C'est l'Halloween! Marie est-elle assez grande pour se d?guiser en momie et participer au spectacle de danse qu'offre sa famille chaque ann?e?
It's party time! Mae is finally old enough to join her family's dance team at the Halloween bash. This year, they are doing a dance routine while dressed as mummies. Mae tries her best to make scary sounds and drag her feet just like a mummy's, but she's just too small. Will she be able to take part in the dance?
My thoughts} – A sweet Halloween themed book about a little mummy that doesn’t feel good enough to join in her families traditional Halloween dance. The words within the pages match up nicely with the incredible illustrations.
Mae goes from family member to family member trying to get better at the dance. Eventually she gets frustrated and goes for a walk. While she’s out walking she meets a young witch that is also having similar problems.
The two become fast friends and do their own special thing at the Halloween party.
I recommend this book for any young child that feels lost and is just trying to find their place. Sometimes it’s easier to try and do the same thing that everyone else is doing, but more often then not its better if you do your own thing, because in the end it will help to make you much happier. And that’s what Mae had learned throughout the pages of the book.
Dougherty’s words are sufficient and Todd’s illustrations are very nice, but they don’t really add up to an above average kids book. I chose to do this story for Reading Time because it did have a narrative arc that taught something of value, but even that was a bit muddied. Are Mae’s and Wilma’s tiny-ness what are of value in the end, or their idea to save the Halloween festival for its lack of planning that make them notable? Even so, for the Halloween books available to me to perform, this one stood out. I do wish it had been available in a larger hardback though. As the story and packaging suggest, this book and the rest of the “littlest” series just exists as a cheap cashgrab (one that I admittedly bought into).
The Little Mummy is all about a little girl named Mae whose is part of a family of mummies and this year she would able to join her family dance team for the Halloween bash except Mae runs into all sorts of problems learning the dance and realizes she just too little to dance with her family. Mae meets a little Witch named Wilma who also is too little to participate in the broom flying demonstration so they become friends. These two little pals save the Halloween Bash with a fun party game. Nothing scary about this book and the illustrations are too cute.
Super sweet little book about a little mummy trying to fit in with the "scary" halloween holiday. I really liked the fact the main character was a child of color. The story is really cute and heart-warming.
I really enjoyed reading this story. It was so cute and I think the illustrations went very well with the story. It was such a cute Halloween story for students to read.
