2.8 stars As far as pulp horror fiction goes, this one isn't very off the rails, which is a shame as thats what I look for in the genre. The Doll With the Opal Eyes alludes to being demonic horror, but the closest we get to the supernatural is a couple of nightmares and a gut feeling. Its more of a mystery, sort of gothic. Theres a character whose dialogue reminds me a bit of Mr. Rochester, so that was fun. It was cheap, mildly entertaining and quick. Nothing to write home about, but I like the cover art so its a fun addition to my collection. (incidentally, the artist doesn't seem to be credited anywhere. Does anyone know who might have painted it?)
