This was a surprisingly good read. There weren't many reviews, so I went in pretty blind. It started off with a bang, a city seemingly terrorized by beasts that come prowling every night and if you're not indoors.. well you won't be around come morning. But when Charlotte ends up outside after dark, the king of beasts realizes she's his mate. What unfolds is a whirlwind romance, plenty of action and pack business. I loved the fighting and how much authority Gabe demanded. And how he basically wooed Charlotte instead of dumping everything on her about being mates and expecting her to get with it or else. Then there was the drama of trying to figure out who was truly a danger to Charlotte. I must say I was surprised at the turn of events in that regard. Like damnnnn, you fooled us all. It got dropped to 4 stars because the pov would change with no notice and you wouldn't figure it until you were a few sentences in. That messed me up a few times. Big cliffhanger at the end.
I mean, 2014-2016 me was addicted to werewolf stories. Particularly, werewolf stories on Wattpad.
I know
i know
Were there many grammar errors? Yes. Would I reread this story? No. Did it have an interesting plot? Yes. Was it easy to follow? Heck no.
I was confused multiple times while reading this and the only reason why I stuck around to the ending was because the plot was good. (Listen, I watched 3 seasons of House of Anubis. I suffered through bad acting and MANY stereotypes for a good plot don't @ me)
Why did I read this you may ask? Literally none of my bookmarks on Ao3 have updated in 2 days and I'm slowly going insane.
This book left me torn, ending hard to swallow. 3 and half stars
I really must tell you, this book was jacked t.f up! The ending just guts you to the bone, I'm not sure if that was a cliffhanger or just an ending that leaves you unsatisfied. Regardless I enjoyed the book, and would really love to see it continue if possible. I feel like love really needs to overcome in this one, it just can't end this way I keep telling myself. Please make this book right for us....
This was honastly such a great book, the plot was so well developed and the transitions from scene to scene were only made better by the beautiful writing style. I absolutely adored the main character, she was very spirited yet sensible at the same time. And for once the main love interest didn't seem like a total jerk that didn't respect boundaries. Shoutout to the author for writing this fine piece of literature.
This book was written in an unforgettable way. The plot is beautiful, and the characters are realistic and sensible. There is absolutely no way I can ever forget this story, so I will soon be buying a copy when I can. Been with the author through this, and I must say I'm really proud and happy for her. If anyone has shown me that reaching a dream is possible, it's been Miss Jamiee Lynne. If you read King of Beasts, you'll find that you're sitting at the edge of your seat; not wanting to put the book down.
This book was extremely well written, had very whimsical writing style of a true fairy tale. Loved the plot and characters. Does anyone know if this will be a series? Please tell me yes,
This is a spoiler review for people who aren’t sure if they want to buy the book, that want to know if the story is worth it beyond the other reviews that tell you literally nothing
I read the first chapter of this book as a sample in another book. So I immediately went and got it on KU amd read it all. Writing this at 2am because I couldn't put it down.
The story is gripping and keeps you guessing the characters are very believably human and the mystery paranormal magic science spirituality and suspense keeps you inthralled it's addictive can't wait to see the next adventure of Charlotte and Gabe !!!
Cliffhanger but a good one. I like the storyline it was a bit different from the other mated shifter books out there. I would consider this book clean. I’m looking forward to the next installment.
I found this book really peculiar. Most the time I had no clue what was going on but I needed to see the end. Which btw was a cliff hanger, gonna read the second just to see what happens
I had to really think about what to rate this book and I changed my mind a few times. also is that Stephan Amell?!
The writing style was amazing such a breath of fresh air. Sometimes when written from third person point of view it can get kind of confusing or weird but not once in the this book. It was almost like poetry. That said there were some parts that were over explained and I ended up skimming through some parts of the beginning and middle, I get it, her eyes are green.
SPOILER ALERT
This book had me crying. As soon as reached 74% read on my kindle I knew I wasn't going to like the end, I am a sucker for happy endings. Nevertheless I was completely on edge and couldn't put down the book until I finished I needed to put together the pieces of the puzzle.
I am just not of fan of let down endings. I know the guy can't always get the girl and the hero doesn't always triumph but that doesn't mean I like to read about those times. More so, I HATE open endings...gah I do. I hate when author just leaves you wondering. I am a person that needs answers!!
I had to give the book 3 stars because of my personal preferences. I hate the feeling of reading a sad book. bah humbug.
This story is beautiful, strange and mysterious, with two wonderful characters that you'll fall in love with. Loved the twist at the end, although it made me cry and scream at the author for the sad ending, but also made me want to know more of their story. Two things I found difficult, was the author's voice and the confusing story line. Sometimes it became hard to keep up because it makes use of too many metaphors. The second one is that the story becomes confusing at times and I wish some characters were more developed, as antagonists or supportive characters. Also, a clearer explanation of who and what the Elders were, from where did they come from and so on, because at some points in the story I wished I understood them better and it would have helped the story. Maybe the author kept some things for the next books (in case if it's a series), but if it's not, then I would have loved some clarification in certain aspects of the story. I have given it 5 stars because of its potential and I do hope the author will write a second book, and why not a third :D, where some things will be explained in a much clearer way. I would love to learn more about the two characters and see where their story goes, especially with what a good cliffhanger she left us.
What I liked: The plot of the story was great. I loved this take on werewolves, and the relationship between the heroine and hero was fun to watch develop. The heroine was a spitfire who spoke her mind, and remained strong even in the face of everything. The hero knew what boundaries were and respected them. No one is what they seem, and I love books that take twists and turns like the ones in this book. Overall great book and I would have given a higher rating but...
What I didn't like: I started reading this book because I thought it was a standalone novel since the amount of series I'm reading was breaking my heart with cliffhangers. This book doesn't end in a cliffhanger, but IS left wide open (I'm talking as wide as the back of a hospital gown) for a sequel and possibly even turning into a series and there certainly isn't a HEA. I try not to read reviews before a book so as to have an unbiased opinion so I didn't see this coming. I don't need a HEA, but being under this assumption (because a quick search will show there's no talks of a follow up book) I would've preferred something more neatly wrapped up, even if it's not a standalone.
There were some parts of this story that had me on the edge of my seat. Holy hell I wanted Gabe to be able to find a solution to keep Charlotte happy, healthy, and alive. I wanted into know there would be more stories of the two of them. I was very sad in the end. I don't want black haired Jane to be the new Charlotte. All of those emotions Made this a story I really got into. Now for the reasons for the three star rating. This was one of the most, rushed books I've read in a long time. There was little to no back story to either of the main characters, which makes it hard to care much about them at first. There are still things that I'm not sure I really understand. There were several editing errors through out the book. This kind of thing can be overlooked occasionally. However it became clear that certain grammatical errors were not though to be errors by the author. Using the word anyways is only ok if the person talking is a toddler or totally uneducated!!!
I found this to be enjoyable, for the most part, but definitely lost me at aroumd 60% or so. I found that the plot was set at the beginning, with good development of the relationship between Gabe and Charlotte, but then became very convoluted when other elements were added in. Once we start to learn more about Charlotte (no spoilers), I just started to become uninterested. it wasn't that I wasn't interested in adding more to the plot, but more so of what was being added in. I felt that the author was trying to add as much as possible, but ended up losing the direction that we were meant to go. The ending was lackluster and didn't leave me feeling much emotion, even though I know it should have been something to make me feel for. I thought it had a strong start, but it just lost that grip as the book went on. This was alright for passing the time, but I don't see myself ever coming back to this again. This is one of those books where you'll either love it, or you'll feel a bit disappointed knowing it could have been better.
I think I enjoyed this book, at least until the end.
So many things didn’t make sense. So much of the world didn’t make sense.
So much about the characters didn’t make sense.
Even now that I’m done I’m still so confused it’s ridiculous.
But the romance... well, I liked it. Maybe even loved it. It was clean, no sex, which I appreciated. Without all the random confusing stuff that was never explained, this book could be insanely fantastic.
Minus the ending, of course. That was plain stupid because it is NOT a happily ever after but could’ve been if she just added one more confusing thing that also didn’t make sense. That ending is the possibility of a maybe happily ever after, which does not fly for me.
So I should probably give this book 3 stars, but you know, I’m actually nearly sort of sure that I loved it so four stars it is.
Keep writing Jamiee, you have some serious potential, and I would love to keep reading.
Definitely one of the better stories I've read on Wattpad!
It's well written, and has actually been checked for grammar from what I can tell. That's a big deal to me, because it shows that the author actually cares about what he/she puts out there and, you know, it makes it more readable!
I loved the character development here! I only wish i had taken up some more space, as it did run pretty quickly. The plot, while familiar in some ways, was done splendidly. I don't always look for superb originality if the writing is at least done well, and I think it's fair to say that that HAS been done here.
Wow this book was amazing I have never read a paranormal story so intriguing so on point and there was a story line that just wasn't about love and happily ever after it was complex they had to deal with all kinds of adversities lies all kinds of people with plans of their own in the ending was just so phenomenal energies transcend what I thought about reading a paranormal story is about in I am proud the author for giving this book a chance a bring it forth right to how a real story is supposed to be ridden I loved it!!!
This book started off with a great storyline. I had to reread some parts just to understand what the heck was going on. In my perspective the ending truly sucked...someone else might say that was incredible, but I beg to differ. I really liked the book until I saw it going in the wrong direction. With that said, if you like books with adventure, love and plenty of secrets, then this book is for you.
So I read this book, and I thought it was going to be your typical werewolf book(you can read this book on Wattpad for free) and let me just say, this book was far from it. It was left on such a huge cliff hanger and I was absolutely shell shocked at the ending. It is an amazing story and I suggest reading it . I hope the author comes out with book two soon because I’m soo excited to see where the story heads next.
I really liked this book but it ends on a cliffhanger so be aware. It was a very good plot and can’t wait until the next book. I like the story line but I think this would definitely be a series as they are a lot of questions unresolved. Make sure you read the last chapter which is NOT in the audiobook but in the kindle ebook version. I am glad I did otherwise I would have given it 2 stars due to the sad “ending”
I honestly expected so much more from this author. I love her, I love all the books I’ve read from her they are great. this one the writing was so strange to me I was not a fan, the timeline was confusing. I couldn’t tell who was talking and when. I guessed the ending, but didn’t really care for it. It was more of a fade to Black. I feel like the plot had so much potential, but it just fell short.
