Kel was a elite solider home earlier from duty surprising his Sonia of his arrival. Kel was going to propose to Sonia and had the ring already bought. Kel was notified that they wanted him in the government program that General Powell ran and that is why he was home early. Once home he learns that Sonia nightmares had stopped. After joining General Powell super solider program Kel didn't want to put Sonia through a life with a Super Solider/Alien so he fake his death. Years later he learned that Sonia was now on Adam Rain radar that she called police about missing girls disappearing all over Vegas area that Adam was abducting trying to lift bound them to his solider because of the vision/nightmares she started back to having after Kel's death.

So now Kel has to save Sonia from the evil Adam Rain even though she believes that Kel is dead

Ok....

I keep reading the series because the stories are great, but I don’t like how they are ending. It seems as tho I’m not getting any closure on the relationships. It doesn’t have to be complete closure but it seems as tho something is missing to make me say that I’m satisfied with this stand alone.

This story was stort but strong. Kal and his true bond reunite when he discovers her powers are endangering her. Lisa Renee Jones characters are full of passion and love. Summer Morton's narrative is very well done.

okay read

Paranormal short story about a couple with history. Good storyline and back history is given and it’s a short story that you wish had more to it, an okay read but not a keeper.

It was okay.

Since it's novella, I can't complain about the length. I will say that I wish there was more to the story. I couldn't get enough.

RENEGADE PASSION (Zodius Series 2.5) by Lisa Renee Jones

RENEGADE PASSION is a short story (May 2012 e-novella) in Lisa Renee Jones Zodius Series. GTECHS are a group of scientifically manipulated super soldiers fighting a war between themselves. Similar to Christine Feehan's Ghostwalker series, there are two factions both hoping to find the one woman made especially for each other. Each woman is naturally gifted with some psychic ability and the DNA manipulation has further enhanced each of the special-ops soldiers who were used in an experiment without their permission. Trying to prevent the kidnapping and DNA manipulation are the Renegades. A group of super soldiers whose abilities include memory erasing, wind walking and control, and memory retrieval. The Zodius are the rival faction, kidnapping all of the potential women capable of mate-bonding with the soldiers and holding them imprisoned. The life of a potential mate-bond female is risked when she is abused by the Zodius team hoping to find their match.

Kel is a super soldier. Changed without permission, Kel regrets having to fake his own death to ensure that the woman he loves will not be pulled into war between the Renegades and the Zodius warriors. But finding Sonia on a video making a call to the police, warning of a potential kidnapping, will bring Kel full circle and the only woman he has ever loved back into his life-if only for a short time.

Sonia has always suffered unbearable dreams. Her nightmares are so realistic that since the death three years earlier of her fiance Kel, she has come to realize that they are premonitions-she is able to see into the future. And when her fellow employee Carrie is targeted as the next victim, Sonia knows that she must place a call and possibly expose herself as crazy to the police. But finding herself awakening from a drug induced sleep with Kel at her side, she knows that she must still be dreaming.

Kel knows that he will always love Sonia, but keeping her protected feels like imprisoning her against her will. His only solution will be to tell her the truth, about the GTECH super soldier project and the enemy Zodius team willing to risk everything including the lives of the women who could be mate-bonded through DNA. But having to explain why he faked his death will probably be the most difficult assignment-knowing he could lose her again-because of his lies. And to complicate matters, she may not be his mate-bond. But for Kel, there is only one sure way to find out, and if in the end the mate-bond mark does not appear, he knows that he will lose Sonia forever.

RENEGADE PASSION is a short story (book 2.5) in the Zodius series. Lisa includes much of the background information from the previous storylines which allows for the reader to be aware of the premise at all times. I admire those authors that recount the details of the series premise with each storyline, allowing for new readers to keep up to date and not lose themselves with missing information. The premise is familiar to the fans of CF but different in that the death of a mate means death to the other, when the blood bond has been exchanged.

This is a quick read, yet Lisa does a wonderful job of giving just enough details of the characters that it doesn't feel the story is in fact short.

Sonia always has dreams. Her dreams are more like visions of events about to occur. She thinks there is something wrong with her, and for a while she sees a therapist who puts her on some meds. Her dreams only get worst when she thinks her love of her life is dead. A couple of years go by, she stays on meds for a while but finally gives up. She admits to herself there is nothing wrong with her, so she goes about her life, until the women in her visions start to disappear. Then, she starts to befriend the women in an effort to save them from whatever bad thing is about to happen to them.

Kel still loves Sonia. If it hadn't been because of the darn experiment he'd be with her now, but instead he faked his own death to save her life. The last thing he expects is to see her again, but she's in trouble and he now needs to save her life for the second time. Explaining how is it that he's not dead is not an easy task, but asking her to forgive him for such a lie proves even harder.

Oh goodness! This is a short read, and it really is a prelude to the series. I loved all of the characters in this short installment. My complaint is, why is this so darn short???!!! I wanted more... hey, I guess I will have to get all the books in these series because if they're anything like this short read, then they'll be awesome.

Blurb:

Sonia' a gifted physic who finds herself seeing visions of the many women who have started disappearing around Vegas. Visions that have now put her on the radar of Adam Rain, a soldier who was part of an experiment that made him a super solider, powerful and dangerous. Adam wants to control the city. He wants to control her.

Kel is also one of those super soldiers, a part of the unit called the Renegades who fight to protect humanity. A soldier who once planned to call Sonia his wife, until an Area 51 experiment changed his life, his future, Sonia's future. But now she is in danger, and nothing, and no one, is going to hurt her. She is his passion, his desire, his heart.

I have a love/hate relationship with novellas. On the love side, they are quick bites from an interesting course at a literary buffet. On the hate side, quick bites are just that - quick. One bite and they're done. Usually leaving me wanting more. Such is the case with Renegade Passion by Lisa Renee Jones. It's a quick look into the world of the Zodius that left me wanting more!

I always wonder why authors choose certain characters to star in novellas as opposed to full length novels because I usually end up wishing that the story was more fleshed out, longer. Once I enter the lives of characters I like, I want to spend a lot of time with them. Such is the case with Kel and Sonia. They are wonderful characters who could easily carry a longer story and I would have loved to learn more about them. Kel is one of those amazing super hunk heroes that you secretly (or maybe not so secretly) wish would come rescue you in your time of need - and stay for a little something special afterwards. He is strong, loyal, and vulnerable where his heart is concerned - what more could you want in a hero? And Sonia is the perfect foil for him. Loyal, supportive and forgiving. Together, they make an amazing couple and I really would have liked to spend a lot more time with them and read more about their story.

If I had one complaint about this book, it would be its brevity. Although I gobbled it up in one bite, I was left wishing there were more to it. I would have liked to get more into the action, back story and love affair between the characters, although I understand that is not the purpose of novellas (which is why I prefer novels). Despite that one minor flaw, I really did enjoy Renegade Passion and meeting all of the characters from previous books in the series. I just might have to check them out. And if the author ever decides to delve more into the story of Kel and Sonia, I'm there, too. All in all, an enjoyable read!

Review originally posted at Ramblings From This Chick

I thought this was a great quick read by Lisa Renee Jones. I haven't read any of the previous books in this series and I didn't find myself lost or overwhelmed at all. I was able to jump in and get a good feel for the characters and the world that the author has created. In fact I enjoyed this novella so much, I'm definitely going to go out and pick up the other books because I'm really intrigued with everything that is going on and I am loving the world the GTECH soldiers. I just want to know so much for about them.

I really liked Kel. No scratch that. I really loved Kel. Oh my goodness but that man is sexy! I especially love that he wears his heart on his sleeve when it comes to Sonia. He loves her and even though it broke his heart to leave her all those years ago he never stopped thinking about her and wanting to be with her. He did it to keep her safe and I can't fault him for that. He's sweet and caring and definitely isn't ashamed of his feelings but despite all of that, he's still a kickass soldier that will do anything to keep the ones he loves safe. Seriously, LOVED him.

As for Sonia, I really don't know how I feel about her. We really don't see much from her point of view and the bits we did see she came off a bit whiny to me. She just seemed to jump to conclusion much to easily and I found that quite annoying. I admit, I think I would have warmed up to her more if we saw more from her point of view.

All in all this was a great story. The author was able to combine just enough of the past along with the present to keep me engaged and informed. I got a great feel for everything and never felt lost or overwhelmed. I look forward to reading more from this author in the future.

This book is a bonus novella to the Zodius series. The action takes place between Sterling and Damion's stories (books 2 and 3), but it isn't necessary that you read any of them prior to this one.

Kel is a GTECH "super soldier" - one of many military men experimentally injected with alien DNA to gain superhuman strength and other powers. He gives up the love of his life, Sonia, in an effort to protect her from the dangers of this new association. When her own gift puts her on the radar of some dangerous people, he comes back into her life to protect her.

Protecting seems to be what the Renegade men do best. But that and their superpowers are not all they seem to have in common - they are all super hot too (and why wouldn't they be!). The pages practically sizzle whenever one of them walks into a room! The love and passion Kel and Sonia felt for each other never went away and their chemistry is re-ignited immediately. The heartache they both felt previously is tangible and I found myself rooting for them both right from the beginning.

I haven't read book 1 or 2 in this series yet, but there is enough background information given that I never felt lost. If anything, I felt like the background almost took up too much of this short book, but the story of GTECH is so unique, you can see how that would be necessary. Based on the little bit I've seen of the other renegade men (and their women - who are all heroes in their own right too), I can't wait to read their own stories!

This novella is a super quick read, but it still packs in all the love, passion, action, and excitement you'd find in a longer novel. A must read for any fan of the other books in this Zodius series or any other romantic suspense!

If you don't know by now I do occasionally jump out of my comfort zone in reading you should. Yes, I know I mainly read Regency or Victorian romance novels. However, not this time. I got a chance to take a look at Renegade Passion. I don't know how to really describe where it would fit into the world of romance, because it can fit into a couple of the sub-categories.

You have Kelvin Smith (Kel for short) who just got back from an assignment and is about to start a new assignment, which is a special unit at Area 51. Little does he know what it all entails. However, we jump ahead three years later to find out the girl he left behind is in trouble. Sonia Carmichael is a girl with a special gift, whose life is in jeopardy cause of it. Kel is a GTECH which are super soldiers that have had there DNA alter and they are trying to put a stop to this happen to other people.

Honestly, I really like this novella. Novella's are great if you are unsure if you want to get into the series, particularly something like this. After reading Kel's and Sonia's story I really want to go back and read the others story. I mean who doesn't like a super soldier who is trying to save a world from a crazy mad man. I do plan to read the other books. It doesn't hurt to give this try since it's a quick short read that you might actually like.

4 Star Read:
Among some of my favorites. Outstanding literary work. The characters are well developed, interesting. The liked characters are likable and the hated are unlikable. The writing is captivating enough to keep you interested until the end and leave you wanting more. It has a fairly original or uniquely well-developed plot. The pretense and romance were well balanced and done with properly distributed amounts of hints, behaviors, and chemistry. Not so much predictable if at all. Overall, loved it, I recommend reading!!

Kel is a GTECH, a unique soldier with special powers. As a result of Kel being converted to a GTECH he gives up the only woman he loves. He knows she is the only woman for him but can he ask her to share a life that is full of danger?
Sonia feels that her heart is broken when she receives word that Kel, the love of her life is dead. She knows no one will ever find a place in her heart that was broken with Kel's death. In the aftermath, Sonia continues to have haunting dreams of women that are abducted. She knows she can help these women.
When Sonia goes to a nightclub to protect a woman in danger, she comes face to face with Kel. Sonia is shocked. He's not dead. Kel realizes he cannot give Sonia up again. He knows she is his lifebond, but can he put her in danger by locking her to his life forever? Can Sonia trust Kel not to hurt her again?
Renegade Passion is a wonderful bonus to the Zodius series. And it definitely leaves you with wanting to read more about these men and the unique women that are bonded to them for life and all eternity. I definitely recommend you pick up this book for a quick, satisfying read.

I absolutely devoured this novella! It is my first Renegade story, but you can be sure that I will be reading Michael and Sterling's as soon as I can, I never felt like I didn't know what was going on though, and each story can stand on its own.

In this novella we meet Kel and Sonia, a very loving and passionate couple. Kel is a military man and he is about to start a new assignment and here is where the story takes a twist, he is injected with experimental DNA which leave him with superhuman strength and powers. To protect Sonia he gives her up, but their love will not die and they are reconnected albeit a number of years later. You can practically feel the chemistry when they see each other again.

I highly recommend this romantic paranormal novella if you want to get to know one of the super soldiers, if they are all like Kel, they will be hot and sexy and you will definitely want to read each one of them.

It is a good thing this one is only 8 chapters. This read leaves you wanting.. ALOT. It's cheesy, unsexy, campy, lacking the erotic punch it's marketed to have. And the "Renegades" are not interesting at all to me. I do not believe that I would consider reading any of the other books based on this Novella.

I do realize that this Novella is based on one of the characters in this series. But my main reason for not wanting to pursue this series further would be because how the GTECHS are made and why, their whole plight is just uninteresting to me.

But if you are one who has been following this series then you may enjoy this read.

This book was just too short to get a higher score and for me to believe how forgiving our heroine was.

I wish they would have picked these stories up with previous characters who we became involved with. Also, I would have like to touch on loose ends and characters from book one still and I haven't even seen them again. They have Michaels Mother now, who was estranged (how did that go) and a genius weapons maker. What, she couldn't have come up with something while both the bad guys have?!?

These alien altered guys have only been around a short time - 3 years- how do they already know that they have stop aging??

This is the first book in Lisa Renee Jones' Zodius series I've read. Prior to reading this story I was a little hesitant about the alien dna back ground and wasn't sure it was going to be my kind of paranormal romance. I just have to say I loved this story and have downloaded Michael, Sterling and Damion's books. There was a lot of action and suspense that kept my interest throughout. I also found the emotional connection and bond between the GTECHS and their lifebonds very interesting. This is one series I will definitely be following.

This was a very good novella to tied us over until we get Ms. Jones next Zodius series. I love those GTECHS. This is Kel and Sonia's brief but good lifebonding story. Sonia thinks Kel is dead but when her dreams turn out to be realities she makes a phone call to the authorities and that call puts her life in danger. Kel and the GTECHS intercept the call and now Kel must go and get Sonia to protect her from Adam Rain and his breeding program. I wanted to read more. It really was a very good sweet sexy story.

Read this out of order, this is book 2.5. Fast read drops you in the middle of Kel's story and what he had to give up three years ago. Sonia was psychic and in love with Kel but after he is genetically changed he fakes his own death to protect her. Now three years later she is thrown into his life again and he must protect her. Their chemistry hasn't weakened and they immediately know there is no one else for them. Lot of ground covered in this short story pulls you in and hooks you into reading more.

Renegade Passion my be a novella in the Zodius series. But it packs quite an emotional punch. This is a short story of love lost and found. And the sacrifices you will make for love, whether they are right or wrong.

I truly loved Kel & Sonia's story. I hope that Lisa will give us a book about these two. I think that they both have so much to offer the Renegade's.

Thank you Lisa for letting me read and review this story for you.

It took me a while to think about what I wanted to say.

I love this series and I did enjoy this little short. I believe this novella would be perfect for those who are thinking about trying this series, it contains all the information you need to understand what is going on in the world while incorporating a taste of the action, emotion and steamy sex scenes that I have came to expect from Lisa.

I really enjoyed every minute of this book! This was my first Zodius series book and even though it was short it was great! It gave you just enough of the back info on the GTECHs so that you know what you are reading, but the story wasn't taken over by it. It has just the right amount of action, heat and romance! It was a really great love story! I recommend this book and can't wait to read the rest!

OMG, Lisa Renee Jones has done it again. I really can not get enough of her books. From the moment that I started reading this book, I was glued to the pages and could not put it down. The story will grab you and you will not be able to escape until the book is finished and even then you will be wanting more. You will fall in love with these characters and want to see them overcome everything that may get in their way. No doubt about it, this is a must read.

This is the story of Kel a G-Tech soldier and Sonia Carmichael. Sonia has premonitions in her dreams. She has to watch her friend Carrie who she had a dream about, and what she finds out while trying to help her. I like reading about the G-Tech soldiers and the war they have to fight to save women from harm. I just wanted the story to be longer and not end.
