Alice needs the financial security her enemy is providing, but soon their every clash is a shockingly tempting encounter. I grew up on a small farm on the outskirts of Sydney and as a keen horse rider, often competed in local gymkhanas and even broke in a few horses from time to time. As I was surrounded by animals, I decided at an early age to become a nurse, however I couldn’t stand the sight of blood and so opted for a career in teaching. It’s a bit ironic that I married a surgeon.
I read my first Mills & Boon novel when I was 17 and that encouraged me to continue reading romance novels; the lure of the tall dark handsome hero, who in reality I fell in love with and knew I was going to marry on our second date! After marrying a year later, we moved to Scotland with our six week old baby so my husband could work and study for his MD in surgery. After the birth of our second son we came back to Australia to settle in Tasmania.
I went back to University and up-graded my teaching diploma to a degree and then went on to do a Masters but still I felt as if something was missing. I sat down one day and began writing and everything clicked into place - I had finally found ‘my brilliant career’! I used to write from instinct rather than a specific plan, but now, so many books later I find a loose plan doesn't go astray. An idea will pop into my head, sometimes it will be just a simple phrase or a what if question and I'm away.
Writing is a skill that can be learned and the best way to learn it is to read and to write. So many people feel they have a novel in them and very probably they are right-the only trick is to get it out. My advice to ‘would be’ writers is to write, write, and write even more. Carry a notebook at all times and jot down ideas. And like any other activity the more you do, the more it feels comfortable.
I hope you enjoy my stories and look forward to hearing from you.
Seven years ago, the 21 year-old heroine rejected hero's marriage proposal seven year because: 1) he asked her in a restaurant 2) she didn't like the ring 3) he was presuming too much after six months of exclusive dating 4) he was standing in her way of a career owning a nail and facial salon 5) he wanted children and she didn't 6) he said I love you.
She left Italy by plane that very day and never spoke to him again.
Now, seven years later, the hero's grandmother has willed half of her villa to the heroine if they marry for six months. Hero wants to keep the villa in his family and something about shares - I don't know, it was too ridiculous.
Heroine only agrees to a sexless marriage of convenience after he buys the building where her London salon is located.
They have sex within minutes of agreeing to the sexless MOC and - I don't know, it was too ridiculous.
They deserve each other. The hero for pining for this shrew for seven years and the heroine for blaming the hero for being a good guy then and a good guy now. I didn't get her at all.
Neither were celibate during their separation and - I don't know, they were both ridiculous and I didn't care either way.
What a sizzling sensual story this one is, a real page turner a second chance romance for hero the gorgeous wealthy hotelier Cristiano Marchetti and beautiful beauty therapist Alice Piper but as is the way true love never runs smoothly and Cristiano and Alice have a few things to work through after Cristiano’s grandmother’s will is read and the contents bring them back together.
Alice had a whirlwind affair with Cristiano seven years ago and has never felt the same about another man since but she was young then and still had a lot of growing up to do and after her childhood, marriage and families was something she did not want she wanted to run her own business and be comfortable but now with the chance of financial security and spending six months with Cristiano can she do this without losing her heart.
Cristiano had lost his family when he was young and was bought up by his loving grandparents so when he met Alice seven years ago he thought he was in love and she would make him happy you see he wanted family again but she hurt him and walked out and now with his grandmother’s will he has a chance to get back at her but can he keep his feelings and emotions intact.
This is another fabulous story by MS Milburne she really knows how to pull at your heart strings and make the characters so engaging that you do not want to put the book down I loved this one so moving and so very sensual what a story yes this one ticks the boxes for a read that is not forgettable. I highly recommend this one.
4 stars, much better than the last MM I read, which was actually the book published after this one.
The main characters had a whirlwind romance 7 years prior when she was 21 and he was 27. Thinking he'd found the "perfect" wife, he proposed. Alice said no - relationship over. Cristiano and Alice meet again when Alice is unexpectedly a beneficiary in his grandmother's will. Alas, there's never a will in a Harlequin without conditions, is there? To claim her unexpected windfall, she has to marry Cristiano and remain married to him for six months.
Good to see realism in some books. They were apart for 7 years, certainly not expecting to reunite. Why would they not look elsewhere? To the hero, Cristiano, Alice was "the one" who got away. Alice believes she has it all, a thriving business, big house, lots of friends but nobody to come home to at night. Sizzling romance & great character dialogue. Would read again.
Melanie Milburne knows how to write romance that practically sizzles off the pages. The Temporary Mrs Marchetti is a second chance romance. Cristiano and Alice were once lovers until a unwanted proposal changed everything. When Cristiano's grandmother states in her will. That they must both marry each other, in order to inherit shares in Cristiano's family villa. He sees this as the perfect opportunity to get back at Alice for breaking his heart all those years ago. The chemistry between them is off the charts and its pretty clear its more than hormones at play. Can they work through age old issues to find the path to true love? I recommend this to all romance lovers, especially those that second chance love.
I really enjoy the rare category romance that is in conversation with ye category romances of bygone days, and this is definitely one of those. It's a second-chance romance, but it begins seven years after the stereotypical category ends: Cristiano and Alice had a whirlwind romance in Italy seven years ago. She was a twenty-one-year-old virginal backpacker, he was an emotionally withholding scion of an Italian corporate dynasty who had been traumatized by the early death of his parents and older brother. She broke down his walls, he proposed in a restaurant - and Alice, horrified, turned him down and stormed out. As they rebuild their romance (thanks to a provision in his grandmother's will, which Milburne thankfully pays as little attention to as possible) Alice addresses how young and inflexible she was at twenty-one - and Cristiano addresses how desperate he was to slot Alice into his vision of a picture-perfect family as a way of avoiding acknowledging his own emotional needs. (She's now a successful career woman, but at the time of his proposal he assumed she would immediately become a stay-at-home mother to their future children, which they would produce ASAP. Then he would feel happy and emotionally secure, right?) It's good stuff, but it's definitely different from your usual HP.

Melanie Milburne is a talented writer who pushes the romance boundaries and comes up with original and innovative storylines/premise so often I find I either love her books or not! I'm giving it 4 stars because though I found the story premise based around the hero's grandmother's will a bit too dodgy and mercenary for my liking, I was interested to see how the romance developed. Then again while reading it, I found the heroine irritating, and a tad too demanding.
Generally if you like lots of angst, conflict and tension between characters then this is the book for you. If you don't mind the heroine & hero asking about each other's previous sex life (during the seven year break) while they are being intimate or making out then this is the book for you. I found that a wee bit off-putting...but it does tank up the angst.
So overall it's an interesting story, but not too everyone's taste. I enjoyed parts of it and disliked others so do read other reviews for a balanced view.
The Temporary Mrs. Marchetti by Melanie Milburne grabs you from page one and doesn't let go. Genuinely entertaining, fast-paced and deliciously good, you can't go wrong with this story! When Cristiano Marchetti proposes to Alice Piper he has his own intentions. He is hell-bent on exacting revenge on Alice for walking out on him years ago. But when his intentions start to unravel and he cannot keep Alice out of his thoughts, Cristiano must rethink his options. Alice on the other hand has her doubts about marriage and that is why she walked away from Cristiano. But now Cristiano is back and with an outrageous proposal and saying yes might seem innocent...except the drama which unfolds will change them forever!
3.5 Stars - The rules of engagement... When Cristiano Marchetti proposes to former mistress (beauty spa owner) Alice Piper, the deal has an expiry date. He has six months to fulfil the conditions of his grandmother's will. But the (hotelier) has another agenda...exacting revenge on Alice for daring to walk away seven years before! Alice needs the financial security her enemy is providing to expand her business, but soon their every clash is a shockingly tempting encounter. Easy, fun, delicious read. I love a second chance romance. Cristiano(love this name) is arrogant, rich, handsome which to me = swoon worthy. Alice is independent, feisty and maybe a little stubborn. Loved them together!
In their mind, the main characters, male and female actually are quite similar, but they don’t know it. And of course, that would be no story if they actually spoke to each other in a meaningful way.
The Temporary Mrs. Marchetti by Melanie Milburne Christiano Marchetti proposed to his former mistress Alice Piper, but that deal had an expiry date. He has 6 months to fulfill the conditions under his grandmother’s will. The two of them spent years together before they broke up and Alice walked out on his proposal 7 years ago, as she does not believe in marriage after seeing her mother’s three marriages. The offer of money will help her and so she accepts his proposal now. Melanie Milburne has a way with words that you will want to keep turning to the next page and to find out what happens next. She tugs at heart strings in her books and this is yet another one of them. I highly recommend her books. Wishing I could give her more than the 5 stars available. Alice had been through a lot in her young years and she had a lot of growing up to do and with a childhood marred with multiple fathers due to the marriages this was something that when they were together before that she could not envision for her. Cristiano had lost his parents when he was young and was brought up by his grandparents and so this made keeping his grandmother’s will possible was even more important to him.
Christiano Marchetti is back seven years on with another proposal for Alice Piper. Seven years trying to mend a heart left shattered. Once again left without.
Alice might be in the business of getting brides to look beautiful for their day, but she has zero interest in a wedding of her own. She turned down Christiano seven years before, but now she does not know if she can really leave her heart behind.
This time thru, Alice listens to Christiano and really hears how his life was after the loss of his parents and older brother. Always being left behind. And Christiano finds out about the many men Alice's mother had been with. Her mom's constant quest for Mister Right.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The story really flowed and was well written. I liked both characters, even though the h seemed to be a bit immature in her earlier years. Both of them showed growth in their characters, and eventually saw the error in their ways. Will definitely read again.
I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT. This author, Melanie Milburne, with her story" The Temporary Mrs Marchetti," was a delight. It was witty, and I enjoyed the light banter between Alice and Cristiano. The engaging chemistry between these two shots sparks off the pages and almost had me melting........ Thanks Melanie Milburne for fun filled , loving romance that tugged at my heart strings. It had me reading every word..
Alice and Cristiano rekindle their love years later, or was it love. Cristiano parents and brother unexpectedly died from a tragic accident that left him devastated. His Nonna left him everything a person could ever want. Under one stipulation ,he has to marry in one month and it has to last at least six months. But, little does he know his Nonna had plans for him. Will there love their survive.
I absolutely Enjoyed reading this book and would be happy to tell anyone about it. It is a great read and I would definitely recommend any she has such as ;" Scandal: unclaimed love child" or "One last night. ". You won't be disappointed.
Young romance turned lifetime story. Grandma dies, and both Alice and Cristiano are set to inherit her home in italy. Alice refuses at first, given the conditions “marry a month after engagement, and stay married for at least 6 months”. She can do it, right? But what happens when she realizes that her goals in life have changes, kids, family, a home? But now it’s Cristiano’s turn to want to be successfull in life.
When they were younger, he had asked her to marry him, but she refused him in a restaurant. In the end, grandma was right - but aren’t they always? Their short romance was meant for something more, and when they both got their heads out of the sand and realized that what they wanted had been in front of them the entire time, they went all in.

A second chance at love story that Ms. Milburne has aced. Alice and Christiano were together for years before their breakup. To Christiano the past is the past, except according to his grandmothers will he must marry Alice Piper to keep his family home. So its an easy plan for him he wants what he wants and will do whatever need be to get it. Except Alice walked out on his proposal 7 years ago as she doesn't believe in marriage watching her mothers three, but the offer of money will help her. What transpires between these two is a wonderful story of two strong people forced to be together and finding that maybe they were both wrong in the past. She agrees to be his wife for six months, figures that would be easy except the heart has no knowledge of what temporary means, and she starts to fall in love all over again. A truly lovely romance that will make your day.
"The Temporary Mrs. Marchetti" by Melanie Milburne was an amazing book. Christiano Marchetti and Alice Piper have a steamy history together. Seven year ago she walked out of his life, but things don't always go the way they're planned. When Christiano's Grandmother passes away her will stipulates that he must be married to keep the estate in the family. Christiano offers Alice a short term marriage in exchange for money that she needs. The fireworks between these two are HOT, and Alice finds herself falling hard for her husband.
THE TEMPORARY MRS MARCHETTI by author Melanie Milburne is a March 2017 release by Harlequin Presents series.
Cristiano Marchetti asked his former girlfriend Alice Piper to pretend to be engaged to him so he can fulfil his grandmother’s will condition. But will they be able to deny their attraction to each other? What happens when their time is up? Could Alice walk away once again from Cristiano?
The Temporary Mrs Marchetti is a sizzling romance with mesmerizing emotions. Author Melanie Milburne once again astounds her readers with this truly stunning, heart-felt story.
Alice Piper never expected to see Cristiano Marchetti again after she left him abruptly standing in a restaurant. Seven years on and he is back in her life. Only to fulfil the requirements of his Grandmothers will. They must marry if he is to keep his family property and control of the shares in the company.
At times there are fireworks between Alice and Cristiano. Bother are stubborn and sure of what they want for their future and that does not include each other. Will Alice really walk down the aisle and will it be the real thing or just to fulfil the requirements of the will?
A really great reunion story! The characters had a deep connection filled with steamy passion as well as an argumentative heat that made scenes between them really attention getting. I enjoyed them!
When hotelier Christiano Marchetti is handed the opportunity to exact revenge on his former lover who walked out on him seven years ago, he jumps at the chance. He has never been able to get her out of his mind, and now with a method of forcing her to marry him ... temporarily ... at his disposal, he is relishing the thought of revenge!
Alice Piper could definitely use the money she's being offered for this short marriage to Christiano, but it goes against all that she's ever believed in. Can she really bring herself to do it? And as they spend time together and she starts to see the man she never took the time to get to know all those years ago, she wonders if she made a grave mistake in walking out on his love back then. Can she convince him to make the marriage a real one?
The Temporary Mrs. Marchetti by Melanie Milburne shows how to people can be perfect for each other and yet let their fears and insecurities break them apart. Fortunately, Christiano Marchetti’s grandmother is smarter than he is and she had a plan! When Christiano’s grandmother passed away he discovered a clause in her will that states he is to marry the woman who broke his heart, Alice Piper, unless he wants to lose half his family home.
Alice Piper does not believe in marriage, not after watching her mother go through three of them, so she walked away from Christiano’s proposal seven years ago. When he lets her go without trying to stop her, she believes that he never loved her in the first place and that she made the right decision. When he walks back into her life after seven years apart she agrees to be his temporary wife for six months, but she falls in love with him all over again and this time she will do anything to make it permanent.
A truly enjoyable book! I recommend it to any romance lover.
Seven years ago Cristiano Marchetti proposed to Alice Piper only to have her reject his proposal. But now, he needs her to accept his proposal due to a clause in his grandmother’s will, otherwise he could lose mostly everything near and dear to his heart. Can he convince Alice to give him a chance without letting his bitterness from her rejection years ago get in the way? Read More
Another Melanie Milburne winner! Christiano's grandmother dies and stipulates something in her will which causes the reunion of himself and Alice, an ex girlfriend.
Having an awful break up in the past didn't help the situation and it's tension city when both parties are reunited. The path to true love isn't smooth at all and it makes for the best read.
World wide destinations, passionate characters and Rollercoaster emotions equal a satisfying read which I've actually read twice now.
