Bubba gets high-tech and high-tone in this parody blend of Pokemon Go, A Midsummer Night's Dream, and monster hunting!
There's a new cell phone game that has teenagers wandering through cities on a mad hunt for digital fairies, but the game has a dark side. A teenage girl is missing in Nashville, and Bubba has to find her.
While hunting for the missing teen, Bubba finds himself sucked into a world beyond his understanding, and the only way he can get home is - he's gotta catch 'em all!
Not really. But he does have to shoot a lot of 'em!
Cellphone apps, Shakespeare, and large-caliber bullets all jumble together in this latest adventure from everybody's favorite monster-hunting redneck!

Now, I'm not overly familiar with the Bubba The Monster Hunter series, but that didn't stop me from getting into this book.
Bubba is off on a missing person's case, a teenaged girl who was out playing a phone game that strongly rang of Pokemon Go. His hunt drags him into an alternate world of fairies, and he must now rescue his subject from the Summer Queen.
The description of his many battles with not a little humor thrown in was quite fun to read and kept me smiling. He holds his own against fairy magic and opponents with no sense of humor at all. The only reason I did not give this book five stars was that there were a few punctuation and grammar errors, but not enough to really ruin the story, and only a nitpick like me would notice them.
A very enjoyable novella. I've always have enjoyed books dealing with the Fae, Midsummer has an unique plot and characters. Plot moves quickly as the suspense builds and as usual with the Fae you're not quite sure who is who. Perhaps I am a bit warped but I really enjoyed it and its sense of humour. John G. Hartness is becoming one of my favourite authors.
Bubba's in fairyland, what could go wrong! Looking for lost girls, Bubba is transported to fairyland and sets off to rescue said girls from the fairy Queen. Good story, strange ending, but bubba does what he does best, in his own way!
Bubba in fairyland. Oh course, our favorite redneck monster hunter immediately teams up with a beer merchant. He is off to rescue a kid from a castle. In the process, he kills the Summer Queen's cousin, gets thrown in a dungeon, and fights a pink alligator. The story has a strong Amy presence at the start, but I miss Skeeter being a bug in Bubba's ear – can you imagine Skeeter getting to provide a running commentary of Fairy-land? Fun and funny, but not as fun and funny as most Bubba stories.
Kindle Unlimited Going through the entire Bubba the Monster Hunter collections and not sure if the boy is on drugs or should be...but he makes real interesting reading...and a little wonder if his mama dropped him on his head, hard, repeatedly, on purpose, bless his heart. But John G be sure to tell Bubba if he's ever back down this way to holler;I bet that boy is more fun than wrasslin' a pig...a supernatural no bitey one of course. P.S. Come on down, and we'll shoot or set something on fire, darlin'. **all books listed this way are part of either Season 1, Season 2, or Season 3

In Midsummer, Bubba is in Nashville, looking into the disappearance of a teenage girl. The police think they have a kidnapping on their hands, but then, they don't know Bubba. It turns out that the girl disappeared while playing a game a bit like Pokemon Go, but with fairies. While trying to trace the missing girl's steps, Bubba finds out what happened to her, by having the same thing happen to him! Now Bubba is in fairyland and has to get the girl out. This being a Bubba story from John Hartness, hi jinks ensue!
This is a short work - a novella, so I can't say much more about poor Bubba's adventures. Let me just say that this is a delightful story. Our hero gets into tons of trouble, but his heart is, as always, in the right place, and he carries a BIG gun.
Truthfully when I started reading this series I thought I would hate it. I mean "Bubba" conjures up a certain image that is not flattering. Of course the author was counting on people thinking the same thing. Bubba however uses people's preconceived notions of a hillbilly redneck to his advantage. Add in Skeeter as his best friend and it just works. It gets corny and crass, but totally owns up to knowing they are skirting the line.
If you need a book to kick back with while you forget your troubles, pick up Midsummer, a Bubba the monster hunter fairy tale. You will have enough dirty jokes to keep you laughing, plus you can pretend you are being scholarly because Shakespeare's favorite Midsummer Night's Dream characters are featured.
