Some Spoilers

His to Seduce the 4th book in the Fireside series was an okay read for me, but I just couldn't connect with it like I did all the others. I never got invested in the love story and I found myself skipping through the book because I was starting to get a little bored. I don't know what it was for sure that caused such a disconnect with me and this book as I loved the other books in this series but something was just not working for me. Not that I hated this book or anything. I didn't hate it. I actually really liked David and getting to catch up with the whole gang at Fireside. The only thing I can pin point that I didn't like was Camden. She just rubbed me wrong. I didn't feel like I got to really know her. She only really showed her closed off side which made her seem bitchy and cold. Because of her past I could understand some of her actions but I think she was just too closed off and didn't open up soon enough. David was a nice balance to her. He was sweet, fun, and very understanding. I did really think the ending was very cute. Overall this read was okay but my least favorite of the series.

His to Seduce is the fourth book in Stacey Lynn's Fireside series and follows bartender David, and overachiever Camden. The two have been circling around each other for months, yet Camden will not allow herself to fall for David. But David doesn't give up easily, especially not when he wants something as much as he wants Camden.

Honestly I don't have much to say about this book. I really enjoyed the story and the characters. David was sexy, and I liked that he didn't give up on Camden when things got tough. Camden was an okay character, I didn't hate her but I never felt a connection to her so I also didn't love her.

Their story is endearing and I liked them as a couple. I think I just couldn't stop comparing this book to the previous ones in the series which is why it ended with me only liking it. Overall I would still definitely recommend this book, though I would also recommend reading the previous books first.

A S.T.E.A.M.I.N.G. HOT READ!!

Already a fan of this series, I was so anxious for David and Camden's story. Right off the bat, their chemistry snapped, crackled and popped, and I was loving every minute of their steamy affair. They were having the best times of their lives while spending the weekend together in Jamaica attending a mutual friend's wedding.

But, about half way through the storyline, Camden really started to annoy me by throwing what I would call hissy fits, which annoyed me. Luckily her attitude didn't last too long, and I was able to enjoy the rest of the story.

Here is a backdrop .......

Camden is in Jamaica for a wedding, and is feeling a bit left out as three of her best friends have found their HEA's. She is happy for them, but wondering when or if it will ever happen for her. Always the bridesmaid, never the bride. The next thing she knows, during the reception of her best friend's wedding, she is offered a night of bliss by a model gorgeous, blue-eyed, sexy male she has been extremely attracted to ever since she met him back home in Michigan five months ago. Tired of being lonely and tired of fighting the absolute pull he has over her, she accepts his offer, but only promises the one night and that's it, end of story! She cannot afford to ever become vulnerable again. Problem is, he wants more, a whole lot more.

David has been on a quest to date Camden since the first time they met. Months ago, he left Chicago and came to town to lend support to his best friend who just lost his young son in a skateboarding accident, and he takes a job working as a bartender at the local Fireside Grill. The night of their hookup in Jamica, David tells Camden she can fight him all she wants, but their relationship is just beginning.

"I want you," I said bluntly. "I've wanted you for months. This weekend, our friends are all paired off and I plan on spending most of it with you, convincing you why we'd be good together. That's what I'm doing, Camden. What do you want?"

'She wanted me. She just didn't know what the hell to do about it.'

Camden fascinates David to complete distraction, but she is also a mystery to be solved. Besides their combustible chemistry, he is convinced they have something else in common ...... secrets. He hopes she will soon learn to trust him with whatever she is hiding. He wants her to be a permanent part of his life, but so far she is rejecting his overt affections. During their weekend in Jamaica, David sets the wheels in motion to show Camden just how serious he is about her.

"Stop thinking so hard, Camden. Spend the weekend with me. We'll have fun, we'll be friends. And then we'll just see what happens when we get back to Latham Hills, okay?"

This is the fourth book in the "Fireside" series, but is a stand alone. Ms. Lynn is one heck of a storyteller to get the old juices flowing! If you enjoy provocative sex scenes, starring one h.o.t. male, I would certainly give this one a try.

3.5 Oh, The Secrets We Keep Stars
* * * 1/2 Spoiler Free It's Live!!!!
This is the last entry to the Fireside series by Lynn. She has been consistent throughout and this was no different. We have two damaged people who have been harboring pain; each with their own way of coping.

Camden Reed's issue happened when she was a preteen and it formed her idea of protection... She would make lists and organize so she would always be in control... nothing would ever surprise her... everything planned and checked off...She worked hard to rise up from poverty and vowed to make sure she remained secure financially in all things...No dead beat boyfriends...

David McGregor saw his father die from a heart attack...and from that moment he dedicated himself to making sure no other kid would have to experience what he did. He became the ER doc and was strong and excellent in his field....But life happened and he had a family case he couldn't save...causing him to flee the situation...not being able to save his patients like he wanted was too much.

Throughout the series these two have crossed paths and in this book, they finally have a very hot fling during a wedding of their mutual friends. Things are going well and then David's past skills are needed, revealing he may not be what he represented himself to be...Camden takes this as lying and betrayal...However... has she been as truthful with David....

These two have to come together and learn to trust each other in order to go forward.
It was well done.

Once again, Stacey Lynn delivers a romance with the right amount of push and pull between the main characters and whilst both are running from their pasts, holding back events that have changed their lives and led them to the point they're at in life now, it wasn't a heavy story. Far from it, and David and Camden are passionate from the word go.

"Tonight would be hours of slowness, hours of me taking my time...bringing her over the edge over and over again."

David may have his secrets but he wears his heart on his sleeve and has the most perfect bedside manner. I love a man who makes his intentions clear yet is patient at the same time, and he is irresistible.

description

What I have to applaud Stacey Lynn for though is how likeable she made Camden: in the previous book I wasn't taken with her, but this was turned on it's head. Yes she's particularly frustrating at times, yet her reasoning, despite the double standards that come into play, were relatable and understandable bringing an emotional angle.

"Thank you for being you."

I have to say though, as lovely as the ending to His to Seduce was, it still felt unfinished for me and I would've liked to have seen how things played out further down the line for other characters with being the end of the Fireside series. But I guess that comes down to personal preference; overall it was a great read and as I still have the first two books in the Fireside series to read, I'm glad my time with these characters isn't over just yet.

His to Seduce by Stacey Lynn was an enjoyable read and a good addition to the Fireside series.
I enjoyed watching David and Camden's relationship develop. Camden was a little frustrating at times but I did feel for her after hearing what she'd been through in the past.
For me David made this story, I loved how caring, loving and honest he was with Camden, he truly loved her and knew she was his forever.

I've really enjoyed the Fireside series, each book has been well written, with heartwarming storylines and likable characters that will touch your heart while they find their happily ever after.

This is the second story I have read in the Fireside series and I was very excited to read about David. I knew there was something intriguing about him in the last book and I was glad to find him the subject of this new release.

I can understand trauma and how it changes a person. But what I don't always understand is the need for a lot of drama when it comes to romance. So be fair warned, you will see drama.

Sometimes it's hard to find and understand the double standards that a woman gives her man. David was a wonderfully crafted character and Camden, had issues and sometimes didn't deal with them well. That created fissures and sometimes drama between her and David that was frustrating to me.

The author did a wonderful job with the way that David was able to work with Camden and get her to release her rigid emotions. I love the story line she created. The love and caring person that David was shined through.

With plenty of fiery, emotional, steamy sex, along with fun and family connections, this book was definitely hard to put down. I absolutely loved the ending and wished it really hadn't ended right there. I know I lost a few tears along the way.

I'm also sad to see this was the last book in the Fireside series but the author went out with a bang. She left us with this memorable story.

Back to the Fireside Grill. Back to the people who make this series fun and interesting. Stacey Lynn really held my attention throughout His to Seduce. I can always count on her to give us characters with a bit of tragedy in their pasts and a way for them to work through it with the other by their side. David and Camden were no different.

David, former doctor, current bartender. Best friends with Declan and Tyson. Unfortunately, he’s close to losing those friendships, losing the woman who could be the love of his life. He has to come clean and tell everyone exactly what drove him back from Chicago to Latham Hills and the Fireside Grill. The truth will either set him free or lose him everything that he holds dear in his life. After a disastrous dinner where his past meets his present, he knows he has no choice but to tell Camden why he lied and made her think he was living the life of a care-free bartender.

Camden has her own trust issues and problems in her past. Brought up by a single mother in a trailer, she’s not proud of her past but she’s proud of the woman that raised her. An incident that happened when she was 12 years old has her holding back in her life. With her friendships, with men … she knows that they can’t handle the truth and can’t trust them to not look at her with pity instead of love. When David comes clean, she knows that she owes it to him to tell him the truth but she still can’t face everything. When push came to shove, when she yelled out what happened, he stepped back and left her feeling like she was no longer good enough for him. Little did she know that he stepped back to give her space to come to terms with him loving her and wanting to be there to support her.

So, unfortunately, there was a little too much angst in this story for me. Camden just dragged out her past way too long. She lived on lists, order, nothing that she could call “living” a life but just surviving a life until David showed her how much fun living can be. When her past is thrown in her face, she feels betrayed, not freed. I just couldn’t connect with her. David was just the opposite. When he realized how much he hurt her, he swallowed his pride and opened his heart to her. Too bad she couldn’t give him that back.

I loved that David pushed Camden to let go, have fun, test her limits … too bad she didn’t do that with her heart earlier in the story. The beginning of the story was HOT … the end of the story was beautiful. And, I did enjoy His To Seduce. Stacey Lynn always makes me smile and the HEA was beautiful. I loved the support shown by both families and the way David brought them all together. Her characters are always well thought-out, fun and compelling and her story-line never falters. Enjoy your trip back to the Fireside Grill.

If you are looking for a HOT, STEAMY, and EMOTIONAL romance that will completely SWEEP you off of your feet, look no further than the FIRESIDE series by the talented Stacey Lynn. HIS TO SEDUCE is the series finale, I believe, and it's incredibly sad to say farewell to these beautiful characters. Like most Stacey Lynn romances, HIS TO SEDUCE will have you swooning from one page to the next, leaving you breathless and wanting MORE. I think it's safe to say that David and Camden's story, albeit an angsty one, is SCORCHING HOT and SWEET as HELL! A woman with a tragic childhood finally opens herself up to be loved, and the man who had eyes for her from the very beginning, is just the man to take on that task. Full of romance, emotion, and heart, HIS TO SEDUCE will leave you with a HUGE smile on your face and an urge to devour the rest of this sexy series!

Stacey Lynn Rocks!

This book was awesome from the front cover to the amazing ending. I didn't read her previous Fireside books. But I definitely am adding them to my TBR list. Even without reading the whole series I was able to follow along with no problem.
The summary of the book without giving away too much of the good stuff is David tries to seduce Camden on a vacation weekend in Jamaica. They both have lots of secrets they are keeping from each other. And when some are found out it pushes them apart and they have to work hard to make things work again.
This one is definitely worth the time to read. And the ending just makes your heart melt ❤️

His to Seduce is the fourth book in Stacey Lynn's Fireside series. This book is bartender David & overachiever Camden’s book. These two have been going around each other for months, giving off vibes that they want each other but haven’t acted on it. I get the impression it is more Camden not allowing David in and walling herself off yet the vibes are there, and David picks up on it and knows they would be explosive together. David doesn't give up, especially not when he wants something as much as he wants beautiful Camden.

The tropical location that they went to for the wedding that took place for one of their friends allowed these two to explore their relationship. When there, She finally gives into David McGregor’s advances. She thinks this is just a fling and it will get him out of systems BUT that is not what happened. David is prepared to win Camden’s heart. He does everything to show her that he is in it for the long haul. David sees that the walls she has built around not only her heart but her emotions and herself are super tight but he knows he just has to find a crack or some hole and he can worm his way into her heart. I loved how David kept at it, kept battering those defenses of Camden’s and showing her she was worthy of being loved. Trauma can change a person and can make them withdraw from life and that is what happened with Camden.
Will David get thru to Camden, or will this all be for naught? I loved every twist and turn in the story. I found the sex hot and emotional, the story complex and the characters great. I cannot believe this is the last book in the Fireside series. David and Camden’s story went out with a bang. I cannot wait to see what this author has next.

My rating: 4.8 stars ****

Spoilers ahead

David the former doc left his job after a tragedy and works at Fireside, he met Camden and proceeded on a months long quest to get her to give him a shot.

Camden is the uptight one of her group of friends. She's made it clear she won't date a bartender but while in Jamaica for her friends wedding she gave into temptation and hooked up with David, but when the secret that David's been keeping is revealed Cam flees back to her hometown but David isn't willing to give up

Ok so Camden came across as a gold digger but she craved stability and safety more than money. She'd been very poor as a child (though her pverty felt way too OTT and was harped on too much)and didn't want to relive those years. At 12 she was almost raped by her mom's boyfriend and that horrific event shaped a lot her thinking

David was a good hero, he wanted Camden and consistently pursued her refusing to give up. He'd quit his role as a doctor after a patient died and thinking Cam was a gold digger he let her believe he was only a lowly bartender and not a millionaire trust fund baby and a former doctor.

I'd have rated this higher if the last 25% wasn't all over the place.the mcs admitted they loved each other and the story pretty much fizzled from there. Additionally considering this is the last book (I believe) in this series this author once again failed to deliver an epilogue making this a HFN rather than my preferred hea.

H wasn't a manwhore, he'd learned early that some women wanted him for his bank account so he was cautious
h had been attacked as a child and though she's had a couple relationships she wasn't really able to relinquish her control and really love anyone before the h

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This can't be over. I mean...I'm not stupid. I know that we've gone through all of the characters/friends and it has to end at some point. But come on!!! I can honestly say that I'll have a series hangover for quite some time now. (insert sad face with tears GUSHING)

David is the doctor turned bartender that we've all grown to love over the course of the series. FINALLY, we get his story. And what a story it is. We as readings already knew that he was a doctor, but not everyone knew. The woman he's had eyes for thinks that he's only a bartender and has mentally written him off. But he's determined to earn her trust. Can he earn it before she finds out the truth about his profession?

Camden has always been, Camden. Making lists, checking twice and very rarely stepping out of her comfort zone. But at Trina's wedding in Jamaica, she takes a leap. Unfortunately, she doesn't quite get her footing before she lands. In fact, her leap turned in to a full out run. But now that she's had a taste of what "no fear" feels like, can she return to her old self, or blossom in to the beautiful woman she never thought was possible?

Am I talking in code? You bet your sweet a&& I am. David and Camden each have their own personal demons to concur. The best part of this story is that when push came to shove, they were both there for each other to face it head on. Like I stated before. I'm really going to miss this little group. I'm so happy with this HEA...so happy I actually shed some tears of joy.

Well done Stacey Lynn...well done. Your series was always one I looked forward to reading.........now hurry up and give me another one. I love your writing!

While this can absolutely be read as a standalone, I've followed the Fireside Series from the start and I have to say, I think this one may be my favorite. I've enjoyed them all but there's something special about the dynamic between Camden and David that really sucked me in.

Both David and Camden are running away from something in their past so there is a bit of drama to them. But what I like the most is how David never wavered. His goal was to get Camden to open up to him and the idea of them together when they went to Jamaica for their friend's wedding. He knew that he wanted more than a casual hookup and he did everything to make sure she knew that and knew his intentions.

Camden has been very calculated in everything she does since she was twelve. A horrible past has left her with a lot of emotional pain that she hasn't really dealt with and it has left her unable to really enjoy life the way that she should. David does something to her and forces her to face her fear instead of running from it. He's exactly what she needs, even when she doesn't know she needs it.

The two of them are just absolutely perfect for each other and they balance each other out. They push each other and support each other all with the intention of fulling making the other happy. I had a great time experience them fall for each other.

I'm sad that the Fireside Series has come to an end, as I've really enjoyed it. I've liked all the characters and I truly enjoy the writing style from Stacey Lynn. It flows effortlessly and really helps keep the pace steady.

Overall, I enjoyed this book. If you are looking for a super sweet man with a big of cocky swagger and a sweet but haunted woman who is looking to come out of her shell, then this is the book for you.

I have loved this series and I am sad to see it come to an end. I've always wondered about Camden, she seemed to be a rock for her friends but very standoffish when it came to men, well now I know why. Camden hasn't had an easy life and because of that she is a hardened woman that keeps men at a distance, but she is a friend that most people would want, she would do what ever is needed to keep her friends happy and safe.

In this final book of the series the gang is in Jamaica to witness the wedding of Blue and Tyson (His To Love, Fireside #1), Camden has been fighting her attraction for David but David has the weekend to change her mind about being with him. You would think that this would be an easy feat since she is so attracted to him but I assure you that it was anything but easy.

I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book.

This book was so emotional. Camden and David were both broken in different ways. David handled his issues differently from Camden. It was very emotional reading the situations they both faced and overcame.

At first when you start reading, Camden can be misunderstood but after you read what's happened to her then you will understand. David I just loved from the beginning. The secondary characters as always were awesome and I loved how this ended.

Loved this story!! I've enjoyed all the Fireside books but this was truly my favorite. If you've read the other books in the series you will recognize David and Camden, if you haven't - don't worry this book easily stands alone. These two have been flirting and dancing around each other so when they are thrown together during their friends wedding they finally come together in an explosive weekend. On their last night together secrets come out that pull the two apart. David isn't ready to give up on them though and he works to convince Cam just how good they can be together.

This is a fantastic story and a great conclusion to the series. I highly recommend this one.

Camden and David......two people running/hiding from their past, only to realize that their past is what shapes their future. In order to have a future together, they must accept and confront their past.

I loved reading Camden and David's story; being a fan of Ms. Lynn's for quite sometime and she did not disappoint with the latest addition to her Fireside Series.

Ms. Lynn immediately draws you in to the lives her characters and she did this again with His to Seduce.

The book blurb pulled me in and grabbed my interest in reading this story. Plus, I read and enjoyed the last book in this series. I found that this book, with its familiar characters, hot sex scenes, and cute couple, just to be an okay read for me. Something in this story left me wanting when I compared it to the last couple's story.

His to Seduce is the 4th book in the series and can be read as a standalone although I think after reading it (I didn't read the previous books yet) it would be more enjoyable if you'd read the books before this one.

This book centered around Camden and David who had obviously had some interactions in previous books. Both characters have some issues although Camden's are much greater. Camden had something happen to her when she was twelve that made her protect herself. She wanted control of everything that happened in her life and so she turned to lists and organizations. She worked hard to be successful and never have to worry about financial security and vowed to never have a boyfriend who didn't offer security. I had a really hard time connecting with Camden. She was so closed off and when I discovered what happened to her I found myself surprised that it wasn't more severe (not that I am saying she didn't go through a horrible situation but the lead up led me to believe it would be worse). Camden wanted security above all else and she was quick to judge other people based on what job they had not on who they were. Camden knew that David was very loyal to his friends who he'd known since childhood and would do anything for them so her "excuse" of it wasn't that he didn't make money but that he could leave at the drop of a hat because he worked as a bartender just made no sense to me. Since this was the driving conflict in the book I had a hard time with it.

I really enjoyed David. He saw his father die as a young man and decided to become a doctor. Unfortunately his need to save people conflicted with an ER doctor's ability to save everyone and when he had a difficult case where he couldn't he decided to take a break. David is in a place where he isn't sure which direction he wants to go in and so in a state of flux he works in his friends bar and has been pursuing Camden for several months (I assume in the previous books we actually see some of this).

Camden and David get together at the beginning of this book at a wedding for their friends. Camden decides to just let go and have some fun but still doesn't want anything serious with David do to her trust issues with him. David really likes Camden and wants more so he continues to pursue her and hopes that she will realize that they really have something together. Of course when Camden finds out David hasn't been open about his past she sees it as betrayal. Although I understand that she was upset Camden hadn't been open and honest about her past with David so it bothered me a bit that David had to do all the groveling for forgiveness.

Although I liked this book my issues and inability to connect with Camden made this a 3 star read. I will however go back and read the previous books in this series.

She was a wild card, skittish and closed off. Out of anyone I could go after, Camden would be the hardest to win.

David McGregor has returned home to Latham Hills, MI to escape the guilt of running after tragedy struck back in Chicago where he was an ER doctor. While he figures out what he wants to do with his life, he’s keeping what happened in Chicago a secret and spending his time bartending at his friend’s restaurant to help him out. It’s here where he meets the tightly wound and closed off Camden Reed. He can’t get over the intense attraction he has towards her and even though she’s rebuffed his advances for months now, he is determined to get her to give him a chance. Camden can’t deny she’s attracted to David, but she thinks that he’s everything that she doesn’t want in a man. But as she spends more time with him, she finds that he pushes her out of her comfort zone and she’s surprised that she actually likes it. Camden has built up some pretty serious walls over the years to help her cope with something from her past, will David be able to break through and convince her that he’ll always be there for her?

“Don’t hide from me,” I whispered, and held her tight to me. “Don’t you know that I want to know everything about you? That I want all of you?”

I’m a big fan of Stacey Lynn’s books and have had the Fireside series on my TBR since it was announced, but I have to admit that this was the first one that I’ve gotten to actually read. It can stand alone, I never felt like I was lost by having not read the others but I can imagine that fans of the series will really enjoy catching up with some of the past characters. Overall, I enjoyed this story. David was fantastic. I loved his character and the way he (gently) pushed Camden past her comfort zone and helped her realize that the way she was living wasn’t how she wanted to live. He was great with her and he was willing to stick by her through thick and thin, even when she didn’t exactly make it easy for him. I went back and forth with my feelings for Camden. I did feel bad for what she went through, but I didn’t always understand her reactions to things and her standoffishness started to color my feelings against her. I found that I liked her most when she took chances and let David in but it was usually tempered by my frustration at something she would do that would push him away again. David was definitely a patient man! When she let her guard down, they did have great chemistry, though! There were plenty of steamy scenes that I really liked. Despite all the ups and down and back and forth with my feelings about Camden, I thought this was ultimately a sweet, sexy and heartfelt story and I really enjoyed the ending! I guess now I’ll have to make time to go back and read about the rest of the Fireside gang!

Her mysteries had drawn me to her. Her vulnerability set me on fire for her.

His to Seduce by Stacey Lynn is the fourth book in the Fireside series and the first book in this series that I read. I will admit from the start that coming in at the end of the series, I have some insight into the lives of the other characters from the previous books. I love series about friends and/or family, so we start hitting my “love to read” buttons. While I know where the characters are at the end of the series, I don’t believe it ruins this story and it doesn’t dampen my desire to read their journey. In fact, I will be reading the other books to know how the story complete story.

His to Seduce is the story of Camden Reed and David McGregor. Anyone who reads the series from the beginning probably knows a little more about how this couple arrives at the start of His to Seduce than I do but I caught up quickly. They are good romance characters for me. They both have damaged pasts and hurdles to overcome to trust in a new relationship.

Camden Reed is a woman who is super organized. She plans, lists, and plans some more before moving forward. She needs the structure to protect herself against the unexpected. The thing is regardless of how much you plan for the unexpected surprises will happen.

David McGregor is a man who changes his career direction after a family tragedy. He feels like a failure and runs from his position as an emergency room doctor because he can’t handle losing anyone else. He struggles because of his inability to save all his patients.

I am very impressed with Stacey Lynn’s writing and storytelling skills. The story is written in a way that the pace is decent and steady and continually spurs the reader to want more. The two main characters are developed cleverly while the chemistry between these two jumps off the pages.

David and Camden have the qualities that I like in my romance novels. It is captivating learning what makes these two characters tick. David is a good man with a lot of patience. Camden is a lovely woman with a little stubborn streak. She has the determination to succeed and fights the odds. I admit that Camden does come close to pushing some of my buttons and very close to making me want to give her a little “snap out of it” slap a few times.

My only criticism is one that I often make in these push/pull stories. The push goes on a little too long. For me, it would work better if Camden is slightly more forthcoming even if she doesn’t tell all her secrets immediately. There are times that she doesn’t feel honest to me and could give a crumb or two. Also, and this is just my personal preference, I would like a little more for the ending. It feels like everything wraps up too quickly and, therefore, a little epilogue would work here.

His to Seduce is a splendid read. It is my first Stacey Lynn book, and it won’t be my last. I am adding the other books in the series to my “read next” list and putting Stacey on my “watch what she writes next” list. I thoroughly enjoy her writing and look forward to more.

His to Seduce is the fourth book in the Fireside series but it can be read as a stand alone. Each book is about a different set of characters and the characters from each previous books are only secondary characters in the books that follow. I have had the opportunity to read the entire series from the beginning.

I liked this book but not as much as I liked the second and third instalment of this series. This and the first instalment were average but I adored the two in the middle. Sounds strange right? Seriously though, this series did not seem to follow the same unspoken rule where the first is best and it's downhill from there. I guess it was more like an Oreo cookie where the goodness is found in the middle.

I liked Camden and I liked David but what stopped me from loving their story as much as some of their Fireside friends was that the book started with sex. It literally began with them having sex and then some more and then some more. I'm no prude and I like a good detailed sex scene or two in my reading but give me a story first. Build me a connection and drizzle it with chemistry and then throw in the between the sheets action. That, to me, is so much hotter than just two random people having sex. There was a tiny bit of flirting between the two of them in the previous book but they were only secondary characters and if you didn't read that instalment you wouldn't know.

Eventually the story did take over and that was when I started to enjoy the book more. Learning about both of their pasts and the struggles they had was when I couldn't stop turning the pages. As is typical with any good contemporary romance, there were many obstacles that they had to overcome to be together on an emotional level. The physical cam easy, it was the rest that they struggled with.

I'm not sure if there will be any more books in this series. All of the characters seem to have gotten a story. However, if by some chance there comes a new Fireside resident, I will certainly be anxious to read it.

“When do you know when it’s time to say goodbye to your dreams…or your fears…or your past? And what happens when you don’t know what you’re supposed to be doing?”

Camden & David’s story is so much fun, yet tough. I love how full of life David is and how he gets Camden to open up, let loose, have fun, and forget about all her stresses. I read a lot of this story with a smile on my face and chuckling often.

But it’s not all fun and laughs. Camden & David both bear a lot of pain, and cope with it in different manners. Camden had a hard past, so her lists and structure are what help her cope. David helps Camden face her past and it’s sad and difficult for her. But David also has a secret. Will this destroy everything he’s worked to get to with Camden?

To be honest, I felt like David's secret was trivial. He wanted to know that he could trust Camden before letting her know who he was or everything about him and his past, which is understandable; and Camden, of all people, should understand that considering she's the exact same way. Camden’s trust issues are completely understandable, but his secret, in my opinion, was not that big of a deal, and why he kept that secret made sense. I found Camden’s reaction to be over-dramatic and unnecessary, not to mention, a double standard, being that she’s keeping her past a secret as well. The lack of communication between the two was very frustrating at times. I felt if this one scenario was handled in a different manner, and with a different reaction, this would have made the story that much better, as everything else was amazing.

I enjoyed the plot and the peeling back Camden’s layers. It was heartbreaking and you could feel how difficult it was for her to talk about it, to open up, to feel. You could feel her fear and trepidation. I especially enjoyed David. He’s so much fun and a good, caring guy. He wants nothing more than to help Camden and be there for her. He genuinely cares for her. I loved his pursuit of Camden and the way he sees right through her and never gives up.

“Every part of me is yours.”

Camden and David balance each other and are so good together. I enjoyed all the friends and their relationships and bonds. It’s very heartwarming. This is an enjoyable, steamy, emotional story about learning to trust and being able to move forward that left me with a full heart and huge smile on my face.

“Feel the fear and do it anyway.”

I jumped into this series with book 3, His to Cherish, and fell in love with the characters of Fireside. From that point, I knew I needed to read the other couples' journeys to happily ever after and had to get my hands on David's story. I absolutely loved him! He was a genuinely sweet and caring man, a passionate and attentive lover, and perfectly patient with Camden. While he was battling his own demons and uncertainty surrounding his future, David spent nearly every moment trying to pull Camden out of her structured way of existing. He was the perfect guy to help her overcome her own demons and embrace the freedom and love she could have with him.

I loved David and Camden's passionate affair in Jamaica. It was so damn hot and fun. It was wonderful seeing Camden let loose and push back her fears if only for a few days, which was just enough for those cracks in her shield to start forming. David was prepared to take full advantage of those spaces to ease into her life, and man did he ever! I loved watching her fall, and the ending was fabulous!

Stacey knows how to bring the heat and passion as well as the emotional elements to her stories. This book wasn't as emotionally taxing as her others, but I think that was because their pain wasn't as much in-your-face as the previous books. I also think it was a little because I didn't completely connect with Camden. I understood her history and subsequent need for her lists and obsessive behavior to battle back her fears and need for control. However, I felt like her reasoning to hide what happened to her was a bit contrived. I also didn't like the double standard she created when forcing David to reveal everything to her without doing the same.

In the end, I liked Camden. She just needed to let the past go. I'm glad she had Chelsea to talk some sense into her. I also think she could have used a new therapist. I would have liked to see more from this couple after all was revealed, and I'm going to miss the other couples and what lies in their future. Even though I know this is the end of the Fireside series, I'm hoping that Stacey Lynn might give us glimpses of these characters in some way. Maybe a holiday novella or newsletter short?

I'm a big of Stacey Lynns writing and have read her books before and love her writing style but, this is the first book in the Fireside series but, had no problem following along. I will add the other 3 books in the series in my reading list after reading this one though.

Camden and David are both trying to escape from there past and the secrets they hold. After giving into there desires a friends wedding David thinks he's finally getting somewhere with her after her continuously saying no.

Even though she was very attracted to him she had a need for control that honestly bothered me at times. I get her past has impacted her present and her potential future but, her hang ups were a bit much for me and at times I just couldn't get it. Even though I did like her towards the end I struggled a bit with how I felt about her most of the time, she was bit melodramatic for my taste but, like I did like when she would try to let down her walls. David on the other hand I loved!! He was understanding, compassionate, gentle, loving, he was just great at handling her many moods.

Overall I really enjoyed this book. It was sweet, emotional, and steamy.

3.5 Stars

David and Camden have been dancing around one another for a couple books now, and they finally get their story. And, at first I wasn't sure what I thought about the way it plays out, the idea that they are a vacation fling.

This ended up working for me, because while this was how Camden was able to allow herself to become involved with David, it wasn't where David was in their relationship.

The books with a secret one of them is keeping from the other can be a tough sell, as it feels their is a "lie" between them. In this one, the lie didn't bother me as much as the resolution did. I am not really able to get into it, as that would be a spoiler for the resolution of the story...but I was not really able to buy into the decisions David made with the path of his life. I just didn't think this would happen...or if it would, as there is likely someone out there who has done similar, it was too easy in the story.

This is the last of the books, so there was some narrative that was focused with the other characters, which was balanced nicely without taking away from David and Camden.

I do recommend this book, but with the minor reservation that I was not fully able to engage with the entire story ARC.
