War has taken everything Bryce Tilden loves, but he won't let it take away his hope.
Giving himself, body and soul, to a man he's never met was never something Bryce thought he would do until he enlists in Project Alpha, the military's most secret operation to date. After all, Bryce is straight. No genetic modification is going to change that.
But after a medical procedure goes wrong and he awakens as an Omega, there isn't any choice but to submit and serve at the side of a powerful Alpha unit. At first, Bryce is appalled—
—until Jackson Henley walks into his life and awakens in him an inescapable bond that turns Bryce's whole world upside down.
Jackson Henley is looking for an honorable way to die.
Haunted by his traumatic past and without hope for the future, Jackson sees Project Alpha as the death sentence he craves. Trained to be the ultimate warrior, he knows he'll risk it all on the front lines, and with his upcoming match to an Omega unit imminent, he hopes it won't be much longer before that risk turns to ruin—
—until a chance encounter with an Omega he's forbidden to love awakens within him a protector who will do anything and everything to keep safe what belong to him.
All it takes is one moment to change two lives forever.
Drawn together by fate but kept apart by circumstance, can two souls made for one another overcome the obstacles separating them and turn the tides of war?
Omega Academy is the first book in the Project Alpha/Omega series, and contains strong language, dark themes, MPreg, no cheating, and a definitive HEA. Readers sensitive to topics such as attempted sexual assault and violence should exercise caution while reading.
This is a good book. I hadn't expected the twist that we got, but it was a really good one. It gave the book an edge over others in the same category. A great start to a series.
It seems that Jackson and Bryce got their characters reversed after they got injected. I mean that Bryce was more of an alpha and Jackson more of an omega before the transition. But this is what made their characters interesting. Bryce fought against his alpha tendencies to convert himself into an omega, and Jackson had to reluctantly shoulder the burden of being an alpha. I liked them both (at least as much as we got to know about them) and I liked the story. The romance development left me wanting because they shoved it all under instinctual and a 'greater cause at play here' sort of stuff. That's my only issue. Actually, they both whined a lot about their past for me to feel much about them. Bryce was all about how he came to be an omega while his brother turned into an alpha, and Jackson was all about how he had wanted his life to be over and now suddenly it isn't. It would have helped if they had something more to contribute.
Plus, there were quite a few typos - not grave, though - that should be removed by an editor.
All in all, this book has got me hooked into reading the next book. :) But it's not something I will read again. It had lots of points to run with, but it fell flat. This book only has a story, not well-described MCs or proper romance development. Only the development of their 'bond'. So... Here's to hoping that the next book doesn't brush over all these things again.
Secret military operations + Shifters + Mpreg + GFY = Omega Academy
Omega Academy is the first in a series about a secret military operation known as Project Alpha/Omega where willing recruits are injected with a serum that provides them with advanced capabilities. The world is in ruins after years of war and the government is on their last leg. Project Alpha/Omega is their last ditch effort in order to bring peace and order.
"The face of the world was changing, and they were to be the ones responsible for its new shape"
In Omega Academy we meet Bryce and Jackson - both very similar while also being polar opposites. Jackson is an Alpha who has only joined the Project so that he can die with honor. Bryce on the other hand is an Omega who has joined the project so that he and his identical twin Liam can avenge the deaths of their parents.
There is a lot going on in this book - a lot. We have:
1. Project Alpha/Omega - where almost all of the recruits are left in the dark about whats going on, and in the very least Bryce is left in the dark thus having us (the reader) in the dark.
"There were layers to this operation that no one was willing to disclose, and it was driving him crazy. All of the secrets were driving him crazy."
2. MPreg - which is a bit spoilery but nothing too surprising if you have read stories like this before
3. GFY - Byrce is not gay. He is Not. Gay. We hear this many times over the course of the book. Bryce. Is. Not. Fucking. Gay. Yet he wants Jackson - so Bryce, hate to break it to you but it at least makes you curious.
"All it takes is one breath to get under my skin and make me hard for you. How am I supposed to keep my hands off of you? You’re the best thing that’s ever happened to me.”
4. "Mate" Drama - so in this "world" the word Mate does not come up. This is not a fated mate story....until it is. I realize this is confusing. All of the Alphas are paired with an Omega based on traits and genes. Jackson in the beginning is paired with an Omega, but it is not his Omega. There is forced biting and yada yada but the more important fact is that while there aren't "fated" mates, there are Omegas that are pretty damn close.
5. Slow. Fucking. Burn - so if you're looking for a sexy time book this will not be it. There isn't really any steam till after the 60% mark and from there it picks up a bit. This is not smut - this is a world building book that will help transition the series to the second book (where we hopefully get more steam ;))
"Jackson was driving down into a spot inside of him that made him crazy and left him craving more. Their bodies worked in unison, one against the other, until Bryce felt it at last. Jackson buried himself deep and shot.”
6. World building - I wished there would have been more world building. I didn't have the slightest clue where the guys were (America, Europe, Austrailia!??) and who the hell was the opposition? We didn't know even if they were fighting for the "good" team or what. Also, it was never addressed if women could be Alphas or Omegas - it seems that this is only a mans project.
All in all I enjoyed Omega Academy but didn't love it - That said, I am interested in seeing how the story progresses with the other Alpha and Omegas in the Academy!
I really enjoyed first 50% of the book, thinking giving it at least 4 stars.
However, after Bryce's bathroom window incident it started going downhill. Too much info dumping (pre-war, pre-academy life, constantly whining about wanting to die, then changing mind...) and too lovey-dovey bordering saccharine in the very end.
Jackson never made an impression on me as a big bad alpha. Omega Oliver had more guts, will and drive than him.
A few nice surprises in the second part of the book and one more closer to the end. 3.25 stars. Rounding down to 3 on GR and up to 3.5 on Booklikes.

Dr. Reed -ha-ha, that name, different spelling but still, I could not help it! =)

Monica, thank you for the rec. All in all, it was a very fun read :)
Meh, this was not the worst shifter-book ever, but it wasn't the best either. Maybe I've read too many shifter-books and are having a hard time finding them new and exciting, but either way this will not be a re-read. I skimmed a few pages here and there and there were a few places where there were mistakes that took away from the story, for example when Bryce called Henley by his first name (Jackson), even though he didn't know it yet. This book really didn't get a lot of reactions from me, I didn't hate it, but it's not going to be on my favorite-list either.
Bryce pushes his identical twin brother Liam into signing up for 'Project Alpha', a hush-hush military project, where they are looking for candidates via ads in the paper. Bryce and Liam are broke and their family was killed in the war. They long for revenge, but also to get out from the crippling debt. When they get the serum and Bryce wakes up as an Omega, he is not happy! Liam is changed to an Alpha and they are split up between the 2 academies. They are both at their respective academies for a week before the first ever graduating class of Alphas and Omegas are paired up at a ceremony, and they are then supposed to get ready for war. Jackson Henley is among the first graduating class, and is paired up with a despicable omega named Reynolds (I get that he wants to survive, but he becomes a bastard as the book progresses.) At the ceremony Bryce and Jackson smell each other, and then the fight for finding each other, and making those military dudes listen, take place.
Bryce sneaks to the Alpha academy by switching places with Liam and when Bryce and Jackson finally come together, they have to get back and get Liam out (also they both have some pretty interesting reactions when they are together.)
All in all this was just... Meh. The resolution of their problems felt... Weird!? And 'too easy!?' There was a lack of world building, it is clear the USA was on the edge of disaster, but not a lot of time was dedicated to that, which was a shame, since it made the story seem: unfinished?! Also Jones from Omega academy and Dr. Reed seemed to just... Skate on over, it was... Very superficial. Yeah, superficial, I think I was a wee bit bored in the end.
I finished this book and immediately felt conflicted over how to rate this. I liked it...and I didn't. I enjoyed the characters...and I still felt like I didn't know them. I almost wasn't sure if this was a book for me when there was definitely some dubcon and assault going on, but I am glad I stuck with reading this one.
Also, I felt like there was so much plot and explanations for things (seriously, there were some loooonnnggg paragraphs in this story), but at the same time I still didn't know where in the world this was taking place, who this war was against and why it had all started, and where the heck are all the women?
There are many elements in this story that I would usually be all over...alpha/omegas, mpreg, GFY, apparent "fated" mates exist rather than the pairings that the military choose, and great chemistry between the two MCs. I thought that Bryce and Jackson had great chemistry once they finally got to be together. And this was definitely a slow burn...they don't even really meet until close to half way through the story. What I did like was that this wasn't just smut, there was definitely attention to the plot for the characters.
I would definitely be interested in the next story, hopefully with more romance now that the background has been set up, as well as more attention to the mpreg and maybe even more with Bryce's twin and his mate? I wish we had gotten more with them rather than their story mostly taking place off-page. This is off to a promising start and I look forward to more from this author!
I received this ARC book in exchange for an honest review.
Note : Received this ARC in exchanged for honest opinion 3 stars
Man, I am struggling to write my opinion on this arc. Well, everybody have their own opinion. This book has so much potentials that I feel bad it is just all over the place. This is my first time seeing a book that has a lot of words (it doesn’t make sense, but that is just what I feel and I can’t help it but to skipped the pages most of the time). It was brilliant, how the author came up with the idea of pairing up an alpha and omega to win a war, and while I am a huge fan of MPREG, sadly I am not sure if this book nailed whatever it wanted to convey. Nevertheless, I am waiting for the second ARC and see where this series lead. I have faith the 2nd book will be better.
Objectively speaking, I am aware that the book was pretty good. The writing was lively, the story interesting and the chracters with a lot of depth. However, throughout the whole middle part I was annoyed and bored out of my mind. The characters just behaved so stupid, the story was dragging, etc.... But as this is really just a pesonal quirk of mine (I hate characters making dumb mistakes or being helpless because of an overbearing and powerful system...) I'm still giving 3 stars. They are set together from: Beginning 3* Middle 1* Ending 4-5* Personal Enjoyment 2* Objective Judgement 4*

So, I really enjoyed the idea of this book. A newly developed Alpha/Omega military fighting unit sent out to turn the tide of war. I was thoroughly intrigued by the start - twin brothers signing up for the program, both for financial reasons and to avenge the death of their parents. It got even more interesting when, after the serum was administered, the more dominant twin presented as an Omega, and the more submissive twin an Alpha. I was like yes!!! I am here for this! The author clearly writes well, and the story was well edited (just a few errors) but, as much as I wanted to love it, and I did like parts of it, it just didn't work for me in its entirety.
The story was long where it should have been short, and short where it should have been long. Jackson and Bryce took a while to meet, and then an even longer time to actually get together. I was intrigued by Bryce's training / inability to assimilate, but I still felt like it was dragging. They do cross paths, and realize they are each other's special somebody (they don't really understand they are 'mates' yet), but then an attempt to get to each other have them heading off in opposite directions. My blood pressure started on a slow rise. It's like we know they'll end up together; why are you putting me through this lol? I don't have that kind of patience.
I had a problem with characterization. When I read books, I need to be able to nail the personalities in my head, and I need people to play their positions. We had Jackson, the Alpha, who I felt was weak and emo; Bryce, the Omega, who was not really submissive, but not really strong either. He was just...confusing. And we had Oliver Reynolds, the Omega initially matched to Jackson who was bossy, aggressive, disrespectful and a liar. I hated him and I hated how Jackson allowed him to boss him around. But again, it threw me off because how was Oliver an Omega? And why was he being put in charge of administering meds etc to Jackson?? I think he was more of an Alpha than Jackson was! I think what the author was going for, was to show that the program didn't always have people manifest correctly, or that people can't be boxed in with labels, and/or that Omegas are not necessarily weak (mention was made of the Omegas really being the ones in control since they could mood control the Alphas, kind of like the 'submissive has all the power' argument, but it just didn't work for me. I have read lots of books with strong, or mouthy/bratty Omegas, and kind, compassionate Alphas (we all know I love nurturing Alphas, and there is no one way to be an Alpha), but you still knew they were alpha/omega. I was just confused and uncomfortable the whole time reading this because I couldn't make sense of who the characters were supposed to be, and it totally threw me off so I couldn't settle into the story.
The repetition in this book did me in. The same event from different points of view. Bryce's need to have stuff relayed to him. "Tell me what happened". Dude, weren't you there?? Then we had to sit through Jackson and Bryce telling the stuff we've already lived through, to the doctors. Argh.
Parts of the plot left me totally squinty eyed in confusion.
1) How exactly was Bryce supposed to last more than a day Then once he got there and found Jackson, he was going to do what? Furthermore,
2) Bryce had just hugged his brother who mentioned his Omega smell, . The recruits hadn't been near the omegas and even if there was residual smell, it wouldn't have lasted the entire bus ride.
3) Then after we go through all this and they meet, Bryce wants to go back to this room, and the next day thinks about making his peace with Jackson and going home. So why did I just sit through all that? These are the kinds of things that just make a book longer for no reason, and kind of exasperate me.
4) The situation with the roommate - sigh. The 'escape', the hike back. Long stories about Jackson's childhood. Skim. Skim. Skim. Just get back to the Academy so we can see what's going on with your brother please. Bryce's insistence every third page that he wasn't gay, but never felt this way before. We get it. I just didn't have the patience. At this point I was pretty much skimming. By the time we got to the actual sex, I was just eh. This author clearly writes well but there was just too much detail about random things, that by the time I got to the 'important stuff' I was tired. I skimmed the sex too. The twist at the end, didn't really move me either.
To be honest, I didn't really root for anyone in this book because I didn't feel connected to, or particularly like, any of them. I just didn't understand the silly decisions and 'extra' stuff to make the book longer (unintentionally I'm sure) ie. finally getting to a sex scene like 70% into the book, but then 'No, I don't have lube. I don't want to hurt you. We can do something else.' You CANNOT be serious. Improvise! Turns out Bryce was wet enough. I ended up skimming the sex anyway, but my blood pressure did spike for like 2.5 seconds.
After the start which was interesting and fun, the next interesting thing for me was Dr. Reed putting Reynolds in his place when he woke him up at night, and then Eric bursting in at the end, and putting them all in their place. Everything else was just 'there'.
Eric was interestinggggg. Of course I LOVE him because he walked in the room and shut everyone down. Alpha, Omega, it didn't matter; they all zipped their lips. If you're gonna be an Alpha, be an Alpha damgnamit! Hee! Is Dr. Reed his Omega?? And if Dr. Reed is an Omega, how was he so able to intimidate Oliver? Are they both Alphas? Is Eric the Omega? (Eek, no. I love him as the Alpha). Questions. Questions. Sadly, I'm not interested in any of the four featured in this book. Well, Jaime is cute.
I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. I loved this book, the characters Bryce and Jackson were great. I loved how even though Bryce is an omega he thinks outside the box like a alpha. The plot is steady in pace with a few twists that keep you on your toes. I look forward to more books in this series.
3.5 stars, solid book, some freshness to the genre but also some room for improvement. The first book was to me more solid and interesting in the second, though the second has reveals that readers of this book will want to see. The characters have good chemistry and I love how Bryce struggles to get to Henley, he works so hard to reach him, just to finally be with him! Henley doesn't do as much, he sort of accepts what he's told a lot, though he knows something is missing and he feels the omega he's matched up with is not the right one. Finally the two get together and I like how Bryce can't seem to help himself though he keeps saying he's not gay. I feel that part was handled well, it was sort of 'i'm not gay but I just feel like we're meant to be'. Not glossed over but not forced either. Overall entertaining read!

From the moment I started this novel I was hooked. Jules Finley wrote and incredible story very well. Her characters are well developed so you understand their personalities, what makes them tick and what doesn't, you can identify with them.
Finley developed the two main characters, Bryce and Jackson to the point that you feel their emotions, whether their frustrated, in agony, in fear or in extreme happiness, it's heartfelt. There were times I cried, and other's where I wanted to throttle one of the omega's just like Jackson wanted to (which you will too). Plus the love scenes are hot.
In the prologue you immediate meet Dr. Reed who develops a serum that when injected into a man's bloodstream makes him superman/superhuman, with cellular regeneration from any injury or wound, plus resistant to infection and disease making it very different to kill him.
Dr. Reed's success with creating the Ultimate Soldier, a killing machine, the military was quick to sign him on to produce more alpha's, so named "Project Alpha". But not all men come through as an Alpha, some come out of their slumber as an omega, the lowest solider.
The story is set in war time where these soldiers are expected to win and end the war and the first unit of alpha/omega's are ready to be deport. In time of war, many of these men have lost loved ones, businesses, and money. It's the money that's the biggest draw for the men needed for the project.
It's the reason that Bryce with his identical twin Liam sign up for the mission of Project Alpha. With the amount of money involved would pay off all their outstanding bills, as well as a chance to fight in the war to revenge their parents. It's in the project that Bryce meets Jackson.
There are twists and unexpected turns from the characters and their situation throughout the story, there is no time to get bored reading. In fact, I was angry at myself because I couldn't put it down the book to get some sleep, then I thought and dreamt about parts of it that night!
Really, it's a book well worth reading. I highly recommend this novel.
I love this book! It is a great start of a series. Bryce and his twin Liam are in need of money after the war killed their parents. So they both enlists in Project Alpha. However everything is not what it seems and when thever the Tilden twins were injected with the genetic modification they both reacted differently. While Liam becomes an Alpha poor Bryce becomes an Omega. So they both go to different Academy to prepare for war and Bryce that he has to be intimate with the Alpha he is going to be assign to. Bryce isent happy about this until he see an Alpha, Jackson Henley. Jackson just wanted to help he mother after the war made it so she needed medical help. However he doesn't care to live after the war. Jackson believes that this war is a death sentence. That is before he meets Bryce and he is now willing to live if he could have Bryce in his life. Both now have to figure out how to be together when circumstance are trying to keep them apart. I just love the fact that Bryce even as an Omega still fights being submit like all the other Omegas. Bryce just made me feel that he could get want he wants even when everyone is telling him no. Bryce and Jackson together I love that they both help eachother instead of being one more dominant just like any relationship. *I receive this book from the author for a honest review.*
War has ravaged the US and poverty and despair run rampant, so when Bryce finds an ad for “The Alpha Project” offering a huge bonus and salary he convinces his twin Liam to check it out with him. Things get weird from the start, first being gassed and waking up strapped to a table and things get even more interesting from there. Bryce finds himself in the previously not mentioned “Omega Academy” where he flounders, especially since Liam was sent to the “Alpha Academy” with little hope of seeing each other again. When the first class of Alphas to finish training come to be matched with their Omega counterpart Bryce finds he is desperately drawn to one of them, even contemplating jumping over the second floor balcony. Jackson too is affected and refuses to bite and claim the Omega chosen for him. Bryce is determined to meet Jackson and convinces his brother to trade places with him so he can sneak into Alpha Academy to do it. A strange series of coincidences and transformations follow Jackson and Bryce as they get closer to each other and explore the strange connection they share. WOW! I loved this book, lots of action and excitement as the story follows Bryce and Jackson through danger after danger to be together and then try to save Liam as well. The storyline was engrossing and the characters really had me routing for them!
4 Stars for Omega Academy. Ah, this book reminded me why I have such a weakness for shifter romances. I absolutely loved the characters. Bryce didn't have typical omega characteristics and he was an interesting MC to follow because he had so much internal conflict to work through. Jackson was 100% alpha with a side serving of hot damn. The book followed a pretty smooth plot right up until the end and then everything changed a little abruptly, hence only 4 stars. Definitely recommend.

This was a very interesting story. The story is based in a time when war has destroyed the land and in an effortlessly to win the Alpha/Omega project was created. Twin brothers signed up to be a part of the Alpha project -they knew nothing of the Omega part. The brothers joined to do their part in the war. Things go south for Bryce who became an Omega not an Alpha. Alphas arrive at the Omega academy to be paired with an Omega to head to the war zone and things take a significant turn for Bryce and Alpha Jackson. The story then follows Bryce's quest to meet the Alpha and more details are made available of this project. The writing was solid, characters were developed and it was fast paced enough to keep you engaged. I enjoyed this story and felt it was nicely done! I was asked to be a ARC for my honest review.
I thought that this book was excellent! I loved that Bryce didn't fit the expected omega mold, yet he definitely was wholly an omega. Throughout the book I honestly couldn't tell if most of the authority figures were sincere, or if they were being unethical which added a delicious uncertainty in trying to guess who should be trusted. I definitely want to be reading more of this, and any other works that Jules Finley publishes.

Omega Academy is a very interesting read. Though I had a bit of a time getting into the story, I can say that it kept me interested and entertained throughout the book. Jackson and Bryce are both very determined to be together against all odds and it is incredible what Bryce does to be with Jackson. Because sneaking into the alpha compound is not all roses for Bryce. When he and Jackson finally get together you can see the chemistry between them is very strong. I received an arc for honest review.
I really enjoyed the second half of this book and because of that I'm giving it 3.5 stars. The first half was okay but it was too slow and it took forever for the two main characters to meet. After the Bryce and Jackson meet is when the book takes off and you can't wait to see what happens next. I would have loved to learn more about what happened between Jamie and Liam but was glad things worked out for them. Although it started slow the ending was really good and I will be reading the next book in this series. I received this book in exchange for an honest review
I was immersed into the book straight away. Bryce & Jackson were drawn to each other & I found myself eager to see how it went for both of them. The suspense was high the whole way through. I found myself on the edge of my seat, the suspense making me want to read faster to find out what happens next but not skimming so I didn't miss anything. There were lots of Ohh No's & are you sure that's wise moments.. Overall an interesting, enjoyable story & I look forward to the next book.
I absolutely positively loved this, until the last third maybe. The concept was unique, especially within the abo genre, the characters had motivation and development beyond just the fated mates thing. I was 100% on board and my heart broke every time Bryce and Jackson had a missed connection.
And then they escaped and it got interesting and woo now there’s sex and shifters.
Except... then they go back and work for the government that used them as lab rats and treated them like shit and essentially bred them to be cannon fodder in a war neither of them are thrilled about???? And they’re bringing their child into this??? Willingly?? After everything they’re just cool with it??!!!
Like seriously. What the fuck.
I have many thoughts about the way this book ended. Maybe it changes in the sequel and I get the full on rebellion against the corrupt government that experiments on people that I was hoping for throughout this entire story. But I will not be sticking around to find out. The ending of this book ruined any desire I had to continue with this story, no matter how amazing and fun the concept was.

This book was a bit different from the other Mpreg books I've been reading. I enjoyed the story however, the author did go off a little with rehashing things that had been said. For that reason I couldn't give the fifth star. Also there was no real explanation as to what was going on. I'll read book two and hope there is a better explanation. Otherwise good book.
This is a great read I enjoyed it from beginning to end. Loved the characters they were s great match. Thanks Jules for a great time I had looking forward to reading more.💕😻
New to this author and I’m impressed. This is a different take on the omega verse trope and I loved it. I highly recommended you read this if you love omegaverse too

Summary: During war time countries have tried to create the ultimate solder to fight their battles for them. The USA was in the fight of their life with little hope winning until Dr. Reed made a formula that would remake an individuals DNA to make him stronger than they could imagine and they called it The Alpha Project. Liam and Bryce lost their parents during an attack and Liam thought this might be their chance for some payback while making enough money to pay off all their debts. Being twins where Liam led Bryce followed, but when it came right down to it Bryce decided for them. What they signed up for was not exactly what it turned out to be after they were injected with a substance what turned Bryce into a super solder, alpha, leaving Liam weak and submissive, omega. They were separated into different areas leaving Liam angry and questioning their choice. It was fascinating how the different the alpha and the omegas were treated. You see no one told the applicants had a fifty-fifty chance to be one or the other and the alphas were considered more worthwhile than the omegas. Liam may be an omega, but his dominant personality made it difficult to fit into the training.
Jackson was one of the strongest alphas, but even he didn't quite fit in because he didn't believe that the omegas were worth less than they were. They were all solders after all. The day when the first Alpha class was being matched with their chosen Omega Jackson smelled a scent, Liam, that he couldn't ignore. At the same time, Liam did everything he could do to get to him, but those in charge on both sides refused to listen to them.
How far would you go to meet a stranger that you were uncontrollably drawn to? Liam, Bryce, and Jackson were about to be drawn into a complex set of circumstances that may lead them into a future that no one ever thought of. And this is only the beginning!
This story was filled with many plot twists that took the reader on a journey into an unexpected future. The many characters and situations held me spellbound form the very beginning. IT was fascinating how the omegas were considered to be less worth while when in reality the alphas needed to partner with so use not only their tactical knowledge, but their ability to help keep them under control and focused. Liam may not be your average omega, but his strengths to help Jackson in unique ways. I will be waiting to see what is in store for Liam, Jackson, Bryce and everyone in the Alpha/Omega Project.
4.5 stars (Cliffhanger) This is my first story by this author. I was asked to be a ARC Reader in exchange for an honest review. I made sure as always not to do more than make a cursory glance at the book's storyline. So when I began to read it, all I knew was that this was a story with Twins as the main characters. Well actually it was mostly about one twin, Bryce Tilden and another man named Jackson Henley.
There has been a great War. The Army has been losing. Parts of the United States were war torn. Many families were ripped asunder by the death & destruction of War. Since they had begun losing the War the Army had directed Scientists to create a super soldier that was very strong and could withstand the ravages of warfare. Accidentally the Project Alpha became the Alpha & Omega Project. The more they experimented they discovered that some of the men reacted differently to the cocktail of drugs they were injected with.
The Tilden twins joined the Alpha Project with the notion to revenge the killing of their family, as a result of the War, as well as the prospect of earning enough money to pay off bills and loans. This seems an ideal solution for both of them until the injection that is supposed to lead to them both of them becoming super Alpha soldiers. Unfortunately something very unforeseen happens. THe serum causes two different reactions from each of them. Leading to One twin, Liam to go to the Alpha Academy while his brother Bryce went to the until now unexplained Associate Soldier academy the Omega Academy. Bryce does not want to go, but is given no choice.
The Learning curve at the Omega Academy is very steep for Bryce. He has a hard time adjusting. Luckily he has a kind roommate who tries to help. But the authoritarian/disciplinarian Drill Sergeant Jones makes his time miserable. In this book - the author has a an entirely different perspective of the capabilities of an Omega - he is an essential Military Assistant, who helps the Alpha he is Bonded to after a year's training. Until then the Alphas and Omegas are kept separated until the Bonding Day. The mere scent of an Omega drives an Unbonded Alpha crazy with desire.
On his very first Bonding Day, Bryce observes what happens along with the remaining Omegas in training. He is shocked and appalled until a certain Alpha appears. Something inexplicable happens to Bryce. He can't control nor does he understand his reactions to a complete stranger and Alpha, who is about to be Bonded to another Omega.
From this point on this book becomes full of adventure, danger, confusion, identity switches, devious Omegas, brotherly love, great sacrifices, scent blockers, curious doctors, harsh training methods, threats, and actual injuries from falls & knives. Men trying to force others to be with them. Metamorphosis, true Bonding, willingness to do anything for the only one that ever made him feel so complete & now he has the capacity to envision a future of happiness despite a War torn country.
If you are a fan of stories full of action & suspense, love & betrayal, loyalty & military comradeship, a different interpretation of Alphas & Omegas, mpreg, and drugs whose consequences Scientists don't quite understand, and surprises, then this story is for you. But be forewarned that this book ends in a major cliffhanger.
This was a book that I had trouble putting down. The alternate USA where this takes place is a place where the USA needs every benefit they can get to fight their war and win. It is never stated but it appears to be after 9-11 except in this US more than just the Twin Towers were bombed. A scientist creates a serum that makes supersoldiers, alphas. Extreme poverty leads many young men to sign up to be given the serum for the monetary payout plus what guy doesn't want to be stronger, faster, better than everyone else. But, there is a downside that they are not told about and that is that not all will become alphas, many will become omegas. This book follows identical twin brothers who sign up for the alpha experiment, despite being identical, one becomes alpha while the other becomes omega. We then follow the brother who got the short end of the stick as he goes to the Omega Academy. This is not what he signed up for, he has always been the stronger, more dominate twin. This story follows him as he attempts to train as an omega to fulfill his part of the two man team. The story explores the rigidity of the military when an unforseen variable requires them to change how they plan to do things. The alpha and omega serum is definitely taking this story into sci-fi or fantasy but the behavior of the military and the scientist are pretty true to what is done today. The idea of changing someone one the genetic level to change their personality and physiology has been explored by many writers but Omega Academy takes it in a direction that is totally unique. The story is fast paced and well-written. The twin that is the focus of this book is well developed as is the alpha he is drawn to. The other twin is not as well developed but he is developed enough that the reader knows being dominate is a big change for him and that he will do anything for his brother. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves Sci-fi, m/m pairings, hot guys and menin uniforms. Though the book is not extremely graphic it does contain scenes that could be triggering to some readers because of this it is most appropriate for New Adult and older. Older teens may be able to handle the dark subject matter and the triggering materials. I loved this story and can't wait for the next book in the series. I received a free copy of this book in returnfor afair and honest review.
I liked this story but didn’t love it ……I wanted to love it because it had so many elements that I adore-two hot men, one an Alpha, one an Omega, shifting, and a surprise male pregnancy. I know when an author is starting a new series it takes time to introduce all of the information so that we get a real idea of the setting and how & why the characters are the way they are. But for me romance and love are why I read and it took way to long for the 2 characters to actual meet----the 2 main characters don’t meet until we are over 40% into the book! For me that is just way to long into the story because then the actual time the two are together just feels so rushed. I will say author tells a very good story and I do believe that if she continues this into a series I will read them because I am hoping that with this book she has laid the foundation well enough that hopefully she won’t feel the need to go over the same ground again and again to explain the two main characters’ motivations. Please be aware that there are some darker elements to this story that may be hard for some people to deal with and I’ll be honest there was a moment or two when I almost stopped reading because of what I was afraid may happen I am glad that I continued to read because the book got really good after this point and really did deliver a sweet, happy ending.
Bryce wants to avenge his parent’s deaths, so along with his twin brother enlists in a secret project called “project Alpha” thinking it will be his chance do something great ……...only to find out afterwards that he got more than he bargained for; Jackson always felt like an outsider and doesn’t really feel like the Alpha that he sees in those around him. One moment they are both trudging along doing what they are expected to do when a scent on the wind and a glance change their paths and lead them on a journey of discovery and love as well as a chance to have everything they have always wanted but never really believed they could ever have.
If I could have divide up the star rating I would give the first half 2 stars and the second half 4 stars so I went with 3 stars as a happy medium! I did enjoy the book over-all and would recommend it with the caveat that it starts out slow but gets better as you go along!
I received a free copy of this book from the author in exchange for my honest review.
