Two powerful shifters: one of feathers and one of flame.
Hailey is torn. Everything she thought she knew about her life has been turned on its head, and she no longer knows where she belongs. Losing her job and possibly her best friend makes her desperate—as does the reality that everything she loves might be destroyed.
Wyatt wants one thing more than anything else. Hailey. He has waited centuries to find his mate, and he will let nothing, not even an unimaginable evil, get in his way.

I received this ARC from the author in exchange for an honest and voluntary review. I was in no way compensated for this review.
Alyssa Ivy Rose the author behind the phenomenal Chronicles world series--not sure what to really call this since all the series are titled differently but all take place in this same world--begins Hailey's story with Torn! It's been awhile since I finished up Owen's story but I was quickly caught up to speed on what happened with him and essentially Hailey! And wow!! Just wow!!!
So Hailey had one incredible night with the Drago named Wyatt. Ever since then, it seems, her life has been in a funk. She's just kind of rolling through the motions. She was the one to leave Wyatt that night, mostly because she was scared of what it might mean. Hailey is a fiercely independent young woman and I love that about her. But as Hailey will learn, being independent doesn't mean you have to do it alone. Wyatt is a Drago who knows what he wants in life and that is to be with his mate, Hailey. He just needs to win her back, which isn't going to be as easy at that. But Wyatt is a very patient young man, and I admit, I totally swooned over him! The best thing about Alyssa's guys in this series at large is that they are the ultimate definition of SWOONWORTHY!
But romance is far from Hailey's problems as she is to act as a stand-in for Allie at a sort of paranormal women's conference! Basically where the paranormal women will gather and talk about the paranormal world at large and their growing role in it. But naturally, things get a little...crazy! To start, Wyatt is the Drago representative and has invited himself to stay in the same house as Hailey. And Hailey isn't exactly wanting to rekindle any kind of relationship with him...yet, because obviously these two are going to work something out! LOL!
Then the speech that Hailey was told to read gets a little revision from Hailey herself and it's not long before she finds herself on a "voluntary" leave of absence as Allie's assistant. It seems to be a running theme in her family. And then Cade, whom I could just barely remember, asks for their help in infiltrating a group of sorts that may be planning something nefarious in regards to the Society and its rulers, namely Levi and Allie. Wanting to protect her friends at whatever the cost, Hailey agrees and Wyatt does too, namely to protect Hailey.
What I really liked about Hailey and Wyatt is how easy they seem to role into a relationship. Hailey is basically expecting him to be all macho and overprotective, but Wyatt knows that Hailey is capable of taking care of herself. While he does still have a protective streak to him, it's more...contained, I guess you could say! It's hard to really verbalize what I'm trying to say, but all you really need to know is that I loved their relationship. I'm a bit fuzzy on the details of their past connection, as it's been eons (i.e. wayyyy too many books) since I last read Love, which is when they likely made said connection or close to it! Lol! The problems of a book nerd run deep!
And like all of Alyssa's romances in this long running (and totally amazing) series, it's HOT! I love how intense the relationships run. These paranormals take romance seriously and they love truly and deeply, and the romantic in me gets all sappy and mushy over these romances!
There's quite a mystery running within this one! It's so early in the series though, so it's hard to say what might happen or not. But let's just say there's something fishy going on around here! And I also loved the added cameo from a particular Dire I was rather fond of! Plus we get to meet some new characters as well as seeing a few other familiar faces! It's definitely shaping up to be one killer series!! Plus, it's Hailey after all! She's always been a favorite of mine ever since the first Flight Chronicles took off! I can't wait to see what her Happy Ending will entail!
As always, you can easily pick this one up and not have to know what happened previously. This is Hailey's story after all. But it will spoil other character's HEA endings for you. So really, your best best is to binge read the previous series at large and prepare yourself for an entirely delightful and incredible set of adventures!! And these are amazing awesome reads, I think for the most part all these books have been a one day read! And since the lot of you seem to read wayyyy faster than I ever could (LOL!) I'm sure you can get caught up in 2-3 days! They are all incredibly fast paced reads that you don't want to put down, unless life demands it of you and then you know, you have to listen, regretfully!
So please do yourself the greatest kindness ever and read this series! Read ALL the series!! Because they've all been truly awesome and I have loved every moment of every single one of them! And of course there's that added pleasure that comes from binge reading: no waiting for the next one!
The first installment in Hailey's story was just as great as I hoped it would be. Loved the scenes between her and Wyatt, and their chemistry was palable. I also loved seeing some of my other favorites characters, especially Owen. Can't wait to see what Alyssa has up her sleeve fo the rest of this series.
While the story is interesting and engaging, the dialogue is horrific. It's awkward and wordy. Instead of using first person for perspective she has them say everything. It's unrealistic and a bit oainful at times.
I received Torn in return for an honest review from the author.
Hailey's brother is living in another realm with his wife as well as the one man who she's been avoiding since they had a passionate night together. When her boss and bestfriend asks her to give a speech at a supernatural women's convention she easily accepts. Upon arriving at the house she is supposed to stay at she finds that one Drago is the representative that will be at the conference.
While Hailey can't deny the attraction to Wyatt but she knows that they don't have a future which is why she left before. After deviating off her speech things she draws unwanted attention from a stranger who's determined to change things taking away the power of the society. After being put on leave by her boss for her speech she returns to meet with the supernatural stranger and figure out what is really going on and who she needs to stop. At least she won't be going alone into the lair of the sorceress because things are heating up with Wyatt. Plus another Pteron will be by her side as he's also been pretending to join the side taking down the society. Will they make it out alive? What will Hailey think when she finds out what's really going on?
I like Hailey a lot and she's grown so much through all the prior series books it was time for her to have her own happy ever if she might have to work for it. I always had mixed feeling that Wyatt was the guy for Hailey. I admit a part of me wished a Direwolf had won her heart but he grew on me though the book. They have this sizzling chemistry that just works so well.
Torn is the long awaited story of Hailey female Pteron who's always been the best friend and sister in the different series. I was anxious to dive right into her story and had to the moment it arrived on my kindle. Torn doesn't disappoint in the least it exceeded my expectations as another fantastic spin off of the Cresent Chronicles. We get to see a little of some of our past characters as well as an introduction to some new characters. The author has done it again creating another beautiful story to capture hearts as well as imaginations. I'm not a huge fan of cliffhangers but it actually works. I can't wait for the next installment to see how they are going to get out of this situation. I highly recommend that you check out Torn with is stunning cover and equally captivating story. I loved every moment of it.
I loved reading Hailey and Wyatt's story! Even though they are not meant to be according to the Pteron society, they are so drawn to one another! Their love hate relationship along with all the bickering made for an interesting book and of course left me wanting more!
Hailey... She is best friends with the Pteron's princess and is sent on a job to give a speech in her place. While doing so, she goes way off from the speech only to have more trouble coming in the future. This trouble starts with her best friend possibly being mad and firing her, but ends even worse than she could have imagined.
Wyatt... He has been in love with Hailey since the first time he laid his eyes on her. He knows they are meant to be, but Hailey always pushes him away since she believes Pterons are only supposed to mate with humans. His mission is to prove to her how right they are. In doing so, he fears Hailey may be in danger and only wants to keep her safe. The last thing he could take would be loosing his mate.
This was such a great book! You do not have to read the other Pteron Chronicles to know what is going on. Alyssa Rose Ivy does a great job at explaining details that might have been missed if you didn't read the other series. I cannot wait to read book 2 in the series!

Good characters and story development - lacks editing.
Most of the female characters in the Alyssa Rose Ivy's New Adult fiction stories require saving by their stronger male counterparts. It is refreshing that, in this book, the lead female character, Hailey, is strong and independent in her own right. It is also refreshing that the male counterpart, Wyatt, recognizes that strength and independence. This makes for a much healthier relationship based on an equal partnership rather than the co-dependent, male-controlled relationships of Owen/Daisy and Levi/Allie.
For those readers who value good editing, however, this book was sorely lacking. Word-choice and gender-pronoun errors were very distracting at times - as was the prevalence of the phrase "that whole (insert descriptor here) thing." Drove me crazy!
have patiently been waiting for Hailey's story since the very beginning of Alyssa Rose Ivy's paranormal venture The Crescent Chronicles. Hailey Kaye has always been trying to prove herself to her brother, his friends and future king to The Society since she was a young girl. Early on Alyssa Rose Ivy created a character that we can all identify with, root for, and with time have slowly developed a kinship of sorts with. I was beyond excited to see where Ivy would take Hailey on her journey.
Ivy never, ever disappoints when writing her intricately woven tales. Torn, The Pteron Chronicles is just another wonderful addition to her paranormal works. No, you don't have to read every one (there is many) of ARI's Paranormal books to read Hailey's story, however I do highly recommend that at least start with her brother Owen's story in Lure- The Allure Chronicles. But I can tell you that I've been reading since the beginning and have loved every single one of ARI's books centered around The Society. In Torn, ARI decides to heat things up a bit between Hailey and her drago, Wyatt. As much as Hailey loves to be viewed as a strong independent woman, there is a pull to Wyatt that is unexplainable. Their relationship is tempting, angst driven and leaves you with questions about the force that draws them together. In true ARI fashion just as you think questions will be answered she leaves you hanging! I can't wait to see what is in store for Hailey and Wyatt. If their love will restore The Society or break everything! One thing is for sure, ARI hit another paranormal romance out of the park!
Torn is the first book in The Pteron Chronicles. Let me just say, OMGGG !!! I was over the moon and so excited. This is the series I’ve been waiting for, Hailey and WYATTS story. If you have read my other reviews you will know that Wyatt is my favourite. I absolutely love dragons so much. The fact this was a two POV book too, so we got both sides of Hailey and Wyatt story, which I was thrilled about.
I read this book so fast, I read it in under a day. The story line was perfect as always. Full of new discoveries and hair- raising trouble. Now we all know Hailey very well from the other chronicles series. She is such a brilliant character, she is outgoing and has a fiery attitude and gets herself into these dangerous situations. At the time Owen, Jared, Levi were there to get her out of trouble. Now that they all have their own lifestyles. Hailey feels that she is stuck and not sure where she belongs now. Allie has a request for her, but yet again Hailey will be Hailey and gets herself into an awkward situation. That leaves Allie in a horrible situation for her best friend and advisor. With her life spiralling out of control, Hailey finds out some shocking discoveries that have been kept from her, and her whole life.
I absolutely love Haileys and Wyatt Relationship, there both so firey there literally perfect for each other. Wyatt has been searching for his mate for centuries, and now that he's found Hailey, his protectiveness is so adorable. But Haileys has none of it haha, she is all woman power and wants to prove to herself she needs no help and support from men. But sometimes having a little help never means you're weak, it just makes you stronger as a person.
Full of twists and turns. We meet new characters and some old characters return. Also finding out what's happening with Owen and Daisy, and that ending blew me away. Epic read. I can't wait to read the next book, Tempt.
Great spin off for Hailey's character. I have always like Hailey's spunk and fiery side. Wyatt is persistent and determined to gain Hailey's affection. I love the banter between the two. Sparks flying...love it. What I hated was it ended and I need more NOW!!!! Hahaha. Great read for a paranormal fan. Anxiously waiting one the next one........
Fabulous read. I always knew Hailey was destined for great things. And bringing back other characters made it that much better. Action packed and dramatic. Passionate and angst filled. Twists and turns I never saw coming. How can I possibly wait for the next book?
I quit after reading about 20% of the book. Bored by the politics, "women platform", refusing to acknowledge true and deep connection with another being. Plus being utterly helpless and powerless - yuck!
I didn't care about much of the conflict, but was hoping the romance would redeem it but even at the end of the book I still know hardly anything about the main characters
It's okay. I think it's best to have read the previous books in spin off series, Owen's book and Allies book as events in those books affect actions in this one. There are constant references to their history.
A great new paranormal series from this author. I can't wait to read more. I must admit I found at some point the story went a little bit slow and was given the run around in a few dialogues, apart from that I am eager to read more.
I have been waiting so long for Hailey's story, but this started a little slow for me. It picked-up at the end so I hope she keeps it pushing through in book 2!
When it comes to Wyatt there are times Hailey is in denial about their relationship, “he’s not my dragon boy.” We weren’t together, and even if we were, he was definitely not a boy." Wyatt likes to make sure that he and Hailey are on the same page, “it means everyone we deal with knows we’re together.” I had discovered a jealous side..." This ends in a cliffhanger, but honestly I was happy where Wyatt and Hailey were so it didn't upset me much.
When I seen another book was being released I did a happy dance. I have loved the Chronicles since Levi and Allie.
Hailey and Wyatt meet again and forge a bond. Diving headfirst into danger all the while falling for each other. I don't want to give too much away. Like the others this book doesn't disappoint. I can't wait for the next one but it's so far away!! This is my all time favorite series!
Man I really enjoyed this book. I loved the connection between Hailey and Wyatt, their chemistry is off the charts, they’re mates but Hailey has banned any talk of mates but is happy to take their relationship public. I loved their friendly arguing it made me smile. During this book Hailey goes to a Summit to deliver a speech in Allie’s place as not only a representative for the Queen but the Society as well. She even warned Hailey that she has to read the speech that she’s been given when she’s speaking in Allie’s place but is happy for her to go off script later once she’s talking as herself but about halfway through the speech she doesn’t agree with some of the points so she really impassioned and completely off script by saying what she believes is right. Everyone at the Summit loved her speech but she knows that she’s going to be fired not because Allie wants too but has too as it’ll undermined her authority as Queen. When she arrives in San Francisco for the Summit she gets to the mansion that she’s meant to be staying at and Wyatt opens the door, he’s the last person she’s expecting nor wants to see after she’s been avoiding the Dragos Realm therefore not visiting Owen and Daisy due to seeing him because she’s scared of what he makes her feel even though she’d never admit it. Owen was meant to be the Dragos Representative but he can’t leave the Dragos Realm as Daisy is pregnant for the first born Dragos in years and Dragos mates pregnancies are pretty dangerous if precautions aren’t taken but really Wyatt is at the Summit for Hailey since they’re mates. I loved how much Wyatt respects Hailey’s strengths and doesn’t automatically feel the need to protect her. After the predicament that Hailey, Cade and their team made up of other descendants from the secret society of the Emerald Flame that Verona was trying to recruit them into or at least pretending to as the Emerald Flame is trying to take the Society out of power which isn’t good as the Society serves its’ purpose well so I’m really looking forward to reading what happens next. All I can say is that I think Troy will be punched before long as he’s starting to annoy Hailey and Cade. I’d recommend this book, series and author to everyone.
I've loved seeing Hailey grow up through the previous few series. She's been a favorite for me from the very beginning in the Crescent Chronicles. I love her spunk, and she's kept that through everything. She's very independent and hasn't had a relationship in so long now(has she ever had one? .. I can't think of any), that she doesn't know how to handle a relationship nor does she want one... even after a seriously steamy night. Wyatt, said steamy night guy, has other plans, and I think he's going about things in a pretty smart way.I think this series is going to be every bit as addictive as the previous series that take place in this world.
Torn by Alyssa Rose Ivy was kindly provided to me by the author for review. The opinions are my own.
From the moment I picked this book up, I couldn't put it down! Hailey struggles with the choices she has made work wise, and her feelings for Watt; all while trying to deal with someone/group trying to take over the society. I have loved the Perrin series from the start and Hailey's story doesn't disappoint!
