Thoroughly enjoyed this early-revised Louise Allen Regency. Helena is a delightfully independent heroine whose spur-of-the-moment decisions always mean well, but the consequences just tangle her up further.

Second time around

I found the first book when it was under the dule authors, and enjoyed the story very much. Even written as Ms. Shaw, Louise Allen presents an action packed adventure and love story. The second presentation is a refinement that I really enjoyed ...as I have read most of her books on kindle. I cheerfully encourage other readers to try this one.

Francesca Shaw is, according to the inside cover, is two ladies writing together, which is kind of neat. It was a Harlequin, though, so the balance was nearer to girl porn than light social comedy than I normally consume. The only thing was that the heroine was a little fixated on the fact that she had seen the hero striding around barefoot on the decks of his yacht (it sounds so bizarre to say that here, hm) and it was enough to pull me out of the story, frown at the book, and say, "Okay, that isn't really sexy."

This book is a reissue from Louise Allen updated from the original by her and another writer as Francesca Shaw.

I wasn't sure of this story at first when we meet the hero and heroine at the beginning but it's one of those stories you can really get into as it goes on.

We learn much more about the navy (the army is covered more by M&B in this period) as well as Napoleon's spies - is our hero one? Or is someone else nefarious making him look like one?

Helena, as the daughter of a hero of Trafalgar herself, is pivotal here as she is also instrumental in saving the hero.
