Kinky Sprinkles

Rate this book
Their biggest challenge is balancing one's vanilla with the other's kink.

Joel has finally walked away from his abusive ex and is ready to meet new people. But that isn’t easy for a guy who’s shy, self-conscious, and struggling with his body image.

Andre has wanted Joel since the first time he laid eyes on him, and finally Joel is single. But Andre is a Dom and a sadist, and Joel is unapologetically vanilla. There’s no happy medium—either Andre reins in the kinky side that took him years to accept, or Joel grits his teeth and subjects himself to kinks that aren’t his thing. No matter who bends, someone’s going to be unhappy.

They agree to walk away, but they keep circling back to each other. Though their kinks might not line up, the chemistry between them sizzles and the emotional connection keeps getting deeper. But none of that will get them anywhere if they can’t find some kind of middle ground in the bedroom.

L.A. Witt and her husband have been exiled from Spain and sent to live in Maine because rhymes are fun. She now divides her time between writing, assuring people she is aware that Maine is cold, wondering where to put her next tattoo, and trying to reason with a surly Maine coon. Rumor has it her arch nemesis, Lauren Gallagher, is also somewhere in the wilds of New England, which is why L.A. is also spending a portion of her time training a team of spec ops lobsters.

Authors Ann Gallagher and Lori A. Witt have been asked to assist in lobster training, but they "have books to write" and "need to focus on our careers" and "don't you think this rivalry has gotten a little out of hand?" They're probably just helping Lauren raise her army of squirrels trained to ride moose into battle.

3.5 stars rounded up to 4 because THAT COVER!

Oh, how I adore LA Witt! All of her books are either 4 or 5 stars from me. I love her kink, passion, sex scenes and writing style. I did enjoy this book, but I admit it was my least favorite of all the ones I have read to date.

A good portion of the story that bothered me was the length. Joel is recovering from an abusive D/s relationship but we're never told the details of what exactly went wrong, other than his Dom was a self serving ass. There wasn't enough time in the book to go into that.

I loved Joel and Andre both very much. Andre was a sweet, understating Dom who respected Joel's boundaries 100% and the sex was romantic with bits of the nasty thrown in. Again, we didn't have a lot of time to explore this sexual or personal relationship fully.

The ending threw me for a loop! Joel comes up with a solution for their incompatibility that would allow them to keep seeing each other even though they are incompatible with their kinks.

So, no HEA for now, but a tiny bit of HFN. Recommended with caution.

Why oh why does a book that I loved so much must end in such a fucked up way? I'm still pissed off about it 2 days later!

Joel has spent the past 2 years of his life in a relationship that was not only abusive, but went against everything he knows true about himself. Joel's ex is a "dom", an asshole who used power trips to embarrass and make Joel feel like absolute shit. Joel is not a sub, he hates pain and humiliation, and knows that he doesn't belong in this lifestyle. Joel realized his ex was a dom after being in the relationship for a while and tried to please him and be something he knew just wasn't him, only to keep the relationship going. We all make sacrifices for love, right?

After Joel got away from his ex and ended the relationship, he became a recluse. He managed to make quite a few friends in the BDSM world, but he doesn't know how to continue the friendships now that he knows he wants nothing to do with this lifestyle. His best friend convinced him join them for brunch and Joel realized he missed his friends and that they're a very accepting bunch who truly care about his well being. And then Andre shows up and blows Joel's mind.

Andre is a dom and a sadist, but that's no all he is. Andre is also a very sweet man who's caring and somewhat romantic. Joe has been lusting after Andre for a very long time, but he truly believes he's not even close to being good enough for him. Andre is hot, beautiful, mesmerizing, and confident, while Joel has a few extra pounds around his waist and a very low self-esteem thanks to his abusive ex. But Andre seems to be interested in Joel and their chemistry is out of this world; when they end up in bed together, they burn the sheets (and me) up. Holy shit these two can melt an iceberg in 2 minutes! The sex is hot and passionate and intense, with a note of desperation brought on by the realization that while they're a perfect fit outside of the BDSM lifestyle, they'll never be able to integrate that aspect in their relationship.

Joel is totally vanilla with some kinky sprinkles on top (like satin cuffs and blindfolds). Andre is a sadist and a dom who gets off on hurting others. And yet Andre and Joel can't stay away from each other and can't stop thinking of how good they are together. The solution is something I completely despise (and not understand the purpose of!!!)

This next part might be a little spoilerish, you've been warned!!!!!

Joel finds a solution to their dilemma: an open fucking relationship! Hell NO! That pissed me the fuck off! Andre has played with people before, including women, because he gets off on dominating and hurting a sub, not on their gender. After a scene he's always horny as fuck, but why would he need to fuck someone else when Joel could be there for that part? Joel gets off on watching Andre scene with people since the scenes are mostly not sexual and Andre is hot as hell in his intensity. He even said he loves watching him! And we know he loves fucking him! "Play with others but fuck me after" seems like the perfect compromise! Joel is a monogamous person and for him to accept an open relationship is too much of a sacrifice and not something that left me feeling warm and fuzzy.

This is more of a HFN kind of book, so if you're thinking about ILYs and happily ever afters you will be quite disappointed. 5 stars for the chemistry and the story, 2 stars for that awful resolution; overall a 3.5 stars rounded to 4 since I liked almost everything.

Kinky Sprinkles *A copy received via Netgalley for a honest review*

3.5 * Joel is done with the BDSM scene. Completely done! After the bad experience with Rob as his former Dom Joel got issues he has a low self esteem and has withdraw himself from his friends
He is done.....except there is Andre....a strong and good Dom. Their attraction is hot but Joel doesn't want to go back as a sub. And Andre wants nothing and no one else more then Joel.
Only Joel wants vanilla....

After a steamy night together things get complicated.
It was less kinky then what I suspected, it felt a bit chaotic and sometimes my attention reduced. Some minor subjects got quite some attention and I would have loved it when the attention were more projected on the feelings of Andre and Joel. There were parts I felt connection and some were less convincing.
I have some doubts about the end....because in reality....but...luckily this is a story.

Still it was entertaining and I enjoyed it :))

You know I enjoy my angst, and LA never disappoints, but I loved the way the angst was focused here. We're meeting Joel when he's not 'right off' a break up - he's had enough space to know his feelings and he's in that precarious stage of reintroducing himself to the people who only knew him as a sub. I loved how Joel was still haunted by his past relationship but not paralyzed by it - he moved forward at his pace, helped along by Andre...and I loved how he knew what he liked / wanted from a relationship. This was one of those 'this is bigger than both of us' books, and I loved Joel and Andre together. I was rooting for them and honestly, until the end, I wasn't sure how it was going to work. But the solution? Honestly, LA seeded it from the first scene where Joel watched Andre - it shouldn't have come as such a surprise but to me, that's a testament to how great of a writer LA is. The solution was right in front of us - and Joel and Andre - the entire time. But the stuff in between? Hot and sweet and necessary to get us there. Perfect combo. Loved, obviously.

It's a short story...and it's from one of my all-time favorite M/M Romance authors, L. A. Witt.

Joel and Andre have been secretly attracted to each other for several years, but until recently, Joel was in a relationship. Now both men are unattached and able to act on their mutual attraction, but Joel has learned from his disastrous previous relationship that kink is not his thing, and he knows he not only can’t, but won't, try to change who he is just to please someone else. He's been there and done that before and now says and means, "never again".

Andre is a Dom and a sadist, who is very much attracted to Joel. Like Joel, Andre knows who and what he is, and can’t, nor does he want to deny that part of himself just to please a partner, no matter how much he cares for that other man.

L.A. Witt has put her reader in difficult position. I really liked both of these men...and I could understand both of their views and what the problem was. Neither of them was wrong; both knew that they wouldn’t be happy living a lie; but there was that big part of one's life that the other knew he could never be a part of. As I read their story, I found myself trying to figure out how, or if, a compromise was possible. How were they going to make a relationship between a "vanilla" man and a sadistic Dom, ever work?

Their story was filled with many emotional highs and lows. It was obvious these two cared deeply for each other, and I really wanted them to find a way to be together and still stay true to themselves.... but was that even possible? The story is very much about BDSM and one partner...no matter how much they love one another...just not being into it. Throughout the story the reader has to hope that the attraction and love between these men will give them the means to find a way to make it work.

It's predictable. I keep hoping that it would not end that way. It was so good from the beginning. But the final chapter just ruined it for me. I do not care whatsoever about open relationship. I'm not being sentiment with other people in this lifestyle. It's their life. But I'm just not...interested. One bit. And because this is my own review, so I should be entitled to my opinion.

And I don't think this is BDSM book. It doesn't feel like it. *shrugs*

This will not have a conventional ending. Perhaps you'll see it coming, I honestly did not. That is the best way I can start off this review. Now I'll talk about it a bit.

This is a very kinky book! LA Witt has sure proven she writes great sex! Never rushes those passionate moments or those fabulous quickies. This book has some serious hotness to it!

One MC, Joel, really tugged at my heartstrings while simultaneously frustrating and angering me lol. He was in a D/s relationship, his Dom was abusive, selfish, and treated Joel poorly. But that's all you get. LA Witt kind of drop it there. The backstory there, I felt, was vital. I truly kept waiting for a morsel that would make me understand the motives that made Joel come to the decision on the type of relationship he chose with Andre. Had she expanded more there I think the connection from reader to the character would have been stronger.

Andre who is a Dom is understanding, kind, and patient with Joel. Everything a great Dom should be. However, there's a problem. Andre's kink is darker than Joel is comfortable with and it makes having a BDSM relationship impossible. I won't say more .

This book was hot and passionate, yes. But, it needed more explanation. Lengthening the story would have done that. I felt too much was omitted and therefore it just was a miss for me. I hope there's more of these guys and that can hopefully clear things up and fill the gaps.

This is an unusual story because it breaks a few m/m rules and this bending of the rules made it interesting for me.

This story is a jigsaw puzzle where the pieces simply do not fit.

Joel has had enough of BDSM and kinky sex. His former partner and dom made sure of that and now he just wants to find his own space and be who he is, instead of trying to reach the unattainable expectations of others.

And then he bumps into Andre. Andre is a sadist, fully involved in the BDSM scene and loves kinky sex. He is also very attracted to Joel.

And so what you have here are irreconcilable differences and maybe a relationship that will never be able to get off the ground.

But life is full of surprises and the deep attraction the men feel for each other comes into play.

Can they make this work?

BDSM isn't my favourite genre, first because I just don't get it, and secondly because so many of the stories I have read do not feel authentic to me, surprise surprise, but I enjoyed this. When it comes to romance LA Witt is an author who has really honed her craft and I could sense that. The story explores a very interesting dimension. What happens when there are deep seated differences. Can they be overcome and how?

Joel and Andre are both mature characters. They both know what they want and who they are, and yet at the same time they have a deep seated attraction for each other that simply wont go away and so they decide that their differences are too much to overcome and that they should ignore their attraction to each other, but yet they cant pull away.

This is a solid story. It felt real with no contrived drama, unnecessary angst and all those other overused plot devices that are so common within the m/m romance genre. I enjoyed seeing the way both men came together and the way they slowly realise that they need to find a way to be together.

And the writing conveys this in a steady, engaging and complete way.

And so I found myself pulled into their relationship, hooked by the complexities, the past and present, and I was engrossed in the story despite the BDSM.

The writing captures the emotional depths of both men and the push and pull.

The story is also subtly erotic. The eroticism has a peculiar way of catching you unawares. Normally when it comes to sex scenes I roll my eyes, because honestly? But in this story the sex scenes, and the BDSM scenes have a way of quietly pulling you under and I found myself pulled into them. I could feel the attraction and I could sense the atmosphere and the highs and lows.

This is simply just evocative writing even for the eye rollers like me.

But I wasn't surprised.

To be honest I knew it would be good. It is LA Witt after all. My only problem was that it ended too soon, leaving me with a bunch of unanswered questions. Definitely a good one, and well worth reading but I need to know what happened next.

By all accounts, I should have loved this story. I’ve read L.A. Witt before; she’s one of my favorite M/M authors. The amount of books I own from her catalog is insane. I came across this book in the Riptide Newsletter about a month ago, and I just had to read it, so I eagerly put in a request for it on NetGalley. I’d already read the first chapter via the RP newsletter, and I was into it. I counted down the days until it was available!

The premise? Joel is a guy recently out of a relationship with Rob who seems to have been a total toolbag. Everyone and their mother thought Rob was an abusive asshole but not one single person in the BSDM scene ever thought to intervene on Joel’s behalf somehow. I get the difficulty with trying to extract someone from an abusive relationship and attempting to reach out to help can only further complicate things, but I think there was a gaping hole that wasn’t filled with that aspect of the story. I kept staring at my Kindle in confusion. People were worried about him, but yet no one (not even his BFF) made moves to try and get Joel out from under Rob’s thumb.

There was also the fact that Joel didn’t enjoy BDSM at all and he’s now averse to anything kinky (aside from cuffs and blindfolds) because of his experiences with Rob. This all makes sense, but like I said, none of their backstory was fleshed out well enough for me.

Joel has very little confidence thanks to some extra pounds and the mindfuck he’s continuously encountered thanks to Rob. Joel’s friend April asks him to accompany her to the local BDSM club so that she can play (her Dom is out of town, and she doesn’t want to go alone). Enter Andre.

Andre is the Sadist Dom that April and Joel pretty much drool over. He’s the cream of the crop. April does some finagling to get Joel and Andre in the same space together, and the plot takes off from there. Dun dun dun dun…

I really wanted to like this book. Kink is my thing. I love it with a passion, but the characters in this story bored me to pieces. I couldn’t figure out why on earth Andre was this phenomenal Sadist many admired, nor could I get on board with Joel’s self-deprecation. I think this story could have been excellent if some things were expanded upon. I didn’t even enjoy the kink that was present in the book (okay, I’m lying, I enjoyed the glimpse into rope bondage) but it wasn’t enough to keep me interested.

This is 2-star read for me. Sometimes I jive with a book and sometimes I don’t. Usually, I can move on from it, but I have to say I’m SO bummed that I didn’t like this more. It’s not the norm when I dive into an L.A. Witt book. Color me shocked! What doesn’t work for me, might work for others so, give it a whirl if you’re looking for a book with BDSM elements.

I loved this short novel from one of my favorite writers of MM romance, L. A. Witt! The last three books I've read have been novellas or short novels, and fortunately for me, all have been excellent. I think it takes a special talent to tell a complete story, including character development and backstory, in a short format. Ms. Witt is definitely up to the task!

Joel and Andre have been secretly attracted to each other for several years, but until recently, Joel was in a relationship. Now both men are unattached and able to act on their mutual attraction, but Joel has learned from his disastrous previous relationship that kink is not his thing, and he knows he can't try to change who he is to please someone else. Andre is a Dom and a sadist, who is very attracted to Joel. Like Joel, Andre knows who and what he is, and can't deny that part of him to please a partner, no matter how much he cares for the the other man. I really liked both men, and understood their predicament. Neither man was wrong, and both were smart enough to know they wouldn't be happy living a lie. As I read their story, I found myself trying to figure out how, or if, a compromise was possible. How were they going to make a relationship between a vanilla man and a sadistic Dom work? I enjoyed their story, the emotional highs and lows. It was obvious these two cared deeply for each other, and I really wanted them to find a way to be together and still stay true to themselves. That's all I'm going to say, except to recommend you pick up Kinky Sprinkles and read the rest for yourself.

3.5 stars, rounded up out of loyalty.
I love L.A. Witt books. Many of them are on my re-read list and never fail to get the proverbial motor running ;)
Unfortunately this book didn't thrill me. I liked Joel, and that he was remaining true to himself and his desires. Same for Andre. I was honestly a little disappointed with the resolution, though I agree that it was the most logical answer. It just wasn't sexy!
I think that, most of all, I was missing the burning heat that I've come to expect from this author. It was a good story, with a good cast. I just came into it expecting something different, and wound up kind of empty.

Eh. Not gonna lie, I read this one because I thought there would be actual sprinkles or maybe a queer baker (don't ask me why I don't read summaries in full. Idk. I live on the edge) but alas, there was not a baker or a sprinkle in sight.

This one is about a guy, Joel, who was in a abusive and toxic relationship where his partner essentially forced him into kink and BDSM and after he finally left his ex he realized that he is not into that. While he was in the scene though with his ex he met Andre who is a dom and a sadist and they meet up at a munch have some chemistry things go from there but they both know that they're sexually incompatible because one is super into kink and the other is really vanilla.

So my biggest problem with this book is that Joel and his ex Rob went to a BDSM club and it is mentioned over and over again that other people knew that Rob was abusive yet no one did anything. They literally talk about how they're all so glad that Joel is out of that situation yet none of them helped him. I just find that really first unrealistic and really problematic. Unrealistic because BDSM is centered around consent and if it is clear that one of the partners is not consenting to something in a public setting how the fuck did no one step in. Problematic because it paints this idea that it was okay to just not intervene. Obviously there's a lot of fine lines when someone is in an abusive relationship and wondering how to interact or if you should interfere, if it's going to make it worse etc, but again this is fiction. There is space in fiction to create an example and the fact that everyone saw this abusive toxic relationship for three fucking years and did nothing just pissed me off more than anything else.

Otherwise this book is fine, about navigating sexual differences and kink levels etc the kinky sprinkles as the title suggests are handcuffs and a blindfold and I'm still disappointed that there were not actual sprinkles in this book.

Also the ending sucked.

*I RECEIVED AN ARC OF THIS BOOK FROM RIPTIDE PUBLISHING VIA NETGALLEY IN RETURN OF AN HONEST REVIEW*

It’s L.A. Witt, of course I had to read/request Kinky Sprinkles. The title alone made it a book I wanted to read! But somehow it didn’t make it to be one of my favourites from her and I can’t even exactly pinpoint why not.

I think it’s mostly that this one is really short and didn’t leave a lot of space to delve really into the characters story and developing relationship between Joel and Andre.
I just expected this to be more focused on the relationship, when in truth it focuses on them starting this relationship. Although now that I read the blurb after reading the book I can’t say that the blurb was misleading. It was just me interpreting things into it, and therefore having false expectations.

I still liked the book and especially the ending. Because why always have a “conventional” ending? And I can’t say I expected anything else when I started this book because it seems so obvious.

"At the end of the day, I’m a vanilla guy. Maybe with some… I don’t know, some kinky sprinkles on top or something. But definitely vanilla.”

Andre has had his eyes on Joel for quite a while, before Joel left his former Dom, Andre wanted Joel. And when Joel’s finally single and ready to meet his old friends again Andre acts fast. Although neither of them is ready to give up part of themselves they just can’t stay away from each other. I really liked both Andre and Joel, I just wish we could’ve had more time with them to get to know them a bit more.

But I can say that despite it not looking like it, Joel and Andre just fit together. One of my favourite scenes is the first time they have sex at Andre’s and how considerate and attentive he is to Joel. Taking care of him and finding a way to make Joel as comfortable as possible.

“You know what?” He finished putting on the condom. “Just to make sure I’m not hurting you, why don’t you get on top?”

Both characters know what they like and what they don’t like. And Joel is done pretending to be into BDSM, when he just.. isn’t. He did that with his last boyfriend and it didn’t end well. Sure, he likes his “kinky sprinkles” but is no way in hell going to be a submissive for anyone ever again. I really loved how Ms. Witt didn’t bend and twist either of the characters out of shape to fit in a form deemed acceptable by society. That’s all I’m going to say on that. If you’ve read the book you know what I mean, but I’m trying not to spoil the end of the book.

Overall this was an enjoyable book but sadly I didn’t fall in love with it.

Joel is a man rebuilding his life. He'd spent three years with an abusive partner, Rob, and is just now re-establishing his friendships. While out at a munch (a luncheon with members of the BDSM dungeon he'd belonged to) Joel runs into Andre, a Dom and sadist. Andre expresses an unusual degree of attention on Joel, and his best pal April parlays that into a rope-demo with Andre, a noted Shibari expert. Having no one to observe her, she pulls Joel back to the dungeon.

Joel's given up on kink. He only did it for Rob, and he's not missing beining a sub, at all. Andre may be sex on legs, but he's still a sadist. Joel knows there can't be anything long-term between them. But, does it have to be long-term? Joel could indulge in a little vanilla sexytimes with the beautiful Dom from time-to-time, right? Oh, man. These guys light the bed on fire--figuratively; Andre's not into burning his partners.

Still, it seems like they are at an impasse for anything beyond a fab hook-up. Yet, they do it again...building a bond neither anticipated. It's sexy, but it's also not enough. Joel knows he'd stifle Andre if they keep it going, and Andre wants more than vanilla all the time. They work out a deal--and it's not the typical romantic gesture.

In all, these guys each find a stable partner who respects the other's needs and boundaries. It's a big step for Joel, as he's suffered a lot from Rob; I wished we'd seen a bit of this on the page, because it was mostly glossed over. The book is a low-conflict breeze-read: short, dirty and sweet.

My Review:
This is a fairly short book. As a result, there's not a lot of space on the page devoted to delving into the details of the heroes' lives. Overall, for me, that worked just because there are times when I want a quick and dirty read...and I did enjoy what was on the page.

Joel had a bad relationship. The true details of how it all fell apart are a bit vague...there was more than a little abuse that everyone could see, but Joel himself. He just thought he was being a good sub and although he hated almost all of that, he'd been brainwashed to a certain extent. He never wants to go there again...in either the kink or that kind of relationship. But now that his ex is out of his life, he's floundering. All his friends and social life was through the kink. How does that work now that the kink is out of his life?

Andre is a Dom who was fascinated by Joel from first sight...three years ago. But Joel was taken so he never acted on it. Now's his chance, except their kinks do NOT match up, although their chemistry most certainly does.

I loved these two together. It was interesting seeing how they navigated the new levels of their relationship and negotiated how things could work between them with their very differing needs. Like I said this book isn't very long, but I thought it was a pretty satisfying read. I enjoyed it quite a bit. There's a bit of kink present, but this is really more about the relationship. It was a fun little read.

I received a complimentary copy of this book in return for an honest review.

I love so many of LA witt's stories. She's number one on my most read authors list. No author can make every reader happy every time though, it's the nature of the craft. So this one was not the story for me, exactly. It was just very, meh. I'm sure many people got all bent out of shape over the ending. I had no problem with that, although I would have liked more expectations defined between them. Mostly, it was the lack of any depth for either character and lack of an actual relationship story. To me, it was barely an HFN.

This might be a bit of a spoiler, but:
There are so many hints and remarks about how bad things were with Joel's ex. We also know it took several months to reconnect with his friends. I don't need gruesome details, but was there also physical harm? Did Joel need therapy? He was pretty casual about returning to the dungeon, even though it seemed to have bad memories for him. That all seemed pretty strange to me. There was little info for Andre, either and what we did get was pretty superficial. I ended up feeling the book was just incomplete. If we got to see the actual development of a relationship, or the results of reconciling their different kinks, or lack of kinks, I might have liked it more. If it's the first part of a serial, I could have been satisfied but I didn't see any indication.

Hmm... I'm not really sure about this one, especially for the bend for a relationship, and the vague ending. Sure it's well written as always, and I adore Lori's writing. I think this one is more like a light if kinky sprinkles of BDSM with vanilla ice cream, and some unsatisfied part in their relationship. So why bother having one? LOL.
But yeah, whatever the MCs wants, they can get it. Even they're sexually incompatible.
Hmm ...

I said it before, a narrator can make it or break it.
Michael Ferraiuolo is definitely making it...!!!

Reviewed for Rainbow Gold Reviews. A copy was provided in exchange for an honest review.

I’ll start with the cover and title. I am a fool for black and white covers. I love that the blindfolded (and sexy) man looks content with his situation and his head tilted back lets me think he is giving of himself completely to his partner. The pop of color and the title Kinky Sprinkles is so appropriate for the character Joel. A man who would only describe himself as vanilla with just a sprinkle of kink on top.

Somehow this is the second BDSM book I’ve reviewed this week and both offered such different storylines but I feel like they both painted the BDSM community in a positive light and preached the practice of safe, sane, and consensual behaviors regarding BDSM. In Kinky Sprinkles, Joel has recently removed himself from a bad relationship with a bad dom. Someone who didn’t follow the rules. I’m sure the toxic relationship was a large part of Joel not wanting to have anything to do with BDSM any longer. Deep down he knows that it wasn’t ever truly his thing anyway. Not the domination and not pain play. I kept waiting for details of what happened in Joel’s past with his ex but they weren’t given. It might have changed the tone of the story though into something darker and I don’t think that’s what the author wanted us to focus on.

Instead it is about Joel and Andre. Andre is sexy as hell, but he is a dom and a sadist. He talks about how it took him time to accept that part of itself. As someone who is not in the BDSM community, it seems from this book that a natural inclination towards dominance or submission is a lot like being gay. It isn’t something you can just turn off. Not to say that “vanilla” sex, sex without bondage or pain, can’t be enjoyed. However, denying that part of yourself for long is uncomfortable for those who are into the scene. Aside from their kink differences, the two men get along and are attracted to each other. Trying to stay apart is impossible as Andre and Joel can’t stop thinking about each other, but how can they merge their two lifestyles and both remain happy?

I really love these two men together, their exploration is sweet and their passion is scorching, so I am glad that they are willing to work with each other to keep their relationship going. Only the plan they have in place does make me want more of this story, to see if it works or if they have to revise it as it goes along. It was a very enjoyable story and it was a fairly quick read for me. I would definitely recommend it as well as any other titles by this fantastic author.

I was given a copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.

What if the man you can’t stay away from doesn’t share your kink and isn’t able to meet your needs in the playroom? This is the dilemma facing Andre when he finds himself fiercely attracted to Joel, a former sub who has left the lifestyle after a very difficult relationship.

This could be the most realistic BDSM story I can remember reading. More time is spent discussing and attempting to align personal kinks in this story than is spent describing elaborate scenes (though there are a few wonderful scenes - including some mesmerising Shibari).

The conversations about kink and partners and limits and non-monogamy aren’t nearly as monotonous or drama soaked as some I’ve encountered IRL, but the fledgling relationship between two men who are compatible in the bedroom but not in the playroom is a more honest study of the BDSM lifestyle than I’ve read before. For Andre, accepting Joel’s “no longer interested” response to the lifestyle is incredibly difficult. And Joel can’t trust Andre until he fully accepts Joel’s hard limits and stops trying to push him.

While the author gingerly courts the idea of non-monogamy, I felt that her caution was more about a fear of alienating traditional romance readers than something that felt true for either Andre or Joel. I wanted the author to be braver and fully explore the layers of complicated commitment options available within the lifestyle.

This isn’t the sexiest BDSM story I’ve read, but it is one of the most honest. Joel and Andre feel real and I loved the complexity of both men. The chemistry between them is brilliant, the sex is beyond hot and I enjoyed watching them build a fledgling trust and establish a relationship that works for them both.

Kinky Sprinkles by LA Witt
4 stars
M/M BDSM, Romance
Triggers: Abusive relationship, open relationship
I was given this book for an honest review by Wicked Reads.

Andre is an experienced Dom who is looking at his friend in a whole new light. Joel has been someone that Andre has admired since Joel and his old Dom entered the club. Now that Joel has taken stock of his life, gotten rid of his abusive Dom, Andre sees his chance - he wants to have a relationship with Joel.

Joel has lost a lot in his life. When he kicked his abusive Dom to the curb, he was embarrassed and shy to go back to the only friends he had - the ones at the club that he no longer wanted to really be a part of. But, his friend, April, pushes him to get back out there - to come back to the community of people who will not judge him.

When Andre and Joel finally figure out that they have a mutual attraction, Joel knows that kink is not something he really wants to explore again - he's had enough to last a life time. But, he also knows that he could really have a good, long relationship with Andre. Andre doesn't want to change Joel and understands what Joel needs, but he also can't deny the dominant side of himself either.

The relationship works out somewhat, because both parties are open to allowing each other to have what they need most out of their personal relationship, while seeking out what they may not receive within that relationship. Andre is able to play with others at the club, as long as Joel is aware and there is no sex involved, while Joel is OK with small bits of kink - his kinky sprinkles...

Overall, this was a sweet story where everyone wins.

I have read many books by Witt and they tend to go up and down for me. I liked the set up here right away with Joel coming out of a D/s relationship that became abusive. He is reconnecting with friends he hasn’t seen in a while and Andre is one of them. There is attraction between the two of them but this book never went further than that for me.

The story moved quickly–too quickly. At the end I was looking for more character development and depth from both characters and well as the overall story. Joel stayed with his ex for three years but was never fully invested in the lifestyle or being a submissive. Yet, it wasn’t clear why he stayed so long. It’s also mentioned that friends knew he was being abused but nobody did anything. Andre is a self declared sadistic Dom and while the attraction is there with Joel they realize they are not sexually compatible. The POV was from Joel so it was difficult to get to know Andre and they don’t spend all that much time together. Besides being attracted to each other I wasn’t feeling a relationship between these guys as I wasn’t given enough of them as a couple. The ending was then abrupt and rushed to make me believe in the relationship proposed between these two. If you read everything put out by Witt that may then be the reason to look into this one, but it wasn’t my favorite offering from this author.

****Reviewed for Prism Book Alliance®****

Kinky Sprinkles delves into the problem of personal chemistry not matching bedroom kink. I really enjoyed how Ms. Witt was able to show us two people who really liked each other and wanted to find a way to make it work.

We get a good BDSM scene, although it isn’t between our two main characters, and we get hot sex with “kinky sprinkles”, a description I loved for Joel’s kink level. Even though Andre is a big, bad, sadistic Dom, he has a light and sweet side that was perfect for abused Joel.

I thought the solution made sense and I only wish the book was longer to see how it worked in the long term. What we are left with is a very happy for now situation. However it did leave me happy so I’m good.

Definitely check this out for a quick and sexy read!

Kudos to Ms. Witt for coming up with a lovely mix of kink & vanilla...

...that suits both tastes without overwhelming either or compelling one over the other. Joel needed someone as self-confident, gorgeous, and compassionate as Andre to overcome his insecurities and feelings of inadequacy that were left over from his previously abusive relationship with an inconsiderate and sadistic a**hole who verged on being psychotic. It took a toll on Joel's heart and peace-of-mind to the point where Andre had his work cut out for him to get Joel to truly trust him. The journey was beautiful to witness, and completely from Joel's perspective, which was a nice and perfect touch to this book. She's a wonderfully gifted writer with a lovely instinct for words that convey emotions, details, and characters' feelings. Five stars.

As always I enjoyed the writing very much, LA Witt knows how to tell a story. However, just like everyone else I had problems with the ending. It felt a little out of character for Joel after everything he had been through with his ex.

If you don't mind an unconventional ending you'll probably enjoy this on. I would have liked just a little more to see how their decisions worked out for them.
