About the author
Camilla d'Errico
53 books101 followersCamilla d’Errico is a product of her split heritage, Italian and Canadian rolled into one: Italian fiestiness, Canadian politeness, and an early addiction to Saturday morning cartoons, comics and manga. Growing up she was more often doodling sexy damsels and dragons on her textbooks than reading them. In 1998 when Camilla first attended her first San Diego Comic Con she realised that a 9–5 day job would kill her and this was what she wanted to do. Thanks to her relentless energy, dedication, and just enough sleep deprivation, she has followed her dream of working creatively for a living.
Camilla’s unique style continues to be in demand and her client list includes Dark Horse Comics, Image Comics, Random House, Tokyopop, Hasbro, Disney, Sanrio, Neil Gaiman and she also works with video game and movie companies on character development. Her own characters and properties, Tanpopo and Helmetgirls, are loved by fans and followers and now inspire Cosplay costumes. She has successfully merchandised and licensed her beautiful artwork across a variety of categories: clothing, stationery and gift, accessories, art prints, etc. and continues to expand her licensing program. Her emotive and eloquent paintings have propelled her to the top of the ranks of the New Contemporary art movement, and she is represented by Opera Gallery of New York.
Camilla can’t live without Holbein’s “DUO” water-soluble oils, green tea lattes, Hello Kitty merchandise, and her daily fix of manga and anime.

The art in the book is stunning. It is also kind of one note. Most of the art is a portrait of a girl with some kind of album resting on her hair.

I've seen Camilla d'Errico's work around the internet for a while and read(?) this on a whim. I really enjoyed this collection of pieces. Quite a few made me want to write little vignettes to go along with them; I may do that as some kind of writing project/challenge one day.

I loved this art book by camilla d'errico. Her artwork is amazing and doing it on plywood rocks too! Be sure to check it out. I got this as a prize at one of my library's reading programs. She is a great Canadian artist besides Steve McGinnis. Check her out at http://www.camilladerrico.com

A friend of mine is a big fan, so I wanted to see what makes this artist unique. While I can appreciate and respect her style, it's just not my cup of tea. She has an interesting balance of innocence and sensuality, tameness and wildness to her paintings. Everything is visual candy, but the doll faces of all the human subjects don't appeal that much to me.

Beautiful art of girls with anime eyes and animals that are too heavy to be sitting on their heads.

I was particularly curious about this book as I didn’t know Camilla d’Errico’s work. Starting with the cover, from what I observed, it was going to be gorgeous. When I opened the book, the first pages were so pretty and the art very colorful that I knew I was going to be in for a treat. The artist’s style is full of surprises. It catches your eyes with its vibrant and light colors. They create an innocent and captivating ensemble. The big eyes of the characters seem to look into your soul. It is as if you can feel the character’s emotion and story. This innocence (or not in some paintings) communicated through their big light colored eyes remind me of Keane’s paintings except with animals. You can almost touch a deep personal meaning in the art.
The thing is Camilla d’Errico’s art has something creepy but cute. There an in between, a sort of balance thanks to the light colors. Just so you know I hate spiders and Camilla d’enrico) achieved the hard task of making them cute. Unbelievable!! The girl and the animals are creating an atmosphere with their relationships. It can seem like a weird mix but some works, but in the end it looks like animals seem to want to be a scarf or head accessories. It is beautiful but at the same time disturbing which is in my opinion what art should be. You can perceived the evolution of her style and paintbrush techniques. I loved how she risked changing her style. I liked the presentation of the artworks in the book. My favorite were Muffler (2016), Minerva (2017), Ferme La Bouche (2016), Butterfall (2016) and La Madre (2017). The work exhibited for specific galleries is particularly amazing!
I loooove Camilla d’Errico’s work and I’ll definitely check more of her work in the future.

D'Errico's art is lovely and thought provoking. It speaks not just to the artistic community, but the comic community as well.
