There are several pictures on each page with a smallish to medium amount of text. While the photographs were fantastic and the text simple and clear, it just wasn't meaty enough. It would be nice to use as an introduction, but to really learn about each animal you'd need another (or several) books.
It would work for pre-K or K by itself. It would also be great to put in your "book basket" for the kids to look at. The photos are really well done and there are a lot of animals.
A good book, but didn't quite do what I needed it to do.
