How many Omegas can say they were rescued BY a kidnapping ring before they were rescued FROM it?
Thane was an Omega with a very dark secret trying to break free from an unpleasant past when he was hired as a paralegal in the local shifter law firm.
Alpha Haldrian Christof, Drey to his friends, was one of the few local attorneys specialing in shifter law. His first attempt at claiming an Omega, a visit to the Omega auction, had ultimately failed. That didn't stop him from falling for his new paralegal, a kidnapping victim with soft blond curls and entrancing blue eyes.
When Thane's past catches up with him, will Drey be able to protect him or will his Omega be deemed unlawfully claimed?
My enjoyment of this series has just been re-established. Here, Alpha Drey got the HEA that I was expecting him to get during the last (misleading) story, and now I’m so very glad we had to wait, because Omega Thane was ten times the Omega wet-blanket Kenny was in book three.
Thane and Drey were sweet together and I particularly enjoyed the fact that their romance was somewhat of a slow-burn, with them knowing each other and working as colleagues for four months before any romantic relationship was pursued. I also liked that Thane demonstrated his smarts, clearly having a propensity for the law and its workings (as so established within the specific parameters of this A/B/O world). He was no meek and mindless Omega – I’m looking at you Kenny – and I enjoyed his character all the more for it.
The multi-narrative style is used once again here, but I feel it worked a world better this time around and actually added to my enjoyment of the story.
Now I’m off to book five to get me some promised dragon action!
I listened to the audiobook and it just didn't work for me. The narrator had this weird sentence structure and intonation that made it all sound very strange. Fortunately it was a quick listen and was over and done with quickly. As for the story, that too felt to keep my interest, the character and plot felt under developed. So in the end it's a good book to read for challenges, not so much if you are looking for a keeper.
oooh, this was a good one! Thane and Drey were great together and I loved all the legal stuff. Nicely done and I'm loving this series - it's kinda like crack (not that I've ever done crack, but what an addiction like that might be like?). Where I can't get enough and I need to go on to the next one the minute I'm finished.
This was fine. Nothing that special and it had some plot lines I really hated. This is a very short book so the author really has to think about how they're using the time they have. Up until the 40% mark, there was a huge refusal to communicate plot that I really did not like. I feel like that is just such a basic and overused plot point in romance and it's not even a good trope. It makes the people in the relationship seem childish because they won't talk to each other. I think it's fine when characters are worried to share how they how they feel about the other person because that is a scary thing to do, especially if you don't know how that person feels about you. But, if there is no communication and a person is just assuming things, even after they have shown affection, that's what I don't like.
Even though I didn't love this book, I did like all of the side characters and I would love to read Kenny and Colin's story. Of all of the couples in this book, they seemed the most interesting and I loved the little snippets we got of their background.
This book is fine and you'll probably know exactly what kind of story this is going to be from page one so if its what you're feeling at the moment, you might really enjoying. This is just above the length of a novella so it is super easy to just fly through. Like I said, I'll probably read at least one more book in this series and then I'll have to see if there are any more of the books that seem interesting to me.
We are starting to really see what the world they live in is like. One of the rescued Omegas was really a runaway not kidnapped what happens now? The love interests in this story are not jonesing to jump into the family way, anytime soon. We see different life choices and it’s refreshing. All the major players are present, joy. Because of the overlapping time line in this series they should be read in order.
I like this book much more than I did for book 3. I’m soooo happy that the series is beginning to pick up again after the third book.
There are not too many POVs in this one as in book 3. I really felt like book 3 was a bit confusing as there were sooo many POVs. This book was definitely well constructed. The story line is interesting. I really love the all macho white knight Drey. I have loved his character since book 3. The man is very kind, caring and sweet. I am afraid I can’t say the same to Thane character though. I didn’t dislike this MC but I didn’t love him either. Frankly, in book2, he attempted Rafe to consider him as his omega and when he realized that Rafe already had a mate (though unclaimed) he realized that he was wrong but he never made an effort to verbally apologize to Colby and that bothered me. Am I being over sensitive? And I also feel like Thane character was a bit too desperate for his alpha’s attention. For example, he threw temper tantrums when he scented Kenny’s scent on Drey and refused to listen to any reasonable reasons. However, I did love the storyline a lot that I was willing to see past that and I also have to admit I like Thane’s character way better from the middle of the book.
I have fallen in love with Kian’s omega auction series and I’m starting to afraid that the journey will soon end since I’m reading these books quite fast.
I'm really pleased there's going to be a series of books telling the stories of the rescued omegas. I've really enjoyed this worked setting and its nice to see it being fleshed out even more.
There's more background stuff developed in this story alongside a couple of really sweet MCs. I loved Thane's resourcefulness, Drey's kindness and compassion and I love how the characters from the previous books are still heavily involved.
Spoiler Ahead This is the first book in a new series and it was a really good book. This book is a spin-off of another series that I liked "The Omega Auction". Thane was drugged and Kidnapped by Jack after leaving his Alpha Kip because Kip decided to sell him to other Alpha's. Kip is a likes having sex with kids so in order to keep him out of jail his father thought it would be good if he had a mate only it didn't work Thane was too old so he had a beta give Thane a mating mark. Thane was saved by Clint and the others when the rescued the other Omega's and he lied and told them he didn't have a pack. Thane has been working with Drey as a paralegal when Drey gets a call telling him Thane was the missing Omega from the Black Rock pack. After getting Thane's side of the story he agreed to protect him at all cost. After going to Kenny and Colin's pack Thane gets jealous he thinks that Drey doesn't want him even after having sex with Drey he still thinks that Drey wants Kenny which was far from the truth. To me Drey was being an idiot and so was Thane because each of them didn't want to discuss their feeling for fear of moving to fast. This book had a lot of funny scenes in it and one of them being when Kip and his father go to visit Trevor and Clint's pack he touches one of the pack kids and he was bitten and he tries to sue. This was really good book Drey got in trouble for claiming Thane the way he did and it was Thane to the rescue the legal way alone with the other Alphas like Rafe who found the other men that Kip tried to pimp Thane out to. This book was well written like the other books that I have read by this author with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.
So, this is the 4th book in the series and is being set out as a *spin-off* and focuses on the rescued omegas from the auction house. I don't see how this can be classed as a spin off when it seamlessly picked up from book 3 and went onto tell Drey and Thane's story. Is it because Thane was one of the kidnap victims?
Anyway, it was nice to see Drey get his mate after the debacle in Book 3. I did struggle with Thane a little, especially when the dreaded miscommunication/toddler tantrum ensued for far too many pages! There was all types of things wrong with Kip, but the courtroom battle was entertaining - but I think they should try and go *paperless* far too many bundles of paper being passed around .....
There was a good portion of the book given over to meeting/discussions/actions from long standing characters (including their POV), so the story felt comfortable, with no big surprises. It ended on a strong HFN. Another entertaining read.
Lovely spin off of The Omega Auction series. I loved getting to see a lot more of Drey. He's already proven that he's kind, loving and always ready to help others. He impresses me with his patience toward Thane, holding back his own desires. Thane proves to be exactly who and what Drey needs. There is a bit of misunderstanding and frustration that these two need to work out, but once they do it's lovely. I liked that Thane gets to show off his brain power and rescue his Alpha. Adult read
KU This is a spinoff of the Omega Auction series and to me, it's better written. The characters and story are better than the blurb, no cliffhanger but there's one character I hope there's another book about.
Much better than the last to me. Less perspective shifting for the sake of getting a character "in". It made more sense and was more logical. I enjoyed the relationship in this one.
A few pages into this book and I could've sworn that it was going to be my favorite of the series. Unfortunately, that didn't turn out to be true due to the fastest unrequited love confession ever and too few pages. I wanted Drey and Thane to dance around each other a little more. I wanted a sweet, slow-burn romance out in seclusion and then when they came back to the real world after realizing how much they love each other, shit gets real and they have to prove it. If I could have another 100 pages before all of the court shenanigans, I would have loved this book so much more.
As it stands, though, I still really loved Drey. He was resourceful and witty, extremely loyal, and willing to do anything to save the man he loves. Thane was just like him in some of those aspects, and I appreciated that his immediate focus was on trying to get a job and support himself instead of bending to the will of any and every alpha that came near him.
All in all, this was a pretty good book. My second favorite of the series. I quite enjoyed all of the lawyer talk.
I think the Author must be a lawyer... I got stuck with legal terms. And half of the plot twists were connected with some dramatic legal proceedings.
Drey and Thane were sweet and... naughty together, but that's all I liked about this book.
Off to book 6, Music to His Ears, which is the last one of this series that I found already stored on my laptop... I won't be buying more, so that's it for me with the Omega Auction Chronicles...
The author did another good story. I like how the characters intertwine with one another. Hoping to fine the remaining books as enjoyable as the first ones.
Still some minor errors with grammar and sentence structure; nothing a little closer editing could do, but if you can overlook that it will be alright.
This is a wonderful addition to this Alpha and Omega world. Thane is one of the last Omegas taken in the initial series. He was actually running from a pervy Alpha when he was taken, so his fate was pretty fortunate the way it all went down. He wanted to work and the Alpha of the pack was fine with that so he worked for Drey, a lawyer. It's always frustrating when two people like each other but don't talk about their feelings. This goes on for a while. I did enjoy the cleverness of Drey and Thane though and how they dealt with the first alpha.
This first book in a "new series" continues with characters from the authors' 3-part "Omega Auction" series. Each focuses on a new couple and can be read as a standalone, although reading them in order provides a nice introduction to previous characters/couples that play roles in later books.
After reading a fourth book in this setting, this series of Alpha/Omega mpreg shifter stories is growing on me. Each individual book strikes me as nothing particularly overwhelming (2.5 to 3 stars each), but put all together they actually provided an enjoyable, knotty time. The rating on this entry reflects my enjoyment of a package of quick, sweet, mpreg stories. (They are "free" to me as part of KindleUnlimited, so I might feel differently if I had to pay for each one separately.) I especially liked the variety in the series so far, from a straightforward sweet rescue, a biker-gang type of feel, a political/pack/arranged marriage plot, and a legal/abuse-focused plot. This is a pretty decent range for short, simple, Alpha/Omega shifter mpreg stories.
This particular title is another quick read that builds on characters from the previous Omega Auction series. There is plenty of Alpha posturing and Omega danger, this time with more of a law and legal focus. Of course, there is also plenty of Alpha/Omega smut, yielding an escapist, heated read with a simple yet entertaining story.
Rating 3.5 rounded up. I love the idea of following up on the omegas rescued in the second book! I'm glad they started with Thane since he had a bit of a cameo in that book. Thane and Drey were very easy characters to like, even if there wasn't much character development. There is plenty of the Alpha/Omega dynamic like scenting, omega submissive behavior, and the ways an Alpha can soothe an omega through touch or scent. As in Rhodes's other books there is plenty of HOT sex. I enjoyed seeing our friends from the other books and I am soooo ready for Trevor to have those twins. This was not technically mpreg since our main character isn't pregnant but we do get a touch of it with other pregnant characters (Trevor and Colby). The race and legal maneuvering to free Thane was quite dramatic and the court scenes were great. These are always strong books about justice being done and right triumphing in a big way. All in all a feel-good and sexy read. Can't wait for the next one!
I was so happy Drew got his own omega, what a sweet and caring person he is !! Yes this was first in this new series but a spin off of the omega auction. I LOVED it because we still got to read and interact with the previous characters who we also fell in love with. ;-)
First book in the Omega Rescue Series, but fourth book of Omega Auction Chronicles and I loved it as much as the first one.
We meet Drew in the previous book when he saved Kenny at the auction and then do everything to bring him back to Colin.
Thane is one of the Omega rescued by Clint, Colt, and Rafe. When offered the possibility to find an Alpha or to get a job, Thane choses the second and starts working with Drew.
When the past comes back and Thane is risking being forced back to his previous Alpha Kip, Drew and the others do their best to keep that from happening. When things go south Drew jumps in to save the situation putting his own life a risk.
I love Drew with his chevalier attitude, his need to make things better, and his willingness to put his life on the line for the safety of someone else. He is a beautiful soul. And I love Thane as much because he recognises Drew’s value and he’s willing to fight for him.
These two characters are amazingly defined and pull the reader into the story because of their kindness and need to be loved. Also, because you want for them to have a happy ever after of their own.
Like most of the series I enjoyed this book as a mindless distraction. I loved that Drey finally got his own omega. I loved him in The Mating Game and the way he helped to support Kenny. He was pretty sweet for being an Alpha. I wasn't real crazy about Thane and Drey misunderstand and miscommunication when they first got together. It was ridiculous that Thane thought Kenny and Drey were screwing around or for Drey to think Thane wasn't into him. I enjoyed the ending most of all where Kip get what is coming to him
Standard Omegaverse short novel. Sweet, sensitive, abused Omega meets Alpha of his dreams, they fumble towards a relationship.
Irks: The otherwise progressive, loyal, protective Alpha muses that another unclaimed Omega will find it difficult to find an Alpha to claim him because...he stutters. As if, in world of genetically determined D/s, male pregnancy, pheromones, and self-lubricating buttholes, stuttering is a complete no-go.
I didn't go into this with a lot of hope. I don't tend to enjoy the majority of omega stories. They just don't seem believable as individuals to me. This story, however, was very well done. Keeping within the constraints of the lore for omegas, we have an individual with self-determination. I found Thane to be charismatic and engaging. I'm now going to read the rest of the series to see if the author can keep up with this kind of nuanced character.
It's okay. The premise is interesting but the plot is shallow and spotty. It reads like porn with plot. The Omega MC was annoying, the Alpha was a weak sap. The romance was so instant it was startling. It went from colleagues to 'I Love you Baby,' 'I'm yours forever' in a day. Also, I get the Omega is is submissive but they are written with the bad stereotypes of weak females. It's annoying.
I was so glad to see that Thane and Drey get their chance. Thane has had to face so much more than we had even realized. Drey is such a wonderful caring man and always seem to be willing to put others first. I like how we get to see how resourceful and smart Thane is. Together they have a chance of a wonderful life working together to make it an even better world.
