This book was screaming my name. My favorite niche obsession, mid-century chairs, in book form! A great, simple listing of 100 iconic chairs from about 1930-1970 with detailed summaries and fun facts about each. The introduction was especially enlightening, giving us the juicy details as to why chairs are such statement items, and why we love them so much. I highly recommend this to anyone who appreciates mid-century modern furniture and design.

I very much enjoyed this book. I think that many times those of us in literary studies/literary history talk about material culture but do not look at the materials that make up that culture. I read this book while traveling, and it was the perfect tome to delve in and out of on an airplane trip. There is so much visually and textually to love and enjoy about this text, and anyone interested in the mid-twentieth century in Europe or America (historical, literary, artistic, etc.) should definitely read and enjoy this text!
