I loved the premise of a mail order bride for two brothers in a snowbound Colorado town, but the execution was off. The language was so contemporary porn in tone and content that it just didn't work for me, at all. Honestly, this would have worked much better if the author had abandoned the late nineteenth century and set it in modern times. As it was, it made cringe. I like "riding cocks" and "slut" talk, but it was ludicrous coming from the characters.
Whew! Pull out the fan and the iced cold water because you are going to need it to control the out of control heat in this burning romance!
Celia is a widow but circumstances have moved her to sign up as a mail-order bride. Little did she know what – or who – she was getting into! Luke and Walker were brothers who were in circumstances of their own that required they take a bride. One bride. They got along well enough but sharing a woman was uncharted territory for them and their town. The question was, was either of them ready?
I love this author’s writing style and characters that always have heart and humor along with outrageous sex appeal. With one brother more open and the other broodier than a wet hen, it didn’t take long for Celia to get over the shock of two husbands when it meant the intimacy she had longed for. Their full-on courtship may have been measured in minutes but it’s all in how they used them! And they used them just fine.
“We put her first. Sure, we might tie her up and spank her ass, even fuck it, too, bud she’d like it. No, she’d love it.”
This was a short but sizzling read with just enough conversation for all three main characters to be likable as well as completely irresistible. The brothers are strong, alpha males for sure. Once they realized what they had in their new bride, they put out all the stops to ensure all her desires were met. Good thing it met theirs to a T!
With a bit of danger and a whole lot of heat, this novella was a spicy treat to warm any winter night! ~ Diane, 4 Stars
Celia the pear shaped babe-o-liscious, walker and luke the two dimensional hunks. DNF @ 70% well i dont really know why i expected more... blah blah history dump... blah blah sex blah sex maniacle evil dude blah blah sex sex sex.... etc. and dont forget the wooden butt plugs bought at the local brothel... cringe!
What i love about cella that she isnt sham from her want .And beleve in herself that her old marriage not broke her but give her strength to take her want .But i dont like her the share.Still the have one bride why not two.
Shy If you are looking for a hot and steamy menage book that will have you flying through the pages and not wanting to put it down until the last page is read, then look no further.
This story is about Celia, who after witnessing her husband be murdered, decides to become a mail order bride. But when she travels to Colorado to meet her new husband, she learns she's gained not one, but two. Luke is the mayor of a small Colorado town that has enacted a new law allowing two men to be married to the same woman and so he now must set the example and shares Celia with his brother Walker. Both men go into the marriage looking for something different from it, but circumstances and more importantly Celia herself have them wanting more and they all find themselves caught up in something that may be more than they ever imagined possible.
So this book completely took me by surprise. The premise had me interested when I read it, but the full story proved to be so much better than I even hoped for. Luke and Walker were attentive, supportive, protective and just wonderfully well written leading men. The very different personalities contrasted well but it all worked with Celia's personality. Celia was an enjoyable leading lady. She had a dissatisfying first marriage that ended in tragedy. The experience left her needing to escape not only the town she lived in but the dangers that lurked there. Her strength was clear in how she dealt with all the changes and how she had the courage to ask for what she wanted in hopes of finding happiness.
I would certainly recommend this to any fans of stories where two strong and interesting men give their all to one passionate and deserving woman.
Yesssssss! This was hot. As all Vanessa Vale books are. This had the most intense beginning of all her books. Each book is getting better and better. If you love books involving mail order brides and ménage goodness then you need to give Vale's books a shot.

I thought this M/M/F story was really rather good. My first time reading a western/cowboy type book. I found it quite an erotic read. I will definitely be reading #2 in this series. 4☆
I have some mixed feelings about this book. It was interesting and well written, and I liked Celia, Luke and Walker well enough. Celia's backstory bothered me somewhat, and I don't like when characters are widows, but considering that he was cheating on her, it kept it from being too depressing of her mourning him. However, Walker was a widower mourning his first wife, and I DO NOT like that in books. It's depressing and puts a sad taint on the book that keeps me from fully enjoying the book. So this wasn't the book for me. I gave it a chance because I like the author, but the widower thing made it pretty depressing. I was gifted a copy and decided to leave a review.
That was.... bad. I don't even know how to describe it.
Terrible dirty talk.
Bad plot with very minimum effort on the author's end.
**Spoiler alert!** She is literally kidnapped (saw that coming a mile away)... almost strangled to death by an irrationally crazy guy with a vendetta (eye-roll)... and then the guy is murdered by her husband... and five seconds later she begs her new husbands for some DP because she just needs them SO MUCH. Hahahaha It was amazing.
There's almost always jealousy by somebody and the woman often goes from being a strong, independent woman to being a doormat.
So, why did I download this? The cover. This isn't the first time I've gotten a book based on the cover and it won't be the last.
With that being said, I really enjoyed this. There was no silly jealousy or drama between the characters and Celia went from being her late husband's doormat to being strong and independent, even if she was now married to two protective men.
I also almost never read historical romance. Thankfully this one was different from some of the others I've read. While I didn't quite agree with so much contemporary lingo being used in a historical setting, I was able to overlook it because the story was good.
A really nice story. I'll be reading the others in the series.
The story of a mail order bride who finds herself the wife of two husbands with really big,- well, you know - this tale delivers just what you would perhaps expect and not a bit more.
After witnessing the murder of her husband and his mistress, Celia Lawrence flees to Colorado as a mail order bride. Luke Tate, mayor of Slate Springs, has just passed a law legalizing bride sharing in their town and felt duty obligated to be the first to try out the experience by sharing a wife with his brother Walker. He meets Celia and it is lust at first sight. The two head straight to the hotel and are deep into their lovemaking when Walker enters the room and watches the finale. Celia finds she is less repulsed than turned on by the experience and barely balks when told she will be the wife of both men. They proceed to form a menage that will satisfy them all.
The author tries to add a bit of depth to the tale by giving Celia a backstory and Walker a mysterious past but the story is primarily a shallow sex romp. The hot factor is ratcheted up by the menage situation but other than that the experience is pretty much basic erotica 101.
I received this book through freebooksy . This is an unsolicited honest review.
Holy crap this was a steamy historical menage erotica romance. This is a HEA, no cliffhanger story that you will not want to pass up. It was a great story that pulls you in and keeps you enthralled throughout the story. All though it was a romance it also has suspense with a stalker and action in many parts of the story. I loved the brothers as they are both alpha men who knows how to treat a women, their women, just right.
Brothers Luke and Walker Tate are residents of Slate Springs, which is a small western town in Colorado, and together they decide to find a woman who is willing to be their Mail Order Bride.
Celia Lawrence is a recent widow from Texas and the woman whose answer to the ad brings her by train to meet what she thinks is her husband Luke.
Finding out that in actuality she has married both brothers at first there is a bit of hesitation on her part but once the three are better acquainted there is no going back.
Short, steamy, western erotic romantic suspense leading the way into a series set in the late 1880's which is one of my favorite time periods.
Not really much more than the beginning for this threesome but enough to whet the readers appetite if a fan of the author and sexy times more than a fully fleshed out storyline.
A wanton read indeed. The characters were much more developed than I had expected from a short novel like this. It had a good story line and a lot of sex. If that's what you're looking for, you've hit Jackpot.
This fast-paced historical offers a taste of small town living, some hot and steamy scenes, and a slice of danger. Considering everything, I consider this a light read.

I've read a few Vanessa Vale books now, and this one is by far my favourite. This is the first book in a new series based in a small mining town in the mountains where a new law has been passed that two men can marry one woman. Vanessa Vale has once again successfully combined two of my favourite sub genres - historical romance and menage romance - a combination that you don't come across too often. It had romance, hot steamy sex, emotion and an interesting suspense storyline.
Luke is the mayor of Slate Springs and as he brought in the new law he is expected to set an example for the town by sharing a bride with his brother Walker. Luke turns to a mail order bride service, but he's not looking particularly looking forward to being married, he is doing it out of duty. Walker is even more reluctant to be married, as his first wife and unborn child tragically died. Celia is fleeing from her old life after her unfaithful husband was brutally murdered. Although she didn't kill him, the town still blamed her so she takes the only option she has - becoming a mail order bride. But she's shocked to discover that she hasn't just got one husband - she has two!
All three characters were likeable, but I especially loved Luke. He was very gentlemanly in public, but very naughty in the bedroom - the perfect combination! I really enjoyed the whole storyline, I can't really think of anything negative to say - except I wish it was longer as I didn't want it to end! Five stars.
I volunteered to read this story through an instafreebies giveaway for free and under no obligation to review.
When I started the story I thought it would be just any overdone and cliche plot with a lot of smut. I was still game for it but the author surprised me pleasantly when she added detailed plots behind all three characters.
The story was set in late 1800's which was amazing. The sex scenes were great. The chemistry was lovely.
My issues were twofold, one was that I felt the historical aspect of the story was unexplored. Which maybe too much expectation from an erotica but it was definitely lacking. The second was that the vague D/s references didn't add to the plot. The female protagonist's narrative mentioned she wanted to be dominated and it felt forced and over justification rather than actually adding anything to the plot.
The twists about her being a nurse and the ghost of her past were amazing!
I really enjoyed the story considering it's one of my favourite tropes.
I enjoyed this western menage with Celia, Luke, and Walker. Celia has come to Colorado as a mail order bride for Luke after her husband was murdered while sleeping with a married woman. She wants to change the way she has lived and after her first husband and no passion, she was ready for Luke. What she didn't know was she was also wed to Luke's brother, Walker, after their town, Slate Springs, passed a law which allowed a wife to have more than one husband. Since Luke is the mayor he is the first to have a bride to share with his brother. This is a sexy story that concentrates mostly on the three getting to know each other and what it will take to live together as husband and wife and husband. It was a pleasure to watch the brothers come together to make Celia feel not only welcome but loved...by both.
**I VOLUNTARILY REVIEWED AN ADVANCE READER COPY OF THIS BOOK**
Ok, wow! this book was powerfully erotic and sexy as all get out yet had many of my emotions coming to the surface as well. Its been a while since I found a menage romance that was GOOD outside of Cara Covington's Lusty Texas or Heather Rainier's Divine Creek Ranch Series, but Vanessa Vale did a marvouls job. Her characters are endearing and interesting and the passion is off the charts HOT and the story is just honestly irresistable.
I am looking forward to more stories by Vanessa Vale and I can't wait to see where else she leads us. This story will leave you breathless, hot, and antsy and will definitely have you moaning out loud a few times, that is for sure.
Its no wonder I give A Wanton Woman a DELICIOUSLY SMOKING FIVE SHOOTING STARS! Its worth the buy AND a reread.
It is now legal for two or more men to legally wed one woman!... when the narrative starts like this you know you've got the potential for a 'stimulating' story. Celia needed a new start after the murder of her husband , not that he was such an encouraging husband at all. Somehow the brother of his murderer blames Celia for the whole thing. Seems like there's no other option other than to offer to be a mail order bride. Luke is the mayor of a town that is extremely remote and has few women of marriageable age so he is looking for a bride to share with his brother Walker. When they saw Celia they knew she was everything they could imagine and more. Celia had no idea that she would be having two husbands.... Recipe for success -likeable characters, steamy encounters, add a little intrigue, a glass of wine. 5 Stars
I am a long term fan of Miss Vale's and I always make sure that I get her latest books when I found out that she was doing a new Menage series I jumped for joy as in my eye's that is where the author excels, not that her other books aren't just as good it is my personal opinion anyway my head was and heart were wondering how she could change things up and create a whole new world so to speak...... which she did this book is raw powerful and super smexy it has all the emotions and one in it.
The storyline was on point and the characters were awesome and super easy to fall in love with I am eager to see where she goes next with this series and who will fall in lust and love with the next bride although I have a slight inkling which I do hope I am correct.
Celia testified against the man who killed her husband and his mistress. When the man was hung, his brother vowed Celia would die the same way. Fearing for her life, Celia leaves town as a mail order bride.
In Slate Springs the men out number the women. Trying to fix the problem, a new law was passed allowing two men to wed one woman. Luke is the Mayor of Slate Springs and wants to set an example for the citizens. He convinces his brother, Walker, to share a wife. Watching their new wife exit the train, they both fall fast for the curvy beauty.
Ms. Vale's erotic westerns are addictive. Make sure you have a fan in hand while reading "A Wanton Woman," it's a panty melter. If you want a story about two real men doing all kinds of naughty things to their woman, then this book is for you. I was given this ARC and chose to review it.
I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review.
In 1880's Texas, Celia is homeless and penniless after her husband is killed. She has nowhere to go, so signs up for a mail-order bride service out of desperation and heads to Colorado, married to Luke. When she arrives at the train station, though, she finds out that due to the lack of women in town, she is also married to Walker. She is surprised but also intrigued. Unfortunately, there is a crazy stalker from Texas who is hunting her. The newlyweds have to figure out how to start their lives while dealing with a murderer. I would give this book 4 stars. It was unconventional but a good read.
I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of this book.

Celia will soon find out that the brothers will both be her husbands. Celia learns quickly that she enjoys having two dominant men in her bed. Unfortunately, trouble followed her from Texas and she is in grave danger. This is a sizzling hot menage romance with an exciting plot and sexy characters that find their second chance at happiness.
