Trixie Lyal stumbles upon the scoop of a lifetime when her move to a new town takes a detour into the paranormal world of Apple Hollow. She winds up at the local diner where she meets a handsome local by the name of Orion. Cupid stings her heart but not the headlines as strange happenings stir her curiosity.

A quick investigation leads to a long road where she becomes her own headline, and a werewolf. Mob-rule forces her to join the ranks of the town’s residents and her babysitter turns out to be her own handsome Orion. Unfortunately for him, she has plans to escape her scoop and fly the coop. To do that, though, she’ll have to survive the coming wild days of were-people, and her own insatiable lust for a certain devilishly handsome wolf.

Meh. There was nothing particularly offensive about it but the characters lacked depth, motivations and decisions were murky and seemed made to generate particular situations for our heroine rather than from any logical story based reason. It really bugged me how they just held her down and fed her the apple and the whole town including the love interest watched with oh well nothing we can do about it shrug and the heroine doesn’t seem at all annoyed by this. The romance and sex were kind of jarring but the mystery aspect with Trixie & Orion investigating the sickness and the rogue was reasonably entertaining. Also why did the apple turn her into a werewolf and how did Orion know that would happen – just because he was. She could have been anything.

Starting a new life she is sidetracked thanks to the snow to a little village.
In that village she meets Orion. I like the way he is and talks and reacts to her.

But there is more to the village, lots more and she gets in the middle of it.
Together with Orion she tries to find out the truth, which isn't easy.

Funny, sexy read with action in it

Don't miss this hilarious shifter intro! The dialog had me snorting my coffee! Some situational humor, but mostly the interactive verbal kind that turns any day into a really good one. Plot is hinted at in the publisher's blurb, but there is soooo much more; suspense, romance, mischief, and a conspiracy or two.

This little tale had lots of potential, unfortunately, it fell way short of what it could be. When I read a great self published book I'm able to see past the editing issues. With this book, looking past the extremely bad editing was impossible. I don't believe there was any editing, beta reading, or help from a cirque partner done at all.

This book introduced a complex and totally unique world set in Apple Hollow. Trixie has nothing to lose and nobody really waiting for her (other than her mysterious new job) when she is diverted from the snowed out main road and into Apple Hollow. A reporter by profession, this town is just brimming with everything she could want. There's mystery, secrets, and a bit of a whodunit.

Trixie and Orion meet at the super strange diner, seemingly by accident. That's when things get... weird. As if the strangely friendly folks didn't set her reporter radar off enough, there's some very strange animal-esque things about, an apple tree growing (and producing fruit) in a snowy winter, and that's the for starters. When Trixie makes a horrible mistake, it seems like she might not be heading to her new job after all.

All of these characters are definitely begging for additional books, but this one was a good start. There was also a healthy dose of smut thrown in to keep a casual reader entertained. I especially liked the mystery aspect of the story, which is not something I say often.

A freak snowstorm and a closed road is all it takes for Trixie, a recently unemployed reporter, to miss getting safely to her new assignment. She ends up in a hidden little town where everyone seems to know everything before she does. She finds out the town is full of creatures when a truck slams through the front of Mab's diner. There is a were creature behind the wheel. Orion arrives just in time to keep her safe, or so he thinks. Trixie sneaks out the window of her motel room to sneak around the town and she is drawn to an apple tree that is green and full of lush red apples in the middle of winter.
She is captured before she can eat the apple, and the Mayor force feeds her a piece of the apple and it turns her into a werewolf just like Orion. They are mates and her nose for news is stronger than Orion's nose for hunting. She will never be able to leave the town. Will they find out what is causing the sickness running through town, or will it kill them? I can't wait to read the next in the series, typos and all.

I am still on the fence about this one, it had a cute storyline, interesting build up, fun mystery . But it didn't have the wow factor. It barely had a oh factor. I felt as if I was missing something, and was trying to catch up from the beginning. The sex was .....basic. The hero and heroine did have a nice banter between them. I enjoyed the teasing, but mates? No, I just didn't see them as "mates" more like furbuddies! Over all, cute mystery writing, warm romance, funky town. Needs some editing, even a little more depth to it. Would I read they others in the series, yes. But now I know what to expect.

I have to deduce this book down to plain old bad writing. The story itself has so much potential, but didn't link up at times and was very fast paced with details often lacking. And my goodness if one my person in that story pursed their lips I would have thrown my phone. The story was intriguing enough to finish, but I will not carry on with this series. I may check out other reviews to see if the authors writing got better (or a better editor).

Oh and if I wanted to have details about animals having sex, I'd occupy myself with all things Discovery Channel. I was thoroughly grossed out by this. I gagged...literally gagged. *sad face*

Things that go bump in the night

Trixie had no idea that the small town she choose was very different from your typical town. She had heard of shifters but assumed it was just fairytales. Well she becomes one and mates a sexy werewolf and solved the town's infamous case of sickness. In the end she was given a choice to stay or go and she realized that she had something special in this little town.

I did not enjoy this book I thought I would like it because I watch the vampire diaries, the originals , and twilight and I was so excited to read this book but it took to get to the interesting parts. It never really pulled me in right away never got me to ask any questions at all wondering what could happen next in all this book was not for me as I read the summary it sounded interesting but ii lost a lot of interest while reading it.

Absolutely cute

Comedic paranormal romance. Recently unemployed news reporter Trixie Lyal heads toward a new job but must layover in a small town when weird things happen. Her news reporting senses flare as she encounters a mystery of The Sickness that affects the residents of Happy Hallow. Plus meeting good looking Orion doesn't hurt either, especially when he helps her investigate. Cute. Amusing and very entertaining.

A quick, silly little read. With some actual editing, this could be quite good for the little bite of fluff it is. I was feeling generous so I gave it four stars, but it was really more of a three and a half. Again, edit your work people, if you expect us to take you seriously as a writer!

Who knew that a detour could be life changing. Trixie found out when she arrived in Apple Hollow. This is a very good book, well written and held my attention the entire way through. Highly suggest.

Really….

I think this is the worst book I’ve ever read… the story line was one of a 5 year old. I will say some of the jokes were funny but outside of that I kept asking myself why am I reading this mess…..

I cannot think of anything super redeeming about this. The characters are all shallow or the type to take advantage of others. The storyline was rushed and lacking depth, and I found myself wishing to just skip parts that showed the characters in irredeemable ways.

Mystery solved, little mystery, little romance, little humor, and a bit of freak. Always a good combination. Thanks for sharing! Enjoy!

Needs an editor — spelling errors, often homophones. However, the story is nicely quirky and a little different to the usual werewolf tropes.

Very funny read. The Apple tree was a real twist. Good thing this is book one as there are lots more questions than answers.
