This one was pretty decent. Wish it had focused more on Betsy Ross and less on the war. She was an amazing woman.

Betsy Ross: Patriot of Philadelphia by Judith St. Ross, Illustrator Sasha Meret- Children’s Colour Picture Book- Betsy Ross @ Elizabeth Grisscom was born on 01 January, 1852 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She was a member of Quaker community. Quaker community person wears a white cap by which they can be identified. Her parents Samuel & Rebecca had 13 children. She was educated in Friends School. In this school, children had to work for 4 hours extra to help the society. Betsy leant stitching and emboss complicated designs on quilts. She was granted permission to work in a upholstery shop. In 1773, she married John Ross. In 1773, British king George III reigned 13 colonies of America’s eastern coast. In 1775, America fought for independence from Britain. On 19 April, 1775 war started in Lexington, Concord, Massachusetts. John Ross joined the army and expired during the war. Betsy ran her upholstery shop at Arch Street, Philadelphia. George Washington showed the design of American flag to his friends Robert Morris, & Col John Ross. Colonel Ross was uncle of John Ross Betsy’s husband. He had witnessed the upholstery work of Betsy. He suggested that the work on design of National Flag should be given to Betsy. In the spring of 1776, George Washington stopped at Betsy Ross's little upholstery shop and displayed the design of the flag. Betsy suggest two changes first star with 5 ends and rectangular flag in place of square flag. They agreed. Thus, this flag unites the thirteen colonies in their fight for independence from Great Britain. It has been mentioned in the book that inspiration for this book has been from the Book “the truth about the Betsy Ross Story by Robert Morris. Betsy Ross emerges as a strong and spirited woman. Her independent streak led her to marry three times. She has been mother of seven daughters. She maintained her own upholstery business for more than fifty years. She is the "patriot of Philadelphia" who created the banner that helped unite the nation.

simplified text is still of interest to aged adults. Gives little known facts about her life and sorrows without being too sentimental. Treats supposition as supposition and not fact, which is refreshing.
