Peyton and Marco have always led complicated lives, but now their cases are pulling them in different directions.

After his surgery, Marco has a long road of rehabilitation ahead of him, but his precinct needs him to focus on the murder of a young serviceman who might have intimate ties to the mayor.

Peyton wants to be there for him; however, when a DEA agent turns up missing, the Ghost Squad is called to the Yucatan to investigate. What they find there will embroil them in a drug war between two countries, where illicit activities are being bartered underground and the players are impossible to identify.

However, as Peyton and her team soon learn, they are facing an adversary that will only be appeased in blood – the blood of humans sacrificed to an uneasy Mayan god.

About the author

ML Hamilton taught high school English and journalism in Central California for 32 years.

Teaching students to appreciate literature made her career rewarding; however, she always dreamed of publishing her own novel.

In 2010, the dream came true. Her first novel, Emerald, was published by Wild Wolf Publishing. The sequel to Emerald, The Heirs of Eldon, followed the next year.

In addition to teaching and writing, she has three sons, two daughters-in-law, two dogs, and three amazing grandbabies.

Peyton Brooks is my kind of woman and these mysteries are my kind of books. I love recording this character and every time ML Hamilton adds another book to the pile I revel at getting to once again walk among them. Each novel brings a new commitment and depth from character and author. The mystery is more suspenseful, the characters reveal more flaws, more honesty, more humor. We run into some relatively new folks, we see a new side to an old nemesis, we have closure with some outstanding issues. We have a pretty hilarious visit to a Comicon-esque convention. Our trip to the Yucatan with Peyton and the Ghost Squad to solve a savage murder revealed from the most clandestine of clues, revels in all the history and splendor for which that region is known. It's good to be back in the and of ML Hamliton. I can't wait to return with HAUNTS OF BODIE, Peyton Brooks FBI #6 - due out this Spring 2018.

Peyton Brooks is back and this time her case takes her and her team to the Yucatán. While she’s out of the country, Marco and his team have their own cases to investigate. Full of action and suspense on all fronts.

The circle of characters that ML Hamilton has created feel like family to me. I love how the relationships continue to expand and grow. Each book builds on the prior ones and the circle of characters continues to grow.

I can’t imagine anyone other than Kelley Hazen narrating the Peyton Brooks books. The unique voices she has created for each of the characters really bring out their personalities.

Mayan Gods in the Yucatán (Peyton Brooks, FBI #5) was a great read by M.L. Hamilton. After Marco’s surgery, he has a long road of rehabilitation ahead of him. His precinct needs him to focus on the murder of a young serviceman who has ties to the Mayor. A DEA agent ends up going missing and the Ghost Squad is called to the Yucatán to investigate. They find themselves in a drug war between two countries. They are facing an adversary that will only be appeased in the blood of human sacrifice to an uneasy Mayan God. I loved listening to Kelley Hazen’s narration and can’t wait to read more by the author.

I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the narrator and found it very entertaining and intriguing. This fast paced plot is supported by very unique and at times flawed characters. Four cases are being investigated so there is never a lull in the action. If you like action with some humour, this series is perfect and the narration just adds to the enjoyment. It's hard to turn it off, so you'll be listening to it longer than you intended. I'm looking forward to the next book.

Marco is working on a drive by shooting and continuing rehab on his leg and also looking at the mayor in connection with a gay ex soldier's murder. Peyton and the FBI crew are off to the Yucatan to investigate the murder of a DEA agent by a local gang and find themselves confronting drugs in paradise. This was the last of the boxed set (1-5) and I just bought 6 & 7.. Really liked this series and its characters.

Again another great read. I love these series. It keeps you wanting more. It is very enlightening and love how we read about how Peyton is doing with her team and Marco is doing with team. Love how the guys on Marco's team have a lot of fun making fun with Marco. I especially loved the ending of the book. Great to see two couples get together. I have already started on Book 6, keep up the great work.

Another set of great adventures forour lovelorn couple, Peyton with her FBI team and Marco and his murder squad. Non-stop action and suspense from start to finish, with a heart-warming ending to the last book in this box set of thrillers. Hope there is more to come.

Bass

Even though Bass betrayed a fellow agent he felt remorse. Joe Miller shouldn't have died. Bass got greedy and got in over his head.
