Raging Heart On

Rate this book
Her biological clock is a ticking time bomb.
He’s got the tool it takes to get the job done…And then some.

Kayla:

Life has never been great.
If not for White Lucas and his family, I might have been on the streets.
They showed me what family was—what I always wanted.
Now I'm nearing thirty, I want my own family.
The problem is there’s no man in the picture.
When White volunteers his services, I should say no.
Making a baby with my best friend could ruin everything.
Couldn’t it?

White:

Kayla is my best friend. She has been for fifteen years.
In all that time I’ve never once thought of her as more than a buddy, a pal.
Then something happened.
We kissed.
It was good. Really good.
So good that now it’s all I can think about.
When she hatches a crazy scheme to have a baby, it’s my duty to stop her.
Right?
And offering my uh…services is the least I can do.
I’m just looking out for her.
As any friend would do.
Any red-blooded man who is frustrated and dying for more.
She wants a baby?
I’m there.
With A Raging Heart On.

Complete Stand Alone with No cheating and a Happy Ending all inside. Book two of the Lucas Brothers series but can be read completely on its own and is self-contained.

WARNING: This book contains friends turning into lovers, a meddling mother who keeps trying to help them out, a whole lot of baby making and all the hotness that implies. Hope you enjoy!

I'm just a simple small town country girl, haunted by Alpha Men who talk in my head 24 hours a day.

I knew I wanted to write when it became clear I couldn't be happy with just viewing other people's stories. I always wanted to rewrite them.

Like why did Jack have to die? Why couldn't Rose move her butt over? Because that was a huge piece of wood she was on, people.

Happy Endings should be fought for, but they should always happen. Mine might take some curves and twists, but they eventually get there.

Having published over fifty stories, it always feels surreal that this is my life. Hitting USA Today had me crying for days, but nothing is more special than hearing from readers that they loved one of my books.

Overall Opinion: This was ok for what it was. I wasn't expecting anything really deep and meaningful, and so I wasn't disappointed. It was fun to get the kookie mom and rest of the family that we met in The Perfect Stroke again, as they provided some fun laughs. I am always drawn to unrequited love type situations for some reason, and this hit the spot for that. I did appreciate that we didn't experience the H whoring it up at all once their relationship changed from being just friends. I felt like some of the family drama was a little OTT, and was thrown in for just drama's sake -- but I'd probably complain if it didn't have any drama too, so I guess I'm ok with it ;)

Brief Summary of the Storyline: This is Kayla and White's story. They've known each other since high school when White's brother stands up Kayla for her prom and he steps in. They develop a strong friendship that lasts through the years, but Kayla has always held a torch for White. Kayla finally has decided to give up her fantasy of being more than friends with White, and has decided to get married to another man so she can start a family. White is outraged, and steps in to try to talk her out of it. There is some dancing around each other, some sexy times, and some family drama...but they do get a HEA ending.

POV: This alternated between Kayla and White's POV.

Overall Pace of Story: Good. I never skimmed, and I thought it flowed well. It did end at 53% on my kindle app, but luckily I was prepared for this one...but just beware other readers -- it has my dreaded "bonus" book in it ;)

Instalove: No, they've known each other for many years (they already do love each other in a way at the beginning of the story).

H rating: 4 stars. White. I liked him. He was all in and fully committed to the h from the start. I think it is sad that he was oblivious with the h and her feelings for him before, but I did feel like he made up for it.

h rating: 3.5 stars. Kayla. I liked her, but her insecurities became a little too much for me at times.

Sadness level: Low/moderate. There were a few stray tears, but that was mainly because I am a sucker for unrequited love type stories (and that is how it starts out).

Push/Pull: A little

Heat level: Moderate/high. They have some hot chemistry and scenes. At times it felt like a little too much, but I wouldn't say it crossed that line into interfering with (or replacing the) storyline.

Descriptive sex: Yes

Safe sex: Yes. Mentions of STD status and birth control. I don't remember any mention of previous practices.

OW/OM drama: Yes

Sex scene with OW or OM: No

Cheating: No

Separation: No

Possible Triggers: Yes

Closure: This had a cute jump ahead epilogue with a HEA ending.

How I got it: It was part of my kindle unlimited subscription.

Safety: I'd say this one should be Safe for most readers.

Once the hero stopped being such a blind idiot he became pretty amazing. He was seriously obsessed with her after their first kiss actually even before. I normally don't like this trope of unrequited love from the heroine's side but in this book I could overlook hero's slutty ways because he genuinely didn't have feelings for her apart from friendship so he never hurt he deliberately in flaunting ow around her, did I like that all theses years he didn't notice her? NO! But once he did the guy was ott for her in every way. In my eyes he was def redeemed, on a side note so glad he didn't sleep with Rachel (h's sister) as nothing could have fixed him for me if he had!

To say that I was surprised by this book is an understatement. At first I wrote this book off but through further conversation I decided that I'm much to much of a masochist not to read this...just to see how bad it could be.

From the synopsis we see that our heroine has been in love for the last 15 years with her best friend, the hero. However, the Hero has never seen her in any way except a friend. This can be a sketchy area because most of the time the heroine comes across as a total doormat that at the first peak of the Hero's feeling or affections just rolls over for him. Typically, the heroine would make excuses for the Hero's behavior regardless of what he says or does.

As a female I am disgusted by heroines like that. I want to throat punch them because I feel they give women a bad name....and it makes it look like in order to get love we have to give up our own wants and needs because nothing is more important than satisfying our man.

description

I am pleased to say I did not get that type of heroine though. I felt that our heroine, Kayla, was rather strong. While she has been in love with the Hero, White, for the past 15 years she's not let that stop her from living. Big shocker here which totally goes against the standard cliche...SHE'S NOT A VIRGIN!!

Has her sex life been great...no, but I'm pleased that she's actually had one. I'm also pleased by the fact that she decided to get over White and move. She will always love him as they are best friends BUT she's determined to not "be" in love with him any more. Now, yes, if you've read the sample you know there was a catalyst to that decision but the point still remains that SHE CHOSE TO LET GO (if you've seen that spoiler or read that sample please don't let it discourage you from reading this book...its not what you think). Plus when White pulled his head from his ass he chased her she didn't immediately give in. In fact, she kept part of herself separate from him because of her concern over losing him as a friend. She decided that a friendship with him was more important than unrequited love.

Now, don't get me wrong while I'm a fan of Kayla I didn't particularly love her all of the time. She did make some decisions that drove me up a wall, however, I completely understand them. Still doesn't make them right though. Its hard to trust that someone has changed when for as long as you've known them they've told you one thing...this thing being...White doesn't want children BUT he is willing to give "her" a child.

description

Yes...White could be quite confusing sometimes.

Now, on to White. Honestly, I thought he would be a complete asshole. I mean, come on', his best friend has been in love with him and he's never noticed her. He's not hid his manwhorish ways from her BUT he never threw them in her face either. Basically...he's been a guy. A very hot, popular, professional football player guy. He's never lacked options.

BUT...while we are aware of his past I have to say that in this book...he was completely drool worthy and sweet. He is the perfect description of Book Boyfriend

description

One of the best things about White is that he does love Kayla. Yes, its only been as a friend but he does love her and does consider her his best friend (its not one sided in this book like soo many others). As most men are dense, sometimes it takes a wake up call to see whats right in front of them. The author did a very good job of showing this revelation to White and within him. He slowly comes to the realization that he not only wants to give Kayla what she wants (a child) but he wants to be a family with her.

This realization is huge because for years White has been anti commitment, anti children, and anti marriage. I love how the author didn't follow another standard romance cliche of having the Hero realize that he's been in love with the heroine his whole life. For White he really only looked at Kayla as a best friend. Yes, he loved her but he wasn't in love with her. He filled the best friend role perfectly - taking her to prom when she didn't have a date, going to the introduction dinner between her and her fiance's family, willing to give her a child even though he's never wanted one...yeah, things like that proved his love for Kayla to me. For this reason, I can over look his past.

But when White did realize he was in love with Kayla and wanted to be with her he chased her hard! There was no other woman for him besides Kayla. He wanted her and he was determined to get her.

"You made me forget every woman in here, Kayla. Every woman but you"

The supporting characters were great. My favorite being Ida Sue. When I grow up I want to be Ida Sue. Most of the humor from this book came from this woman's mouth and actions. Plus, you have to know that a woman who names her son's colors and her daughter's flowers had to be a little quirky and slightly fabulous (White's full name is White Hall...he got that name because he was conceived in a white hall...seriously, can't make this shit up!). The brothers were were awesome and I'm looking forward to their books (Petal's book is next though).

So, to sum it up this was a great book and quite surprising. For the safety gang..I consider it safe because while we were aware of White's past and there were jokes made of some of past women he was in no way a manwhore in this book. We never saw him with OW and we didn't get any detailed scenes of him (past or present) with OW besides saying..they hooked up.

I would most def recommend this book to anyone looking for a quick, funny, romantic read about a Hero who falls head over heals for the heroine.

The other one was better.

Still, it was a pretty sweet read, relaxing and fun. Even the writing was ok and it kept me hooked to this book at moments, so that's a plus.
Perfect read for a lazy day!

"Raging Heart On" is the story of Kayla and White.

Heroine has loved the hero, who is her best friend for ages. They have practically grown up together, and he considers her more an annoying sibling, than a romantic interest. When there's an incident involving her half sister, the heroine decides to move on- and the hero doesn't like it. She wants to have a child, and the hero isn't happy with her choice of potential partners. As expected, he takes it upon himself, but the heroine makes decisions which causes complications..

Loads of drama and miscommunications in this one. I found her actions absolutely insane, and I wish we saw more of his change of heart.

It was ok!

The heroine is there loving hero from a distance while he has sex with anything that moves. He sees her as one of the guys only and not as a woman.
But the scenes are interesting and reading will holding the reader's attention.
The family of the hero is crazy and I love his mother.

Recommend and I'm waiting for the story of the sister of the hero.

Trigger: since they were childhood friends and hero is a manwhore clearly he slept around after knowing her. She wasn't a virgin either. But no cheating, once the relationship started he was faithful.
I would love to read about all the Lucas brothers now, except for probably Cyan, no judgement there, but exhibitionism is not my thing at all!

DNF: what a mess👀

The entirety of their friendship was told and not shown. These people are supposed to be BFFs for over 15 years, yet their closeness is non-existent.

The romantic plot is messy, unbelievable, and lacking in depth. I found myself skimming the chapters, yet still didn't manage to finish this book 🛑

I am so loving this family and all of their crazy antics. This is a friend to lovers' tale with Kayla and White. Let's jump right into the nitty gritty. Kayla and White have been friends forever and a day. When her biological clock begins to tick so loud, she cannot hear anything else it is time to take action. White isn't sure if this will change them, but he needs to put this idea out there and offer up his services.
This couple is sweet, emotional, funny and yes can bring in on the sexy heat!

Brilliant second book!

Jordan Marie is a genius!!! I mean she has an amazingly brilliant mind to come up with such amazing characters time and time again. From now on I'm just going to one click buy all her books without hesitation!
This series is about love and family with some screwed up beyotchs thrown in just to make the story more drama filled! This is White and Kayla's story, a friend's to lovers romance. I freaking love those!!! White...alpha male football star. Kayla... Abused orphaned girl taken in by the Ida Sue Lucas and the story begins. The Lucas family is one crazy lol family with boys all named after colors and the girls after flowers. I love Ida Sue and Jensen but if my mom was that open about life and sex I would loose my mind! But it's funny as sh`+ to read about! Book 2 better than book 1, only because I loved Kayla more than cc! Each Lucas sibling is off the charts hot, funny and many many more adjectives! Just buy these books!
Re-read as audible. Not in love with the voices but love this family!✌️

Recensione a cura di Morgana per Feel the Book

Voto 3,5

Raging Heart On was ok. It was entertaining and that was what I needed at that moment. Sadly, when compared with book one in the Lucas Brothers series, The Perfect Stroke , Raging Heart On just doesn't live up.

Raging Heart On is a "friends to lovers" tale which brings the reader back to the loving arms of the Lucas Family. Kayla has been pining for her BFF, White, for the last 15 years and has finally decided to give up the ghost. She's decided to settle marry someone she doesn't love to have a family. White walks into this bomb and loses his mind. He's aghast and dismayed that Kayla wants to have children and NOW and will marry (or try to have random stranger sex) in order to get preggers.

So. I am NOT a fan of pining. I'm more of a "get in where I fit in" kind of girl. So Jordan Marie started losing me right there.

Regardless, White loses his little mind and decides he's going to date Kayla and get her pregnant. Which then starts the BigMis "if we had only talked!" song and dance. And I hate that song and dance.

Also, Raging Heart On just wasn't very funny. In comparison to The Perfect Stroke or by itself. I didn't get a single chuckle until around 30% or so. Ugh. The laughs came a lot more often when the reader gets to hang out with a large group of the Lucas family, thank goodness. And Ida Mae continued to bring the LOLs. My favorite line(s) in the entire book came from sister Lotus Petal:

“Whatever happened to Candy anyway?”
“Her boobs exploded and caused what was left of her brain cells to run away,” Petal says, not bothering to look up from the newspaper.

-location 2812

SNIP

“I wasn’t being mean. I’m serious,” Petal defends. “She got some kind of thing on the internet that was supposed to inject air into your boobs and make them larger. She mixed it with some black market Botox solution that, in turn, interacted with her leaky implants. Ker-splash! Instant boob explosion. Them suckers went off like fireworks on the Fourth of July.”
-location 2817

Raging Heart On has the almost EXACT same plotline as The Perfect Stroke - not the blurb and set up, but the content plotline. Both brothers are big time professional sports players. Both heroines are atypical (looks, job, etc). Both heroines have half-sisters/step-sisters and fathers (step-father) that treat them like pure shit. Both sisters try to blackmail the heroes into marrying them instead of the heroines. Ida Mae comes to the rescue at the ending conflict in each book.

Final Verdict: Entertaining but not as good as The Perfect Stroke. And repetitive.

With each book, each page I more fall for Crayon Gang. They are hilarious, emotional combustion and royal as family should be. And I need more of them.

I loved Kayla and White together. They were witty, sexy and sweet. They both completed each other. Filling what was missing in theirs life.

Kayla has some issues, which comes from her childhood. When it was reveal what she's been through, I couldn’t believe it. I so was pissed and wanted to beat the shit out of someone's. It partly made me to understand her hang-ups. Because the way she saw herself disturbed me so much. Kayla is beautiful, sweet and loyal woman, that deserved for her all dreams to come true, but she was always putting herself down, always criticising herself and second guessing. It was painful to 'see' her like that and you just wanted to give her a big hug.

But also, Kayla made me sometimes so frustrated with her. There was a secret she kept from White. Those things always so irks me. At the beginning, I could understand her reasoning. But latter it was just... She was so lost in her misery, she wasn’t listening a word White was saying. He may not been exactly blunt with his words about his feelings, because he isn’t flowery guy after all, but he was opening his heart for her and claiming her with every unsaid word, with every touch. She just needed to open her eyes to see and to feel it. But that secret made her so unhappy, scared and insecure, even though she was living a dream with him, that Kayla just couldn’t see anything else. She wanted to tell him about it. Kayla even was close a couple of times, but each time fear was keeping her back. Sometimes I thought that her fear and insecurities were much stronger then her love for White. And that was so sad. Because being with someone, meant talking with him not only about your dreams but fears too. Not to mention, for you to be really happy with someone, there shouldn't be any secrets that could smear special thing for you.

And White.... I love that man. He's so bossy alpha. But also sometimes can be like a big kid, ready to cause mischief and make you laugh. On another time he can be really sweet, that you wish to cry happy tears, you are so touched by that side of his. I especially loved his possessiveness. Those growly caveman moments of his... Sighs. In all he was a perfect hero with his flaws, that made him even more ideal. Though, I have to say, while I'm sitting at this review, I couldn’t come up with not even one flaw of White. Lol.

5 White and Kayla Stars

I love this series! This is the second book about the Lucas Brothers and it focuses on White and his best friend Kayla. If you enjoy the friends to lovers trope then be aware that this will be like Kindle catnip to you.....highly addictive and you just can't possibly leave it alone.

White is quite a different hero to his brother Grayson , who featured in the first book. (they are both very alpha though) As a couple, Kayla and White have a different vibe to them because they are best friends. Kayla has adored White and crushed on him forever but he has only ever seen her as his best friend. I cringed a couple of times- at one point White tells Kay that he has always seen her as asexual. Ouch!!!! Well, fear not fellow romantic diehards, he isn't seeing her as asexual for long. These two share a kiss that gives substance to all the hot thought s and fantasies White' s been having about his bestie. The gloves, and clothes, come off and the chemistry between them burns White hot (see what I did there?!) …anyway, what they have is beautiful. Kay has been damaged by events from her childhood. At one point her low self esteem was becoming very intense but when you learn why you have the urge to hug her and kick those responsible to the kerb in her defense.

White is lovely. Kind of charges around , emotionally speaking, but he clearly adores our heroine & watching him fall in love was magical.

Fabulous to see the other characters and learn more about them. Petal has a novella coming in the Spring & I'm not sure which brother has his story next....anyone else hoping it's Cyan and Alice???

This book ended at 58% but it is a normal length novel, it has a bonus novel after it.
Dual pov.
HEA? Awwwww yeah!
Cheating? No
Great read & I'm itching for more!

Recommend over 18's only due to sexual content and swearing. Recommend not drinking coffee in public places whilst reading as laugh out loud moments will induce you to choke/ spit out said beverage ;)

This was another good read in the trilogy. I love this family so much. They make me laugh with their craziness. I was glad that White finally came to his senses. Kayla really deserved to finally get justice against her sister and stepfather. They were horrible people. Most importantly they got their HEA.

I honestly didn’t think Jordan Marie could top Gray. I love him and CC. But White…good golly miss molly. He was awesome.

I seriously love friends-to-lovers stories. I love how jealous and alpha the guys get when they realize they’re about to lose the woman they didn’t realize they were in love with. And White was no exception. I loved how alpha he went when he found out that that his best friend, was going to marry someone he didn’t know she was even dating. I loved the family dinner he went to with her, and how he was all protective. I loved how jealous he got, how he started to realize that she should be with him.

I’ll admit, I haven’t read many books by Jordan Marie, but I need to seriously start on her backlist. I was hooked from page one of this story. It was super hot, like off the charts! The first time they kissed…off the charts hot!

I did love the friendship between them, it went back a long time, and they were definitely close. I loved how she was already part of the Lucas family.

My one issue with Kayla is that she never believed that White actually wanted her. They initially started a relationship because Kayla wanted a baby, but it turned into more, and even thought White told her that, she never believed him. I won’t give everything away, but there was something Kayla did that I knew would come back to bite her in the butt…and I was right, it did. White was not happy when he found out. Even though he was mad, there wasn’t a time when he walked away from her, when he gave up on them. She was it for him, from the moment that he decided he wanted her.

I definitely love Jordan Marie’s writing, and I can’t wait for books about the other Lucas brothers!

5 STARS!

I'm a long-time Jordan Marie fan, I'm not even going to pretend that I'm not. This author's writing is fantastic, and she has this natural ability to tell a story that is rare and special. Whether it's a raw and gritty MC story or, as newly evidenced by this series, a romantic comedy/contemporary romance, I honestly believe there is nothing that Jordan Marie can't write and write well.

This is the second book in the Lucas Brothers series, and this is White and Kayla's story. White and Kayla are best friends, and while Kayla has long harbored deep love for him, she's buried it opting to keep him in her life as her best friend rather than chase the commitment-phobe quarterback away with a declaration of love. It isn't until Kayla decides that she needs to pursue her dream of a husband, a home, a family, that White realizes what is at stake and what he's about to lose. The ensuing tale is sexy, funny and full of twists and turns.

Fans of Jordan's are probably saying to themselves, "A romantic comedy?! From Jordan Marie?!" Believe me when I say that you need not be concerned. The core of what Jordan's fans love most about her writing - complex, interesting characters; a well-rounded, richly developed plot; and a sexy love story - are all here. It's just presented in a more lighthearted, laugh-out-loud format then what her readers have seen from her previously. I loved everything about this book, and I'm excited to see what's next for the Lucas clan!

Every time I pick up a new book written by the amazing Hordan Jordan Marie, I tell myself there is no way I will love it more than the last and every time she proves me wrong. I love her bikers, but there is just something about the Crayola gang and their wild family that makes me wanna come on over for Sunday dinner and stay forever until they kick me out. I need Ida Sue to be my mom, she's sorta perfect. The whole crew brings something wonderful to the table. Kayla and White, their chemistry and banter was phenomenal. I need my very own White Hall Lucas, seriously I proposed and Hammy mooed so I think this is a go.

Jordan Marie did it again. The moment I realized I had White, I did nothing else until I was finished reading. No sex (well not until after, had a raging heart on that needed addressed), no cleaning (house a disaster! and company coming), no talking (the hubs almost got shanked because he wouldn't leave me alone).

White and Kayla made me laugh, made me cry, and got me right in the feels. Reading their story just reaffirmed to me that I claimed the right crayon. I'm waiting for you Cyan! You kinky bastard!

Kayla is best friends with White, a football player currently on the DL with a shoulder injury.

K wants a baby and is apparently willing to marry anyone in order to do this, including a d-bag man. White steps into stop her from making a mistake. And the plot gets deeper from there.

I really liked this because the plot was complicated - in a good way - and still made sense and the book didn't follow the typical romantic trope. I would have liked Kayla to be a little stronger, however.

Good conclusion and HEA.

Seducente.

Ironico.

Amorevole.
