Marina Wake has spent her life trying to heal manatees. Her small recovery centre works to patch up the beasts damaged by human machines. The problem is facilities need money.
Irdan wants to meet the woman that the seers and her father have told him about. When he gets her agreement to the Crossroads, they rush into the balancing and have to deal with the aftermath.
Marina trades herself for financing the rescue centre for a decade, and when she has been balanced with Irdan, her evolution into a partial fey takes a weird turn that neither of them expected.
Zenina Masters was born in Canada and lives in Canada. She has a regular job and does nothing particularly exciting with her life. She enjoys fishing, silence and the ability to pick and choose friends she can trust. Life is too short to watch your back all the time.
Her writing life is a teeny bit of escapism, she would probably chicken out if confronted by three naked men and looks forward to one day finding out.
This water based shifter arc is so good. In the latest one, we have a manatee shifter. Woohoo! I love manatees. Marina is not only a manatee ahifter, she is a marine biologist who works to save those damaged by boats. I have see the damage done by boats and it is horrendous. Ms. Masters does another excellent job with her blending of realism and fantasy.
Marina is special because she is not exactly a human but not all shifter. Her past very much dictates what she decided to do with her life. I am impressed. Her cause is good and she is absolute fierce in her dedication. When Irdan plunges her life and makes huge waves, she goes with the flow for a bit. Then she pulls back and finds her safe harbor. What is missing in th is story is more interaction with her father. It is clear there is more story to there past. It is hinted at and quickly stated instead of shown. Although this could be because the focus is on Marina and Irdan's super fast wedding.
I enjoyed the metamorphosis of Marina to her powerful water guardian state. It is striking and so satisfying. I only wish I could be the same. This short paranormal romance is recommended for readers who enjoy water shifters with a mythological twist.
This one was a bit of a switch, in that there was only the shortest little blip of taking place at the Crossroads. I enjoyed the newest catagory, beast-born, and I really wish there had been illustrations to go along with some of the changes the heroine goes through. Still really enjoying this guilty pleasure.
Way too short for the price. Why did the author raise the price when she didn't increase the length?
The romance happened too abruptly. There was no initial attraction, no buildup. I liked the characters aside from that and I liked the premise of the story. Too bad she spent so little time on the male protagonist that's he's like a one-dimensional shadow in the book.
This was so so great I Loved it and I can't wait to go back and read the whole series again ...And I can not wait for the next book in this series too .....
Wonderful story, I enjoyed it thoroughly... a great way to bring about public awareness. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a love of nature, fey, and the crossroads
It was a good read. I would have rated it higher if the issue between marina and her father was resolved. It was left unresolved even though their problems came from no communication leading to misunderstanding.
