Exiled and lonely, with only a stranger to rely on, young Genia set out on a long journey...a journey that would take her from a life of fear and quiet desperation into a world of money and power, of extraordinary glamour and outrageous temptations...

Resettled on American shores, Genia puts down roots and blossoms from awkward child into stunning Titian-haired beauty, sought after by men of wealth, intelligence, charisma. And, as her loveliness emerges, so too does her brilliance and her ambition to achieve a dream nurtured by the pain in her past.

AT last Genia is ready to dare to take on a profession dominated by men - and to overcome every obstacle in her pursuit of success as a topflight plastic surgeon... Yet at every step up the ladder she will be tested and tempted by passions she cannot deny.

I don't even remember when I first read this....late teens? Early twenties? Parts I loved, other parts I thought were dumb. Sometimes I loved Genie, other times I thought she had a stick up her ass. I thought Danny was romantic as hell. Then I thought he was a total jerk. But I had that book forever and it was battered to bits because I read it over and over and over.... I wonder what happened to it? I wonder if I'd still like it...

I read this book ages ago, forgot the name of the author and now I finally found it! I read all the 400+ pages in 6 days and remembered the plot forever. I guess it's a sign that the book's worth reading!

The first 400 + page-book I've completed reading. It's more than worth it.
