This book didn't really meet my expectations.

I do like that the "little book" gives a nice summary of each type of disease, as a quick-reference, but to get better, in-depth information, you'll have to do your own research.

His list of resources at the back of the book (all except one) is public websites. I felt like I was essentially reading a book that was a summary of all these websites. Meh.

Most diseases produce similar symptoms, so the rehash of the same symptoms, over and over again for the various diseases was monotonous, but the author, I believe, tried to alleviate that pain with bits of humor here and there.

This book meets its goal of giving a primer on a plethora of diseases, so from that aspect would get a 5. I'll still keep it in my book collection as a quick/fun-reference from an academic standpoint, but it's not one of my absolute favorites. I may replace it on my shelf with something else, in the event a better pandemic book comes along.

Also - yeah, must've gotten tired near the end because there were at least 2 typos which is incredibly annoying and makes me wonder how serious they were about publishing this book.

A fun and informative read. Had several typos and was a bit overlong as some of the categories could have been combined or shortened.

This was a nice quick read about infectious diseases written for those who are curious enough to want to read about it.

Interesante, pero creo el lenguaje no se adecua a los requerimientos de un libro informativo. A ratos deja salir la voz y opinión del autor.

A number of editing errors sully the book's presentation quality, but the basic information given for each disease is accurate. Although it is a bit dated (no entries for Zika, acute flaccid myelitis, or COVID-19), the information given is helpful to those who know very little about etiology, virology, epidemiology, and historic outbreaks of specific diseases. I am one of these people, so I thoroughly enjoyed learning what the author did cover. It is also convenient to have such a portable book on hand that summarizes the world's many pandemics.

The book was very informative, but very boring. If I had the option to read this book again or jump off a bridge, I would choose the bridge. The book did it’s job at informing people, but it was so boring I couldn’t bare to actually comprehend it. Props to the author for being able to write such a boring book. (Sorry if this offended the author, my teacher made me write this, so blame her. She also made me write this apologize)

Cute and short recap for many common and some uncommon diseases. It was slightly informative and may be a good read for someone just starting to get interested in these facts. There were a few things I wasn't expecting but overall I was unsatisfied with the information.

Also I'm a little worried about giving this to someone who isn't adept with disease research because although it has a lot of good starter information it can be a little alarmist at times which could frighten someone away from further research.

What's not to love about a little black book of pandemics......a great pocket guide to one's favorite viruses, bacteria and prions.

Очень клевая книжка, но так как про все заболевания рассказано очень кратко, лучше всего читать с «Википедией». Узнала о существовании прионов и антивирусов (я-то думала, их еще не придумали!).

Enlightening but not something I would class as being a "book".
Seems like little leaflets put together in a hard cover.
