Theo feels he doesn't belong. He is a white squirrel, but all of his friends are gray. So when his older brother comes up with a daring plan to pilfer some gourmet nuts, Theo jumps at the chance to be the hero. Things don’t go as planned, however, and Theo finds himself trapped in a van, miles away from his family. How will he ever get home? Robert Fuller, author of SOMEBODIES AND NOBODIES, has written this funny and insightful story of friendship, loyalty, recovering from failure, and discovering that it’s okay to be just who you are. It’s a charming tale that will appeal to all ages.
He earned his Ph.D. in physics at Princeton University and taught at Columbia, where he co-authored Mathematics of Classical and Quantum Physics. He then served as president of Oberlin College.
On a trip to India, where he was a consultant to Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, Fuller witnessed firsthand the horrors of genocidal famine. Subsequently, he met with President Carter to propose the creation of the Presidential Commission on World Hunger.
During the 1980s, Fuller traveled frequently to the USSR, working to improve the Cold War relationship with the U.S. For many years, he served as chairman of the global nonprofit Internews, which promotes democracy via free and independent media.
Fuller is now an international authority on dignity and rankism (abusive, discriminatory, or exploitative behavior towards those of lower rank). In 2011, he was the keynote speaker at "The National Conference on Dignity for All" hosted by the president of Bangladesh. Fuller has also served as visiting professor at the Indian Institute of Science and the National Institute of Advanced Studies in Bangalore. His work has been featured in scores of books and publications including the New York Times, O Magazine, and The Contemporary Goffman.
In his books, Fuller makes the case that rankism is a major obstacle to organizational effectiveness and develops a “politics of dignity” that addresses issues of social justice.
Theo the white squirrel is the perfect story for children about differences in places and animals. The story is about a squirrel that is different from the others and shows how he felt about it. With his adventure in trying to find a different food, he found himself in a very difficult situation. There were cute turns in this book and lovely illustrations. A very colorful tale. I loved it.
A white unique squirrel named Theo and his to other siblings were tired of acorns. One day Tom's grandma made nut gifts for the family. So Theo's brother came up with a plan for Theo to get some new types of nuts. When Theo gets into the van suddenly the door closes and Tom drives off. Soon on his journey he meets another squirrel that is brown. Somehow they make a plan to get home will they? Please read to see and make another comment for the next person.
I chose this rating because because it is a very great book for all ages. I like this book because it shows young readers that it doesn't matter how you look everyone is the same and you have to outsmart your fears. I would recommend this book to read to everyone because no matter how old you are you can still relate to this book. 😂😐😄😆😊😀😁😃🐀🐁🐈🐈
This is a free book I got from instafreebie. I read this book to my 7 yr.old grandchildren and they loved it ! It's a story told by one of the squirrels about his little brother, a white squirrel. This story talks about color differences and how each color is important. It's a well written book, great to read to kids but a little too old for really young readers.
I received this book for a voluntary, completely honest and non incentivized review. Though this is a children's book I know quite a few adults who should read this book and heed the lessons within. In this world of diversity, Theo overcomes his difference and lives his life as positively as he can. A wonderful lesson.
A beautiful story for children where they can learn that it doesn’t matter the difference in colour, places and customs. A squirrel is always a squirrel. The book has beautiful illustrations that help to follow the story along with the imagination. A perfect story for bedtime that can be read in several days as it is too long for just one night.
This is a cute story about a squirrel that is a different color than the rest of his family. He ends up in an unexpected venture when his color puts him in a perfect position to obtain some nuts for the family. The story is a lesson on inclusion and friendship.
I was randomly chosen to receive this book. I was under no obligation to write a review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
Color artwork and text. A children's book well written enough to be of some interest to adults. A white squirrel has a nutty adventure and meets a new friend.
Kindle Unlimited but got it from one of my free places. Cute, without being 'cutesy' {major problem to me}. Nicely illustrated, well told, childlike without being childish.
This was a cute story but not an exceptional one. The biggest redeeming quality is the main character, Theo. The point of view actually stayed with Theo through almost half of the book but at times it bounced around among several characters without warning. The illustrations were also cute and added greatly to flavor of the story.
