Do-gooder Holly Anna Paladin can’t believe her eyes when a healthy baby boy is left on her doorstep. What seems like good fortune quickly turns into concern when blood spatter is found on the bottom of the baby carrier. Something tragic—maybe deadly—happened in connection with the infant. The note left only adds to the confusion. What does it mean by “Don’t trust anyone”?
Holly is determined to figure out the identity of the baby. Is his mom someone from the inner-city youth center where she volunteers? Or maybe the connection is through Holly’s former job as a social worker? Even worse—what if the blood belongs to the baby’s mom?
Every answer Holly uncovers only leads to more questions. A sticky web of intrigue captures her imagination until she’s sure of only one thing: she must protect the baby at all cost.
Christy Barritt is an author, freelance writer and speaker who lives in Virginia. She’s married to her Prince Charming, a man who thinks she’s hilarious—but only when she’s not trying to be. Christy’s a self-proclaimed klutz, an avid music lover who’s known for spontaneously bursting into song, and a road trip aficionado. She’s only won one contest in her life—and her prize was kissing a pig (okay, okay… actually she did win the Daphne du Maurier Award for Excellence in Suspense and Mystery also). Her current claim to fame is showing off her mother, who looks just like former First Lady Barbara Bush When she’s not working or spending time with her family, she enjoys singing, playing the guitar, and exploring small, unsuspecting towns where people have no idea how accident prone she is.
More suspense while Holly Anna Paladin investigates again—this time the crime behind a baby’s arrival and what has the mother so terrified. Once again, there are lots of leads to follow up on, and severely sleep-deprived Holly Anna’s bound to make an error of judgment here and there. And of course Jamie is right there at her side with sass and spirit....
This series goes along at a nice pace, and I really enjoy each visit with the characters.
Christy Barritt is one of my favorite cozy mysteries writers. She writes with such clarity and unique stories that I am drawn in instantly. I really enjoy how she has written a number of series that have repeating characters. I feel like I know them and am returning for a visit. In her newest addition to her Holly Paladin series, Random Acts of Greed, I feel the same way. Barritt didn't have to spend a lot of time catching me up on who Holly was and her past. Since I had read all the other books in the series, it is pretty easy to keep her background in check. What I really look forward to in a mystery novel is the high-octane tension. Barritt does a good job at this. She knows what the genre and her fans what, and she delivers. I expect to see Holly asking questions of different people, which lead her to question more people, then eventually get to close to the answer where she places her own life in danger. Barritt gives it to me. With Random Acts of Greed, Barritt has taken a real problem and brought it to life surrounding an innocent baby boy. The spiritual element of learning to have faith in God by believing he'll do what he says is something Holly and I both struggle with. I will look forward to see how she handles this in the upcoming novels. I really enjoyed this novel and highly recommend it to fans of Barritt's other works or fans of other cozy mysteries. Anyone of any age could read this mystery.
I received a complimentary copy of Random Acts of Greed from Christy Barritt, and the opinions stated are all my own.
My September Kindle prime loan. I've always enjoyed every single Christy Barritt book I've read, and this was no exception. Another good installment of Holly Anna and company figuring things out. I wasn't quite sure at the end what is going on or happening with her and Chase, so gotta find the next book soon :)
Ok, so I just finished random acts of greed by Christy Barritt, and wow, once I started reading, she wouldn't let me go. I love how much the book kept me reading, kept me pulled in, always wondering what Holly was gonna do next. I loved how Christy always had Holly being a sleuth of her own accord, wanting to trust but always being cautious. There was nothing about the book I didn't like, outside of Holly and Chase coming to a hiatus in their relationship, and for good reason, gotta keep things mysterious somewhere. If you haven't already read this book, I advise you to start at the beginning of this series, with random acts of murder, or try some of her other books, she doesn't disappoint.

Holly is doing the right thing again and this time it involves a precious baby. Why would anyone leave a baby at her doorstep? What's the mother's connection to her? This book pulled at my heartstrings as a mother and kept me reading to find out if mom and baby would be reunited. Once again Christy Barritt's writing keeps me engaged and I feel like Holly is one of my best friends at this point. I can't wait to see what happens next!
“Random Acts of Greed” by Christy Barritt was an exciting mystery! I have enjoyed all of Holly Paladin series, but I believe this is my favorite, so far. This one kept me guessing until the end! This novel involves an infant who is left on Holly’s doorstep. There are so many twists and turns involved in the mystery of who and why someone left the infant on Holly’s doorstep.
I highly recommend this series and all of Christy Barritt’s novels.
I love reading about Holly and all her mysteries. Christy Barritt uses lots of tension, suspense and twist and turns to move us through the book. I love Holly, her spunky attitude and her sidekick Jaime. The ending has me anticipating the next book. You can read the book as a stand alone but you get a richer experience reading the entire series.
Another suspenseful Holly Anna Paladin mystery. This time someone drops a baby on her doorstep and it doesn't take Holly long to fall in love with the baby. Lots of twists and turns in this book. Several villains. I had one pegged early. I loved this story. What I didn't love about this story is Holly and Chase stale romance.
Okay I will admit upfront that I cried while reading this book. There is a baby in the story and I was a foster parent as is Holly in this story. When you have to give the children up to their new home or former home you always cry. I won't ruin the ending for you but to say I can't wait for the next book!
This is a great book in the series of Holly Anna mysteries. The beginning starts off with a lot of suspense when Holly finds a baby on her doorstep. The excitement and suspense continue throughout this story. The many twists and turns kept me reading until I finally got to the end. The end is worth losing sleep in order to complete the book.
Barritt has a certain gift for wrapping up one set of problems, then after a short respite, something dangerous happens, and there is another mystery to be solved. Then it is all weaved together in a completed pattern.
This book is as good as all the other Christy Barritt books. It's more in Holly Anna's saga complete with twists andbturns. definitely recommend it for suspense lovers.
This is a very good mystery. It keeps you in suspense until the very end . I really thought I new who the KILLER was but I was wrong. Just when you thing you have it figured out you don't . I recommend this book and series.
This series of stories with Holly Ann Pallidin are hard to put down! The stories are believable and the characters are relatable. She is just a great storyteller!
What would you do if a baby boy was left on your doorstep with a note saying don’t trust anyone? There are a lot of questions Holly has and she will not stop until she gets the answers. Read and find out what happens.
This story had so many great twists and turns. Someone left a baby on Holly's front porch and that got her questioning everything. Life choices and new directions. I'm definitely starting the next book today!
This book was so good. I felt like Holly was making a lot of good decisions, and I felt really bad for her at times as well. I loved this one and I can't wait to read more.
As expected another well written exciting book by Christy. It is amazing how many times she comes up with new and exciting stories. She always manages mystery and intriguing events in her stories. Love the series..
