Since I don't normally write reviews unless I have something specific to say, here's the break down of how I rate my books...

1 star... This book was bad, so bad I may have given up and skipped to the end. I will avoid this author like the plague in the future.

2 stars... This book was not very good, and I won't be reading any more from the author.

3 stars... This book was ok, but I won't go out of my way to read more, But if I find another book by the author for under a dollar I'd pick it up.

4 stars... I really enjoyed this book and will definitely be on the look out to pick up more from the series/author.

5 stars... I loved this book! It has earned a permanent home in my collection and I'll be picking up the rest of the series and other books from the author ASAP.

A retired police detective and a book store owner team up together after attending a book awards show and the winner is found dead at the end of the evening. They actively helped the police department with this and it was a good one. There were any number of people who wanted the book author winner dead for different reasons. I like the characters and the length they went to in order to solve this mystery. This is the 4th book in the series which I had downloaded free, so now I want to find the other books and go back to the 1st book and read them in order. Well done Kennedy.

Grace Angelo is a retired police detective and a witch who can communicate with spirits through her cat Charity and dog Noah. Dario Donatelli is a local bookstore owner who invites Grace to a book award event. When Grace and Dario arrive they discover that one of the book winners Gary Arneston has been murdered. Zachary Jackson a detective from Hemlock Cove investigates the murder. Grace and Dario using the spirits of Grace’s departed mother help Zachary in the investigation. I really enjoyed this remarkable cozy mystery novel.

Grace is a retired detective who now lives and helps her sisters in a bakery business which they run from their guest house.

Grace is invited by her best friend Dario who is a book shop owner and she's hoping their friendship becomes more but there is always something coming between them.

They attend a author awards evening but a dead body spoils the great night they were having.

Grace and Dario aid Zachary the lead detective in the case and in fact solving the case.

It was nice spending more time with these characters. An authors awards ceremony with obvious ego and envy moments. This felt like the after effects of too much science fiction convention time. That said I enjoyed the journey. The set up for murder touched on places I've been and the sheer craziness of fandom.

Puzzling

Woo-we the twists on this tale were completely unexpected! This tale of the supernatural involved secrets and vengeance with a side of budding romance that I'm loving with each addition to the series.

I think Grace's whole family is so interesting.

Dario and Grace go to a Science Fiction Award Ceremony. The writer who picks up the award for best book of the ceremony is found dead shortly thereafter.

Now Grace, Dario, and Zack look for the killer.

Read and enjoy.

This is part of an interesting paranormal series with a clever story-line, but I continue to be disappointed by the editing problems and I am still confused about Grace's age. Is she 45? 55?

Body possession

Great idea to have a ghost possess a body to commit murder. Grace and Dario are perfect couple. I like this mystery series. Light reading and interesting.

Grace and Dario find a body and decide to help the police find the killer. I'm not sure what Det. Jackson does but he depends on Grace to solve everything. Dario got a lot more play in this book, usually the guy is off to the side admiring her from a distance. The fast paced story gives us clues with subtle and smartly chosen words. Although I have enjoyed this author and her witty characters the storytelling seems to have a pattern. The romance portion is slowly coming about but I'd like to have more fact finding from hard work instead of through magic. My copy was given for my honest and unbiased review.

Improving

This has not been on my list of favorite series. The concept of the heroine's parents residing in her cat and dog is just a little too bizarre for me, even if it is a unique idea. Once again in this book we spend a lot of time on that concept and we never learn why the soul inside Charity is resting. This whole section concerning the "vet" seems really to have no particular reason to have been in the story in the first place. However, I still must admit that I read it, and that the stories are improving. For that, an A for effort.

He pulled off his greatest appearance at the awards.

Loved it. A book award ceremony is just what she needs to get her out of the funk that her cats illness has thrown her into. However when they discover the award winner dead things turn more deadly. Why did someone kill him and how? A great plot with twists and turns that will have you second guessing yourself and characters that you have grown to love. A great read.

Great cozy mystery!

A sweet and intensely intriguing mystery. It has both supernatural and regular sleuthing. The characters are richly complex and endearing. I love how the characters of the dog and cat interact in the plot.
Thank you Kindle Unlimited for offering this book in your selection. It has brought to my attention this fascinating series, but this excellent author.
