From the moment I picked up "20th Century Fashion: 100 Years of Style by Decade and Designer, in Association with Vogue," by Linda Watson I had trouble putting it down because it gave me so many fashion coordination ideas and educated me so thoroughly about "Vogue" from the 1900's to the 1990's, that I felt repeatedly drawn to it. Separated by eras, the beginning of the book called "the decades" was written in a breezy style packed with so much insider information from the pages of the magazine I felt like I was alive during the eras prior to my birth in 1961.
Exquisitely illustrated with photos and illustrations that depicted each era and designers' offerings, the second portion of the book, "the designers" was so eloquently listed alphabetically from A to Z with such precision after I read the bios I felt even more immersed in the fashion world presented. Published in 1999, the main asset of the book for me was how its historical data provided an excellent place to study the previous years in an industry that changes every day.
