Isabelle Barrow whos is going to a convention to present her research and to try and get investors. She is attacked and chased and is rescued Matt McGuire, manager of a higher-class hotel who is someone from her high school and life back then. The adventure and mystery is stated . Who attacked Isabella and what do they want keeps your attention. Matt seems to be there when ever Isabella needs him and that starts the romance. It is well written . The characters are well developed. This is the first book that I have read by Heather Woodhaven but it will not be the last.

I received a copy thru a Goodreads Giveaway.

This book is very fast paced, it takes place quickly within a couple of days.

Someone is after Isabelle for her research, so much so that they are willing to harm her in order to obtain it. But what is so special about her research that someone would go to great lengths to get their hands on it no matter the consequences?

Luckily, Isabelle runs into Matt, who steps up to do what he can to shield her from the danger. And this time he will do whatever it takes to keep her with him, unlike years ago in high school.

There are a few key players who are the potential suspects, but who can it be? And they figure it out before harm comes their way and Isabelle's presentation is ruined in front of potential investors?

The ending is cute, sweet and cute.

Who do you trust when danger lurks at every corner? Just when I thought the characters were safe, the action started again. A powerful, fast paced story that kept me guessing as to what would happen next. The author tells a great story of mystery, danger and discovering who can truly be trusted. I enjoyed this one very much. I received a copy of this story from the author and this is my personal honest opinion.

A book filled with action and danger every few pages. While the main character somehow does not have a clue about the value within the first oceanic drone puzzle piece she's discovered, someone does. It's a very enjoyable read. A realistic love with emphasis on God's help, and some crazy, wonderful, far fetched scenes throughout the book.

Texas Takedown

This is my first book by this author and the last book of the series. Even out of order, I enjoyed it and didn't feel lost. Now I'm going back to the first book. Good clean romance.

Matt's and Isabelle's story had me hooked from the very first page! Isabelle is about to show her research at an oceanology conference. But, things don't go as planned because someone else is out to steal that research from her. She never expected to find help from the one person who let her down years ago, Matt. Matt will do anything to protect Isabelle from the men that are chasing her. Matt has also had dreams of his own. Will him helping Isabelle finally give him the courage to follow his heart as well? Will Matt and Isabelle live to see what the future has in store for them?

Heather Woodhaven will not disappoint!!! This book is why I love the Love Inspired Suspense books so much!

I was blessed to win a copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.

This is the first book by Ms Woodhaven that I read, and it won’t be the last.
The author gives us a clean Christian romance filled with suspense, whodunit, bad guys galore, intrigue, and underlying romance while describing the beauty of San Antonio and the ins and out of hotel management.
Matt and Isabelle are the main characters. They were best friends for years when they were in school and though they were attracted to each other then, they never revealed it.
They meet again , when Isabelle, now a marine biologist, is in San Antonio to present an innovative product at a convention. By chance she meets again Matt, now an hotel operation manager, when he rescues her from men trying to harm her. And that’s when the plot thickens.
Suffice is to say it was a rollercoaster ride , but one worth taking. You will not be bored and will be constantly wondering who are the bad guys. And let’s not forget the chemistry that never really burned out between Matt and Isabelle.
So pick up the book, I promise you will enjoy it.
I was gifted this copy. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

I usually like these Love-Inspired Suspense books and this one was definitely a winner. The plot was interesting from the first page and held my interest straight to the end. Matt and Izzy are characters who feel like old friends and now I need to go back and read the books about Matt's brothers.
