Dark Elves: Taken

Rate this book
TAKEN
Everyone's heard tales of the Dark Forest, tales of entire bands entering the depths of the forest and simply disappearing, then the bones of some of the victims showing up neatly arranged toward the safer outskirts of the forest. Bones of the male victims. The females simply... disappear.

After being robbed and left unconscious, Diana is determined to hunt down the thief and recover her money, and sets off after him...through the Dark Forest. She and her friend Gala soon learn the secret of the Dark Forest, home to black-skinned, white-haired, sex-oozing devils. These elves instinctively know more about sexual pleasure than any human ever could. Captured, taken, Diana is brought to the heights of ecstasy by Commander Salin, but still won't submit...

Never has a woman been so much trouble. Never has a woman so ?red Salin's blood. He will have her. He must.

MASTERED
Suzana has lost all she held dear. Her family dead at sea, she, a musical mage of noble birth, has been taken by slavers. But then the traders' caravan is overtaken in the Dark Forest by the mysterious raedjour who are determined to take the one thing she still calls her own: her body.

Suzana's capture is cause for celebration amongst the raedjour. Virgins are highly prized, and a tournament is held for the honor of taking her maidenhead. And once it is taken, she will be passed to a different warrior every nine days until she finds her truemate.

From the moment he saw her, Krael knew Suzana was his to conquer. Her soft body incites the lust he's honed over many cycles to pleasure and train women. He'll have her body, but he has no interest in being her truemate...until Krael's king is determined to take her. Only then does Krael grow determined to master her for his very own.

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be used... pleasured... Taken... Mastered?

Publisher's note: This book contains explicit sexual content, graphic language, and situations that some readers may find objectionable: Bondage, domination/submission, dubious consent, male/male sexual practices, and multiple partners.

I really liked this book. If you are familiar with Jet Mykles work, then you know that she is not an author that writes for the faint of heart.
There is A LOT of sex scenes in this book. There are M/M, F/M/F, M/M/F and M/F/M interaction in this book. It also has some BDSM elements to it. Not hardcore, but not light either.

Dark Elves consists of two stories, both are connected and share the all of the characters between them.
The Raedjour are males that live the Dark Forest. They exist in caves underground, and have made a rather beautiful kingdom. They are allergic to sunlight, and all of them have a specific job in the community. They are mostly very tall, well built with black skin and white hair. Their ears have an elf-like quality and most have some kind of magical ability.
They were created by a Goddess who wanted sexual slaves. When she was banned from her creation, the Raedjour who are all male-have had to kidnap any female who enters the Dark Forest, so they can continue to breed and not be extinct.

They are seeking out their "Truemate" and this is only determined whether or not when a male breeds with a human female and if she gets pregnant. If she doesn't she is passed to the next male in line.

As the human female stays there, her body starts changing. She soon becomes darker skinned and her hair changes much lighter.

I found the world of the Raedjour quite interesting. Their customs and ways of thinking was pretty original to me. The males do not abuse the females, but cherish them. But, because they were created for pleasure...the males seek it, A LOT.

I like Jet Mykles books, so this book was up my alley. But, because of the strong sexual content and explict language this book will not be for everyone.

Wow! There isn't much more I can say about these sexy elves that hasn't been said already. Jet has created a wonderful world with some lovable characters. I'm thinking of taking a walk in the woods around here some night. Who knows? Maybe I'll get lucky too! ;) This one is a definate keeper for me.

OMG very hot. Elves created just to bring pleasure to women. They know exactly what you like. You don't have to guide them. What more could you ask for.

This could be accused of coming perilously close to crossing that intangible line between erotica and unrepentant porn. I'll simply say this book is what it sounds like and, as long as you aren't expecting any high literary efforts or epic plots, it does what it sets out to do.

"Dark" elves (their skin is obsidian black and they have snow white hair - they're not evil unless you count kidnapping human women to have children with) were created by their Goddess to be her sexual consorts. Since it was all about her, she never bothered to create females for the elves. She buggered off somewhere so they don't have any women to procreate with. A warning to those who don't like slash - the elves are all bisexual, so it's not like they aren't getting off or anything, it's just not always with kitty action. Elves can only get their truemates (I think that's the term used in the book - can't rightly remember) preggers and the population is decreasing, so they're always on the lookout for likely candidates. They kidnap human women and pass them around in 9 day stretches until the girl's perfect match is found.

It's really just an excuse for pages upon pages upon pages of kinky sex. There is some character development, especially in the second story, and the second volume (which has the third and fourth stories) looks like there's actually a story of sorts beyond, "Lo! Let us bugger this wench until one of our virile appendages gets her with child!"

It was entertaining and when the non-epic plot bunnies started popping up, it even got interesting beyond the "Wow, what position are they trying now?" way. There's something brewing with their crazy king and I'm gonna find out what it is. Volume two, here I come. Er, that sounded bad...

TAKEN The Raedjour. A race created to service the sexual needs of a goddess. With black skin and snow white hair they are told to be the living evil that dwells in the Dark Forest. The raedjour mate with human females to produce offspring. To find a mate the women a passed from one male to another until she gets pregnant by her one and only truemate.

Diana will not submit to her fate as a raedjour captive. She fights and struggles with every male, and they take her, unwillingly, anyway
Until Salin.

Everything about this story from the characters to the telling of the culture of the Raedjour is a treat for the senses. Very interesting, sensual and entertaining.

MASTERED Another dark and sexy tale from the world of the Dark Elves. Suzana is ambused by the Dark Elves along w/ a group of captive slaves. Grateful she is not being sold into slavery she is wondering who these men in the Dark Forest are.

Krael fights and wins the right to be with Suzana for her first time. His domination of her is depicted through various erotic acts that also include a whip!

If you enjoyed TAKEN then MASTERED is another sweet treat.

I can only say that this series has rocketed to the top of my wish list. It is firmly in my top three...of which I never thought I'd change, but...there you have it.

The stories are hot - way hot, the heroines are a good mix of fiesty and yet full of heart and compassion (yes, even Diana, ladies...she's all heart...you just have to work to get there!) and the men...well, hell, they are what fantasies are, pure and simple. Yowza!

Enjoy! I can't wait to get the next one!

*************************************************

Ok, I ordered this book based on the fact that Inara had it on her "to read" list...she's never steered me wrong (Thanks, girlfriend!)

I started it this morning...boy, big mistake...I have to be in court today, how will I be able to focus now?!? Hot, tense, and intriguing...and I'm only three chapters in!

CAUTION: These are NOT your Mama's elves! They do NOT bake cookies in hollow trees or help Santa build toys at the North Pole. There are plenty of reviews here to fill you in on plot details, but I just thought I would warn those unsuspecting few who may not have heard of these guys.

And thank you, friend, for the late Christmas present of this book!

Heck, I've gotta' throw in another half a star for the heat factor alone! Be prepared...

What a fantastic book! I took Daisiemae's (Shellie's) recommendation and ordered this book after reading "Howl" and "Leashed". I'm so glad I did and now I can't wait to start "Salvation", the next in Jet Mykles' series.

Taken - Diana is a fighter. She was abandoned by her mother as a young girl and she resists anything good due to her feelings of unworthiness caused by her mother's betrayal. When she's captured by the Dark Elves, the sexual pleasure she's 'subjected' to cause her to fight her feelings harder than ever before. What will she do when she's confronted by a man who won't allow her to hide behind violence?

Mastered - Suzana is a prized virgin. Captured and on her way to a slave auction, she is 'rescued' by the Dark Elves. When her beauty and talents bring her to the attention of a twisted ruler, can her new lover Krael save her?

Both of these stories are hot, hot, hot. The overt sexuality of the Dark Elves, created to be 'consorts' of a Godess, are hot enough and when you add in love and 'truemating', you're liable to singe your fingers as you read.

WARNING: If graphic descriptions of love, sex, M/M, M/F, and M/F/M offend you...stay away from this book. As for me, it's on my keeper shelf!

I LOVED LOVED LOVED this book! It is so different from other books in this genre. There are 2 stories: Taken and Mastered, each with different main characters, although the characters intertwine in both stories.

This book is about a race of elves called raedjour- they were male creatures created by a goddess named Rhea as pleasure consorts. Once the goddess had to leave this world, they had no women to share their pleasure with so they starting capturing women travelers and turning them into raedjour to satisfy their urges.

Great concept, great love stories, so much fun to read! Now I am going to read all of Jet Mykles books!

I think I need a drink! ;-)

Oh my goodness....these elves aren't the little guys you think of when you hear the term elves. They are big, muscled and unbelieveably hot. If extremly erotic, explicit books aren't your thing, I don't advise this series for you. If it is then you are in for a real treat. Yummy just flat out yummy!

So yesterday night for the first time I took in hand this book by Jet Mykles. I know her for her M/M story, which I like very much (Heaven Sent series, Snagged and Tech Support) but I know she is very famous also for this series. I was not sure, but a friend of mine (naanbld) has convinced me and so...

The Dark Elves are strong and black creatures made by a goddess for her pleasure. But then the goddess has to leave and she said to her "baby" to go out the wood and take human women to procreate. A women can be impregnate only by a Dark Elves, so every Dark Elf can stay nine days with the woman and try to impregnate her. If he fails, the woman pass to another Dark Elf.

Diana and Gara are two of these women. They are opposite: Gara is gentle and shy, she is ready to adapt to her new life. And fortunately she soon finds her truemate. But Diana is a woman warrior, strong and proud and she doesn't want to leave the command of her life in the hands of a man she has not choosen. So she fights and bite and spit... but she can't deny the sexual pleasure she feels in the arms of these men. Then Salin sees her fight on the arena and he decides he has to have her: he feels she could be his truemate and he will do everything it takes to convince that woman.

A very interesting erotic romance. Diana and Salin are born warriors and it is interesting to see they fight to gain control until they discover that in love and sex there no control...

An interesting world where dark elves, who live underground because they can't tolerate sunlight, kidnap human women, to become their mates. The Elves only produce males. In order to breed, they need females. Through magic they transform the human women into their race. This book has two short stories. The first story held my interest more than the second. The heroine in the first story is feisty, smart and stubborn. The hero is a delicious alpha male hero. I loved their banter. I loved that neither one of them gave in too easily. This is not literature. These are erotic short stories. If you're looking for a great plot or War and Peace, you'll be disappointed. There's m/f, m/m, m/f/m.

4 & 3 stars for two stories: mostly erotic sex scenes set in an interesting world. Caution: rape and brutality.

This book contains two elf fantasy stories which take place in the underground world beneath the Rhaen Mountains. Long ago before the gods left the earth, the goddess Rhae created the raedjour, a race of men as sexual consorts and bodyguards. “When she left, she had to do something to ensure their survival. So she told them to steal human women. They already oozed sex, so there was no doubt the women would be attracted. The goddess gave them a spell to convert human women to raedjour so that the women could have the raedjours’ babies.” Unfortunately all raedjour babies are male, so there is always a need to steal women. The raedjour are lean, muscular, and gorgeous. They have black skin, white hair, and pointed ears. Some have magical abilities.

There is a lot of potential for interesting story, but we don’t get into it. I would have liked to learn more about the characters, their abilities, their world, and what might happen with fighting humans, etc. If you want a full story, you won’t find it here. The purpose is sex, and it’s above average.

4 stars for DARK ELVES 1: TAKEN.

Story Brief:
Diana and Gala are mercenary soldiers. A thief stole Diana’s money so they follow the thief into the mountains. While on the road, they are kidnapped by the raedjour and taken underground. Various raedjour have sex with the women to determine who will be the “truemate” for each woman. Gala accepts the sex more easily than Diana. Diana fights every step of the way. She claims they are repeatedly raping her, which they are. But her body betrays her as she feels sexual pleasure – which she hates. Salin pleasures her without entering her. He won’t complete the act until she asks. She wants him, but she’s too stubborn to ask.

Reviewer’s Opinion:
It was pretty much one long sex scene after another. For erotic reading it’s good. I didn’t care for Diana that much. She’s got quite a chip on her shoulder. But overall it’s above average for erotic scenes which include rape, self pleasuring, rear door activity, and men with men.

Data:
Story length: 145 pages. Swearing language: mild. Sexual language: strong/erotic. Number of sex scenes: 13. Total number of sex scene pages: most of the story.

3 stars for DARK ELVES 2: MASTERED.

Story Brief:
Susanna lost her family in a shipwreck. She was captured by slave traders who are taking her to a slave auction. The caravan is attacked by raedjour who take Susanna and the other female slaves to their underground world. Because Susanna is a virgin, the raedjour hold a contest to see who will win the right to take her virginity. The winner will spend nine days with her. If he gets her pregnant, she is his truemate and stays with him. If not pregnant, other raedjour spend nine days with her. This continues until someone eventually gets her pregnant. A problem develops due to the king who is insane.

Reviewer’s Opinion:
As in the first story, this consists of more sex scenes than story. But there was enough to keep my interest. The only reason I gave it 3 stars instead of 4 was because I found myself skimming one or two of the sex scenes. There is a brutal whipping which creates painful wounds and scars. There is also ménage a trios and rear door activity. It was pretty good, but I preferred the first story – partly because of the newness of the world which is introduced in the first story.

Data:
Story length: 149 pages. Swearing language: none. Sexual language: strong/erotic. Number of sex scenes: 11. Total number of sex scene pages: most of the story.

DATA FOR BOTH STORIES:
Setting: unknown time underground location beneath the Rhaen Mountains. Copyright: 2005. Genre: erotic fantasy romance.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Jet Mykles writes a lot about men with men, but she has two series of women with men: Dark Elves Series and Leashed Series. You can find the titles of all of her books on her website under the name jetmykles. She creates her own art for her books, which is shown on her website. I like her art. She has 31 pictures of different scenes from “Taken.” She also shows multiple scenes from other stories as well.

Loved it!! Especially the first story, Taken, with Commander Salin!

TAKEN: Never in my life have I flipped to the front cover while reading as much as I did while reading Taken. (He's the guy on the cover, on the right, with the short, slightly curly hair)...now do you see why? :) Not only was the hero awesome, the heroine, Diana was great as well. Before being captured by the Raedjour, the society of dark elves that live deep beneath the mountains of the Dark Forest and were created as sexual consorts for their Goddess Rhea, Diana was living an independant and dangerous life with her only friend Gala. Since the Raedjour can only breed with their one "truemate", who is always a captured human woman since they only produce males, they often ease their new captures into their world with a lust spell to make it less traumatic. But Diana is extremely fiesty and won't calm down, and being the excellent swordswoman that she is, they even nicknamed her hellcat :) As is tradition, the captured women spend 9 smokin' hot days a Raedjour man, and are tested at the end to see if they're pregnant, and have thus found their truemate. If not, they're passed along to the next man, in an order determined by the sorcerers. Commander Salin has never been tempted before, but he finds Diana's fire irresistable. He demands to be next to "try" Diana. His room is filled with lots of fun contraptions and night after night, Commander Salin brings Diana exquisite pleasure, although she tries to deny it all and admits nothing. He refuses to fully take her, until she gets over her resistance and begs for it...and it was sooo worth the tease! I loved the chemistry and dialogue - Salin and Diana were a perfect match!

MASTERED: I also loved this hero, Captain Krael, who is not only a skilled warrier, but also a master at sexual whip play (hence, the hot photo of him with a whip on the cover). I still really enjoyed Mastered, but I didn't care for this heroine, Suzana, as much as Diana. Can I even call her a heroine? She was pretty weak to me...her family has been killed, and she's off to be sold to fetch a high price for her virginity, when she's instead captured/rescued by the Raedjour. She quickly falls for Krael and insists that HE try her first. She was super submissive, right from the beginning and all throughout...I guess I like more of a struggle for submission? She just fell into it waaay to easily for me. I guess when you know, you know ;)

The end of both stories were very intense, and as erotic as they were, do not doubt these are LOVE stories. I look forward to continuing with this series!

Never really read these types of erotic romance novels and I must say this was really really good. This book is very daring and dark, sexually. I think the reader who explores their sexual side will be able to do so with this book. Once in the Dark Forest, nothing is ever the same as the elves are very sexual and females are rear. This book contains explicit sex of m/m/f

TAKEN

After being robbed and left unconscious, Diana is determined to hunt down the thief and recover her money, and sets off after him...through the Dark Forest. She and her friend Gala soon learn the secret of the Dark Forest, home to black-skinned, white-haired, sex-oozing devils. These elves instinctively know more about sexual pleasure than any human ever could. Captured, taken, Diana is brought to the heights of ecstasy by Commander Salin, but still won't submit...

MASTERED

Suzana's capture is cause for celebration amongst the raedjour. Virgins are highly prized, and a tournament is held for the honor of taking her maidenhead. And once it is taken, she will be passed to a different warrior every nine days until she finds her truemate.

From the moment he saw her, Krael knew Suzana was his to conquer. Her soft body incites the lust he's honed over many cycles to pleasure and train women. He'll have her body, but he has no interest in being her truemate...until Krael's king is determined to take her. Only then does Krael grow determined to master her for his very own.

Story: GOOD
Intimacy: D.R.I.P (don't read in public)
Enjoyment: GOOD

So I'm giving it 4 stars, but with the stipulation that it's 4-stars for erotica. Diana and Gala, a pair of mercenaries in an alternate, medieval world, venture into a cursed mountain range tracking a man who stole from them. They're captured by the creatures who live in the mountains, a race that was created by a goddess for sex. The race has no females, but they keep their species alive by kidnapping human women and turning them. There's a mate concept here, where each creature is only fertile with his "truemate."

I usually hate erotica, but this one worked for me, mainly because for once I could forgive the heroine's attraction to the man/men she supposedly hated. I mean, they're a supernatural race of males created for sex. Who wouldn't be attracted? I can't respect a heroine in a contemporary novel softening up for some guy just because he's handsome and suave, but when it comes to the point where even his sweat is an aphrodisiac, I sort of feel like, "OK, I can accept this since it really isn't an issue of willpower." Also, despite everything, she was never really disrespected. The race just was what it was, and they were honest about it. There was also something refreshing about all the creative sex (male-to-male, bondage, sodomy, etc.). I know that sounds weird, but again, it just seemed more honest to me than a lot of erotica that tries to be hardcore and stuff without ever risking anything truly taboo.

This book is erotica, so if that's not your thing, stop reading.

This is a paranormal erotica series that I had been led to believe has a lot of D/s and bondage. It's actually only partly about power games and leather restraints - it also has an elaborate loss of virginity scene, exhibitionism, lots of true love, a menage, m/m action, and everyday hot vanilla sex. A little of everything, with nothing so extreme that it will turn you off if it's not your thing. I was pleasantly surprised, and look forward to reading more by this author.

The setup is pretty silly, but if you regularly enjoy fantasy literature, you should be able to stomach it. There's an underground city filled with 1000 dark elves - they have onyx skin and white hair, tall, and muscular. They are extremely long-lived, and were created by a goddess to be her sex toys, hence they are very horny and have no sexual hang-ups at all. Only problem, she didn't create females for the species. When she was forced to leave the mortal plain, she gave her elves a spell to convert human women into elves, and told the elves to steal woman to be their wives. Problem, though: only a true match (soul mates) can conceive, and only sons are born. So if you think being kidnapped by amazingly hot men who worship you and have amazing sexual skills sounds like good fantasy material, you might like this book.

Dark Elves 1: Taken was surprisingly good. It wasn't at all what I expected and I really liked the main characters. It's about a race of dark elves that only produces males. They have to kidnap human women to procreate with. I thought they were perfect together and I felt that Salin (the hero) treated Diana in exactly the way she needed. I know she felt that she was forced and I could see that, but Salin really made it work for them. My only complaint is that I wish there was a little more focus on the world that the dark elves live in. What little that was given was interesting and I wanted to know more about it. I recommend it.
4.5 stars

Dark Elves 2: Mastered was good, but not as good as Taken. I didn't connect with the H/h as much in this book. The conflict was a little pointless since it was obvious that there was going to be an HEA. Now, you could say it was obvious in Taken, however the struggle with Salin and Diana was amongst themselves. In Mastered, the conflict was in the form of the King and I figured he wasn't going to get what he wanted. I did like the fact that we learned a little more about the world that the dark elves live in.

I admit going into this book that I wasn't expecting much, but I was in the mood for a bit of erotica and the dark elf aspect intrigued me. I was 10 pages in and I was hooked. I really enjoyed Gala and Diana's adventures when captured by our "dark Elves". I feel JM did a great job with building her world and her characters were easy to connect with, even her "bad gusys" weren't really bad guys. The premise: our two heroines get kidnapped by a underground people who were created by a goddess to be her consorts. Problem? She only created men. So the men need to go out and capture women in order to procreate. Our heroines were initiated by sex and made to sample many men before finding their truemate.

If you enjoy light erotica with a bit of light BDSM and a touch of Fantasy then you will definitely enjoy this book. I enjoyed it enough they I have gone out and bought the next one in the series.

Honestly said I don´t understand the high ratings for this book. It´s just about sex, sex and even more sex. The silly and forgettable plot seems to have just one purpose: to prevent the sex scenes merge into each other. If you like PWP books you will probably enjoy reading this book but if you´re interested in a bit more storyline and where the sex is just the icing on the cake you won´t be very impressed. Sorry, this book fell flat with me..

Unfortunately I already bought the second book in this series, sigh!

I can't rate this one because it had some themes that get me all soapboxy. Short version (because I'm writing a real review for later consumption):

1) Nonstop sex. So, great for readers who need their erotica fix!
2) Triggering for - rape, non-con, Stockholm Syndrome, female objectification
3) First two novels in a series combined together
4) ZOMG. I have seen banner ads from Jet Mykles for over 10 years now. To find an edited, print version from LooseId at my library? Blew me away.

So, I actually really liked this book. The characters were really interesting and I even liked what little of the world I saw. This would have been a much higher rating if there were more plot and we saw more of said world. However the spice🌶️ was perfection.

Okay, this lost major points for me when Mykles used "scalping like an indian" as a description of something, I can't even remember what at the moment. It was REALLY off-putting to see that within the first few chapters. Aside from that, it's a perfectly decent erotic elf tale perfect for a late night jerk-o-thon.

Erotica, toeing on the line to porn.
There basically isn't any plot, at all. Its just sex scene upon sex scene, so if you're into that, perhaps you'll like it. But I find books like this completely lack in the buildup of sexual tension, letting all that sex fall flat, and it's just b o r i n g.

Also: is it IMPOSSIBLE to write erotica that isn't romanticising misogyny and rape?! "Non-consensual" or "dubious consent" are just euphemisms for rape. This entire book is trying to justify rape by gifting the dark elves with the ability to feel what their partners are feeling and so they KNOW that their parter is enjoying it, even if they say no = not rape... W T F?! No means no, mother fucker
And on top of everything, these women are kidnapped and forced into sexual relationships with these elves as they're an all male race who need human women for procreation, and so the women are basically high of the sex-magic oozing from the skin of the elves, so even when it is consensual IT IS NOT, b/c drugged, kidnapped and Stockholm syndrom.

This first Dark Elves volume contains two stories, Taken and Mastered. The premise is quite simple and reminded me somewhat of Jaid Black's viking stories - the underground city, the big sexy men taking women captive from topside, that aspect. There's a few interesting elements here that make the black-skinned Elves - who call themselves raedjour - enticing. Let's face it, their sex on legs, literally. Created as a race of consorts for the Goddess Rhae, when she left the world she found a way for them to have women and children (only boy children, hence the need for more human women).

In the first story travelling companions Gala and Diana are captured while travelling through the elves' forest. Gala settles in easily and quickly, but Diana is resistant. Passed from man to man until she finds her truemate, she fights them all - until Commander Salin takes her in hand. Diana's a wearying character but Salin more than makes up for it ;)

The second story sees virgin slave Suzana rescued along with some other slave women from a caravan passing through the forest. Because she's a virgin the raedjour hold a special contest to see who gets to be the first to have her. Salin's second-in-command, Krael, wins her and finds her delightfully submissive. He denies his feelings for her but the insistence from his somewhat mad king, Valanth, to pass her over makes him realise he can't let her go.

Broader plotlines are introduced in Mastered, and continued at greater depth in the second book. The prose is simplistic but in a positive way, allowing fewer distractions from the stories. Though the formatting was a little weird. The world-building is sketchy and mostly unsupported, but since sex is the focus it hardly matters :) Overall, it's a very raunchy book with some well-developed characters in terms of their personality.
