I actually read this for the 2017 challenge, but forgot to add it to my shelf. So Good Reads will count it (wrongly) for the new challenge. Interesting book, though, if it felt like it was written for children. I enjoyed it.

Wish it had pictures

A far if old book. But they had captions of photos this book did not have. Wish it had even of they were in black and white.

What a great book for children to learn about the amazing buried treasures that are Pompei, Olympia, and Mycenae! There are gorgeous pictures of the actual excavations of these mythic places, and the story lines are engaging for both children and adults. Having recently toured Pompei myself, I found Jennie Hall's descriptions and story about the city to be more informative than the actual tour I received. A wonderful book!

It is a simple and yet a very interesting book with beautiful stories about those cities and its peoples. Sadly the pictures do not come with the Kindle version. I highly recommend the read.
