First off I loved the cover and title of this thriller. It grabbed me from the start. Plus the synopsis. It sounded very promising. When the phone call happened I was very intrigued. The story started off slow but gradually picked up. The writing is pretty good but I just could not stay captivated in the story. Something was missing for me. I think it may have been too predictable. There are some loose ends that need to be tied up and I understand there is a second book coming out. I liked it enough to give the second one a chance. I just feel that this could have been a great thriller but only turned out to be just an ok one.

Thank-you as always to Netgalley and Aria publishers for the opportunity to read this Advanced Reader Copy.

Amanda and Will are living the dream, loving wife, handsome husband, perfect dream home until one day while Will is at work their phone rings.A man wants to speak to a Jake Burton and refuses to believe Amanda when she insists that no one going by that name lives there.Later that evening Amanda tells Will about the phone call,he asks her a few questions about the call and then they go to bed.Next morning when Amanda wakes up Will is gone, she is not overly worried until she gets a call from Will`s boss who wants to know where Will is.That is when Amanda`s world shatters,if Will hasn't gone to work then where is he?

Amanda is determined to find her husband and enlists the help of her ex boyfriend Shane who is a police Detective.Together they are drawn into a world of drug dealers, criminal masterminds and broken promises.

As the truth becomes clearer,Amanda begins to wonder if she ever really knew her husband at all.

I was drawn to this book by the Intreguing tag lines on the front cover especially the a Missing husband one,I do love a Missing person mystery. The problem was that the conclusion of that little mystery was revealed in the opening prologue,a fact that spoiled some of my enjoyment of the story.Amanda was a likeable but also frustrating lead character,I liked her fiestiness, loyalty and stubbornness, she was going to find her husband no matter what danger she was putting herself in.The frustrating part was her feelings for Shane which ebbed and flowed like the waves of the sea that she loved so much.I enjoy reading thrillers because I love getting caught up in the danger, mystery and action,if I wanted romance and love triangles then I would read a Mills and Boon. The constant flashbacks and mentions of Amanda`s dad became irritating and repetitive after a while,I understand that she missed him and that he was her hero but I didn't need to be reminded about it over and over again. Its hard to judge Will`s character because what you do know about him is learnt from Amanda's point of view and as for Shane I don't think that he is the loyal, trustworthy character that he appears to be.

I liked the use of the darknet in the story,it's not something that I know much about although my daughter says that it's misconstrued.I liked the dramatic chase through the woods and the Intreguing unsolved mystery of who Turtle82 is.The abrupt ending didn't bother me that much because I had already requested and downloaded the sequel.Although I didn't enjoy this as much as I thought I would I am intregued enough to want to know how the story is going to end.

Many thanks to Aria books for a arc of this book via Netgalley in exchange for a honest review.

Amanda Thorne seems to have it all ... a nice home, a wonderful husband, a web-design job that she can do from home.

And then comes the phone call ... a seemingly wrong number.

The night she remembers to tell her husband about the call is the night he disappears. No note, no warning, just .... gone.

She sends text after text and tries calling, but then she gets a recording stating that the phone has been disconnected. He has not shown up at work.

Days pass and she is beside herself with worry. Where has her husband gone?

As a last resort, she contacts her ex-boyfriend, now a detective.

And so the search begins .. for a man who isn't who she thought he was. Has she ever known her husband?

This was an okay read ... not really what I would call all that suspenseful. The characters seemed to miss the mark somewhat.

The ending was ... abrupt. There were questions that were not addressed. I'm not sure whether a cliff hanger was implied, but if so, it didn't work. An epilogue might have been a better choice.

Many thanks to the author / Aria / Netgalley who provided a digital copy. All opinions expressed are my own.

3.5 stars. Will & Amanda Thorne are living the dream until the phone rings when Amanda is home alone. The caller asks to speak to someone who is not known to Amanda but he does not believe her. The next morning her world has turned upside down. Will is missing without trace.

The story is slow and drawn out to start with but about quarter way through its pace quickens.

I would like to thank NetGalley, Aria and the author Carys Jones for my ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This is a book that came out months ago. I've been trying to get around to reading it as book 2 is out now which I'm planning on reading ASAP as this one was very good.
It didn't blow my socks off, not quite but I would certainly recommend it to all that love a good twist in its tail thriller.

When Amanda met and married Will he didn't have family attend the wedding.
But you understand his reasons when they are touched on slightly at an early stage into the story. Amanda was fine with it.

Her mother wasn't a huge fan of Will though as she loved Shane who was Amanda's previous love, they grew up together.

Amanda seems to have it all. Good husband, nice house, great job.

Then the phone rings......
That changes the dynamics of the entire secure relationship and family she's secured with Will.

She later has to call on her ex. Shane. He's the best Detective there is in the town.

The story takes on the search for the missing husband in such a great imaginative way that you'll be shocked, I know I was.

Can't wait to read book 2

My thanks to Aria for my copy

I really enjoyed the first book in Carys Jones new series. I have enjoyed her books before and I am looking forward to seeing where this one heads next. After receiving a wrong number call where a man asks to speak to someone who doesn't live at Amanda's house, her husband disappears and her life starts to unravel.
I was keen to read more and this one ends rather abruptly, so I can't wait for the next one in the series to be released. You are taken along on the adventure and left yearning to know more.
It shows you that even a perfect life can be hiding all sorts of things you'd rather not discover.

I feel like I was misled by the cover/title/blurb of this book. I love the cover, immediately caught my eye, the title did too. The blurb put the nail in the coffin and by this point I was clicking request on Netgalley faster than ever. But after reading this, I think it’s definitely more of a domestic suspense and had I known that beforehand, I may have enjoyed this more. When I picked this up I was in the mood for a more standard mystery/thriller and I had wrongly assumed this was a pulse pounding domestic suspense.

Wrong Number starts out slow and it took me until about a third of the way through until I actually started to get into the story. Some action begins at this point, but unfortunately it never really reached an exciting level for me. The plot itself was very predictable and I had things figured out very quickly. There was really no heavy layer of suspense hanging over the story either which I would expect in any mystery novel. The combination of these two crucial elements failing for me left things very flat and uninteresting.

This definitely wasn’t the worst book I’ve ever read, it had some moments where I was feeling good about where things were headed, but then every time I would start to relax into the read I would either have to suspend some serious disbelief or be immersed in a love triangle. Being unprepared for the romantic aspect really threw me for a loop and I don’t mind tossing logic out the window occasionally, but I had to do it here a bit too much for my liking. The ending was really curt, I almost thought my copy was missing a few pages, but then I saw there will be a sequel in May. If things had been whittled down a bit I’m not sure one would even be necessary.

If you’re looking for something with a similar plot and a better domestic suspense check out The Marriage Lie, I enjoyed that one much more.

Most wrong number calls end with an "oh, I'm sorry" and a hang up. The one Amanda gets one evening while preparing dinner is different. The man on the other end of the line is insistent that he has the right home, but he's requesting to speak to someone Amanda has never heard of and leaves her irritated by the longer than necessary interruption. Strange, but more annoying than alarming. What is alarming is that after their dinner and bed, Amanda's husband Will is gone when she wakes up. No goodbye, no telling her he had to go in to work early. She is upset, but figures he's forgotten to tell her he had to get an early start. That hope is squashed when she gets a call from his work... they are also wondering where he is.

The rest of the story revolves around finding out where Will is and why he left. Amanda uses her vast knowledge of computers to search herself, and she also enlists the help of her detective ex boyfriend Shane. The happy marriage she and Will had is shattered, and for what? What could be so bad that Will would leave Amanda, the woman he was so in love with and protective over?

I could have done with less of the triangle and I wasn't that big of a fan of the ending. I did like the premise and it's written in a very easy to devour way, I never got lost or had to look back even though I read it in several sittings. I really liked the parts of the book that had to do with the darknet. I noticed a few things were left open-ended, which I'm sure will be dealt with in the sequel!

I received an ARC of this book from Net Galley and Aria, thank you! My review is honest and unbiased.

Amanda Jones is leading a dream life with her husband until the night she receives a call that will change her life forever. The caller is asking to speak to a person that Amanda does not know and he refuses to believe that this person is not there. Amanda ignores the call and does not think anymore of it until the next morning when her husband disappears. All of a sudden that call seems to have much more significance for Amanda. This is the beginning of a great story that will take you on a roller coaster ride that does not let up. I will not say too much more as it will give away the plot but I was totally caught up in this story, real characters and full of tension and suspence that will keep you turning the pages. A very enjoyable read.

Wrong Number follows Amanda and her husband Will as they live a seemingly idyllic life. Computer-hacker-turned-website-designer Amanda receives a strange phone call one day, asking for a man who doesn't live at her house. As the caller becomes more and more instant that she's wrong, and that someone by that name does live in her house, she starts to get creeped out. After telling her husband about the call, he immediately shuts down and gets quiet. The next morning, she wakes up and he's gone. No note, no text, nothing.

The story continues with Amanda falling back into the world of hacking as she attempts to locate her husband. Was he kidnapped? Was he in an accident on the way to work? Did he leave voluntarily? And if so, why?? Amanda ends up filing a police report, and sure enough, Amanda's ex-boyfriend Shane agrees to help out with the case. As days go by, Amanda and Shane spend a lot of time together looking for Will, and you can tell there's a lot of history and raw emotion there. I can see the appeal of both Will and Shane, but I know who I liked best!!
There was a lot I liked about this book. I loved the story line - I love a good domestic thriller! I really enjoyed the parts about Amanda using the "darknet" to hack and attempt to locate Will - I'm not sure why, but it was super intriguing (and also a little scary to know that it's possible to do that!) I felt like I was really engaged for most of the book. That said, there were a few points where I felt like the story went on a little too long. I also really loved Amanda. Sometimes thrillers position the female lead as this week character who can't take control of the situation, and Amanda was the total opposite. I loved that she didn't sit back and wait for the police to figure things out. She immediately took matters into her own hands and conducted her own investigation and then acted on it. I loved that!

Though there were a lot of things I loved about the book, there were also a few things I didn't love so much. First, it could have been shortened up in some places in order to move the plot along more quickly. There were also a few grammatical changes that could have been made - some sentences didn't flow very well, and there were one or two that didn't make sense at all. In addition to the grammatical things, there were also a few punctuation errors (for example, one sentence started with "It's okay,." and had both a comma and a period - a good editor would definitely be able to finetune those things. I also felt like there weren't a whole lot of twists and turns in the book. Everything was fairly obvious for the reader to figure out from the beginning, and I wish that there were a few we would have figured out later in the story. It's definitely not a dark and disturbed book like many recent thrillers have been, and that was a nice change of pace.

That said, I really enjoyed the book. It does leave off on a cliffhanger, which I didn't know going into it, so I'll definitely be reading the sequel when it comes out in May of 2017! Wrong Number comes out on January 1, 2017, so be sure to mark the date and check it out!

Thank you to Netgalley, Aria, and Carys Jones for an opportunity to review the book prior to release in exchange for an honest review.

I almost didn't get past the first few chapters but I find it very difficult to abandon a book - if an author has spent many months of their time writing a novel, the least a reader can do is give it a good go! And I'm glad I stayed, it did get better.

The trouble with the first part of the book is that I wanted to scream at the number of times the heroine's outfits were mentioned. She climbed into "mint green shorts"? HER HUSBAND HAS DISAPPEARED! HE MIGHT BE DEAD! HE MIGHT BE IN A DRUG CARTEL! I DON'T CARE IF SHE'S WEARING A BIN BAG, JUST GET ON WITH THE STORY!

Ahem. The second half of the book really does get better, becoming the fast-paced thriller we're promised in the blurb and I'd go so far as to say that if there were a follow-up novel I would definitely read it.

The beginning starts rather slow.
Wrong number is one of them books that is impossible to review without spoilers so I m not going to try.
What would you do if you suddenly found out your marriage was a lie...
Not a bad book good job there is a second one coming out because the ending just left you hanging.

I'm conflicted about this one.

On the one hand, I really liked it. It kept my attention and kept we wondering how it was all going to turn out. On the other, it wasn't very suspenseful, as implied in the description, and it was a cliffhanger ending. I hate cliffhanger endings.

If you do too, this book is not for you.

Basically, the story is about a woman - a former darknet hacker - who has settled down into married life and thinks everything is going great, until one day she was a weird phone call asking for someone she's never heard of. The next morning, her husband is gone. With the help of her ex-boyfriend, a homicide detective, and her hacking skills, she discovers that her husband is hiding some very dark secrets.

Like I said, this novel is actually pretty light on suspense, since it's not too hard to figure out what has happened, but I did enjoy reading along to see how everything turned out. There's a love triangle - of course - and I actually really liked that part. It was very interesting to see what Amanda chooses to do and where her feelings lie.

That love triangle was actually the most interesting part to me and I was weirdly invested in it (Team Shane!).

But then there's the ending, which as I said earlier, is a bit of a cliffhanger. It resolves some things, but leaves a huge, wide door open. I understand that this is supposed to be the start of a series, but I would have liked a little more closure here. I mean, it truly felt like the ending of an episode of "Scandal," but now we have to wait until the next book comes out, which can be a long time in book world.

But I guess the big question is would I pick up the next in the series. And the answer is yes, I would. As I said before, it's not a bad story, and I am interested to see where it goes.

So I mildly recommend this one. Fans of action books and love triangles will enjoy this book; if you're looking for a mystery/thriller, skip it.

Maybe if the next one is a little more developed, it will veer into the thriller genre. The author certainly has the potential to write a very good, suspenseful novel.

I can't say I really enjoyed this one, I spent more time wondering about the details which didn't add up than getting immersed in the story.
The constant inconsistencies of things like B&B one minute and hotel the next; the south of Scotland being north of Glasgow, and the time taken to travel the same distance twice differing enormously annoyed me and the most irksome thing, as a Scot, was the idea that our overnight accommodation (B&B or hotel?) should offer threadbare curtains and chairs with the frame showing through the upholstery! The weather had it's ups and downs too .. heathers springing up everywhere regardless of the season - no idea which season it was - and covering paths - really? Fallen leaves, clear nights, torrential rain all in the space of less than half an hour? The research for this one just wasn't up to scratch for me.
I really expected to find this was a debut novel, but no, there have been plenty before it. What really shocked me was to find it described as a psychological thriller ... in all honestly I just couldn't wait to get finished it and move on.
Not one I'd recommend and I doubt if this is an author I would load onto my kindle again.

I received an arc via Net Galley in exchange for my honest and unbiased review, which this is.

Disappointing!

This book had great potential, but sadly needed another author. I got tired of hearing about the coffee maker's noises and the unending other descriptions of just about everything that made it a bit too hokey. It was easy to figure out, certainly no real surprises. I kept wondering if I was reading the work of a teenager. Thankfully, I didn't pay for it.

This book starts with Amanda gets a phone call asking for Jake Burton, she repeatedly tells the caller that no one by that name resides there. But the calls continue, and when she mentions about this call to her husband he doesn't react much, BUT he decides to just vanish without leaving a trace. The twists kept coming, and I like the way Amanda has been portrayed as a strong female character who doesn't give up at all!
Overall this was a very intriguing thriller, thanks to Netgalley, Aria , Carys Jones for approving the ARC

An enjoyable read if a bit predictable.
It was nice to have a female character who is a computer hacker on the dark web. So often IT experts are male.
I would have liked some more twists along the way.
Still, this is a promising debut novel and I would be tempted to read more from this author.

The story was interesting, however I would not class it as a psychological thriller.

The writing was a bit flat and repetitive, but overall not bad. I am going to read the sequel since the story had such an abrupt ending I feel I have hundreds of questions. Hopefully I get a few answers!

Amanda Thorn is living a blissful, married life with her husband, Will. They have a beautiful home, stable jobs, and a bright future ahead of them. One night, Amanda answers the phone to be hounded by the caller; he is asking for another man and won’t take no for an answer. Amanda brushes this off, but the next morning, when Will has disappeared without a trace, she begins to wonder if this call could be linked. As Amanda sinks deeper and deeper into a web of lies, she begins to try and unravel her marriage. What is real? What is fake? And begins to make the distinction of whether or not you could ever really know the person who lays beside you… Read more…

Wrong Number, by Carys Jones, is another twist on the domestic thriller genre that has become so popular this past year. Amanda and Will are living an idyllic life until she receives a phone call- seemingly a wrong number- and then Will goes missing without a trace. As tensions build and she searches for her husband, she opens doors into her past that she had tried to firmly hold close as she realizes her husband was never who he appeared.

Jones writes a seriously addicting read. I really enjoyed it and read it within a couple sittings. It combined some suspense with a classic love triangle. I didn’t necessarily find this novel overly suspenseful. But what is lacked in suspense, it made up for in action. This one was absolutely action packed; between hunting down her husband, getting her ex-boyfriend (who is now a detective) involved on the case and dealing with her own fears about what is happening, my mind was racing the entire time. This one is very different from all the dark and twisted thrillers that have been talked about this year. Don’t get me wrong, I love me some dark and twisted but sometimes something lighter is a nice change of pace.

Jones creates characters that are easy to connect with, which I loved. I found myself devastated for Amanda as she goes through the motions after her husband’s disappearance and was intrigued as her character developed into someone pretty kick ass near the end of the book. She really transformed throughout the plot and came into her own. I also did develop a bit of a fictional book crush on both of the male leads in the book #sorrynotsorry

Now I need to warn you, the novel ends abruptly. Like so abruptly, it feels like it stops in the middle of a sentence. I, initially, was really upset, but then I realized that it ended that way because a sequel will be published next year as well! So thank goodness for that! I know, for sure, that I'll be waiting for the sequel to be released!

I would absolutely recommend this one- it's absolutely worth the read. I almost feel like this novel was the perfect marriage between a crime thriller and a chick-lit novel. And I am totally okay with that. With that being said, if you are a newcomer to this genre (getting your feet wet with domestic thrillers) or someone who likes a little bit of romance thrown into their reading, this would be your top choice.

This book will be published on January 1, 2017. Mark your calendars!

I voluntarily received an Advanced Reader’s Copy of this book from Aria Publishing, Carys Jones and Netgalley; it was my pleasure to provide an honest review.

WOW!! If I could get away with writing that for my review I would but I can't but it really does sum up my whole take of Wrong Number.
I was a bit afraid to read Wrong Number at first, mainly because the blurb and how they ring Amanda's house and I was worried it was going to be like a horror in the making but thankfully it wasn't too scary. (Mainly as I read it in the night as well.)
Amanda Thorn is your typical woman, she works from home, is married to a perfect man who walked into her life at the right moment and they have a wonderful marriage. That is until, one call changed everything Amanda had ever believed and known in less than 24 hours.
Will Thorn is a normal man, goes jogging every morning, drives to work and loves to spend his free time with his wife. Although, he isn't a normal man at all, he has secrets. Secrets that could destroy the life he has built for himself, secrets that only he knows and would be willing to die for.
When Amanda gets a strange call from a man asking to speak to someone who didn't live there, Amanda didn't think anything of it. So when she says about it to Will later that night, she isn't expecting the chain-reaction of events that follow. Waking to find Will gone, Amanda is thrown into a world of uncertainty and not knowing what happened to him.
Although, Will isn't who anyone though he would be and Amanda realises that her life with him has been a lie and that she is married to someone she doesn't really know at all.
I couldn't believe the twists and turns that Wrong Number takes, it is thrilling and exciting all at the same time. I loved Amanda's character as similar to most female lead character's she is strong and determined but she is only heartbroken and doesn't know who to trust. This story made me have a range of different emotions, sadness for Amanda, unable to trust Will's character as you can't tell what is real and what isn't and loss not just for Amanda but for Will as well. I won't say what but if you read their story then you will see what I mean.
Wrong Number is so much more than a psychological thriller, it is a story about trusting the people we know, thinking we know them when we don't and love them regardless of the lies that they tell us as they always sound so believable. I can't wait for the next part in this series.
If I was to sum this book up in three words, they would be Unpredictable, Thrilling and Captivating.

This novel was interesting enough to keep me reading, but I definitely didn't love it. I'm trying to figure out a way to talk about this book without spoiling too many things. So, from the get-go we learn that Amanda used to be a hacker, which was super exciting for me because I've always found the dark net and hacking to be an interesting topic. However, the novel really doesn't get into too much detail on this, and that let me down a lot. I mean... if you're a brilliant hacker, I want to know how it works and what you do and how it helps you. Also, Amanda really isn't the smartest cookie. It took her ages to make the connection between the phone call and her husband and even then, she didn't act on it until close to the halfway point in the story. Most of the doubting comes from her mother, not from her, who is terribly unsupportive and is constantly undermining Will; too much of the same words can get to be really annoying after a while! There was also a love triangle thrown in there that made me cringe a bit. Amanda is out looking for her husband who has literally just disappeared. It's only been two days so why is she suddenly talking about her relationship with her ex and mentioning buried feelings? Definitely not a great time for that! Based on the description I read, I was hoping for super devious stuff and a crazy plot twist, but the reveal was a let-down and everything was just super predictable after that. The ending was rushed, and I didn't understand why everything was happening so fast, until I saw that there is a sequel for this novel coming out in May. I hate being left hanging waiting for what happens next, so I have half a mind to read the sequel just to see how the story progresses! Overall, not a bad job for a debut novel but it was definitely not branded right and so, it didn't meet my expectations.

I received this novel as an advanced copy from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

An intriguing psychological thriller!

I gather that 'Wrong Number' is a debut novel for Carys Jones. From the outset, I was lured into this intriguing psychological thriller! It is fast paced which makes it a real page turner.

It introduces us to the apparently blissful newlyweds, Amanda and Will Thorne. They have the perfect home and all is hunky dory! One evening Amanda answers the land line and a wrong number certainly stirs up a hornets’ nest.

As I tend to avoid spoilers as much as possible, then suffice it to say that all is not what it seems for the couple. Amanda proves to be an extremely strong character, which is just as well as she has to unravel a series of unusual and disturbing clues.

Amanda's ex-boyfriend, Shane has a very important part to play in the scheme of things, and Amanda's mum has her own strong opinions.

I thoroughly enjoyed this novel, and awarded four and a half stars, as the ending was slightly implausible. However as there is to be a follow up from Carys Jones, then maybe it was deliberate, so I will certainly look out for it.

First things first, the cover design, the title and the blurb were excellent. They caught my attention.

However, those 3 elements are also what made me frustrated as far as the story development is concerned. I can’t help but be annoyed at the fact that the “wrong number” is the white elephant in the story that isn’t talked about until one-third through the story.

The story recovers after the 33% mark and eventually became thrilling and exciting. Up until the end, where all of a sudden, there is a plug for the sequel. This installment alone was long and stretched. The plot was fairly simple, and a lot of the story was stretched too long, with insights being spoon-fed to us, instead of allowing the lightbulb moments to appear organically. This could have been edited to be half as long, and if so, then there probably wouldn't have been a need for a sequel.

I received an ARC from the publisher through NetGalley.
