I grew up on a small farm on the outskirts of Sydney and as a keen horse rider, often competed in local gymkhanas and even broke in a few horses from time to time. As I was surrounded by animals, I decided at an early age to become a nurse, however I couldn’t stand the sight of blood and so opted for a career in teaching. It’s a bit ironic that I married a surgeon.
I read my first Mills & Boon novel when I was 17 and that encouraged me to continue reading romance novels; the lure of the tall dark handsome hero, who in reality I fell in love with and knew I was going to marry on our second date! After marrying a year later, we moved to Scotland with our six week old baby so my husband could work and study for his MD in surgery. After the birth of our second son we came back to Australia to settle in Tasmania.
I went back to University and up-graded my teaching diploma to a degree and then went on to do a Masters but still I felt as if something was missing. I sat down one day and began writing and everything clicked into place - I had finally found ‘my brilliant career’! I used to write from instinct rather than a specific plan, but now, so many books later I find a loose plan doesn't go astray. An idea will pop into my head, sometimes it will be just a simple phrase or a what if question and I'm away.
Writing is a skill that can be learned and the best way to learn it is to read and to write. So many people feel they have a novel in them and very probably they are right-the only trick is to get it out. My advice to ‘would be’ writers is to write, write, and write even more. Carry a notebook at all times and jot down ideas. And like any other activity the more you do, the more it feels comfortable.
I hope you enjoy my stories and look forward to hearing from you.
Conflict-free "forced" marriage story. Heroine is a lawyer who marries the man she has had a crush on since she was 15 so that her father will get financing for his company. The hero "wants" the heroine, but is dead inside because he was rejected at 19 by a woman who wanted a man with money. He brutally rejected the heroine when she was a teenager and that's why she sees him as an "enemy." Heroine just wants love, but hero can only provide orgasms and boatloads of money.
There is nothing much going on with the H/h besides the inevitable seduction/sex scenes, so MM added in the heroine's secretary having a fling and getting pregnant by one of the hero's employees and the heroine's father cheating on her stepmother. None of those plot threads were really tied off.
Hero never had to prove his love - he just said the three words and all was well. *sigh* There isn't much else to say about this one.
Heroine not a virgin but I gave this a try because I like this author's writing style. I stopped reading the moment heroine says she would never sacrifice her career for the sake of a baby.
Masalahnya setelah mereka menikah, Draco merasakan hubungan mereka bukan sekedar formalitas, mulai tumbuh ikatan yg dicurigainya sbg cinta.
Biasanya saya suka semua novel author krn banter-nya biasanya sangat menarik.
Pdhl potensi utk plot cerita cukup mendukung utk menarik, tapi sayang sekali hasilnya malah biasa-biasa saja.
If you're looking for a hot, explosive summer read, that is fast-paced, incredibly sexy with a whole lot of spark, sass and deep emotional conflict, then you must get your hands on Wedding Night with Her Enemy by Melanie Milburne. The fire between Allegra and Draco worked me up. Their relationship is hot and cold. I was engrossed with the shenanigans going on and boy was I mad with both at one point, but eventually romance wins and a lot of sexy bits happen along the way. All in all, the writing is crisp, the dialogue is engaging and I closed the book one satisfied reader. Would I recommend this? Well, yeah!
I became very concerned as I started reading this story, and that concern continued on until I got to the wedding/honeymoon scenes then I felt better and even relieved that this story finally was heading into the right direction, however once the honeymoon scenes ended it just dropped right off and straight on off again, which again caused great concern within me again.
First off all, I thought the premise behind the story was good, and I thought it would be very promising with the backstory between Draco and Allegra, the relationship between Allegra and her father, and just a lot of ideas that I would thought would make it a very angsty read, which I was very much looking forward to. I have no qualms about the setup of the story with its atypical Presents plot of father’s business not doing well so made a deal with the hero to save said business in return for daughter’s hand in marriage only daughter hated hero ever since hero rejected her cruelly so many years ago, but was still attracted to said hero. Nothing unique or new behind that premise, but I was okay with of it because of what I expected to come which was an intense, emotional and really angsty read.
However execution didn’t go so well in my opinion for me. The reason being that it was very intense, almost too intense, and it wasn’t of the emotional variety but the physical variety. I think if it was the emotional type I wouldn’t have mind it as much, but it was the intense physical chemistry and attraction between Draco and Allegra that felt way too much. There was just entirely too much focus on that side of their relationship that just overwhelmed the entire plot of the story. It even took away from the emotional side of the story as well because there was just so much sexual tension there it was hard to get past that. Yes, they were butting heads and winding each other up along the way, but it came across too lusty instead of having a balance between their attraction to each other and their emotions for one another, which weren’t certainly there but hidden behind all that lust. It just felt like an abundance when I don’t think it was meant to be. I think it was meant to be this sexy cat and mouse game, but I just overwhelmed by it all because of the intensity that was their attraction for one another. It was about lust more than anything.
Plus as they were dancing around each other they kept repeating things along the way like “I”m not in love with him” when she clearly was, and there the phrase “Oh, I’m not going to fall in love with him” when again Allegra clearly was and for many, many years, and then there was the other one of “He’s never going to fall in love with me so I can’t fall in love with him” again she was beyond that point. I get she was trying to deny that she had feelings for him as deep as she did, but it got a little tiresome after awhile especially when she said it over and over again and multiple times in the book. It got just a little much. And if that wasn’t bad enough he repeated the same thing over and over again too like “I’m not in love with her” or “I can’t love her”, and stuff that nature. So it came from both sides of the coin and both of them said over and over again that it just got to be too much and felt like it was in way more int the story than needed to be. They needed to focus on other things aside from that.
But finally the story got better when they married and later went on their honeymoon because this was the first time that there was more of a balance between the emotional and physical part of their relationship occurred. This was when some of the most beautiful moments happened between them. There were really tender moments. There were vulnerable moments. There were revealing moments as they talked about their past and their hurts along the way. It was finally where they opened up to one another and that was really beautiful to see. I really liked seeing them bond and get closer to one another. Plus it really diluted the intense attraction and lust between them from the beginning where it got a little too much and overwhelming at times. That balanced really was needed in this story and was what I enjoyed about this book.
Yet another thing I adored was that first time scene between Allegra and Draco. It was so beautiful, so tender, so sweet, and just really lovely. This was scene full of caring, love and respect between the two of them that it was hard not to aww at it. I think this was the first love scene that I have read that even talked about needing respect and caring in the moment and then beautifully showing just that in the scene between them. It’s really what should be between two people at that very special moment, and that was what exactly what it was for Allegra and Draco in that moment. I really appreciated the fact that respect was mentioned by Draco in that moment and showing it accordingly. Usually respect is implied in love scenes but in this one it was very outright and expressed perfectly well, which made them love scene even more beautiful between them. I loved that moment. I felt that within my heart of hearts that it truly was a moment of respect, caring and connection as the two of them came together. I loved how gentle and patient he was with her. I loved how reassuring he was in that moment as she battled some insecurities within herself at that moment. I just loved that it showed that it was about them as a couple, instead of the two them just slaking their lust for one another. It was always more between them, and in that moment both realized it. The scene was just done in very classy, tasteful, and respectful way, and I thought that was absolutely brilliant. Now that wasn’t say their first time wasn’t hot and steamy because it was there was just more to it that because of how it was written and portrayed with that respect piece of the puzzle. I loved that.
Same could be said the next love scene as well. It was very clear that there was a lot of love and respect between them as well as lot of passion and heat between them. I loved seeing the balance between those things to make it a really complete love scene. It also showed off how much an emotional connection as well as a physical connection that they had to one another. That was really special I thought. It was always more between them than just the physical.
I also really adored the moments where they would open up to one another and become as emotional intimate with each other as they did physically. I loved hw they really could open up to one another and just be themselves. They talked about the past. They talked about the relationship with their families. They talked about the past with one another as well as their hurt feelings along the way. They talked about her insecurities. Just a whole lot of stuff. Yes, it was done sometimes during the aftermath of their lovemaking, but it was there and very sincere and genuine and brought them closer together as they began to understand each other more and more. The closer they got. The deeper they fell for one another. I just really liked seeing them spend time together and have that intimacy built between them. Those were the beautiful moments. I wish there were more of those moments than all that focus on the physical attraction to one another and denying it as much as they did when doth protested too much. Anyway I just loved the honeymoon scenes so much.
Once they got home from their honeymoon though it quickly went downhill for me. As soon as the plane landed, Allegra and Draco were off in different directions due to work obligations, and then really didn’t spend anytime together execute when they broke up and then when they reconciled. That was it. I was expecting there to be a little more of them interaction once they did finally hit the real world, but there was none. Instead a lot of the focus was inside of their own heads of why the couldn’t love the other person or why they couldn’t be with the other person without love, etc. It was a lot telling and less showing. I did like that he did send her flowers and such to show he was thinking about her, but I would have preferred them spending more time together on the page at the point whether it was a date night or just outing as a couple whether it be business or not. Something else besides what did occur.
Then it seemed like their points of view did a one eighty degree within a blink of an eye. It was just quick that it made head spin a little bit because of how abrupt the change was. Now I believed that they were both in love with each other and that they had been for sometime just never confronted it head on before this. I knew wanted to be together and have a real marriage and such. There was never a question in my mind of that. It was the abruptness of the change that just took me aback. These two were just so stubborn for so long of what they believed they wanted that I thought it would take more than what happened in the book before they acknowledged feelings between them as well that they in fact wanted a real marriage with one another. It just felt rushed, and there needed to be a little bit more build up there. There just needed to be something more there for me then that.
Because of that abruptness that happened it made the ending a little anticlimactic as well and just kind of ended suddenly. Again there needed to be something more. Even if there was an epilogue there, I think that would have helped a bit and counteract the abruptness of them deciding they wanted to be together forever after all. The epilogue could have included of them having children or her relationship or non relationship with her father or just showing them happy together in complete and utter bliss. Just something that would have made the story feel more complete. Something was missing from the ending.
Another thing I was disappointed that wasn’t in the story was a scene between Allegra and father whether it be a positive interaction or a negative one I wouldn’t have cared but there needed to be a confrontation scene I think. Just a scene where Allegra put it all out there for her father so he knew all of the emotional baggage that he left her with during her childhood and how it affected her as an adult. Again it could have been a scene where it was a positive one where they could have rebuilt their relationship and start anew or it could be a negative one where she would tell him off after he made clear that he really didn’t want a relationship with her after all. It would have just shown off her strength I think and also made her realize she didn’t need her father’s love anymore or that she wasn’t going chase it anymore because it was nothing that was wrong with her or what she was lacking. It was wrong with her father that he couldn’t give her the loved that she so deserved. It would have been a huge moment for Allegra to finally stand up to him after all this time and say her peace. It would have been great development and growth for her especially since that was such a big part of the plot and was the reason for her agreeing to marry Draco in the first place. I just wish it was included in the story.
This book was an iffy one to me. The beginning and the ending didn’t really do it for me while the middle was absolutely brilliant and beautiful that it almost made up what I didn’t like in the bookends of the story. They honeymoon was amazing. The love scenes were amazing. A big reason being because there was such a nice balance between the emotional and physical side of their relationship that made really root them as a couple. I enjoyed seeing them as a couple, and I wanted to see more of that side of their story than anything else. The beginning was just too intense with the lust that it just took over what could have really been a beautiful love story between Allegra and Draco. There was just too much focus there and overwhelmed at times, and it seemed like that was all that they had going for them even know I knew there were feelings involved as well. It wasn’t as fun as I was expecting as they fought their attraction to another. They butted head for sure and tried to one up one another but again it just had too much intensity and lust behind instead of playfulness and intense emotions along with that. There just wasn’t enough of balance there. There needed to be more push and pull on the emotional side of the story as well as the physical instead of just the physical side. It wasn’t as angsty as I was hoping it to be especially with the complicated backstory they had between them, but that lust factor just really took over the story in my opinion, and there was not a lot a room for much else. I was expecting a lot more longing going on for both of them. I wasn’t expecting the ending to be so abrupt. I thought would be a confrontation with the father. Just something more to the story from beginning, middle and end. The middle was the heart and soul of the story, and I loved that. It just didn’t carry through to the ending like I thought it was going to, redeeming the first half of the story. I would have forgiven the beginning if there was an awesome middle and ending. The middle was while the ending was not.
This was not my favorite Melanie Milburne book, but it wasn’t the worst romance I have ever read either. It just wasn’t my favorite.

I hardly ever give one star ratings. out of over 2,500 books I’ve read that are listed on my GR account, I’ve given only 20 one star ratings!!!! So you can see I don’t just rate a book that because it wasn’t my type of book. I wouldn’t do that to an author that has spent their time writing the book. I have read other books by this author and given them 3 or 4 stars but this book seemed to be written by someone else. For me, this story was awful. Honestly there was so many things I didn’t like about this story but I’ll just name a few. The heroine was awful. She liked to project that she was this independent career woman and everything but after ONE week, she’s suddenly aggravated with the hero for not loving her and wanting to have a fairy tale life. She tells him over and over that she doesn’t want children, then suddenly she does! She was just soo wishy washy and whiny. The hero wasn’t much better. He’s against love because a girl when he was 19 didn’t want to marry him and picked someone with more money?!?! Who cares, you’re 34 now and this billionaire..get over it!! Then he’s constantly thinking about all these women he’s slept with and glad the heroine hasn’t slept with many. Double standard much?
The repetition of words really bothered me too. Every now and again is ok but this went on throughout the whole book!! Examples: “If you stop now, I’ll never forgive you. I want you. Want, want, want you.”
“Tell me you love me. Tell me you don’t want to lose me. Tell me. Tell me. Tell me”
“Allegra was sure she could hear her heart beating. Boom. Boom. Boom.”
Then there is the way the author is always describing their actions
Not when she could help it. She would have to marry Draco. Gulp.... (gulp? Really?)
“looking at her with those glinting ‘I want you’ eyes”
“Allegra stretched her mouth into a ‘I’m cool with that’ smile.”
“Her name came out on a heavy sigh that had ‘don’t do this’ written all over it.”
There were other times when the inconsistencies were noticeable too. For example Draco is talking to Allegra about being an only child when they are at her fathers house for her baby brothers christening!! Later the heroine refers to the housekeeper as a widow then three sentences down, talks about the housekeepers divorce and cheating husband.
I won’t even talk about all the times the hero seemed more feminine than masculine when he’s describing the heroines clothes. Most men don’t know what the color dove gray is or what a boyfriend sweater is.
I really could go on and on! I haven’t even touched on the heroine’s relationship with her parents but I think I’ve said enough to explain my dislike for this book.
I’m sorry if my review offends anyone but it is my opinion on how I felt about the book. I really didn’t enjoy the story or writing.

MS Milburne has done it again with this fabulous story I am never disappointed by one of her books and this one is a cracker of a story, the banter just in the first chapter between the hero Greek billionaire Draco Papandreou and strong career heroine Allegra Kallas is steamy sizzling and very humorous, that it had me turning the pages and forgetting about everything that was going on around me, I highly recommend that you sit back and enjoy as I did.
Allegra has returned to her home in Greece for the christening of her half- brother but she is in for a rude shock when her father and the man that she had a crush on when she was sixteen Draco, blackmail her into marrying him to save her father’s business. Allegra is a lawyer and handles divorces and after what she went through growing up a marriage of convenience is not what she wants but it is what she will settle for that is of course until the sparks start flying between them and the air crackles with the heat.
Draco does not do emotion or love so this marriage of convenience is going to get him what he wants and that is Allegra she will be the perfect wife they suit each other so much she is intellectual and they get on well and even though the convenience includes the pleasures they can give to each other, he is convinced love will not enter the bargain until his emotions start to change.
MS Milburne has such a way with words that this story flows beautifully and has all sorts of emotions throughout, the sizzle between them is so very strong, both of them go into this with their own views and both need to work hard to change them for each other in such a beautiful way. Draco is the best hero so caring and loving he is a hero to die for and Allegra the perfect heroine for him, a crush that has grown into love. This is one that should not be missed I loved it from page one and was left smiling at the end thank you MS Milburne for another keeper.
I've giving it 5 stars because I picked it up knowing I was going to read a Melanie Milburne book so I couldn't really fault it for quirks typical of her heroines and a bit of originality pushing the boundary of a typical HQN Presents - plus there were lots of sweet moments deserving this.
This is a typical Melanie Milburne story for her fans. They will love this book- a career driven inexperienced (but non-virgin) heroine who is making it on her own terms in the world. Hooks up with a hero, then starts to question if having a successful career is all is cracked up to be with out love. Then as she falls in love and wants more - like a loving hubby and babies.
There is a very sweet moment in this book that nearly had me in tears. It was so sweet that I thought I'm giving it a 5 star just because of that gesture. Yeah, I'm an emotionally reviewer. It just proved without words by that simple gesture that hero loved the heroine. And the book is littered with a few.
There are a few unresolved issues in the end but I think this is the first of series - which in a weird way may involve Allegra's stepmother (read the book to find out but I suspect it will as I said Melanie Melbourne pushes boundaries) and also the heroine's her best friend.
Fans will love it, new readers will get a taste of Melanie Milburne's typical style and storylines, and regular HP readers will have varying opinions on it.
From blackmail ... to love?? Melanie Milburne's latest takes us on a dash towards happily ever after for the couple who have denied their connection for years! They're both kindhearted and easy to like and we're rooting for their happy ending from shortly after we meet them and realize they actually like each other even though they heatedly deny it. It's an easy and enjoyable read ... a little rushed, but a fun happy ending to reach!
Allegra Kallas might have been crushing on Draco Papandreou since she was 16 years old, but she has also spent a good number of years hating him ... or so she tells herself! When she discovers her selfish father has run his business into the ground and now expects her to marry Draco in order to dig him out of the mess he's made, she's furious! She seriously considers refusing, but because of the people that would be wrongfully affected, she agrees.
Draco is secretly looking out for Allegra's best interests because he knows her father isn't, but he's not a perfect man and will enjoy every minute of wooing her into his bed! She might deny she's attracted to him, but he can feel the fire the second she walks into a room and locks eyes with him. Let the fun begin!
Allegra was a "spare" child.Only her older brother died of leukaemia at just 4 years old.Her mother died of an overdose when Allegra was 12.She lives in London now ,a divorce lawyer. She is 31 and single. Her father, Cosimo, has a young wife, Elena, and a baby boy ,Nico. Allegra is the baby's godmother. Allegra learns that Cosimo is indebted to Draco , a self-made man.Draco agrees to help ,provided he marries Allegra. She tries to refuse, but has no choice but to agree. So they marry .His friend Loukas serves as the best man.Allegra's co-worker/ friend Emily is her maid of honour. Allegra always thought she wants no children, but now she wants Draco and real marriage, not a merger. A week after the honeymoon Elena comes to see Allegra in London.Cosimo has a mistress in Paris,so Elena leaves him, taking baby Nico to her parents.Allegra suggests she acts as her stepmother's lawyer. She is angry with her father and decides to stop doing what he wants. She also decides to break the marriage, as there is no need for it now and Draco doesn't love her. How will it all end ? Would love to read Emily's story.
WEDDING NIGHT WITH HER ENEMY by Melanie Milburne Allegra Kallas is horrified her father would let Draco Papandreou be the one to save him from 100% disaster. Draco rejected Allegra and she has never forgiven him. Allegra’s dad is at risk of losing everything and since he has remarried and has a little baby Allegra feels sorry for him. But Draco Papandreou really!!!!! She is home to attend her father’s newest child christening. But why is Draco attending. Her father has agreed to let Draco be the child’s god father, and Allegra the child’s god mother. Draco proposes a marriage of convenience between him and Allegra and in return he with save her father’s financial issues. Draco knows that Allegra still has that fire for him that she always had and he is not above using that to blackmail her into confessing it. Melanie Milburne is a superb author who can in writing have the reader feel as though they are right there witnessing this story. Even through Allegra is not willing to admit it her and Draco fully belong together and do truly have deep feelings for each other.
Seperti biasa novel harlequin banyak pengulangan narasi soal how perfect your body specially from Allegra's prespective and how Allegra's drolling about it.
The hero was ok, but the heroine was very annoying. She was very antagonistic to hero because she liked him and didn't want him to know (because he rejected her 15 years before). He wasn't mean to her throughout the years but she was mean to him.
I didn't care for heroine's constantly talking about women working and that her career was of utmost importance to her, but I really hated heroine's mindset that kids would get in way of her career. She did secretly start longing for a baby a few months before, but kept saying over and over that she didn't want them. Everytime hero would mention them she would shut him down and adamantly refuse to discuss it. She did finally acknowledge at the end that she wanted kids and also to be loved. He was ok with having a kid but not the love part then after few days seperation he changed his mind and realized he loved her. Np.

Bisakah kita memulai lagi? Kehilanganmu membuat duniaku hampa. Seakan kematian mendatangiku untuk selamanya. (Draco, halaman 223)
Ada kehilangan yang lebih buruk. Seperti hatiku .. (Draco, halaman 52)
There isn't a book that Ms. Milburne writes that doesn't become a favorite and this one is also going on my keeper shelf because I totally loved it . A story about Allegra Kallas and Draco Papandreaou that puts Allegra in the position of marrying Draco to save her fathers business, a man who as a young girl she fell in love with. Sounds like an ordinary romance but Ms. Milburne doesn't write ordinary romance she writes amazing stories and Draco is a man you will fall in love with despite the reason for the marriage. Incredible story amazing plot and a book you will be sorry to see end, however you will love it to the end. enjoy I absolutely loved it.
Allegra Kallas seems to have a good way of life, success at her career and a good income and is young and single. When summoned to Greece by her father she finds out that to save his failing business in the sadly declining Greek economy that he has "sold" his daughter to the highest bidder. The lucky recipient is at the same time the love of Allegra's life and the man who rejected her in the past. How will this marriage of convenience work with a simmering pot of emotions from the past...? A fresh, modern love story with a good, engaging storyline.
Such a wonderful ending to a captivating story. This one is one of my favorites. Draco is so sexy and such a caring person who’s experienced loss after loss all his life therefore has decided to shield his heart by refusing to love anyone ever again until Allegra somehow penetrates that shield and he finds himself realizing this until it’s too late because she’s gone.
"Wedding night with Her Enemy (Wedlocked)" by Melanie Milburne is another wonderful book from this great author. It is a classic romance between Greek Billionaire Draco Papandreou and Allegra Kallas. Draco blackmails Allegra into marriage to save her father's business, but there is so much to their story and past history. LOVED it.
Wished it was a bit longer and had time to show a bit more depth. Two hurting people and it will resolved so quickly. Ah well. It's the genre. Adult content.
Allegra Kallas detests Draco Papandreou—and she especially can't stand the desire she feels whenever she sees the arrogant man who once rejected her! So she's horrified when her father's business runs into debt and the only man who can save them is none other than the ruthless Greek…
No matter how much Allegra protests, Draco knows the driven career woman feels the fire which rages between them. And he's not above using his power to blackmail her into confessing it!
