I have seen too many negative reviews for this book. This book was hugely popular when it was first published.

This book has a simple plot; the narration is simple (too preachy and a little overdramatic at times), and the ending is predictable. The author is a young individual, and we can see the lack of maturity and life experiences in her writing style at times.

Due to its vast popularity, readers who bought this book expected a lot from it and were disappointed due to the same and felt it was an overhyped one.

It seems that if you approach this book with an open mind and without many expectations, you will enjoy reading it more.

Despite its flaws, I felt that I was entertained to a certain extent while reading it (which is one of the main reasons why I read other books too by the author)

Savi Sharma tells the story of four individuals from different walks of life who are interwoven together intricately by fate.

This book will be a decent choice for a simple, light-hearted read.

Original review:

{Update : Nearly a month has passed and It still is bugging me that where are Meera's parents when she was lying between death and life. Savi should answer it. This is India, here a sneeze from a child cause havoc in house}

2 stars because it made me laugh. It was intended to make me cry and feel love. But failed miserably.

This story is of Meera who is searching a boyfriend, no, a story. She found one in a cafe she spent a lot of time. He is mysterious, because he wear black suit and look good and ignore her. She wants to know more about him to write a story. She meets him and as usually our charming hero Vivaan show attitude and walk away. But he also falls in love with her at first sight like her. So they meet. Vivaan tell his story. Which is nothing ?

Vivaan : My mother died , my father raised me.
Meera (started crying) : Your life is so tough. Your story is sad.
Vivaan : No, listen Kabir’s story. ( Kabir is manager at cafe ).
Kabir : My father died and I work to support my family, I quit my college. I love Nisha who is rich.
Meera : Your story is sad too. Started crying.

Let me tell you Meera, death of a family member is a great card to play in your story, but you need to use it in right way. Your character’s way of telling their stories is so hollow that I was laughing, instead of being sad.

There is no story first of all. It is just some bottom level philosophy, bathroom-thoughts, puts into a a boring and old frame of drama and bollywood’s film’s stories.

A boy. A girl. Their Friend’s rich and poor love story. Boy is broken because of his lost love. Girl is bubbly. Boy leave. Girl got depression. Boy realise his love. He came back. Girl’s get angre because he leave without goodbye. He tells his dramatic past. Girl runs away. Get into an accident. Go to comma. Boy confessed his love. Girl opens her eyes. Did I miss anything? NO. Whole story.

Some points :

Meera knew she had a story and it would be the most touching story she had ever heard or written. Well, NOPE. How can she know she had a very touching story without even know anything about story. Just because Vivaan is attractive.

Meera approached Vivaan. I wanted to go Pune if this happen there.
At their first meeting Meera wanted to know his story. I do not know if she was going to write a biography.

I think Meera is more mysterious than Vivaan. Atleast Vivan talk to his aunt on phone. While Meera got no one. Even after the accident, no one arrived to see her. That make me sad.

Vivaan message her. She even did not ask how he get her number. Just assume it is given by Kabir. Not confirm it with Kabir either. Might be Vivaan is stalker. But he is attractive, and she needed a boyfriend story.
Vivaan tell her he have no mother. She wanted to hug him. Exactly, a stranger tells you he has no mother and you will hug him Meera. How kind of you !!!
Then Vivaan takes her hand into his and Meera is like “a friendly gesture”. How stupid of you Meera.

Kabir tell his sad story which is so funny.
At one point Kabir say.
Kabir : It made me quite sad that such a pretty girl was crying instead of smiling.
So pretty girl cannot be sad or if a ugly girl cry it will not made Kabir sad.

The way Meera talks about people who got anxiety.
Meera : Imagine how miserable those people truly are on the inside. They must have ulcers from all the stress. Life is too short to worry about everything.
Meera clearly is an idiot who read shit facebook post.

I do not know if you can resign like that from the post of Asst. Branch Manager of a Citi Bank.

Long Dialogues. I mean two or three pages long dialogues which are very much like copy paste of some motivational blog’s posts. Or Love blogs.

Vivaan travel whole world in just three months. Not only travel but he explores those countries. As he say, “I do not want to visit them, I want to explore them, want to know about shopkeepers, their people and ---” some three pages long dialogues. Get idea.

Vivaan : If travelling was free, they would never see me again.
Hahahahahahah... Nice whatsapp status. Also Vivaan give 20 lacs to Kabir so he can open his Cafe. He is worrying about money. Crap.

What happened in foreign countries!!
American: Hello
Vivan : I quit my job for travelling
Spanish: Hello
Vivaan : I quit my job for travelling.
Chinese: Hello
Vivaan : I quit my job for travelling..
WTF ... we know bro calm down.

There are more.
Nisha is more beautiful than words can describe but she has angelic face. According to Kabir.
Meera has angelic face. According to Vivaan.
Vivaan has angelic face. According to Meera.
So 3 out of 4 characters have angelic face.

I recommend you not to read it. It is bad. No story.
No characters.

Characters are so weak it hurts to brain. Traveller does not seem to enjoying his travelling. Why ? No reason. Why he was not travelling before? No reason. Writer who has a story now but she does not write.

Why so publicity then, I do not know. It is not some very exceptional story, just plain love story. With long-long dialogues which are very irritating.

Normal people talk normally but in the book everyone is Socrates. They all were philosopher. They do not talk in words or sentences; they talk in paragraphs and pages.
I like the Poem btw.

DO NOT FALL FOR ADVERTISEMENT. IT IS NOT GOOD.

Hello and welcome to another episode of reading, regretting, and ranting.
Sincerely, I don't want to waste my time evaluating this book because it doesn't even deserve my review, so I'll make it short.
The novel, however, was far worse than any daily soap in Hindi. How??

Storyline :- Four dumb characters fall in love with one other for the same old Bollywood reasons: physical beauty, an angelic face, failed past relationships, and, not to mention, having "twin dimples like angels."

Narration/Writing :- A 2 to 3 page conversation that uses motivational but cheesy speech from a WhatsApp status.

A few lines to prove my point:-
‘ I was so excited, I was vibrating on my chair’
‘ I needed that beautiful, brown eyes creature back in my life’

Characters :- lists of the bizarre things they did in the story

1. Because he likes Kabir's narrative, Vivan gives him 20 lac.
2. Vivan has the means to travel, so why doesn't he? Nobody is aware.
3. On their first day of meeting, Kabir proposes to Nisha.
4. Not to mention that each and every one of them is a philosopher; you will receive a motivating statement from them roughly every two to three pages.

Simply avoid wasting your time and money on this book.

Such an appealing title with a disastrous story. Maybe my expectations were too high when I picked this up. I am against throwing books & stopping abruptly after two pages or would have saved myself from this torture.
A random guy (Vivaan’s) story hits Meera - female protagonist at author’s meet and she pursues him immediately. I can’t really figure out is she eager for story or boyfriend? Really? That cliché plot? Yes, IT IS!
I texted: I will handcuff you to the table so cannot run.
Who texts this to almost a stranger you collided once in a café? Dude, seriously give me a break!
And she is really expecting he will have a great love story to share! When he denies they turn to café manager for a goddamn story, Oh fucking genius!
At moments it felt I was literally reading the script of Ekta Kapoor’s melodramatic tv series where heroine keeps crying with any damn thing happening.
“I’m not exactly dressed for a walk”, she explained. - Are you kidding me?
Perhaps he forgot to pay his phone bill in all excitement of getting Kafe Kabir up & running I thought. Kill me, Please.
description
And then all of sudden there’s a story (from the same guy – Vivaan), accident, parting, meeting again, love not confessed, love concurred. - Heights of stupidity!
Plot: 0/5.0 – Maybe anyone can write a story!
Drawbacks: Language, conversations, characters personalized & goddamn whole storyline.

Nothing that I expected out of "An Amazon Bestseller".
A classic example of falling for a solid marketing gimmick.

Presented as an "Inspirational Romance", this book depicts with nothing but typical Bollywood style twists and messed up soap opera. This story maybe has a potential to be a good one only if the characters were good enough.
Characters dealt in here are Meera ( a nervous and an aspiring author), Vivaan (a supposedly a rich guy who just loves to escape for no solid reason), Kabir (a guy who is good at making coffee, impromptu marriage proposal, eh?) and Nisha (who is a chick who agrees to marry a coffee shop manager only the second time she met him)

Things I liked about this book:

Nothing!

Things I did not like

- I was thoroughly bored throughout this book.

- The story seemed incomplete on various occasions. The description was either vague or completely out of context. It could have been way better if the premise were built better. Although it wouldn't have benefited the plot much.

- I really found the characters unrealistic and the relationships seemed forced. The situation they were put into were vaguely described and were incomplete. The emotions they tried to convey either made me yawn or chuckle profusely. It did not ring the bells it was supposed to.

-Frigging INSTA LOVE

-The book progressed weirdly and it only made the story even more unbelievable. Every person Vivaan happens to meet is a frigging expert only in the situation he is stuck in. Everyone has an opinion on the same darn thing. Everything happens is totally unrealistic. Certain aspects can be accepted as its fictional. However, everything that is presented here is so hard to connect to, it only deteriorates the reading experience.

Final Thoughts:
All the 90 minutes that I actually spent reading this, they could have been used for a better cause. Do not do this. Even if you have nothing better to pick up. Stare the wall, try catching a couple of Pokemon, but do not do this.

PEACE

Handsome banker meets pretty girl, who is an aspiring writer (with no idea of what story she wants to write, and with precious little talent, but that seems to be immaterial). Immediate fascination, some very hurried development of a friendship and an equally hard-to-believe love, and then, without a word of explanation, the hero vanishes, going off on a world tour to fulfill his dream of travelling. The girl he’s left behind spends her time moping and fuming in turn and baring her heart to their best friends, a couple who've had an equally whirlwind and unbelievable romance as well.

Full of trite—and often ungrammatical—platitudes (“Everyone has a story to tell, everyone is a writer. Some are written in the books, and some are confined to hearts”, “You do not start, nor do you ever end. You are constant, yet ever changing. You are everywhere and yet just with me. You are my creator or my creation, I question myself.”), with a wafer-thin plot and almost no character development to speak of, Everyone Has a Story is—there's only one adjective to describe this—tiresome. It lacks depth, the characters are one-dimensional, and the story reads like a very predictable Hindi film. Even if the writing itself were good, that would have been some saving grace; but Savi Sharma’s writing is inept, unconvincing, and shallow.

And yes, why would anybody going around the world on a tour go to Italy, then off to the US, before returning to Western Europe and Paris, only to whizz off to Nova Scotia? Makes no sense (unless this was to show that Vivaan has both a lot of money to spare, as well as no idea of geography).

Extremely avoidable.

The story has nothing, seriously.
A plain story with some unrealistic events, dull characters with two of them being the ignored sidekicks rather than actual protagonists in the story and some beautifully written sentences.
The authors really well but the story, plot, and characters in the book just made me feel disappointed and disgusted at this book.

everyone has a story, the title of the story captivated me and henceforth i decided to buy the book and found out it to be a big disappointment. I purchased this book because of the hullabo it created on amazon and found it too be a big real boredom. 4 main characters, some really messed up bollywood, daily soaps jumbled stories, over flooded emotions and stupid one liners made it a real headache. The way the protagonist Meera tried to express the emotions made me laugh like crazy and trust me i imagined a daily soap playing in my head and it was way beyond my tolerance. The authors who have been takings this book as a competition should read this book and they will find it to be a baseless book. The cover just don't sync with the title, the characterisation is actually poor and the way the protagonist is characterised makes her look like an aadarshvadi friend, lover and author, i would say it is overdone. And there is nothing that can bind the readers with this book. A true combination of old romantic novels with some good spoilers. Book which should not be present in your bookshelves.
am giving it 1 star because of some 2 3 good oneliners.

Why? And how did this book got published?
Waste of time. Disgrace to genuine readers. After finishing this I was like "Everyone can write this story!" ('cause, there's nothing in it.)

Whoa. I have a head-ache now. I need to patch my brain together after reading this mess. I would gladly give it a zero star if possible.

I was so excited, I was almost vibrating in my chair.

This is one of the many terrible lines in the book. This, and several variations of "Love is so powerful, it can make you do crazy things."

Let's start with the review, shall we?

Plot: 0.5/5
It's strange that a book called "Everyone has a story" would have no story. It isn't like a Bollywood movie. It's worse. It's worse than even a Hindi serial. There are only 4 characters in the book and they fall in love with each other for simple reasons like external beauty, the love for traveling, external beauty, a fucked up previous relationship, and external beauty.

Language: 0.5/5
The male lead, Vivaan, uses this line when he remembers the woman he left behind: "I needed that beautiful, brown-eyed creature that I had thrown away."

Seriously. Who in their right minds describes their lover as a "creature"? That's right. Someone who is awful with words.

Characterization: 1/5
The characterization is terrible: the protagonists do crazy stuff for no apparent reason/motivation.

Vivaan gives 20 lakhs to a man he met for the first time just because he liked his story. And mind you, Vivaan is a normal guy, not a multimillionaire.

Kabir tells Nisha he wants to marry her on the first day they talked.

Meera tells Vivaan she would chain him to the table lest he run away after their first date.

Crazy stuff, I tell you.

Logic: 0/5
Refer to the above.

Overall, I'd give this book 0 stars. Too bad Goodreads doesn't have that option.

I wish someone would come up to me and tell me WHY this book sold millions of copies? Seriously, what is wrong with the Indian readers?

Again, high expectations and I get the bleh-rolling-your-eyes-while-reading-it kind of story.
It was not very well written, the story in itself was cheesy, and I don't mean that simple love story cheesiness, no! Like a huuuuge load.
There were helluva lot of mistakes and things missing in the story, like Meera said that she still had her mother alive, and she never showed up during the story.
Really, it was meant to be miserable and all, but I just couldn't feel it, whether it was me not having the mood for romance or it was just not touching.
Disappointing.

Everyone Has a Story is a story about Vivan and Meera.
Meera wants to write and Vivan, the mysterious guy is her subject. Apart from the love story they have, there are other significant characters who provide the story its grip.
I would recommend it for spare time and a light read.

First of all, they need a good editor. So many mistakes and incorrectly framed sentences were very disappointing.
The book is overly dramatic and predictable. It was hardly even a good read in parts but since it was so stretched, I was waiting for it to finish really quick.
I think it would easily be in my worst read lists.

Meera, the main protagonist is really irritating.

I was hoping this book would not be a typical love story from the title but it was never intended not to be one.
Right from the beginning it seemed to be so typical and continued to be so throughout.
Good start as a fresh writer.

"Everyone has a story to tell. Everyone is a writer. Some are written in the books, and some are confined to hearts."

Meera. Vivaan. Kabir. Nisha.
This books is about these four people and how their lives are connected to each other to form this story. Meera wants to write a book. She decides to write on Vivaan's experiences of travelling. Vivaan tells her to write the story about Kabir who is in love with Nisha. Everything's a little boring and messed up. (Though, it is a good book if you consider the fact that it is a debut. Otherwise, Bleh.)

The problems with this book are :

1. The characters have disappearing tendencies. It is like two of them fight, one goes missing for next 10 pages or so.
2. When you find them, they are in hospital after one or other accident.
3. Unrealistic. You write a cheque of 5 lakhs for a café manager who is just an acquaintance? Also promise to give more money?
4. Meera is writing a book. She meets Vivaan and falls for him. Then she has an accident and is in coma. So many things happened, but where are her parents?! In a country like India where 'situation' like sneezing causes havoc in the whole house, where are her parents when she is on life support?
5. The characters are quite emotional. Crybabies actually. It is irritating.
6. Vivaan explores China, NY, Spain and a couple more places. He tells every person that he has quit his job in India to travel. Every time. Again and again.
7. So, the Chinese guy, the New Yorker and the Spanish guy tell him to go back to India, to Meera but Vivaan decides to go to Paris to end his trip in the city of love. (Nice.)
8. Vivaan loved Radha, she died. Vivaan loved Meera, she almost died. (Cursed?)
9. The traveler is travelling, but not enjoying. The writer has a story, but not writing.
10. How can Kabir propose a girl he has meet only like 5 times?

This book has many quotable parts, but somehow they don't connect to the story. It is as if those parts are forced into the story to change prose to poetry. (Nice trick there in the prologue!) Some portions are repeated unnecessarily. Meera says it, then Kabir repeats, then Vivaan repeats it, then Meera writes it in her book, and someone again reads it out loud. Meh.

Read this book without any expectations. This is my first read by an 'Indian Romance author'. :P

Everyone has a story is the author's debut novel which was inspired by stories around her presented as an 'Inspirational Romance'.

Well talking about the character Meera, who is in search of a story. Vivaan, who dreams of traveling the world. Kabir, who desires something of his own. Nisha, who keeps secrets of her own. Every character wants something from life. The story revolves around them with very little depth of sense. It is a story with some unrealistic events like Meera's accident and no one comes to visit from her family. Vivaan wants to explore the world but has the same dialogue all around that I quit my job for traveling is enough to lose interest in this book. Nisha, a rich girl fall for poor Kabir makes this story like a daily soap or typical Bollywood drama. They have only a few problems or adventures in their life and they don't have much to do with their life. I don't understand what was in the author's mind while writing.

The characters are dull and one dimensional. The author doesn't think much while writing. It's an utter disappointment to read something like this; the author's writing is clumsy, implausible, and superficial. It's not at all inspirational romance, the story makes no sense. The title is captivating but it's a disgrace to genuine readers. The author is failed to inspire others through his writing. I would not recommend this book to anyone and the only thing I found interesting about this book is that it's in a list of Flipkart and Amazon bestseller books of 2017.

This book has got many emotions attached to it, such as, love , friendship and Life. There are many such things in which everyone can learn a lot which didn't know before. I would like the way Savi Sharma handle the story and characters. It's inspiring. The characters Meera and Vivaan are so good and inspiring. Kabir and Nisha are so good.
Awesome novel to read full of love. highly recommended. It's worth the buy.

I bought this book after watching the author in World Book Fair 2017 and promptly bought and book and got it signed by author too, my first personally author signed book copy. It was nice to know that a self published book got so much publicity and Savi is now on to verge of releasing her second book. People were claiming to have read the book 7-8 times. May be that was to find something of a plot?

Here 4 main characters I say 4 but you should only count 3. The book is just okay there is no story but a mumbled and jumbled mess to find a story and few days of interaction between people and I have to agree with another reviewer here everyone talks like they are life coach with one life advice to another. The book is just average and though I wish Savi all the best in her future endeavor and hope that she becomes very successful.

This book might have sold 100000 copies and may go on to sell 1000000 more but the story would remain the average one with the same old bollywood rehash plot. And yes where were Meera's parents when she was going through such serious injury. Everyone behaves like they are working now so they are just living in a bubble, Hello, in India your parents care for you no matter you live in another city or another country they would call and follow you if you are in trouble.

All the best Savi, again congratulation for you on success of your book and I wish that your future books and even better. Keep on Reading folks.

People who don't read generally ask me my reasons for reading. Simply put I just love reading and so to that end I have made it my motto to just Keep on Reading. I love to read everything except for Self Help books but even those once in a while. I read almost all the genre but YA, Fantasy, Biographies are the most. My favorite series is, of course, Harry Potter but then there are many more books that I just adore. I have bookcases filled with books which are waiting to be read so can't stay and spend more time in this review, so remember I loved reading this and love reading more, you should also read what you love and then just Keep on Reading.

This is the first book of the Author. And it shows. I am not an avid reader, but have recently developed habit to read books. Even though this is one of the first few books I read, I was able to finish the book in 3-4 sittings. There are more things that I did not like than the ones I liked. Hence just 2 stars (that is actually generous considering this is first book of the author)

What I liked
- Simple language used most of the time.
- Changing POV between the main characters.

What I didn't like
- First of all - Story is very basic. Lacks any newness. It is regular old story and I believe I have seen parts of this story in some movies as well.
- The characters are shallow and kind of moody. Sometimes they are bemused and sometimes are so impetuous that their actions seem completely illogical at first. Author does give justification for some of them , but many remain to be explained
- Many things happen randomly and author does not explain them in detail. Sometimes, I noticed even they are just described in one or two sentences and period.. done with the chapter.
- As you reach near the end of the book, story is very predictable and you just want to skip part of the paragraphs and read only the dialogues or highlights. That is actually enough to understand the story and even if you do it from start, you will understand the story.

The book is not great, not good.. strictly OK. If there are options, chose the other book option you have.

‘Everyone has a story’ is a debut book by Savi Sharma who is pursuing her studies as Chartered Accountant.

The book throws light on an important question of life –
Have we found the story of our life and most importantly have we found what character we are playing in our story?

The book deals with four different people who have great ambitions in life and how their stories get connected with one another. The narration by the author is smooth and in between the pages you will find quite a few inspiring quotes wanting you to seek your own story.

On the whole, the book starts as a dream; moves ahead like a journey – a journey of hope, of love, of disappointments, of heartbreaks and most importantly of life and ends on a happy note rather an inspiring note.

It is a beautiful portrayal where the author conveys that there are numerous stories all around us just waiting to be told. I liked the fact that the author decided to include very few characters in her book & they have been sketched so well into words that I can’t believe they aren’t real & don’t forget its her debut work.
