Derrick Ward has always wanted a mate. When all of his friends settle down and start a family, he wonders if it will ever happen for him. Brandt, his clan leader, has some females in mind, but Derrick refuses to accept a forced mating. And now the time has come for the shifters to reveal themselves. Derrick fears that once the world knows he’s a grizzly, he’ll never be able to find that right person to fill his den.
Julia Housten has been in love with Derrick for years. Still recovering from the negative reputation her father left behind by his failed challenge for clan leader, she worries that Derrick will never accept her as a potential mate. So when she has an opportunity to do something good for the clan, she can hardly contain herself when she learns she’ll be working with Derrick.
The International Shifter Coalition is moving forward with the big reveal while Julia and Derrick discover just how perfect they are together. But with the reveal comes a danger they hadn’t expected. A new threat that could tear them apart looms nearby, and it will take the whole clan to protect everything, and everyone, they love.
This story contains strong sexual themes, sensual shifters, and delicious romance for insatiable appetites. It is intended for a mature audience. This is a stand-alone novella with no cliff-hanger.
Ashlee Sinn fancies all creatures of the paranormal persuasion, especially those who like to bite. Her steamy romances tend to feature swoon-worthy heroes and kick-ass heroines. Whether it's vampires, shifters, or demons, the women who keep them in line have a special place in her heart. And in her chaotic head.

This is the first book I've ready by Ashlee Sinn and I really enjoyed it. While it was fast paced there was still enough character development to connect with and enjoy Derrick and Julia's relationship.
Lured by the Bear by Ashlee Sinn is a very quick read, perfect for the paranormal lover with limited time for reading. I didn't notice until after I read the book and looked at the cover to see if the series name was there that Alaska is spelled wrong. No worries though, it's spelled right inside the book, where it counts. This short book is actually well written and is a smooth read. Ms Sinn's characters are lovable and fun. There's plenty of drama and some sexy bits, but the sexy bits are more spark than roaring flames, so it's acceptable for a wider age range of readers. I enjoyed Lured by the Bear and would read more from Ashlee Sinn in the future. Lured by the Bear is book 1 of the Alaska Shifters Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
It is difficult even being human can you imagine being a shifter. In this delightful story set in Homer, Alaska shifters exist. A variety of shifters make up the population. Wolves, bear, and even tigers. They live and work among humans everyday and us none the wiser. So when they decided to let those around them in on the secret, there are several reactions. Come read about Derrick and the young lady that has loved him as long as she can remember. Recommend!
Things are really starting to heat up in Alaska with some of the shifters coming out to the public (which I wished they wouldn't have done.) I think they should have remained secret. I am glad that Derek has finally stopped fighting what his bear already knew and gave in to him. I am still loving this series and it is getting hotter and hotter. Cant wait to read the next book.
This is the first time I've read a romance novel where both main characters were shifters!! Derrick and Julia's relationship transformed just as their bears did. Awesome story!!
It’s a good follow up to the Callaghan series. I was wondering what happened with Derrick when the other series ended. Thanks for not leaving me hanging.
very cute book one in an omnibus I found on FreeBooksy, nice, light read, with a cute HEA - I'm taking my time getting to the rest of the stories, if I read them apart I'll enjoy them more.. ;-)
More of the Callaghan Clan, what could be better? I have family in Alaska but to the best of my knowledge if there are actually shifters there they're still hidden. Can't wait to read more about the Alaskan shifters.
While Lured By The Bear is the first story in The Alaskan Shifters series, it helps your understanding of the back story if you’ve read the three book series that precedes it, The Callaghan Clan, as there are many characters from that series that do make appearances and take part in small ways in this new series. The Callaghan Clan series is co-authored by Ashlee Sinn & Meredith Clarke.
Shifters have lived, worked, and loved along side of humans for generations with the humans, for the most part, none the wiser. It’s natural to assume that many humans will embrace them as the unique individuals that they truly are. It’s also, unfortunately, easy to see how the fanatics, the separatists the simply afraid will not tolerate the differences between us and bring harm.
This is the atmosphere that our friends, family and future mates face. Derrick has been friends with the Callaghan brothers for years, he’s part of their clan and he’s glad that they’ve found their mates, really he is. He’s just wishing he’d find his as well. As the ISC works with local shifters to set up the big reveal, Derrick and young Julia are slated to work on the website together. What Derrick hasn’t yet realized yet is that Julia is all grown up, she’s turned into a stunning young woman with talents that will come in handy during this time. She’s also been in love with him for a very long time, and now she’s just about tired of waiting for him to notice her. It’s time that Derrick got acquainted with his mate.
Lured By The Bear is an excellent start to the series. For some of us it will be like reuniting with old friends, for others a brand new adventure. Derrick is convinced that the age gap makes a difference between he and Julia, and that’s just an excuse. He wants a mate, he wants it to be Julia, but he simply is kinda shell shocked at the discovery and doesn’t handle it well… at all. Add our couple’s romantic tangles to an already explosive reveal about the existence of Shifters and you have quite a powerful punch of a story line. Action packed, definitely sexy steamy moments, this title will draw you into a world that is filling with chaos and hatred over the unknown. And there will be danger, unexpected twists and turns, and in the end the enduring love of two people.
I would recommend this story and this series to any Paranormal Romance or Shifter Romance reader who loves a good story, a woven thread throughout a series, interesting characters and a couple worth rooting for. I’m heading over to pick up the next story, can’t wait to get started on Major’s story.
I read this story through my Kindle Unlimited Subscription.
I was given this book for an honest review. Loved Derrick and Julia's story. Even though they had known each other for awhile, it took them working on the ISC website to figure out they were mates. After the big reveal of shifters 2 fanatics took things too far and their love was tested. A great HEA!!! I highly recommend this story.
I have some parts of the book that left me wanting more is the only reason for 3 1/2 instead of 4. It is shifter romance but felt it was not as much romance as establishing the series. Yes there was a romantic relationship that developed but I felt the big reveal was informing the reader how it all began. Will read more in the series.
My Thoughts - 4 out of 5 Unicorns - I really liked it!!! ***I choose what I read and review based on what intrigues me!!
The cover is pretty awesome, but I do love having both beasts on the cover!
This is the first book in the series, but it seems this is a spin-off series from the Callaghan Clan. It is of course for adults only due to the steamy content.
I stumbled onto book 2 when I was looking around for something new, and I was intrigued and the sale helped. I picked them all up, but I wish I would have known to read the other series first because I bet it would have made things click more. I will definitely be reading those.
I really liked Derrick and Julia, but I felt like I was missing pieces to the back story. I think I would have loved this if I read the other series first. I don’t like feeling like I’m missing things when references are made.
I recommend this book to bear lovers, but if you are like me, you might want to read the other series first.
This book was built on an unbelievable premise that shifters suddenly decide to hold a press conference at which they reveal themselves to a world wide audience. No explanation for this sudden decision to reveal their existence and no thought given to the consequences. The people who are so vehemently against them even sound like one dimensional devices to further the story but they fail. This feels like a first story written by a high schooler hoping to jot down their fantasy.
I really enjoyed this one.. I e enjoyed the entire series so far and have come to really love the characters. the big reveal was the highlight in this one and it was action packed and thrilling... I'm really glad Derrick and Julia were the couple in this one.. they were super cute together even if they had some awkward moments.
This might be a standalone but I would strongly suggest reading the Callaghan brothers stories in order first before reading this one. This will have Bo and McKenzie wedding. Julia is the daughter of man that went head to head with Bryant in his story when they were at the werewolf pack territory. The shifters are about to be reveling their secret soon.
I usually don't care for paranormal romances but figured why not. I was not surprised by the love and mates but enjoyed the storyline. Shifters coming out to the real world was a blast...
Shifters, publicity, love what more do you need. I enjoyed this short story that has shifters, love and some drama. The characters draw you in and you can't wait to see where the plot goes.
It wasn't bad but it wasn't that great and didn't really stand out to me. The characters did have some development to them but it was still pretty plain and not that captivating.
