Enter an enchanted world of animal friends! Perfect for fans of Holly Webb, Rainbow Magic, Secret Kingdom and Magic Kitten. Each cute animal has its own pair of pretty fairy wings, and a special job to do in Misty Wood to make it a wonderful place to live. Bella the Bunny is opening flowers to make Misty Wood as pretty as can be. There's a surprise inside one of the bluebells - Lexi the Ladybird! Lexi is sad because she looks different to the other ladybirds. But Bella knows just how to make her feel better . . . The Fairy Animals of Misty Wood are perfect books for girls aged 5-7. They will fall in love with these gorgeous, magical kittens, puppies, bunnies and more. Have you collected all of the Fairy Animals? Bella the Bunny Betsy the Bunny Chloe the Kitten Daisy the Deer Hailey the Hedgehog Katie the Kitten Mia the Mouse Paddy the Puppy Paige the Pony Polly the Puppy Poppy the Pony Sophie the Squirrel Lily Small grew up on the outskirts of a wood in Southern England. The eldest of four children, she would often keep her younger brother and sisters entertained with imaginary tales of the creatures that lived in the woods and the adventures they would get up to when humans weren't around. The Fairy Animals of Misty Wood stories contain some of these original ideas and many, many more . . .
This was another cute story set in 'misty wood', we follow Bella the bunny as she tries to help Lexi, the ladybird feel confident about the fact that she only has one spot- when all the other ladybirds have multiple. I think this was a sweet idea, encouraging acceptance of people who look different/have different abilities. In a sense, this story was very disability (?) positive.
BUT, I've said it, and I'll say it again, I think children's stories are best written when the children reading the stories are not assumed to be stupid by the author. By stupid, I don't really mean stupid, I just mean that children's understanding is different to adults, but that doesn't mean that you have to assume that the child will not understand anything unless it's shoved down their throats. Children can still appreciate subtlety and metaphors. But I think this book is meant for very young kids, and if that's the case, I think it's a good book, I would have loved it as a kid!
The character of Lexi was kind of annoying, like if she wants to can't she just paint more spots on herself??? She spends all her time before the bug race, working out how to hide the fact that she has only one spot, but like... paint exists, right?
I swear for the entire book, I was just waiting for Lexi to stop talking 🤓
I went in thinking this was going to be a straightforward book about fairy bunnies being all magical, but what it turned into was a euphemism for drugs and drug use. That's right, drugs.
The very first chapter is called "The Talking Bud" and don't think I am unaware of what kind of bud we are referring to. As a result, it's no surprise what actually causes the "mist" in Misty Woods.
And don't even get me started on Moonshine Pond.
This book left me with euphemistic pasties and a thirst for fae-like hallucinations.
Misty Wood is an enchanted, beautiful place with cute fairy animals. In this story, Bella the Bunny, a fairy bunny whose job is to open flowers in the morning, finds a ladybug who is worried about her appearance (she has only one spot instead of multiple spots.) The ladybug is trying to hide from an important insect sport competition, even though she is a very talented and fast flyer, because she's worried other insects will laugh at her lack of spots. Bella tries to help her find new spots. This is a chapter book with 7 chapters and 130 pages. It is fairly easy to read for children who have moved past easy readers and who are ready for larger chapter books. Best for kids who like a lot of cuteness in their books.
I like this book because it has fairies. I also dedicate this book to Lily Small. I chose this 5 star rating because I love the book about Bella the bunny. It has a lot of magic and friends who help each other.
Bella the Bunny is an adorable book that emphasizes the importance of accepting who you are and supporting your friends. I'd highly recommend this book to parents with children ages 6-8 years old.
Cute book for 1st and 2nd graders. The story shows the importance of accepting who you are and valuing your differences. It also shows how to be supportive to your friends.
Misty Wood is a lovely place where all of the animals have their own jobs to do to make it even lovelier. While Bella the Bunny is coaxing the flowers to open up, she comes upon one stubborn bloom that won't open. To her surprise, the flower contains Lexi the Ladybug who's hiding there to avoid the Insect Sports Day. Since she has only one spot, she is sure the other insects will make fun of her. Bella tries hard to find a way to give her more sports, but when all her efforts fail, she ends up racing one of the legs in a relay race. Suddenly, her one spot becomes an asset rather than a liability. It might take some getting used to for readers to become comfortable with all these winged creatures such as a bunny or a cat flying through the air in this series, but it will surely appeal to the younger set because of those very creatures and their kind-heartedness and the book's message about being true to oneself.
Bella the Bunny wants to complete her assigned task of opening the Bluebell buds when she comes across a ladybug who is scared to compete in the Misty Wood Insect Sport Day because everyone will laugh when they see that she only has one spot. This chapter book from the Fairy Animals of Misty Wood series will appeal to new readers in grades 1-3 who are ready for chapter books. With its short chapters, easy sentence construction, and fairy animal subject matter, the entire series might end up being a popular choice with its audience. I would recommend this book for purchase for schools or public libraries with a need for popular series paperbacks for new readers.

My daughter loves these books. The characters are kind and help each other. It's great to read a book with my daughter that demonstrates positive behaviors and friendship.
This book was exiting fun and encouraging. Bella is a really sweet bunny that helps lexi the ladybug who only has 1 spot to win a race and be known as the bravest bunny in misty wood
