After two of her brothers are killed in battle with the relentless alien menace that threatens the entire Interstellar Coalition, Sarah Mills volunteers to join the fight in an effort to bring home her last surviving brother. When she is mistakenly processed as a bride rather than a soldier, however, she rejects the match. But her mate has other ideas…
Dax is an Atlan warlord, and like all the men of his race, a primal beast lurks within him, ready to emerge in the fury of battle or the heat of the mating fever. When he learns that his bride has chosen to fight on the front lines rather than share his bed, he sets out to track her down and take what the beast demands.
Sarah is none too pleased when a massive brute claiming to be her mate arrives suddenly in the midst of a battle, and her displeasure turns to fury when Dax’s presence disrupts her mission and leads to the capture of her brother. But after her commanding officer refuses to authorize a rescue mission, Sarah’s best hope of saving the only family she has left is to accept Dax’s offer to help, even if that means giving herself to him in return.
Though he is thrilled to have located his wayward bride, Dax quickly discovers that Sarah is nothing like the meek, submissive women of his world. If he wants her, he will have to tame her, with a firm hand applied to her bare bottom if necessary. But Dax doesn’t just want Sarah, he needs her. Can she satisfy the fearsome beast within him before he loses control completely?
Publisher’s Note: Mated to the Beast is a stand-alone book set in the same world as Assigned a Mate, Mated to the Warriors, Claimed by Her Mates, and Taken by Her Mates. It is an erotic romance novel that includes spankings, sexual scenes, elements of BDSM, and more. If such material offends you, please don’t buy this book.
This was a decent read. There wasn't anything in particular wrong with it, it just didn't especially excite me either.
I know I complain about these alien books if they have no plot, but now I'm also going to complain because I had to wait til past the 60% mark for some penis poking because of the plot. You can't win either way with me.
Sometimes I get the strange urge to read a Grace Goodwin book, but then it immediately feels like I‘m actively losing brain cells while reading, so if I ever get the urge again, stop me lol
Nope. No man gets to decide how strong I am or am not. No man gets to order me to feel or behave in a certain way. No man gets to spank me in punishment for not acting like he thinks I should. No woman should ever submit to this kind of treatment, no matter how f--- sexy he is. Fight girl!
3.5⭐️ Planet: Atlan. THIS TIME we open with a modulation of a sex session conducted by …Not Warden Egara, which explains why it went terribly askew. 😫 Anyway, I really like that many of the FMC in this series are independent. I fw Sarah the whole way. I get that her personality was conditioned onto her but I like how badass she was. I also get wanting to be in her soft girl era. The plot in this was pretty cool for a novella. Following the storyline was simple and I was excited for what was next. I think Atlan aliens are my favorite so far, although I can do without the initial bit of casual misogyny at the start by Dax. The line between “I must make sure I take care of my female and my female is taking care of herself” and “you’ll do what I say because I am big male, you are small female” was ground into a fine dust in this book but eventually he pulled it together. Hopefully the Atlans to come won’t take so long to be decent. Anyway, this was fun and I look forward to the next hive battle. I’m continuing this series because I really like the simplistic world building and watching the cast of characters shenan and then shenanigan.
The story line with these books is getting dull and repetitive. Girl is in Interstellar Bride Program, Girl doesn’t want understand her desires, men dominate her and they all live happily ever after. But, let’s face it. We aren’t reading these books for the plot …the sex is steamy hot but it seems all of the “other worlds” have the same bonding/mating ritual. It’s getting boring.
E vissero insieme felici e contenti facendo sesso h24. Stop. Non c’è altro. Passiamo oltre dai.
I liked premise of the match in this one. She was a warrior in her own right, fighting on the front lines with her brother. However, when she first went to join they mistakenly processed her in the bride program. Once the mistake was discovered she was transferred to the military. Only problem, they didn't erase her profile. Then when her beast was tested and mated with her, he went to claim her.... which was full of fireworks.
This was an awesome book. It had raw feelings and great sex scenes. Dax is all Alpha Dominant male. The author, Grace, KNOWS what a true Dome is because Dax just screams Dominant Alpha Male. He is very very stubborn. He at first insists even to his superior he is fine until he is forced to find a mate. Once he finds Sarah though, all bets are off! Due to an accident, her brother gets kidnapped by the Hive, and she makes a deal with the devil (as handsome, hot, sexy, and how devastating he kisses too) to save her brother. Dax is honorable enough not to even attempt to rape her or blackmail Sarah into his bed. Instead, no matter how much he needs her or how bad his "mating fever" gets, he ALWAYS makes sure she is with him 200% and accepts him. Sarah has grown up hard and has never been able to lean on anyone, so for her to lean on Dax, as a male and as her mate is extremely difficult for her. I felt so bad for her but she is very strong and courageous and she never backs down from what she believes is right and fights for everything she believes in. I loved this author and will DEFINITELY continue to read more of her books.
When Atlan Warlord Dax is thrown into his beast mating fever- because he ignored the signs, he's sent to his erroneously bride tested and assigned, human warrior mate, Captain Sarah Mills. Unfortunately she and her brother and their teams are in the middle of a Hive battle that he's upset resulting in her brother being taken by the Hive and men killed. All ends well and the sex is hot, but I found Sarah to be a better officer than Dax. Because of his fevered hot headedness good men were killed and they're barely mentioned. If he knew of her wound he wouldn't have let her finish getting everyone to safety without interfering. He's a big blustering caveman compared to her strength, loyalty, and intelligence. It also needed a longer epilogue with specific details of their future lives together. We're only told what might happen. This is just a 3.5 star book.
More of the same. I read this type of book for the story and skip over the sex. The story here was kind of stale. I doubt I'll read any more of these books. Dominant males don't really appeal to me.
Grace Goodwin has ruined me for all other alien romance novels. Correction… she has ruined me for ALL romance novels. After reading her material, I find the others to be tame, dull and overall anticlimactic. I am not ashamed to admit that I have read each of her books at least twice.
The Interstellar Brides series takes place at a time where aliens are real and there are several different planets and species. There is a galactic enemy known as the hive, which is a technological species that invades planets and either kills its inhabitants or transforms their captives into one of them. A coalition was formed between the planets who are at war with the hive. Each member of the coalition is required to supply soldiers and brides to the cause. Soldiers to fight the hive, and brides to repopulate the diminished that have fallen victim to the war. There is a neurological test that a bride takes to me matched to their perfect alien planet, then their perfect alien match on that planet, through a series of sexual desires that only our subconscious can answer for. Earth allows for volunteers to apply to the program, or grants female criminals the option to become a bride over a prison sentence. Those who volunteer are paid a healthy sum of money, and those who are prisoners are given clean slates. All applicants are required to give up their Earth citizenship to become a resident of their new chosen planet. A bride has 30 days to accept or reject their match. If they accept their claim, they are mated to their new alien husband for the rest of their lives where they are expected to make babies. If they reject their mate, they are assigned a new one on that same planet. Where they are still expected to make babies. Warden Egara makes continued appearances throughout the series as she is the one who processes the brides on Earth. (After being caught up with all of Grace Goodwin’s spin-offs, I am still waiting for the warden to find her happily ever after. Hint, hint, Grace.)
Written in first person, Mated to the Beast is book 5 in this series and follows the human bride Sarah Mills and her alien mate Warlord Dax from the planet Atlan. There was a mix-up during Sarah’s intake. She arrived at the processing center to volunteer as a soldier but somehow wound up in the bride processing instead. She was almost complete with her test and about to be matched when they discovered the mixup. It was corrected and she was sent to the frontline to fight. Unfortunately, the center forgot to remove her profile from the system. So when Dax was tested months later for a bride because he was on the verge of mating fever and turning berserker beast, and he didn’t have time to go home and court a woman, he was matched to Sarah. The protocols didn’t allow for him to select another bride, so he had no choice but to go to battleship Karter and collect his mate. Unfortunately, he was transported into the middle of an active hive mission and Sarah’s brother got captured by the hive. She agreed to be the warlord’s mate on the condition that he help her rescue her brother from the hive. They do rescue Seth Mills, along the several other captives, and move to a palace on Atlan to live happily ever after.
Atlans are humanoid. What sets them apart from everyone else is their massive size (they’re larger than humans and all other aliens), and they have a split personality of sorts that they refer to as their “beast.” Their beast lives inside them, very much with its own personality, and only comes out during danger or mating fever. When the beast comes out to play, they grow bigger - with elongated fangs, sharp facial features and bulging muscles - and their main personality takes a backseat behind the scenes.
There have been way too many romance novels I’ve read that had me frustrated and yelling “Jesus Christ, when are they gonna fuck?! Get to the good shit already!” When we’re 50% in, and the main characters have barely kissed each other, leaves readers like me aggravated. This is not one of those books. The very first chapter gives a very clear indication of what we are in for. I’m fairly confident that there is more sexual content in this book than adventure. It is, quite literally, word porn.
The first few books in this series were a little too hardcore for my tastes. Which is saying a lot because I am far from a prude and consider myself a person with a healthy and active sex life. Filled with bondage and S&M, the consent line was a little blurry in some cases. This is the first book in the series where the writing gets a little tamer with a much clearer line of consent, making the books even more enjoyable. The Atlans are probably my favorite among the alien species because of their primal instincts to protect their mate. They don’t share her with other men (except their beast) and they are faithful to the end. My favorite word in this book? “Mine!”
As we read through this series and all it’s spin offs, I can attest that the plot is incredibly addictive. I am way too invested in each book, in all its adventure and romance.
This is book #5. I (consciously) skipped 2, 3 and 4 because they were all threesomes with some boring plots I had no interest in what-so-ever. The first book in the series didn't really motivate anything more. Sadly this book's plot was actually interesting, it was a good idea, that could've been better developed, but again, the plot was the least important thing for the author, taking 3rd place behind the sex and the insta-love/sexual attraction between the characters.
Dax, the main male character is boring. He goes through a little "growth" during the book which basically means accepting his partners abilities and priorities, but in the end all of this is pointless because he gets everything he wanted in his "submissive" partner in the end.
Sarah, the main female character started out strong, with a strong conviction, desire and will. I actually liked her for the first couple chapters, until the insta-attraction played it's part and she started acting like a cat in heat whenever Dax was in the picture or on her mind. She has a bit of growth during the book, particularly at the end of the story, which sadly is also made pointless when she changes her apparent strong conviction, desire and will, to become the submissive partner Dax needs/wants, while saying it's exactly what she needs. This clashes with the apparent personality she had, clashes with her attitude and plans in a way that contradicts her personality and makes all her poor choices even more reckless, to even stupid.
Both characters make hasty decisions that put in a real-life situation would've gotten them killed or stranded or court martialed, I'm sure. While some aspects of the technicalities regarding soldiers in space could be worked around, the author gives an idea of the limits and chain of command that leaves very little space for the whole lot of shenanigans they pulled off. I'm not sure the whole thing was well thought through. Also, some aspects of how it was written makes it look like they only survive and succeed out of sheer luck, not really ability or disposition but just luck, thanks to the fairy god-author. The ending of the book is also lacking. there are clear issues between what Dax's plans for the future are and Sarah's and it's frustrating to see Sarah's be disregarded in favor of Dax's without much discussion or anything, making Sarah look NOTHING like herself at the end of the story.
Anyway. Since I see this series as porn, I'll also add that 5 books in, the sex in this one felt mechanical and too similar to the idea presented in book 1. There's a pattern to it, how it works and what's involved, specially with the spanking, to the point of boredoom and annoyance.
To be honest I wouldn't buy this book and I don't recommend reading it, it's not worth it, even if the plot is slightly better than book 1 and the characters are slightly better fleshed out than in book 1, it's a rather low bar.
It's getting that the books are quite repetitive, as in the man/men are dominant alpha types and the woman tries and fails to fight against submitting to the authority and will of their partner/partners.
The woman will end up with a spanking or several. They'll enjoy being tied up or on to things. Nothing really changes!! After all every one of the women experience seeing a previous brides claiming, while being processed at the IBP.
While seeing it, they always exclaim how they'd never allow a man to do that, even though she's had an amazing orgasm just seeing what the other bride went through. And once matched is extremely shocked that her partner/partners will do the same!!
It maybe written slightly differently but it is just the same old thing with different names!! However, what keeps it all interesting and enjoyable to read, is the fact that the actual story and what the characters go through are exciting.
Also they all, in one way or another, keep building the experiences of the war and their battles within. Or with the issues on the actual homeworlds of the warriors, like on Viken or Trion, when the brides are actually sent to their planets and not to the battleships.
Again narrating this are Audrey Conway and BJ Pottsworth. Yet again another great reading, except for one thing....
Instead of saying "integrating" she kept saying "interrogating" and last time I looked both meant very different things entirely. Regardless it doesn't really later the enjoyment of listening to the audio at all.
Mated to the Beast is the best of the Interstellar Brides series so far. There was a good mix between smut, action and story. Although the series leans towards the dominant Prillons, I prefer the beastly Atlans instead.
Warlord Dax is pure raw alpha but doesn't push it so far that he falls into the insensitive brute category. In fact, he has a beautiful moment of introspection towards the end that was a relief to see. Sarah is probably one of the best heroines but I'm biased towards military heroines for their strength, honour, level headedness and good sense (no TSTL here).
Despite being a good book, there were a few holes that keep coming back to bug me. The main one is that Sarah was tested and matched months before Dax was. If she went through with the match, would she have been in stasis until he did his test or would she have been matched with another Atlan in the system? Couples in this series have a HEA with 95-99% compatibility so it suggests that alternate and equally successful pairings are possible. I hope this is cleared up in future books.
Lastly, after all the torment, Dax realises that he can't cotton ball Sarah but the book ends with no certain future or direction for them (I just like my HEAs tied up completely). Just vague references to meeting senators, talking tours and training. I had hoped more for our heroic couple.
DNF @ 3hrs 15mins into Audiobook. I think Grace Goodwin must have taken some hints from readers or improved her writing since starting this series. I jumped into her IBP series by reading the 10th book first (Mating Fever) since that story line appealed to me most and I really loved it! I thought I would like another Atlan beast book so went back to read this, book 5, and unfortunately I'm not enjoying it nearly as much. The first 2/3rds of the book are devoted to them meeting and having sex but the whole point of the story was to go and rescue her brother...
I also just don't like the H as much compared to Nyko, in the 10th book. I don't like that he introduced the heroine, Sarah Mills, to anal sex on the basis that that's what is expected of Atlan females and that at 18 years old, they're taught all the ways to have sex, including anal. He never asked her if she was interested or curious to try it and basically just told her that's what Atlan females do so that's what she will do as well. I guess his dominant high-handedness is supposed to be sexy but it just turned me off from this book. I think I'll stick to the later books in her series and work backwards. Hopefully I can find another book like Mating Fever...
This book was awesome, great fun action packed book with a strong kick ass women & a fun love story with amazing spice 🥵
Having made a promise to her father on his death bed that she would bring back her last brother from the war, with her other 2 brothers having already died by the hive.
She goes to enlist to the front lines but when there’s a new girl at the Center she tests her not for the front lines but to find her mate match across the universe. Since it’s not what she wants she put on the frontlines and finds and fights alongside her last brother. That is until he’s taken and she has to save him.
Her mate is a war general who has gone into mating fever, if he doesn’t mate soon he will have to be put down like most of the men of his kind. His body literally gets bigger as he goes into a frenzy where he could kill friends or foe.
She agrees to mate either him so he can help her get her brother back when everyone else wrote him off as dead. She amazes him at every turn with her fighting skills, strategy & flying.
Mated to the Beast- Sarah is a warrior in her own right and she's volunteering for the coalition because her brother's out there alone. Only the new warden at the Interstellar Bride program is mixed up and puts her through the bride testing instead of the warrior testing. And she's matched to an Atlan who's about to go into beserker mode if he doesn't get matched to his mate. Dax is at his limit, he needs a mate and now, or he will face being executed before he's too dangerous to be around. The problem is, his mate is off fighting the Hive instead of joining him. This was my gateway into the Interstellar Bride series. I read it over a year ago and then found my way back recently, deciding to read them in order this time. I love the Atlan warriors and their devotion to their females. Dax and Sarah's story is a great introduction to the Atlan warriors and their world.
How did Sarah get mixed up at being an interstellar bride? No way, she signed up to go to battle, to be a warrior for the coalition. She made her father a promise to go look out for her last surviving brother . Now that the mistake is fixed she is ready to join the coalition. For a few weeks things are going as planned, and she is side-by-side with her brother fighting the hive. That is until a huge Atlan warrior drops in on one of their missions. And the nerve of him claiming to be her mate. Now the situation is even more complicated, she not only has a mate, she has to rescue her brother from the hive. She’s a very strong and capable woman who happens to be the mate to an Atlan warrior going through the mating fever. A great book, a lot of action, a lot of steam, and who wouldn’t love a big strong warrior who puts you before everything else?
I really enjoyed this one! It pulled me in froI really enjoyed this one! It pulled me in from beginning to end and held my attention the entire time. Sarah is a strong woman and she is headed to the front lines to fight and find her last living brother to fulfill the promise she made to her dying dad. There is a bit of a mix up at first when has her going through the mating protocol but she is determined to head to the front lines. Months later, Dax is in mating fever and goes through the protocol and ends up matched to Sarah. He is shocked to learn that she is in another quadrant, a dangerous one, fighting the hive. He is determined to get to her and get her to be his mate. I enjoyed this one a lot and found it entertaining to watch Dax figure out how capable Sarah was. This story was well written and entertaining and also very hot. I really enjoyed it and am excited to see what comes next. The narrator did a good job with the characters and brining it to life as well. m beginning to end and held my attention the entire time.
Sarah is mistakenly processed as an Instellar bride instead of a coalition soldier. She promised her father she would find and protect her one remaining brother and she had the combat experience to do it. She has made it to the front lines, found her brother, and even gotten herself promoted when an unwelcome guest drops right in the middle of an op on a Hive ship. Crap. Everything goes to utter chaos and not in a good way.
Dax is an Atlan who is close to going into beast mode if he doesn't find and claim his mate. But apparently, his match is currently fighting on the front lines. That doesn't work for him and he decides to drop in and claim her. Oops.
These two will need to figure their stuff out in a hurry. Sarah's brother is in the hands of the Hive and Dax is her only hope of saving him before it is too late.
Another great story in the Interstellar Brides series. This one about an Earth soldier, Sarah, who mistakenly is tested to be a potential bride rather than the galactic soldier she signed up to be. She is match to Dax an Atlan warlord who is currently fighting a change the males from his planet go through. They need to become mated to keep the beast inside them from taking over or they get executed if the beast can not be controlled. Sarah is also fighting when they meet, she is running a group of soldiers and her brother is running a similar group, both fighting to stop the Hive. The appearance of Dax during a battle causes her brother to be captured and Sarah is willing to do anything to get him back. She connects with Dax together the fight to save her brother. But she not only connects with him to get what she wants but because she is attracted to him on several levels.
Sarah is accidentally processed for the bride program when she signs up as a soldier. Dax is an Atlan warlord who is going into mating fever. His commander insists he be matched with a bride and Sarah is his match. But she’s fighting on the front lines. If he does not mate, he will go into beast mode and go berserk and have to be killed. When Dax shows up in the middle of her op, her brother is captured by the Hive. Dax convinced her to be his mate so they can both be released from military service to go after her brother.
“I do not have to always be strong.” Dax allows Sarah to relinquish control and know that she is protected. Hot spicy scenes. Dual narration, still prefer the male narrator. He does a great growl.
A most unexpected but delightful mistake. Raised by a father and 4 brothers Sarah is not wilting simpering female. She has strength, smart, sass and skills. Joining the collation to fight by her brother Seth's side she doesn't have time for a man. Dax is so close to going berserker his commander demands he be tested for a bride. This Atlan has his work cut out for him. His bride is not some sweet bidable Atlan female raised to sooth the Beast but a warrior. Look forward to some fighting action, mating cuffs, huge alien, spanking, plugs and so many orgasms im surprised she could still talk!
This was much better than the book before it, I actually like the main character and I like the Beast. This is erotic so it has the step by step sexual doings. I like this world, the concept but it's so short and I would like to know more about the hive and I would like to get more of them connecting outside of the bedroom probably I'm feeling this way because I'm reading so much more books now. If I've read this book earlier last year I would have eaten it up. The author Ruby Dixon literally mess up alien books for me because the way she wrote the ice Planet babarians series was so wonderful that I am comparing it to every alien book I read.
Clearly, I don’t read alien romance for mental stimulation or it’s literary achievement. I read it because it’s escapist smut that I can shut my brain off for, but still be engaged. However… this is absolute porn. You know those 🌶 steam meters. Well, this goes beyond a bit of capsicum.
The super sloppy body smacking starts on the first page! This book is FILTHY. As for the story, there isn’t much plot just tons of climaxes. If you’re into porno and prefer it in words, so you can make your own images, this book is for you.
