I like this book, it was sensible with gentle humour and lots and lots of good advice. Layouts are clear and pleasing to the eye and chapters are colour coded. There are lots of recipes including those that can be enjoyed by older children too. Having had four babies I think the development advice was spot on and the book can be enjoyed by eaters or meat and dairy or not.

Very helpful! But taking some of the strong opinions with a grain of salt. Or maybe not salt. She was pretty particular about reducing your sodium intake!

In seriousness, learning the science behind motor development and how we acquire preferences and tastes was super fascinating and I feel at least a little better equipped for feeding my 6 month old and trying to avoid creating an overly picky eater. And I took some pretty serious notes in the nutrition chapter when they talked about compensating for vegetarianism. The recipes at the end were nice too, but I might be kidding myself if I think I'm going to really have time for all the peeling, steaming, roasting and baking. Balance is everything and when I'm having to choose between quality time with my little girl and meal prepping, I'm probably going to choose quality time and not feel guilty about canned purees and dissolving crackers.

Very educational and motivational towards approaching food in a proper way. Incredibly well systemised research references which pushed me to go and read the actual studies on topics like "veggie vs meat eating" or "omega 3 vs omega 6", etc.

One thing where it could be improved is better search system (a cheat sheet) and more recipes for the early days. I am sort of literal guy and need more concrete instructions or reasoning behind suggestions, so that might be a very subjective critique lol.

The information is so useful that it's another babies book that might be useful to anyone to read. Disregarding if they are a parent of ever wanna be one. It's answers questions which the reader might have for themselves. It made me do blood tests to check the level of everything that comes from food. So, all in all, very good book and experience.

Quick, easy read. Not overly repetitive. Sites lots of studies to support the reasons to both use purées and then finger foods. The only thing I noticed missing was concern about sodium content in baby’s foods, which I’ve seen emphasized in other sources.

One of the best books on starting solids. I love that it teaches you to follow your baby’s lead instead of a specific method.
