Our first all-new edition to top 500 pages, this was the Bathroom Reader that made the publishing world stand up and take notice—these guys are here to stay. Also appearing for the first time in Giant 10th Anniversary is our famous “Extended Sitting Section,” a series of extra-long articles for those truly leg-numbing experiences. There are also plenty of short and medium articles covering a whole host of topics, including little-known history, pop science, myth-conceptions, celebrity rumors, comedian quotes, and, of course, really dumb crooks. I am so hooked, and I love these fun and unique books SO much, I feel spoiled when I have to attend a bathroom without the comfort of one of these bad boys in it! I feel as though the time is wasted when I could have spent it reading! I love this series of books put out by 'Uncle John' and it is meant to have interesting reading material for when you find yourself having some unexpected time on your hands...! Humorous and tongue in cheek for the most part, and even learn a thing or two, too! The content of these digest type books contain a lot of humor, general interest, pop culture, stories, origins, and top tens. Their format is entertaining, easily digestible, making it fast reading. I open it to any page and read, it is very easy reading. Do you read in the bathroom??? Let me know; is it a crossword, or a newspaper, a novel or a tablet!? A bookcase??! I wanna know and hear from you!!
I spotted a few things that I suspect might not be 100% accurate, and this is from 1997, so even the other stuff is likely out of date. (I was particularly amused by the advertisement that, next year, the BRI will have it's very own website!) Still, there were a lot of interesting articles, and this was a godsend when I had nearly a week with no internet.
Pretty good, incredible amount of book devoted to a Tonight Show odyssey that probably could have been compressed. Still old enough to lack the fact-checking and rigour of the later volumes.
