Leonard Bertram Naman Schapiro was a British academic and scholar of Russian politics. He taught for many years at the London School of Economics, where he was Professor of Political Science with Special Reference to Russian Studies.
Leonard Schapiro was my tutor at LSE. in 1972. He was in his 70's and very imposing. For him the Russian revolution was just yesterday. I wonder if he lived to see the fall of communism. One some other scholar's name, he would rub his eyes, grumble and say, "Bit of a light weight, don't yo think?"
It's interesting... But only if you already enjoy and have a basic knowledge about the topic. If you are looking for an introduction to the history of Communism in Russia go read a Lenin or Stalin biography.
