Don't mistake my "whoa" for the good kind of "whoa". You know...the "Holy Squash, that was the best butter-chuckin' book I've ever read" whoa. Because honestly...it was really more of a "What the hell did I just read?" whoa.
To be honest, the writing was good. I had no problem with the author's writing style whatsoever. In fact, I was rather optimistic about it. What really made me set this down (before the second chapter) was the pace of the book.
Like...WTF?
Now don't get me wrong, I've read a lot of novels where the same exact thing happened and I ended up loving up...but that's because I witnessed their chemistry and read and lived it all with them before they did their vows (even if it was only for approx. 5 pages).
In this story, I didn't get that.
Bitch, I would've loved to see how their first couple months of courtship went, what with it being a forbidden romance and shit.
Regardless of that, I feel like I might've enjoyed the rest of the story if I continued reading, but I really just couldn't. It was too fast, and the insta-love was on a whole other level. I respect the fact that the author had a different story-line in thought and that other readers thoroughly enjoyed it, but I did not.
