This sturdy alphabet board book introduces simple seasonal words to get toddlers excited about Halloween. Along with letters to say out loud, there are bright pictures featuring lots of happy faces and familiar spooky details to spot.
One of Rowan's favorite abc books. He loves saying "Zom-BEE!" The illustrations are pretty basic and a couple of the words seem too tricky for early abc learners, but that doesn't seem to deter Rowan at all. He's all in, and will bring it into the bedroom to read on the bed (which is partly a sleep-avoidance tactic, but irresistible so I'm not complaining). Solid win.
This book gives one page to each letter and has great contrasting pictures that are age appropriate. It avoids having pumpkin and jack'o'lantern or anything too closely related like that, so every letter has a distinct item or action related to Halloween. Because it is a one word per page book, it will only really keep the interest of those children still learning the alphabet after the first read.
My only complaint is the same I have with most alphabet books. There are vowel pages that don't use short vowel sounds. The E and O pages feature words that do not start with the sounds children usually learn first for those letters.
Overall, a simple, fun, seasonal book for babies and toddlers with attention-grabbing illustrations that won't scare them.
It is a good book for kids to read when they are just starting to learn about the alphabet. It combines a holiday, Halloween, with the ABCs.
As I stated earlier, I think this would be a good book for kids who are just starting to learn about the alphabet. I think ages 2-4 to kindergarten would benefit from reading this book since the alphabet is usually being learned at these ages.
I liked this book because I love Halloween and I thought it was a cute way to get kids to learn their ABCs. I think younger readers would really like this book, and they would be very intrigued by the pictures. I would suggest this book to kids who are just starting to learn about the alphabet and their parents.
Cute little ABC book for children. It's Halloween themed- so what's not to love?
I didn't notice any typos, but it would be hard for proof readers to miss in this size of a book anyway. Perfect for new readers. Simply cartoon pictures with one word- as you might expect from a board ABC book. The pictures are cute, and make it easy to figure out the word if a child is struggling to pick-up reading.
This is another book I read to my one-year-olds that they loved. I thought the illustrations and Halloween theme really engaged the kids and made the ABC's much more enjoyable.
This book was challenged, and I'm not sure why! It's a great seasonal read for children learning the alphabet and has great Halloween elements that will get them curious about the holiday!
This was Jimmy's favorite book from approximately August until November (7-11 months.) One of his first words was "baby" and he would exclaim this with glee whenever we got to V for vampire (or baby, obviously.) Now, he has new favorite illustrations and letters/words.
Halloween themed ABC's?! What could be better? Not much, I tell you. The kiddos loved going through each letter of the alphabet and guessing what the picture for each letter was. There were only two or three letter and picture combinations that they did not know, but when given hints... they were able to guess almost immediately! Singing the ABC's to close out the book solidified the ABC's even more. This book is absolutely going on my list to read during future Halloween's!
This is a fun ABC book suited for Halloween. Some of the letters are predictable, like G- ghost, but there are some lesser known words as well, C-cauldron, which makes this a good book for adding new vocabulary to younger students.
